Gary Direnfeld tv host, author, columnist for Hamilton Spectator and private practice therapist has plead guilty to 12 counts of professional misconduct with the Ontario College of Social Workers. The College calls Mr. Direnfeld's case unprecedented and his actions dishonourable and disgraceful. The case is still in session at the College today. Members of the panel will decide an appropriate discipline of Mr. Direnfeld.

I am trying to reach a member on this board, John_Smit. I need to reach him since his posting of July 5, 2015.
Mr Smit shares that he was asked to leave Direnfelds office. Though not of a sexual component my husband was also asked to leave his office and wait in his hallway during sessions with his ex wife.
Fortunately Gary's strategy of collusion was left to be recorded as my husband waited to be invited back in.
Anyone who has a similar complaint/s please message here and to me personally.

Keep in mind these are my opinions and mine alone. You need to formulate your own!
This man should have his license revoked as well as jailed for the misuse of power he continues to abuse! If you are a male do all you can to avoid usig this egomaniac in your divorce case. He will with certainty paint all fathers as abusive, and controlling. He will do all he can to engage you in his dungeon he calls an office, which coincidentally he runs from his house!
He will bore you with fabels from garlic, to a stupid analogy of "constantly being kicked in the groin" etc.
He will do all he can to burn through your 3 hour time limit and settle nothing, or at the very least settle on issues she wants resolved and will always favor her wishes! Once you burn through what little cash flow you have (because you are already having problems making ends meet with support payments, child care expenses of your own, your lawyers bills, your daily expenses for you to survive) etc.
He will kick you out of the process because you can no longer afford to pay for the service and will hold closed door sessions with your ex wife and will side with her on all issues!
Avoid this creep! He thinks hes an expert on everything! If you try to find anything on the internet written against him. You will find it difficult as he has done all he can to eliminate any bad mouthing of him on the internet... He threatens to sue anybody who has anything bad to say about him!
As a father embroiled in a divorce you just want the ex out of your life, all the while keeping her in check so that your kids are not adversely affected by her using them to get at you.
In the end I can not stress how important it is to never use this man and to ensure anybody you know is made aware of the havoc he can create if allowed to enter your lives...

The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
The comment above is probably written by him (Gary D) or his wife. The Guy is truly an narcissist who is out of control and should have his license revoked before he destroys other families, especially children. He works closely with CAS Hamilton, where is used to do their dirty work. He claims to be an expert publishing the opinion of "some" of the judges, who have agreed with him (3 of them) but he fails to publish the 99% of the judges opinions, who think this guy is a clown and should have his silence revoked!
His "opinion" in any spousal issue, is that the man is a narcissist and the women is the victim; can't go wrong with that "selling feature" in modern day society: According to him and many women's groups, men ARE ALWAYS the perpetrators and women are the victims. That is not to say that some men are not bad but if you admit that 99% of men are as this monster claims, then only "castrated" males like him, should exist: It is idiots like this monster, who create upheavals in our communities. BUT, Gary D. does have a purpose to all this, "money" at 300$/hour, he is cleaning up and with it his popularity grows, he has found the key to success is exploiting the weak: If he declares that a man is a narcissist, then ANYTHING that person says in his defense Gary D., will claim it is the narcissistic personality speaking - game over! I wonder if it is legal for him to make such a psychological evaluation when he is not a licensed psychologist; this should be reviewed by the Discipline Committee of the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers.

If anyone is a narcissists, it is this clown; have a look at his web sites on how he promotes himself, a true narcissist! Gary, I choose to publish this comment anonymously but if you think this is unjust, please publish a comment to this effect here on this site. My challenge to you would be let's both go before an neutral third party, psychologist for an evaluation and see who of us has psychological issues, especially being a narcissist: On the proviso, we allow the results to go public. I challenge you as a coward, one who will not go on record to have this done because you know of the outcome! STOP EXPLOITING THE PUBLIC, DESTROYING FAMILIES AND CHILDREN IN THE PROCESS!

I have been to see Gary on a few occasions and have found him to be extremely knowledgable and fair in his analysis of my personalmand relationship issues. My husband came with me and he in no way ganged up on him because he's a man. He called me on my issues and did the same for my husband. We did what he said and it saved our marriage. It sounds to me like you choose not to listen to him because you didn't like what he had to say. He tells it like it is, which I find refreshing from the pool of other useless therapists, who will drag out therapy for years and offer no advice. Maybe you need to start listening more and absorbing some of what he and you ex have tried to tell you. He charged us by our income on a sliding scale and didn't try to drag on our time together. If you make the changes he suggests it will help. If you choose not to listen, well you got result he likely tried to spare you from.
