Game South Africa / False Avertising

Game South Africa advertises on their website and in store that "we beat any price" no where in store or on their website does it say "Terms and Conditions Apply", however when you want to hold them to their promise they won't honor it. We went to Game in Jeffreysbay today to buy a KIC 160l chest freezer priced at Game for R1999. At OK and at Hirsch's the price is R1579, which the Manager of Game confirmed telephonically, however, they say that they will only match the price if the other store has stock. That is not what is advertised and there are no terms and conditions apply anywhere but they say that that is their company policy. We contacted a lawyer friend of ours while instore and he said that if they do not have "Terms and Conditions apply" they have to give it to us at the price of R1579. But they refused! This is not about the money but about the stores getting away with absolutely anything even if it is not legal. What can be done about this!?

Throughout the years Game was well known by consumers for their very reasonable prices and wide variety of products. But it seems though prices have gone up ridiculously and the variety has decreased. It is illegal to advertise a product for a certain price and not stick with the same price in the store. Same as advertising a product and not really selling it in a store just to attract customers, this is false and misleading advertising. I would like to see Game step it up, on a good note I have been to several Game branches throughout the country and I've always been helped with a smile.
