My family and I were out shopping on Sunday February 22, 2008. My husband and I were trying to decide on video games and iteams for the gaming system we would like to purchase. Gamestop was very busy and we decided to go next do and get food to go. I then went back in the store and was stopped by a young man who said they were closed and that there register were shut down, but there were four people in line and other associates were still ring up. Plus the young man allow a lady to walk between us, because she had a pending sale. I explain to this man I knew the iteams I wanted and would like to purchase that day, around $200.00. He said he was sorry but to come back tomorrow they opened at 10:00A.M. I was prepare to spend $168.98 on games and a wireless guitar. However thanks to this young man and his rude manner, I would like to thanks gamestop for me making a big mistake spending my hard earned money at this store or any other gamestop store. I will never shop at a gamestop again. I would like to say I went to walmart and found all the games and iteams for cheaper. Thank you gamestop and thank your associate or manger, you have lost a very good customer.

    My brother in law works for gamestop in NJ. I can tell you first hand that the registers are set to go off at closing time. I too wanted to purchase something ten minutes before closing time one night and there were people in line. He told us to come back tomorrow because the transaction wouldn't be completed by the time 9pm came. Alot of people get mad and go to EB Games but they are both owned by the same company so that's not any punishment for them. Your lucky you weren't part of the guitar hero fiasco. We had a bad drum set and gamestop wouldn't take it back because the manufacturer was supposed to handle any defects. I sent letters and they e-mailed gamestop and told them to accept returns because they couldn't handle the high volume of returns and complaints.

    As an employee of GameStop (not the one you attended, I'm sure) I have to say that I don't think they would stop you from coming because they wanted to. There are some things we just have to do that are part of our job. People get annoyed with me when I ask them if they'd like to reserve a game or subscribe to GameInformer sometimes, but I have to ask those questions. I realize they handled it in a fairly poor manner, but are you sure the rudeness felt was one-sided?? About the bad drum set... GameStop really doesn't take those pieces of equipment. We sell games and gaming equipment, we don't fix them.

    First off, the registers are NOT set to go off at closing time. That is a lie of conveneience. It would take too long to explain the truth, which is they close at 9. Sure, that sounds easy, but there is a lot of hassle involved in it. If you walk up at 9:01 and they go "the computers are shutting down, we're closed" it is a lot easier and nicer on a minimum wage employee than it is to say "sorry, we close at 9, can't let you in."

    This lie is usually perpetuated by the managers, which the employees pick up on. It's unfortunate. These guys are given strict payroll, and get punished for going over. Most gamestops have to be OUT in 30 minutes of closing, depending on the schedule. Sure, the boss could let them have an hour, but payroll doesn't allow that within reason, or they'd suffer all week for it.

    But the man lying to you isn't what gets me, it's this line:

    "Gamestop was very busy and we decided to go next do and get food to go"

    So you were IN THE STORE before close, and decided you didn't feel like waiting in line with the rest of them, went and ate, and you either managed your time poorly and/or got screwed by a slow restaurant, and didn't make it back in time before they closed... and it's the poor minimum wage man's fault for telling you "too bad, so sad?" So he's supposed to bend over backwards, have them get yelled at for going over on their time, and WAIT for you, because you didn't feel like WAITING in line yourself? No. If you wanted it bad enough, you'd have just waited there and ate after a nice 12-18 minute wait in line. Don't blame GameStop, or one employee, or a series of employees, because you tried to avoid an inconveneience and got screwed for it.

    Everyone in the world should have to spend 1 year and 3 months working two jobs as food service and retail. It would start in November of the first year and go until the January of the third. This would give everyone one year of real work, and TWO Christmas seasons. Then everyone would realize the pressure of meeting unreasonable goals for the pitiful money made as well as dealing with ###S who DEMAND their precious "customer service."

    There's a difference between an employee being a complete jerk to you, and you expecting the world to hand you what you want on a silver platter around your schedule.

    Have fun at Wal-Mart until one of those guys presses the wrong button and you swear them off too.

    First of all, it's spelled ITEMS, not ITEAMS. Second of all, nothing annoys me more than last minute shoppers. "I should be let in because I'm a customer!" Yeah, well those employees want to get home and don't want to wait around for you. So next time, pay attention to the time instead of meandering happily around the mall.

    As a manager at Game Stop I would first like to apologize for the rudeness of the associates that you had to deal with. No where in our handbook does it say to be rude to the customer. However there is something you need to understand. It is called running a business. We are given a certain amount of time to clean the store after the store is closed. We are not paid overtime, and can actually get written up, even lose our job for going over on our hours for the week/day. So if you like to call our district manager and explain to him on why we went over the hours for the day just so we could help you out then well be more then happy to help you. Just imagine how many people walk up to the door a few mins after closing, imagine if we let everyone of them in...we would never get to leave and go home. Im not sure where you work but how would you feel if after spending 8hrs at work you had to spend even more time to help the stragglers, or the people that came in like 2 mins before you closed? You wouldn't like it either. So again, I am sorry for the rudeness of the associates that you had to deal with...but I am also sorry for you not be considerate of the people that sell you your items. There is a reason why the hours that we are open are posted on the door...read them, learn them, shop when were open, and dont get mad at us if you aren't there during open hours.

    Ahhh the last minute shopper who doesn't love that customer who walks in 3 minutes before you close and doesn't know what he wants and despite you telling him that you are closing now he doesn't care and is too busy on the phone to pay attention.

    I only got one thing to say just like any business do not come in right before closing or you will not get the best service.

    I bet you never like when your boss gives you something to do 15 minutes before you're supposed to go home for the day, so why would you expect these store lackeys to feel any different?
