General Electric fire danger

We purchased a GE electric cooktop that has needed multiple repairs and been nothing but trouble.

Within three years of purchase, thermostats in several burners started failing with disastrous results of ruined pans, and great fire danger. A burner on its lowest heat setting would suddenly result in the burner automatically being reset to the highest setting. This would happen with absolutely no notice.

I contacted the GE consumer department and received a letter stating they would replace a burner if another one gave out within three months. Of course that never happened in that precise time frame.

The last time I called the GE repairman to replace another burner, I was told the parts are no longer available. Although the stove was a top model and installed in 1996 it is now useless. We have paid more for repairs than the stove cost originally.

I am replacing the cooktop and would never consider another GE cooktop.

We also purchased all new stainless steel GE Profile appliances for our remodeled kitchen, including: (high end) Dishwasher, Advantium and (high end) Cook top with Stainless Steel knobs. A month after our purchase, the top rack of our dishwasher fell down in a lopsided fashion. We called GE who sent a repairman out a week later. The repairman said a part that was welded broke and was not able to be repaired. He ordered a replacement, which was delivered several days later.

One night, within two weeks of having the replacement, my husband and I fell asleep in our Family Room where I was awakened several hours later by an acrid odor. I recognized it as an hot electrical odor and hurriedly went around the Family Room checking every electric gadget and appliance we have in there to no avail. The house was filled with the heavy smell and I became scared and awoke my husband. He smelled it instantly and began to look, too. He found the Dishwasher so hot he couldn't touch it with his bare hand. He opened it with a pot holder and discovered the drying element was still on several HOURS after I had run it after supper!

The spinners had liquefied and the bottom basket had warped and the plastic covering had also melted and both had made a puddle of plastic on the bottom of the tub. There is no doubt that had I not woke when I did we would have had a full out fire with my husband in the Family Room and our Grandson and his friend asleep in his room! I called GE who sent out the same repairman who had replaced the first unit about three weeks prior. I expected, of course, the Dishwasher would be replaced and immediately said I did not want that same Dishwasher because number 1 it's obviously a bad model and number 2 it's a fire hazard.

Imagine my surprise when he told me that it could be repaired and he would not be recommending that it be replaced because they would just tell him to repair the unit! I got on the phone with a Tech Support supervisor who told me they would not replace the unit because the repairman said it could be repaired! I told him what happened and that the unit would have gone into flame if I hadn't woke up and could have killed my family as we slept! I advised him that the model should be recalled as a fire hazard. I said the unit had gotten so hot it liquefied the spinners and warped the basket so there is no way that the motor wouldn't have been affected. He told me they would replace the unit for 50% of the price!

Fortunately we had gotten an extended warranty with Lowes, so immediately upon hanging up after giving him a piece of my mind and telling him that we will NEVER buy another GE appliance, I called Lowes. I told the Assist Store Manager what happened and without hesitation, she told me to bring the unit to the store and pick out the replacement of my choice. Needless to say, the replacement I chose WAS NOT a GE product.

During the time the first Dishwasher broke, the $2, 500.00 Advantium also broke and had a code F3 showing in the display. The repairman examined that unit in the same visit as the Dishwasher. He said the Sensor Pad had gone bad. This appliance was also a month old! He replaced the sensor pad about a month later, since that part had to be ordered.

Well, it is about a year later and I'm listening to the beeping of a code F3 on the Advantium again. Apparently the Sensor Pad has again gone bad. As for the third GE appliance that we purchased for the remodeling of our kitchen, the high end cook top with the stainless steel knobs: it actually came with black plastic knobs. There was a small piece of paper that said if you wanted the stainless steel knobs, which cost more, you had to "call this number." I called several times and have never received the knobs that I paid a premium for.

We will NEVER buy another GE product. It's junk and they do not stand behind their products.

General Electric terrible experience

I own a group of apartment buildings in the Chicago metropolitan area. I purchase major appliances an average of once per month. (refrigerator, stove and dishwashers). General Electric has a way of voiding their warranty by charging $90.00 for a service man to examine the appliance. THEN they charge DOUBLE the cost of labor thus discouraging any further investigation by the owner to continue the claim.

To compound the felony: GE calls up and ADVISES the customer the cost effectiveness of discarding the broken appliance altogether and purchase a new one!

By the way: GE has sold their appliance division because of precipitously falling sales.

I bought a G.E. Profile Refrigerator PFS22SISBSS about two years ago, if that. It has been a problem for me from nearly the beginning. The shelves in the french doors have cracked down the middle on three of the shelves. The tracking on the crisper has broken. The glides on both sides of the freezer have cracked. The plastic has no resilence at all. And, on top of this the electronic temperature indicator is off and on and off. What is going on here? Before this refrigerator, my appliances have been lasting 20+ years. They have had a lot of use, but have done so well. I continue to use a Whirlpool washer and dryer that are 22+ years old. I will never buy another G.E. appliance. G.E. has chosen to not stand behind their product, since I have tried contacting them three times to resolve this issue. On Oct. 1, 2008 they told me that for $60 I could have a service man come out to look at the appliance and write a report for G.E. Then, when I waited for the service man to show up on Oct 10th, I called G.E. only to find out they had cancelled the service call and did not bother to let me know. On top of that, they initially tried to lie to me and say that they had not cancelled the service call. Appliance Dr. forwarded me the email that indicated that G.E. did cancell the call! I am very disappointed with this company G.E.!

General Electric fraud & scam

We bought an extended war form A.&E factory service, which we thought was through general electric corp., which expired on 6-7-08 on or about the first of dec. 2007 we had a blade break off in the ice dispenser and called Gen. Elec. and was told to call A&E, we were told that a service man would contact us for a time to repair, we have called at least five times and today we were told out protection agreement was expired and that they do not have a service man contact us for a time. That is what we were told, I have four major G.E. appliances, but will never buy another G.E. product!

General Electric they are really bad

I came across some blogs on the ge cafe line discussing issues. You won't believe this... We spent $7k on the cafe line of appliances. We had to replace the microwave three times... The dishwasher twice... And the refrigerator doors once. Unbelievable! We requested ge to take all of the appliances back and they refused. They gave us a measly 4 year extended warranty that we demanded for the dysfunctional appliances. Here were the problems:

Microwave: 1st: dented left lower side; dent upper left side; venting would open and close twice and then stay closed with the microwave on. 2nd: dents again in the lower left; key pad visual became distorted so you couldn't read anything 3rd: dents in the lower left again and the key pad went completely out!

Dishwasher: 1st: door was crooked on tub (Bent); water leaked on the top control panel from condensation; leak in rubber seal on left side of door. 2nd: installer filled dishwasher with two large glasses of water to prime pump; he turned dishwasher on; all of the water came pouring out on the floor; inspection revealed the dishwasher came with a nut missing on the clamp that holds the motor female end that attaches to the male end that goes into the dishwasher tub.

Refrigerator: 1st: right door dented; left door ice maker/water dispenser frame dented; water leaked out from capture tray behind the frame and on to the front of the door onto the floor. 2nd: icemaker/water dispenser frame not latched on lower left side (Sticks out): began leaking water again.

Awaiting ge appt to repair.

No problems (Yet with dual fuel range). Dishwasher stays wet after cycle; rep sent bottle of staydry to fix it!

Don't buy ge cafe; don't buy ge period as they work with iran!

General Electric we will never purchase ge again

We have a GE Profile range, the stovetop cracked and is continuing to crack when the burners are used. We did not do anything to make this initial crack happen other than normal use of the stove. We tried to get the part replaced and GE said it has been discontinued and there is nothing they can do. We feel GE should do something to remedy the problem since we cannot safely use the range now. We will never purchase GE again if they do not help with this problem, can they replace with a new range or at least partial cost of a new range.

I had GE Monogram appliances in my home from [protected]. The refrig. Was great, the wall ovens were so bad I finally pulled them out. In this home I moved to in 06 there was a GE monogram wall oven, GE Advantium, and warming oven. Also, a GE Monogram refrig. that I added to match. The oven is a nightmare. Nothing cooks properly in it, just like the old ones I had. The refrig. is nothing like the old one. It produces tons of mold from the rear center vent system. Must be thoroughly emptied and cleaned weekly to control it. My daughter recently asked me what to get for her kitchen remodel, my response, "anything but GE."

We built a new home about 2 years ago, and installed stainless steel GE appliances We thought they had exceptional quality and service and was confident in our choice. We were wrong.

Within 4 months after installation, the number 9 on the black control panel of our built in oven bubbled up. A technician came out and looked at it, ordered the black control panel, and returned to install it. Repeat that same experience 4 times, (8 visits)always the 9 bubbling up. With only a year warranty, and it continuing to happen, GE did extend our warranty six more months, which ran out 12/5/2010, and it has happened again, of course, but with it not being repaired now, the number 4 above it it now bubbling up.

When calling the service department and at times being very frustrated because I wanted a “permanent fix” to this problem, a couple options were suggested by the assistant on the phone. There was a recall on the almond and white build-in ovens, I could have a white or almond control panel installed on my stainless steel appliance. Live with it, it doesn’t affect the operation of the unit. When the warranty runs out, I will just pay for the replacement panel my self, or the best one, “ You can always buy a new oven.”

Yes, I realize it doesn’t affect the operation of the appliance, however the look is not attractive, and the few times I use the 9, it feels as if it will crack if I push it. A couple of the service technicians thought it may have to do with the latch inside the oven since the 9 is directly above that and I think one even replace a part, however, it is bubbled again. The 9 is not a commonly used number in baking, and we have never used the self cleaning option.

After much frustration, and the same problem being fixed four times in 18 month, I took the extreme action of writing to Jeffrey Immelt, CEO of GE. I received no response (no surprise) from him or any of his people.

We bought GE Profile Refrigerator and GE Profile Dishwasher about 3 months ago and both of them are not working properly

GE Profile Refrigerator compressor make huge tremendous noise and GE dined to replace the compressor since it will bring more issue to a unit and GE Profile Dishwasher does not clean dishes and also smart dispenser on dishwasher does not function properly. We will never buy GE appliance again. GE profile appliances are expensive and they do not work proper and GE has the worst customer service where they do not care about customers after they sell their junk appliances

General Electric dishwasher leaves soap on everything

Bought a GE dishwasher last May and our friends bought a slightly different model. Now both machines, just approaching the 1 year mark, are leaving the dishes covered in a soap film.

My husband is very handy and has taken the machine apart and cleaned everything, but nothing seems to help.

At first we thought the problem was our well water, but our friends are on city water. We then thought the problem was the soap we are using, but again our friends use different dish soap, but have the same problem.

The bottom line: do not buy a GE dishwasher unless you are ready to throw it away a year later!

Technician also refuse to replace the refund the product as well and to deal with GE customer service rep is the worst experience because they do not listen your problem and they do think we are calling just for refund or replacement. They do not have any plan or curtsy to help the customers. I would stay, STAY AWAY FROM GE APPLIANCE

General Electric nightmare

If GE Monogram put more effort in designing a quality product than marketing it as a quality product perhaps it would work correctly. I have had my GE Monogram Trivection Oven for 2 months and have used it all of twelve times before it failed completely. I am now on my third service call and the oven still does not work. The repairman cannot even access the service menu. I have also been treated rudely by GE customer service agents. GE finally agreed to replace the oven, but I am on day 48 without an oven. Worst customer service ever.

General Electric do not buy ge adora

Do not buy GE Adora Washers or Dryers; we are now trying to get service for our second washer and dryer in less than two years. The first set bought at our local Home Depot was leaking and having running issues and one (we think dryer) putting holes in new clothes. Home Depot after three repairs helped us with GE to get replacements but the new washer just ate my 8month olds overalls and cut the rubber boot on front door. We are still getting holes in clothes. The second set was the top models one above our previous which were all around 1K each machine. Not sure yet if they will cover the rip in washer boot. I wish I knew a good brand but many have issue in less than a year, crazy to spend 2K every year

Do not buy microwave from GE and customer service won't help you. Terrible . I won't ever ever buy any product from GE

I bought this Microwave summer 2016 at Home Depot, unfortunately I lost the receipt. In less than one year this Microwave start acting out. This is very expensive Microwave because it is convection oven as well. When I called GE customer service they told me, I don't have any receipt to prove when I bought the Microwave, and they told me this Microwave was purchased in January 2015. I told how could that be because I bought my house in July 2016 and move in August. I bought the microwave cash, unfortunately Home Depot has no record. There is no way I could have bought before that. They refused to help me with warranty. They have to charge me to send a technician out to my house. The technician came, he charged me $106.83, plus I ordered a part for almost $100. When another technician came, he said he wasn't the part now I had to order another part and I had to return the old one. Miraculously the microwave started working by itself for about 2 months. Now I don't what to don't want pay any more money. This is very frustrating. This is the worst product I have ever bought . I need help GE consumer with this Microwav

Don't buy GE Adora period. We had our kitchen remodeled 2.5 years ago and put in all new GE Adora appliances. EVERY single one of our appliances has required a repair already. I would never buy GE appliances again. Also, my mom has GE Profile appliances and many of the digitized communications are misspellt or written phoenetically and not correctly. I can see why GE has gotten out of the appliance sector. I've been extremely disappointed.

Cristi,
I totally agree with your comment. I am so sick of my clothes being ruined. My son's swim jersey was ruined and cannot be replaced. Expensive basketball shorts gone. I felt around the washer and can't find any sharp object the clothes would be getting stuck on. Thank you for your post, unfortunately my GE just expired before I could figure out what the cause was.

I also had the same problem with the GE Adora washer putting holes in our clothes. I had a service man out here a couple weeks ago and he knew exactly what the problem was - they had to replace the rubber seal on the inside of the washer door. He said that they realized last year that it was a problem and have been replacing them when called. I was a little perplexed at why they weren't replaced during install if there has been such a "problem" with them. So far there haven't been any holes in our clothes, but I went through about 8 months of getting holes in our clothes before realizing it wasn't something I was doing, but a problem with the product.

The other issue that I HATE about this washer is that there is no "spin" cycle, only a "rinse and spin" cycle. This is my first front loading washer, so I never even thought to look for just a "spin" option. The washer unbalances A LOT (especially when washing sheets and other items). If it's unbalanced, it will continually run the "rinse and spin" cycle until everything balances out and spins out well. How is THAT energy efficient? If it gets too unbalanced, I usually will stop the washer, pull out soaking wet clothes to try and balance them out. It sometimes works, but definitely not all the time. Over all, I am not too impressed with this washer and won't buy another GE. I am very nervous that once September hits and our warranty is up, we'll be in big trouble!

General Electric they were very rude and did not seem to care

Within less than two weeks my brand-new GE profile had to be repaired for multiple reasons. I called GE corporation and they were the rudest people ever. I explained to them that their product was a factory reject and I should have stayed with Sears Kenmore. Two days later my factory reject machine "broke" again and I told Lowes to come and get it. The two GE repairmen were worthless. They thought that they had "fixed" the problem, when all they did was camouflage. Lowes servicemen came to get the useless machine which leaked all the way out of the house.

General Electric not working right!

This pertains to a GE Profile product. When my husband and I invested in remodeling our kitchen, we considered the options and – deciding to go with what we felt would be good quality – we purchased the full set of matching GE Profile appliances. Unfortunately, after only a few months, the refrigerator started having some major problems. First of all, both sides of the refrigerator started freezing up; it wasn't cooling properly and we literally had to constantly chip away big chunks of ice on the refrigerator side. Imagine our frustration and dismay when, after all these years of buying different brands of refrigerators without any major problems, one of the most expensive refrigerators we've purchased posed such a ridiculous issue.

Further, our agitation was increased by the fact that the GE repair technician visited many times and was still not able to resolve the problem. Not only were the numerous visits an inconvenience, but as an entrepreneur with a hectic schedule, such appointments also disrupt my business (cumbersome as the repair appointments are, since it takes one visit for the GE technician to assess the situation and then an additional one for him to try to fix it). The customer service representatives also indicated that GE would not provide me with a new refrigerator — even if the one we'd purchased is a lemon; what kind of customer service is that? It's certainly not the level of service that would be expected from a company that boasts a reputation of quality and service. GE's motto is, GE cares. They need to change that.

After so much aggravation I called corporate headquarters and GE finally agreed to exchange the lemon refrigerator/GE profile. We wish we could say that the situation has had a completely favorable outcome…. However, the frustration continues because this new refrigerator heats up and is not cooling the food properly. Once again we're facing the repair calls. The technician that came out said the cooling system is not working. It's like the engine of a car not functioning. I called corporate once again to let them know of the dilemma with their GE Profile product. Instead of giving me a new refrigerator that works properly, they will once again try and fix the problems.

You would think that when a consumer buy's one of GE's supposedly top of the line products, a consumer would get what they paid for, refrigerators that work properly, not lemons. I am not sure where GE's quality went. My parents said that GE had great products at one time and good customer service relations. As that saying goes, things change. One thing is for sure, GE does not need to worry about laying off their service technicians or personnel in their customer complaints department. Especially, when their quality assurance department doesn't seem to exist. After all, a most basic function of a refrigerator is to maintain food at a cool/safe temperature...

We know that were just two consumers, but we also want others to be aware of the type of product that GE sells to the consumer. We also lose a lot of money in groceries because the refrigerator does not do what it is supposed to do, not cooling and maintaining the food at a safe temperature. So, not only are we inconvenienced with a poor product that is not performing, but now we were also even losing money because the food is spoiling. Were sure that the Principles/Officers for GE, would not find this such a circumstance acceptable either if they were dealing with such a problem in their home.

We feel it is important for consumers to be aware of the problems that we are encountering. There are many other brands/products that can be purchased instead. We have never encountered such problems with any other brands/appliances we purchased. One thing is for sure, we will never purchase a GE product again. We will also never recommend GE products to anyone.

Sincerely,

J C

I am having the same problem. The first refrigerator did not work properly and they exchanged another one for me but I had to spend more money. This one is a side by side GE refrigerator. I think all of us should get together and contact Corporate Headquaters and possibly the news media.

General Electric sub-standard service!

As far as I'm concerned your a "Nooobody" when you make a purchase at Lastman's Bad Boy. Unfortunately we didn't research Bad Boy's background before making our recent purchase at the Kennedy & Lewrence Ave store in Scarborough Ontario. We are finding out how poor their customer service has turned out to be.

Our recent purchase was a freezer-top GE refrigerator and GE standalone range. Fortunately both items were in stock and delivered promptly, however upon delivery (we had paid the delivery fee) the movers had a hard time bringing the items in. I would have thought they are professionals and would know what they are doing. It turns out they backed their truck up under our lawn tree and broke a few tree branches, leaving the branches thrown aside. Upon later inspection of our fridge, we noticed a 1 inch "ding" or "dent" on the side. It seems they used a little too much force pushing the fridge through the front door. I work for a large car dealership. Do you think anyone would want to take delivery of their new car with a door ding? What makes you think I pay full price for a new appliance and pay for delivery only to receive damaged goods?

My first indication that Bad Boy's service is bad was upon my first call to the store. I was looking to make a complaint regarding the delivery and was greeted by a friendly receptionist who told me the "delivery" department was not available but, if I held she would be back to help me. Twenty minutes on hold and an annoying hold message seemed to go on and on. "Nooobody" returned on the line to answer my call. I hung up.

After experiencing their poor customer service I would have rather taken my money and business elsewhere. Unfortunately as many people here have pointed out, "ALL" their sales are final (they make sure to conveniently circle that on the sales slip). And to make matters worse, we purchased the "Bad Boy" extended warranty on our items. I am now shaking my head wondering what kind of lousy service we are going to get if we ever run into a problem in the next 5 years.

I almost always make my appliance and electronics purchases with Costco Canada. Their products are top-notch and their prices, returns and exchanges, refunds, and warranty policies are second to none. Unfortunately they didn't have what we we're looking for in this case (product selection).

Is it that "Bad Boy" is understaffed? Or that they don't care? How would I know, they still haven't called me back. You'd expect more from a company which prides itself on being a family owned business for 60 years.

As far as I'm concerned the only place bad boys belong is in the slammer. Don't be a "NOOOBODY"! It's been now our 3rd time leaving a message for a callback, and still no reply from anyone.

General Electric - class-action suit on refrigerator moisture!

A recent visit by a GE service person (who was replacing and fixing some parts on our dishwasher due to their recent recall) advised us on the class-action suit GE had regarding moisture problems with a certain line of refrigerators. After a brief look at ours he stated it was one on the list. I took the time to look up this class-action suit on GE...

General Electric scratched appliance!

I ordered a GE CAFE dual fuel range and it came with a broken leveling leg and bottom oven drawer would not shut all the way on one side. Some one from GE came to fix it and said it could not be fixed because the frame was bent. Someone must have dropped it. I just had another stove delivered on Feb. 12, 2008 and it came with scratches on the control panel. I called GE when the delivery people were here and they told me I can't refuse delivery because it is a replaceable part. That seems crazy to me. So if there was a dent in the door I have to accept delivery and have someone come fix it. Confused here. Needless to say I already had to miss 3 days of work and now have to miss another to have the repair guy come back out. Would not even take $ off because it is a replaceable part. Good old GE!

General Electric profile harmony dryer stopped working!

I had a GE Proflie Harmony Gas Dryer which stopped drying after three years. When I called Sears which is where I bought it from to come out and look at the dryer they told me it would cost 700.00 to repair. The Dryer itself cost about 1,000.00. The parts for this dryer are very expensive. I almost had a heart attack. Well at that cost it made more sense to just purchase another dryer since they were on sale for about the same cost. I decided to email GE since I also have the washing machine that matches the dryer, and 7 other GE appliances that I purchased all on the same day, but they refused to answer my email.
When I finally got a chance to call them on the phone they bounced me around between four different people. One was more rude than the other. I told them I would like an explanation as to how these parts could die out in three years, and if they would give me some assistance with having to purchase the new dryer.

Well they could not answer any of my questions and offered to do nothing to help me with my situation. I am very disgusted with GE, and disgusted that a dryer which should last at least 15 years, only lasted 3.

I too have had my GE harmony for three years and one month the dryer stopped heating it would be approximately 400-500 to repair the blower motor. I have never heard after three years of a major part like that going out. Needless to say we purchased this dryer because we thought it would last. All of the appliances in my home are GE. I will never purchase from them again.

General Electric Failure to honor warranty!

This is a complaint against the General Electric Company for refusing to honor their stated warranty on a dishwasher installed in September 2007. Briefly, the new General Electric dishwasher we purchased has a stainless steel tub. Shortly (i.e. 2 weeks) after installation a number of small, pinhead-sized pits in the surface of the stainless tub were noticed due to rust rings forming around them. The area covered by these pits continues to spread. We now regularly scrub the rust off to avert possible health hazards associated with rust particulates clinging to “clean” dishes and silverware.

A GE service technician confirmed this was not normal and that there was a defect. He put us in touch with Consumer Relations who told us the warranty does not apply for defects like this. We subsequently sent a letter to GE. The only response to this letter was to have someone in their Consumer Relations department call and reiterate that they would not honor the warranty.

Interestingly, this person in Customer Relations, after hearing a description of the defect, agreed something was wrong and that this was not normal; but asserted that GE will not honor their stated warranty in this instance. In speaking with this GE representative, I pointed out the following:

· If this is truly a stainless steel tub how can it rust? Assuming GE is not defrauding the public with their claim that this dishwasher is equipped with a stainless steel (i.e. will not rust) tub, then the alternate explanation for the pitting and resulting rust on this brand new dishwasher is that there was a fault in the manufacturing process causing this defect.

· I also observed that the GE Warranty clearly states that “Any part of the dishwasher which fails due to a defect in materials or workmanship... GE will provide, free of charge, all labor and in-home service to replace the defective part.” There are no stated exclusions for defects caused by pitted surfaces in the stainless steel tub or for the resulting unhealthy rust build-up.

GE’s service technician, mentioned above, along with their Customer Relations representative, agreed that the new GE dishwasher we purchased is defective. This defect clearly and substantially reduces the expected useful life of this appliance. I am asking your assistance in contacting the General Electric Company on our behalf and persuading it to honor their stated warranty.

I have had 4 appts to have a GE tech come out and check my dishwasher which has been leaking. The first appt the tech, Robert, called me at 3:45 pm to cancel as he was busy on another job. This on a Friday afternoon with no one to call since the service center had already closed. 2nd appt tech Tim shows up says it's the gasket, has ge send us new gasket. 3rd visit tech Dave shows up to install gasket. Dishwasher still leaking. Call GE they send tech Dave out again to see what's up on the same day. Tech Dave takes apart the door and low and behold there is tons of condensation which was causing the leak in the first place. Engineers tell him to lower my hot water heater temp from 130 to 120 and that should stop the problem. Really, that's a crock of crap. Of course that doesn't help, 5th call today Tech Tim comes back out again at 4:25 pm and says there is screw lose and that's the cause which is BS and then has the nerve to tell me that's all he can do and that I should call GE in the morning to deal with it. SERIOUSLY GE IS THIS HOW YOU TREAT YOUR CUSTOMERS! I AM SO OVER GE YOU HAVE NO IDEA. I have never experienced such crappy customer service. Mind you this dishwasher is not even a year old AND it's the replacement for my old one that was recalled due to fire hazard. Now I have to call GE Customer Relations tomorrow morning and start all over again. GE should be calling me to apologize and pay me for all the hours of work I missed to sit here waiting and waiting for this ingnorant repair/tech guys. I basically threw Tim out of my house for his complete ignorance and snotty attitude. Does anyone have a suggestions on what to do? I swear I'm going to sue GE and blast them on all and any blogs I can find.

I agree---they should honor the warranty. Consumers are not steel experts. My dishwasher from GE is 1.4 years old----they installed the tube wrong---loose clamp--and tub was not holding water. MFR defective assembly. Since it is past the 1 year, they charge me 125 for the guy to install the clamp correctly. I am going to contact the BBB. If a factory goofs, consumers should never have to pay anything! They sucked me into a 5 years service warranty today...but at $203 I feel it is worth it since they charge around $325 per visit. I hope I made the right choice. I think they deserve a class action suit. ssmmcrae5@aol.com and we need to contact BBB and file suit and despute charges through the creditcard.

What you may not understand is that not all stainless steel is truly "stainless". The corrosion inhibiting characteristics is dependent on the grade of stainless steel being manufactured. Typically, residential appliances utilize a lesser grade of stainless steel, than say, a commercial grade stainless steel appliance.

The presence of rust means that there is iron present in the composition of the stainless steel; true stainless steel is non-ferrous, or in other words, contains no significant trace amounts of iron.

The best test: use a magnet. If a magnet will attach to stainless steel then it is a low grade stainless steel.

So, in short, GE most likely feels that the corrosion and rust is not a defect at all, since they specified a lesser grade of "stainless steel" in an appliance which you (and many others) subsequently bought.

Asko (Swedish) and Bosch (German) make excellent stainless cabinet models with high grade stainless steel that are comparable in price to domestic brands with stainless steel cabinets.

So much for American quality!

General Electric scam and cheating!

I see in this page and many websites the complaints of many customers about service representatives or appliances... so i want to post my point of view of the other side as a service representative... We understand how difficult could be purchase an appliance and that after one day is not working, but that doesn't mean that you can use abusive language or yell or insult us... cause were are not the ones that made the product, besides we are working in a call center to answer the phone and help you... but if you customer does not let us help you who will, we just follow orders of the company so is not our fault if the tech doesn't show up or if there is no available within 2 weeks or one, we just make our job the way they ask us to do it we follow rules and policies too... if the customer is nice we will go the extra mile to help cause we understand the situation but with you yelling, screaming, insulting we will not be able to to do anything, some of us are latinamericans working to live and to be paid even the payment is not that good... and all you can do is yell and make the other people feel less than you just because they don't talk or write like a north american person... we are here just to help you and even is not the best english you have listen, no matter were we are if you are sure of the number you call you can be sure that we will help you... without us you will not be able to schedule or resolve the situation so try to be in someone else shoes!

General Electric ge profile spacemaker oven!

A few years ago I purchased a GE Profile Space Saver microwave convection oven. It has been used less than a dozen times, as it is second oven and also have a separate microwave oven. I only used on the holidays when I have company. I recently opened the door and the handle came off and the plastic on the door cracked. I find this very disturbing, as it has hardly even been used and never been abused. This is a sign of poor workmanship and materials used.

I called GE and am informed that I will have to pay for the labor and parts for something that is the fault of their poor quality in manufacturing.

General Electric ge customer service

http://www.geappliances.com/

10-29-07 AM called [protected] for my SCA1000DWW Microwave door handle was broken issue, instead of buying a handle I have ordered a whole door for an easier replacement by myself.
the door costs me $210.50 by shipped out overnight, with a lady confirmed over the phone I could pay extra $10.00 to get this shipment next day which is 10-30-07, in stead of to wait for a ground shipment 5~7 days.
10-30-07 afternoon around 2:45PM I still not received my over night shipment nor any email tracking info. I have called back the same number [protected], this time the lady name Terri said the package is out but no one could give me a tracking info. since its an over night package, after two more calls and waited for a long time on the phone, Terri said call [protected] for my shipping charge refund., I called [protected] the lady Christine x-7518 told me the shipment did send out by FEDEX over night, and I need to wait until 8PM to make sure the over night shipment to be my address. at this point no one knows the tracking number nor any email notice about my shipment.
10-31-07 Morning 9:00am still not see my over night shipment from GE, I have called [protected] this time is Linda answering the call and told me the part did go out 10-30-07 that means I will receive it 10-31-07 as an over night shipment to them, I told Linda since I have made an order get all confirmation that I will have my shipment ship to me by over night and receive by next day which is 10-30-07 not 10-31-07, she said its my problem for ordering late, not her problem sending out one day late, I request my over night shipping charge credit back, she said that is only $3.00 back, over all I am still waiting for my shipment and did not have any tracking info. for this package, I am not happy with their service and spading $210.00 just for replace a microwave door, I feel bad for using GE products, at this point I will like to see any one has the same feeling as me with these people doing customer service job but did not even care about a customer's feeling and concern!
I have emailed GE service on line but only got one answer back only give you whole bunch numbers to call ...
if there is any one could say any thing try to make a different...
I will be happy to see it happen...

I had the same experience with my GE crock pot (purchased from Walmart approx. a year ago) This past weeked my crock pot had an electrical short where the electrical cord attaches to the pot. If I had not had the pot on a cutting board it would have ruined the kitchen counter top! Very Unsafe...
Defeats one of the major reasons for using a crock pot... i.e. cooking while I'm away...I checked Walmart but they do not have a similar replacement model...mine had an 8 quart capacity. And why would I want another GE anyway? I mean this was a "G.E" product...don't they know how to secure an electrical connection... Come on GENERAL "ELECTRIC"!

General Electric Be aware of GE service!

June 19, 2007 Mr. Ray Graft GE Appliance Headquarters AP6 Rm 129 Louiseville, KY 40225 Dear Mr. Graft, I thought you should be aware of the service my family has received from General Electric (GE).

We purchased a washing machine back on January 22, 2007, GE King Size Capacity for $449.99 Serial Number SL159521G, Model Number WBB4500G0WW. We chose not to purchase Best Buy's extended warranty due to GE's reputation. At the beginning of March, we needed to place a service call, as the machine wasn't spinning properly, therefore our laundry was dripping wet. I don't recall the exact date, but I believe it was approximately March 10th. We called Best Buy. They sent a GE technician. At that time, he said we would need multiple parts to fix the machine and that it would take approximately 1 week for the parts to arrive. Since we're a family of 5, I couldn't wait for the Best Buy/GE technician. We then called GE directly, who at the time was very helpful and advised me to call them immediately if something should happen in the future. Our machine was repaired by a GE technician, on March 21st. On May 27th, I noticed that the machine wasn't spinning properly again ' this time however, the machine was bouncing all over the place ' but fortunately the clothes were still being rung out.

I placed a call on Monday, May 28th; still GE was extremely professional while setting up another GE service call. The GE technician was scheduled to come out on Thursday, May 31st between 1:00 ' 5:00 pm. The technician called around 4:00, asking if we could reschedule. We told him unfortunately we couldn't reschedule because we took time out of work to make this appointment. The technician showed up at approximately 4:30, took the machine apart and assessed the machine. He determined that he needed to order several parts: WH45X152WH45X10022WH02X1193WH45X10060WH2X1193 He told us that it could take up to one week for the parts to arrive, at which time he would reschedule a service call and repair the equipment. He left the equipment inoperatible, therefore once again; we were unable to use a new piece of equipment that we had just installed less than 3 months prior. We called many people, asking what could be done. We didn't document all the calls but we did document a few:6/1/2007: Spoke to Liz6/1/2007: Spoke to Cynthia6/1/2007: Spoke to Bondra6/1/2007: Spoke to Aaron ' nothing he can do. We'll have to wait until the equipment is shipped before they can give me an estimated repair date. He offered to extend our one-year warranty to August 2007, since his records showed that we purchased the equipment on May 12, 2006. When I told him that my receipt was dated 1/22/2007, he told me that I would have to fax him this info so that he could correct the information. He told me that the equipment would be sent overnight to me once it arrived in the warehouse. When I asked him where the warehouse was, he told me that he couldn't tell me. He told me that someone would be in touch regarding the repair of my machine.6/4/2007: Spoke to Cynthia ' Still no word from GE, she looked at the file and said she 'thought' the equipment would be overnighted, but couldn't be certain.

She then referred me to the Shipping department. 6/4/2007: Cynthia transferred me to Tanya ' she couldn't help me and said I'd need to talk to Service. I told her Service just told me I needed to talk to Shipping. I then asked to talk to a Manager.6/4/2007: Tanya transferred me to Ashley ' she was helpful and told me that she was certain the equipment was shipping overnight and that if we didn't receive it by 6/6, 6/7 or 6/8, then our equipment would be replaced. She was able to provide the order # 2992784 and the case # 7387145.6/8/2007: Still hadn't received the parts or a phone call from GE.6/8/2007: Spoke to Rhodora ' who told me that Ashley was incorrect and that there wasn't any Ashley who worked in Virginia. She told me that the review group had 24-48 hours to get back to me. They had to determine whether or not the machine would be replaced. I told her that was unacceptable and that I had been without a washing machine for much too long and that I was tired of getting the run around. She told me that we could go around and around, but that the rule states that I need to wait. I then got extremely angry and asked to talk to her Manager.6/8/2007: Spoke to Mr. Wilson ' who told me the same exact thing. There is nothing he could do and he needed to give this case to the review group. I asked him if there was a way to expedite the request since I had only had my machine for 4 months and out of those 4 months it was inoperatible for approximately 1 month. He said no, there was nothing he could do and that I would hear from GE no later than Tuesday, June 12, 2007.6/8/2007: I then contacted Best Buy as a last resort and explained the run around I was receiving from GE. The Best Buy employee conversed with her Manager, who decided this service was unacceptable, and he or she approved the return. We returned our GE washing machine and purchased a Whirlpool washing machine.6/16/2007: The GE parts arrived 16 days after the GE technician placed the order addressed to the incorrect person who doesn't live at our address. I still hadn't received a call from GE in regards to the Review groups' decision.

6/19/2007: Spoke to Ms. Johnson at GE, who informed me that her records show that GE called me on 6/11/2007 to inform me that a replacement was denied. I never received this call. I explained that I no longer had the GE washing machine. She told me that she would place the shipment return call and that I would receive a Return # that I would need to place on the boxes. I told her that I was leaving for vacation and that I would just leave it outside or maybe I should just throw them away since I don't have the machine any longer. She then told me that I would be charged for the parts. I told her that I would have to review my options and call her back and that after all GE has put me and my family through ' I WOULD NOT pay GE not even one more penny. I am extremely frustrated with GE's customer service and how unprofessional most of the individuals I spoke to acted. I will never again purchase a GE product. I feel that as a paying consumer, I deserve better than that. I deserve a machine that operates for more than just 3 months, and if it does happen to break, I deserve a little more compassion than what I received. I am telling everyone my story, and it's sad because once I start mentioning what happened to me, others have received the same type of treatment from GE. It's a shame that this continues, but hopefully by sharing my story of my ill treatment from GE, I will reach others and GE will be forced to treat their paying customers as they should be treated. Thank you for your time with this matter.

Wendy Bonneau CC: Best Buy, Salem NH Better Business Bureau Consumer Relations.

Unfortunately, while doing extensive research on various appliances for my kitchen redo, I have to conclude that ALL manufacturers have the same type of problems/complaints. Most of these companies use overseas customer service who do not really care about American wining about various issues. We must accept the fact that customer service no longer exist in the US. Pride of customer (from stores) or consumer (from manufacturers) service and the quality of products are no longer important to anyone; and as a result, consumers such as you and I suffer. The bottom line is that we can now expect to pay way more than $500 on basic appliances and in return, we can be assured that these appliances won't last the year or perhaps 2-3 at most. Sad world we now live in!

I am also having major problems with a Jenn-Air double wall oven I purchased years ago from Circuit City. We have an extended warranty with only 1 service person in the area that will work on our products. He's a total jerk who doesn't return phone calls, schedule the appts., show up for appts. etc. Even after complaining of this infuriating service contractor, GE/Circuit City doesn't have any alternatives. GE got involved, I was promised a new wall oven would be delivered, installed and the old one removed. They delivered the GE wall oven today. It's sitting in my dining room. The old one is still in place. The delivery company doesn't do wall ovens. Now another 1/2 hour on hold conversation with the warranty company...We have to turn the circuit breaker on and off to use it. The fan keeps running and the bottom oven doesn't work at all. This has been going on for about a month now... I can not believe this is the best American companies can do. 15 phone calls, time wasted listening to musac and no oven. It's very frustrating. I was told to write a letter to Mr. Graft but I can see that's not going to do a lot of good.
