Very poor 🤒
We don't know much about how General Electric handles customer complaints outside ComplaintsBoard, but what we see here, on our website, is quite disappointing. We think there might be reasons for the company's actions (like not knowing about the complaints), and we would be happy to see them among customer-focused businesses that easily solve customer problems. But until that happens, we ask reviewers to be cautious when dealing with General Electric and using their services, and to carefully read the experiences of other customers on ComplaintsBoard, because who is warned is armed, you know! 💪

General Electric washer - wcvh4800k2ww

My ge washer has rarely worked properly since I bought it. They refused to replace it so I spent over $80 for an extended warranty. After numerous service calls, the last technician said he didn't know what the problem was. Still no new washer! I'm not paying the fortune they want for another warranty — well over $100. The washer does as it pleases. Won't complete a wash, water pours out from who knows where all over the floor, it just stops in mid-cycle. Previous sorry, no good servicemen told me things like: "don't put too much detergent in it." "cram it full of clothes." "don't put too many clothes in it." ge, its products and their service are pathetic! Stay away from ge!

General Electric oven

I recently purchased a home and brand new GE appliances were installed. I
was using my oven for the second time ever on Saturday April 21, 2018 and
heard a loud pop. I looked at the stove and found that the glass inside the
stove had shattered and glass was everywhere. I immediately called customer
service to schedule a repair (the item is brand new and under warranty). I
explained what had happened to the customer service agent and she told me
that someone would have to call me in 72 hours to schedule the repair
because that department is closed. On Monday I received a call stating that
a technician would be at my house between 1 and 5 on Thursday April 26th to
repair the oven. They didn't ask if this was a good time for me or even
consider my schedule. Thankfully, I had the time that day to be home and
wait for service. On the day of the scheduled repair appointment, I
received a call from the technician who said he was on his way. During this
call he asks me what needs to be fixed. I tell him that the glass in the
stove needs to be replaced because it shattered. His response was, "Oh we
don't carry the parts with us so we will need to order that". WHAT? I said
so you don't have what I need but you're coming here on a service call? He
states that there were no notes in the account stating the problem. He says
we can order the glass, and come to your house on May 7th. May 7? So I
cannot cook in the oven until then, AND I will need to take another day off
from work to deal with this. This situation wouldn't have been such an
issue for me if the original customer service agent made me aware that two
visits are required, one to diagnose the problem and then a second to
resolve it. When I called back customer service to complain to them about
the lack of communication, they seemed to be unphased and just gave me the
generic "I understand your frustration" response.

General Electric ge dryer knob replacement

I have a GE GTDP490ED5WS dryer which is less than 4 years old. The dryer would work for 5 minutes and then turn off-no heat. I read the manual troubleshooting section and as per the manual checked the fuse in the back as well as the circuit breaker on the electric panel. Both of those items were working. I tried using the ‘Timed Dry" instead of the "Cotton" setting and the dryer would work for a few minutes and then turn off. I called GE Cares for service and Robby came on 4-24-18. After hearing the symptoms Robby simply took off the plastic knob and showed me that it was cracked thus the reason why it was not working. I was charged $158.19 for the service and new knob which is supposed to come in the mail. Why wasn't it suggested in the book that the plastic knob be removed and checked? Something so simple can be done by the consumer and would be more cost effective. Not happy about having to pay so much.

General Electric gfsf2hcybb black bottom-freezer refrigerator

BAD PRODUCT!BROKE DOWN!- NEEDS NEW ELECTRONIC PANEL AND arm for icce maker !...

BAD PRODUCT!

I have been struggling with an ice maker dispenser that makes melted ice, in which, ends up on my floor and has broken 5 glasses. Three techs have been out to fix the problem. Two techs each replaced the ice maker, which cost me $700.00. All three have told me it is "a manufacturing flaw."

The third tech told me that it new electronics panel and an arm that supports the ice maker. Don't know HOW this model get such good reviews. My GE tech confided to me that 80-90% of his work time is spent on this models!

Monetary Loss: $800.

Preferred solution: Full refund/ replacement

See Pictures of melted ice and video of fan noise.

Thank you

General Electric washing machine

On March 22, 2018 I purchased a GE Washing Machine Model #GTW750CSLWS 5.0 cu ft. from JC Penney, that was suppose be delivered March 30, 2018. On March 30, 2018, a different washing machine Model #GTW680BSJ5WS 4.6 from what I had purchased was delivered. At the time of delivered I was not home, and since it was Easter Weekend I did not bother to check it until Sunday night, I realized that was not what I had purchased. On Monday, I called JC Penney to let them know, I was transferred to GE since JC Penney placed the order with them to be delivered. It was a nightmare to have the approval for what I had purchased be delivered. Finally I was told the washing machine I had purchased would be delivered on Friday April 13, 2018 after 3pm, I left work at 2pm to be home, the delivery people never showed up called, so now I had to wait until Monday April 15, because weekends are closed. Monday when I called to let them know nobody showed up on Friday they apologize and re-schedule the deliver for Tuesday April 17, 2018 between 9:00 am and 12:00pm. The delivery people came but nobody had loaded the my washing machine, so they go back to the ware house to go bring me the correct washing mahine model #Model #GTW750CSLWS and they come back with a smaller washing machine Model # GTW330ASK3WW 3.8 cu ft, ridiculous, i called the warehouse and complained for the fifth time, yes they came back that afternoon with the washing machine i had purchased on 03/22/2018, that i supposedly bought on sale and it cost me more since i had to leave work more than once to come wait for the delivery. If it wasn't because i have my mother very sick and i needed a washer i would have cancelled it. With this kind of customer service i'm having second thoughts of buying a GE dryer. There was no sympathy, no effort in trying to assist me asap, i purchased the washing machine on March 22 and did not get it until April 17 in between received two smaller washing machines and another time they came without it. This definitely falls under the UDAAP regulations.

Thank you,

Blanca Garcia

I received a washing machine delivery on 4/23/2018. The machine was very badly damaged. The back was caved in and one of the sides was poking out. The box the machine was in was not damaged. I was told another machine would be delivered the following day. Upon calling to confirm the delivery time they could not find my number in the system. After holding for quite a while I was told that the machine would have to be shipped to the warehouse and I would not get delivery until the following week, 5/1/2018. My complaint is that who ever packaged the machine should have clearly seen the damage. This is a GE employee problem. I was further told that because this wasn't a second delivery that they can not send a different machine. What ever happened to customer service?

Hi Ms. Garcia.

I'm glad to know you finally received the unit your ordered. I wouldn't begin to state it violated the Unfair, Deceptive, or Abusive Acts or Practices, as I don't believe the was any intent involved. The reality is that JC Penny, along with Sears and K-Mart, are struggling financially and may likely be out of business sooner than later. Very unfortunate, as they were all great retailers during their day.

G.E. produces a lot of great appliances. Their cooking products rate as some of the best in the business and their fridges have been given high acclaim too. Unfortunately, the opposite is true on the washing machines. I very seldom bad-mouth a product, but G.E. washing machines have earned their reputation. Generally speaking, they're engineered poorly and will break down prematurely.

Best of luck.

General Electric general electric profile double wall oven

Am not complaining just telling you what happened. We bought a wall oven (GE Profile) July 2015. Our previous Profile finally gave up the ghost after 23 years, we decided to replace with a new model. Last Thursday 11 Apr we broiled Salmon after taking it out, closed the door, while eating we heard a loud POP. Upon investigation discovered the inner oven door (tempered) glass shattered into a million pieces, glad the door was closed and no one injured by exploding glass pieces. Our GE is not even three years old. We called the store where we bought the appliance from and gave them the information for a replacement part. Was told it would take a week or so then the repairman would come to our home for the repair. Did not get the extended Warranty but did not expect our new oven to have this kind or defect in less than three years. This could have resulted is serious injury! Model PK7500DFBB, 27 inch Double Wall oven. We have all the pertinent paper work and photos. Product is registered. Tried to attache photo but couldn't. [protected]@verizon.net . Send an e-mail and I'll attached info that way, thank you. We paid a quality price for what we assumed to be a quality product. Can you help with the repair cost? Thank you, Deryle Smith

General Electric gen-pp9830sjss 30"dwndft elec cooktop ss

We purchaced this cooktop in Oct 1917 from Warners Stellian in Maple Grove, Mn. From the first time we used the cooktop we have had trouble with trying to keep the top clean after use. We use the cleaning product that came with the cooktop which we have to do every time we use the cooktop. Often spend a half an hour each time depending on what has been cooked on the cooktop to get it to look somewhat clean.

We have had GE products for over 40 years and have not had any problems with your products. This has been the worse experience we have ever had.
If there is some solution on how to keep the glass cooktop clean without spending so much time trying to rid the the top of smears and streaks, we certainly would appreciate your advise.

We have tried to follow the cleaning instructions in the booklet but do not have the time to spend cleaning each and every time we use the cooktop whether it is used for boiling water or frying. If we had any idea this product was so time consuming we would not have purchased it!

We hope to hear back from you with a solution to our dilemma.

Hi Mr. Wold.

Appreciate reading your concern.

The appropriate solution to your cook top cleaning solution is to use a flat surface polish such as Cerama Bryte ceramic cook top cleaner. This polish should first be applied before using the cook top, allowing the residue of any spilled item to easily be cleaned off.

Hopefully this helps a great deal.

General Electric unprofessional behavior, unwillingness to correct electrical mistake made by technician error in timely manner

4/11/18: Technician arrives to my home to repair a broken cooktop fan switch and after installing the new fan switch, the cooktop sparked and smoked and would not turn on when the power was restored. The breaker switch did not flip and had to be turned off. After turning off the power again, the technician said he adjusted some wires and 2 hours after he left, the cooktop again would not operate. I contacted GE service right away and was told the soonest they could have someone inspect this electrical problem was in 5 days. I then contacted consumer relations and after escalating to 2 supervisors could not get resolution of this issue. Moreover, the people in the consumer relations department repeatedly interruped me during my call and initially refused to escalate this complaint to a supervisor. I was told there 'is no supervisor'. Subsequently, I spoke with 2 supervisors who would not resolve this problem in a timely fashion. In fact, one supervisor told me to 'pray to God that nothing happens'.

General Electric ge side by side stainless steel refrigerator

Our refrigerator is 2 1/2 years old, used by me and my husband. We had to have it repaired in 2016 because it stopped cooling. This year it spits out hard plastic chunks with the ice. My husband broke his tooth on one piece and our granddaughter almost choked on the other one. Customer service told us that this was normal wear and tear and not a safety issue so we could either replace the part or the refrigerator at our expense.

Hi.

I wish I knew how to address you. Unfortunately all you've left is a handle.

G. E. produces a high quality line of appliances. The line of refrigeration includes models which are traditional, side by side and French door. The mechanical ice dispensing system sounds descriptive of that of the GSS25GSH series of fridge.

I'd like to assist.

Can you confirm the model, the actual date of purchase, from where it was purchased and was there additional warranty coverage purchased with the unit?

Please note, if this concern has already been addressed to your satisfaction, there is no need to respond to this text.

General Electric oven

[protected]

3 1/2 weeks ago I decided to use the self clean to clean my oven, this is the first time I ever used it. After the 4 hours that it took to clean the oven I opened it up and couldn't believe the mess. My oven was caked with a white substance looking like dry wall and it was at least an inch or two. I tried to clean the oven as best as I could. The glass window in the oven looks like someone painted it with white paint the oven liner is stained and the convection fan is caked on the inside with the residue and the racks are damaged and can't come clean. The first service technician came to my house and inspected the oven took pictures and ordered the parts, he wasn't to pleasant I may add. The parts were to be delivered by the following Friday I came home from work and no parts. I called customer service and the woman said she tracked it with Fed Ex and they would be there by 8:00 P.M. on Friday, she then gave me the tracking numbers, I went out and came home later that night and still no parts, when I went and tracked it with Fed Ex I learned that the parts weren't even scheduled until Monday 3-12 On Saturday a repairman showed up after I tried to cancel him since there were no parts. He was very nice but couldn't do anything but leave, the parts were delivered on Monday and the service man showed up 11:20 on Saturday with an attitude when he saw the size of the box and said this was going to be a big job, and he claims wasn't made aware of the job. After opening the box and doing nothing the hadn't sent the part for the fan or the racks. Hence still more complaining and asking me when he showed me the diagram of the parts to be ordered what he should order. At that time I informed him I wasn't a technician and couldn't he call someone, he replied it was Saturday and there isn't anyone. so he ordered the fan and the handed me the print out, I asked him if the racks were ordered he said no and had to then put the order in, I scheduled another appointment for Saturday since I work. I was told to call customer service on Monday 3-19 to see if they could rush the order so that they could repair it on Saturday 3-24. I called and the woman checked to see about ordering the part after she located it at a different place she said she would have the parts sent and they would be delivered on Wed. Thur the latest. The parts never came yesterday I'm sure because of the snow storm. I called today customer service and spoke to Kayla I was requesting the Fed Ex tracking number to see where the parts were she said that at this time there were no tracking numbers. She would have someone call me probably tomorrow on Friday. I requested to speak to a supervisor and was told that there was no one else I could talk to. I am scheduled now for Saturday 3-24. I think I have been more that patient, I have been without an oven now for 3 weeks. I have my holiday coming up next week with 30 people coming for dinner and no oven to cook in. We don't even know if the self clean portion will even work again, not that I would even attempt to use it.
I am not a happy customer this oven isn't even a year old. I also purchased a 5 year warranty wit Home Depot but when I spoke to them they said that this had to be handled through GE. GE isn't handling this to great.
What do you plan on doing?

General Electric microwave handle for model jvm1540lm3cs

This microwave I believe was purchased in 2009 and the plastic handle broke from the top first and then from the bottom. New GE microwaves open from the side without the need for a handle, which was a good move because the plastic handles don't withstand the frequent opening and closing that these microwaves undergo daily and with time they break leaving a bit of plastic in the top and bottom screws which is unsightly. I think the handles are poorly designed from cheap materials and not suitable for the purpose so I would ask GE to provide me free of charge with a replacement handle and I hire a technician to install the new part for me.

Hi Ernest.

Appreciate reading your concern.

Unfortunately, most warranties don't cover the nine (9) years your referring to. Secondly, most warranties do not cover physical damage such as damaging a handle.

General Electric appliance rebate scam

Some scam! Check this out - I sent the following along with photos of the stickers showing model and serial number - still declined. Anyone ready for a class action suit? Appliances were bought Dec 2017, rebate form submitted early Jan 2018.
Hello,
I do not understand why my rebate UKMSNGKZGK keeps popping up as "information needed" for the dishwasher and refrigerator as follows:
Model: GDT695SSJSS
Issue: The serial number provided is invalid
Model: GYE22HSKSS
Issue: The serial number provided is invalid

I have updated the page at your website twice with the correct numbers for the following:

DISHWASHERS BUILT-IN ELECTRONIC GDT695SSJSS ZH720975B $599.00

REFRIGERATORS BOTTOM-MOUNT DOOR NO-FROST GYE22HSKSS VH524344 $1, 999.00

I also added photos of the stickers on both items that have both the Model and Serial Numbers. See attached. I don't understand how the serial numbers can be invalid, as they are printed on the stickers on the boxes in which the items were shipped. Please inform me the problem, and provide a phone number where I can talk to someone to resolve this issue.

General Electric rebate

I submitted ALL required documentation to GE on Dec. 19, 2017. 4-6 weeks, no rebate, but I had been checking online where you can go to "check status" of your claim. I call because you can click to find out what the actual issue is with your claim. Company rep says they need an actual picture of appliance with serial number uploaded. I went and did that same day. Forward another 4-6 weeks, still no rebate. I click again, says my claim needs updating. Call, am on hold OVER one hour. Finally get a rep, they said well didn't you get the emails regarding the first issues and what we needed, NO! Well, now I have updated your claim in our end here and it will be 4-6 weeks for your rebate. NO it won't! GE is counting on customers to forget about rebates, for life to get in the way. To hang up on an hour hold call with the intent to call back and we forget, for us to forget to check the status bc they truly don't send the emails! I spoke with a supervisor who actually said..."We dropped the ball" and no emails were sent to you and we didn't update your file after you submitted the actual picture we requested. this is the game...they hope we forget and people do so it saves them money! I threatened class action lawsuit if I don't see my rebate ASAP! I meant it! Who wants to join me?!?!

General Electric ge top loading washer

Bought brand new 2yrs. And 3 months ago; today, we just had serviceman come out and fix again. This is the sixth time it has broken down. Always buy the extended warranty! I, m glad we did. Bad product and nobody wants to declare it a lemon. I guess they will keep coming out every couple months and fixing it. Do the math, - ext. Warranty was $120 for 5 yrs., they charge al least $100 to come out and look at it. (not counting parts or labor)
After a couple visits, they should condemn it! Hey, it is their money.

General Electric ge faulty washing machine

I am one Very Very unhappy customer. I Purchased a GE washing machine, which is under the one year warranty, I shipped it to my home in Jamaica, it was installed Feb 16th 2018, problem is it does not work, it doesn't complete the wash cycle. I spend 4 hours calling GE customer service, spoke to several people who transferred me around only to be told after 4 hours that they don't service Jamaica and I should fine some company to take care of it at my own expense.
This is totally unacceptable that a large company like GE would treat a customer this way. Jamaica is less that 2 hrs from Florida, why would a company like GE not able to take care of this issue through a third party as good valued customer service?

General Electric clothes dryer

On December 16/2017 I purchased a new [ in the crate] clothes dryer from Sears/Windsor. Wen it was plugged in it made all kinds of noises. I called Sears just before they closed and they suggest I call general electric to use the service warranty which covers this dryer. I have called them 5 times in three weeks and get the same answer, that a manager will get back to me within 48/72 hrs. I am still waiting for a call! Trans Global services has been here to my home attempting to rectify this problem, 5 times. First they replaced the tumbler, twice, then they replaced the motor and belt and pulley. NOW they say the switch on the door is defective! They just left my home and after nearly 6weeks we are still without a working dryer! I send two e mails to general electric thru Facebook, stating that I wish a refund of my money or a new dryer as that is wat I purchased. No response, again!
My name is Derek Virtue, 791 Stanley st. Windsor, Ont. N8X3B4 We are seniors and need a dryer urgently. It has been six weeks, and 5 service calls with NO positive results. Can you please help us or put us in touch with someone who can? thank you.

Hi Derek.

Appreciated reading your concerns. Buying closeout merchandise has both advantages and disadvantages. It sounds like you've run into one of the latter. Whereas Sears has went out of business throughout Canada, a refund isn't an option. Service should be available through an authorised service center unless the dryer was purchased as is. Contact GE at 1.800.GECARES. This should resolve your problem.

General Electric ge electric dryer model gtd65ebsj3ws

I have a 6 month old GE electric dryer that has been broken for 5 weeks now.. I have had a tech out 4 times and still not fixed.. The tech says something different every time he comes out and orders more parts.. I have parts that he has ordered and had sent to me that he has not installed. I have a motor, board and assembly sitting here. He was here yesterday and said he had to order a part (cord and something else) that will not come until the 2nd week of March. This problem is costing GE and myself a lot of money and time. I have taken 4 days off from work for service appointments. I have a detailed letter written out and will take a picture and attach it. (Sorry it was written in caps). The letter includes everything up until yesterdays visit. If I have to wait another 4 weeks that will be 9 weeks that I will not have a dryer. I have spoken with many ge advocates and some try to help but this situation is out of hand. No one knows exactly what is going on.. Someone please take the time to read my letter and straighten this out. I would like a new dryer delivered asp, after waiting so long and wasting so much time I think it is only fair. My case number is [protected]. I was told yesterday that I have a case worker (ERICA @ [protected] EXT 5514) but I keep leaving messages for her and she will not call me back. I can be reached at [protected] Thank you, Ramona Payne

I clicked on General Electric Customer Care Service and left a message on every working number listed. I received a call back from a Bill Bailer (502) 452-4205 who apologized for everything that has happened and said he would be sending me a new dryer out.. New dryer was delivered a week later.. I'm still not happy with GE and would definitely think before buying there appliances in the future.

General Electric ge refrigerator

two service calls and repairs and the problem has not been fixed. the refrigerator was even 3 weeks old bought brand new before issues startedthe repairman replaced the refrigerator part that your ge service people told the service tech would fix the issue. 30 minuets after he left the problem started up again. I called ge consumer affairs department and spoke with a representative and let him know that the problem is still happening and i'm very frustrated that it hasn't been fixed and having to listen to racket, as if someone is tapping a hammer on, is very irritating to listen to while company is visiting or watching 📺 tv. I am beyond frustrated. when I bought the refrigerator no one had to wait on payment or wait for service. I want the refrigerator fixed immediately or have home depot where I purchased it at to load me another one up deliver it to my home which is about 2 miles from the store. no cost to me. i'm very unpleased with ge right now.

General Electric poor service regarding defective washer

We purchased a new washer (model #GFW450SPK0DG on 12/13/17 and it was delivered on 12/20/17. We did not use the washer until 1/2 as my family and I went on vacation on 12/24 for a week. Upon using the washer for the first time we realized that the clothes were still soaked at the end of the cycle. We called GE and a service call was scheduled.

1/9 - Tech came out, inspected the washer and determined that the
mother board needed replacement. Part was not immediately available so service call scheduled for 1/15/18.

1/15 - Tech replaced part. Attempted to do laundry- still did not work. Another service call scheduled for 1/18.

1/18 - Service call rescheduled to 1/20 due to snow.

1/20 - Tech came and determined pressure switch needed to be replaced. Scheduled for 1/24.

1/23 - Service call was rescheduled to 1/25 as Fedex was delivering part on 1/24.

1/25 - Tech came, replaced part but machine still not working. After doing extensive diagnosing, determined that pressure tube needed replacing. He then informed me that GE's part dept would be down for 10 days so it would be 2 weeks before part would be available.

I then called the Customer Relations Dept and spoke with a rep on ext 5235. I explained the situation and requested the machine be replaced. She stated that my case #[protected] would be forwarded to caseworker Jasmine (ext 5455) and I should receive a call back in 24 to 48 hours. I have not gotten a call back to date and have since left 2 messages for Jasmine.

This entire ordeal has been really stressful and I don't feel like the situation is being handled with any sense of urgency. We were sent $40 to "go to the laundromat". My husband and I work 7 days a week and don't have time to go to a Laundromat, plus we have 2 teenagers. We paid $765.01 for this washer to replace our previous one so we could have the convenience of using it as time allows. We also have to take unpaid time off from work for every service call.

I am hereby requesting the washer be replaced asap.

Thank you for your prompt attention to this matter.

Their contract service company A&E sucks. They have done the same run around with us for a month now. Bottom line is never by a GE appliance again, ever!

Hi Maxine.

I'd like to help.

From what retailer did you purchase this unit?

Good.

Unfortunately, G.E. has a horrible design with their washing machines. I my opinion, G.E. makes the worst washing machines on the market. You're likely nowhere near done dealing with problems, even if you do get it exchanged.

With that said, it becomes Home Depot's place to replace the unit, as it came from their inventory.

Make sure you have precise documentation for each service call. Ultimately, Home Depot will be able to get an R.A. (return authorization) number and return it for credit towards their account.

In return, they'll bring out a new one, exactly the same model as you have.

That should do it. Let us know if there are any further issues.
