Pilgrim Furniture City 5 piece bedroom set

We have spent so much money on this furniture set. Two pieces were received very damaged. Several attempts have been made for assistance without success. Currently, we are unable to use the bed frame because it is falling apart. It had already damaged 1 mattress causing me to purchase another. We have spoke to every manager and employee we were directed to. My husband and I have never been treated this way regarding customer service care.

Desired outcome: We just wanted the furniture replaced. We will be requesting full compensation.

Pilgrim Furniture City No hardware for bed and lousy service

On December 13th, 2022, Pilgrim City Furniture sent guys who only talked Spanish, left the bed without saying they were supposed to assemble it and then left no hardware to assemble the bed. I was treated as though this error was my fault and told to read the notes on their website. When I called to ask them where I would sleep since our bed had been disposed of, they suggested it was my fault and said for my wife and I to sleep on the couch. GO ANYWHERE ELSE!

Desired outcome: Pay for the hotel and bring hardware in the morning first thing!!!

Pilgrim Furniture City Catnapper recliners

I purchased two Catnapper recliners a few days after the material started to peel off I sent photos through email and text messages to the furniture store who have now claimed to be out of business!
It has been several months and still no one has contacted me from the warranty department in regards to resolving this issue. I have the text messages as well as emails where I've made several attempts in resolving this complaint yet no one has replied with a resolution

Pilgrim Furniture City Power sofa and power console sofa and the service protection plan

My husband, Richard Murphy and I purchased the Southern Power Sofa and the Southern Power console Sofa on 5/24/14. On Friday Sept 2, 2016 the power sofa recliner on left side of facing it just died! It got stuck in a complete reclined position. I called the protection plan which we purchased. Well to make a very long story short, they are not open on the weekends, closed for the holiday, and the store can do nothing to help at this time. But wait I was given the number to an out of warrant service person who might be able to fix it for a fee. Are you kidding me, we paid for the service protection plan. After completing all the forms online, sending pictures and a copy of my receipt, I finally received a call 10days after. They scheduled their soonest available appointment for 09/28/16. So we have to wait a month for a technician to come out and look at the sofa and if parts needed wait for that to come in and of course wait for another service appointment. In the mean time we moved the console sofa and when we sat in it we noticed something not right with this one. The arm is very wobbly. I am really upset with the service protection plan and the quality of furniture. Our living room is quite tiny so while the console sofa was up against one wall the left seat was very rarely used because you can not see the tv from that angle. Now the bigger sofa is there due to the reclined seat. No one really cares at the service center or the store. This is very frustrating! Please feel free to contact myself with any questions or suggestions.

Signed a very unhappy customer
Antoinette Murphy

Pilgrim Furniture City Non delivery and pathetic service

I have purchased a number of items at the end of May of which 1 item has still NOT been delivered to me 30 days later! Everytime i call in i get a pathetic excuse to say everything possible has been done to ensure i receive it. If i did not call the store and provide them with a solution to provide me with a Loan item until they receive my original item which i have purchased and paying the interest thereof for 30 days for an item i dont even have.
I AM UTTERLY DISGUSTED BY THE SERVICE PROVIDED BY THE CRESTA FURNITURE CITY STAFF AND MANAGER AS WELL AS THE RESPONSE TIME AND RESPONSIBILITY TAKEN TO ENSURE CUSTOMER SATISFACTION!

I recently bought a Rustico junior desk from Furniture City Boksburg. In the advert is a picture of the desk with two drawers and the ad saying Rustico junior desk R1399.00 save R200.00. When I went into the store the desk was there with the two drawers. I bought it only to find that the drawers were an extra R285.00 each. No where did it say drawers not included / extra. The manager said he would phone me back but as yet have not heard from him.

I am not impressed with the delay and service received from FurnitureCity Gezina. I bought a 3 corner lounge suite In December after paying cash for it. Reported to Furniture City in early Aug to please come and have a look, the stitching of cushions came loose, couch not well padded and a pannel had different coulour fabric. The set returned and kept in the store fro 17 Aug to 28 Aug. Supplier confirmed on 31 Aug that it wil take 14 days to repair because of a back log. In the meantime the customer is without any seating place and inconvenienced.

Suggested to have a refund of replacement, because i'm not happy with the quality of funiture sold to me, Customer even willing to pay in extra and buy a item that is value for money.

I don't know what to do anymore! I pay and I pay and the balance never go down ! My balance on 28/02/2011 was R 29, 075 and after a whole lot of R 1, 500 payments per month.. My balance on 03/03/2012 is still R 28, 753. HOW ON EARTH does this not come down? I paid R 1, 500 via debit order for a couple of months last year and paid R 3, 000 since January this year... and the balance doesn't come down. This is really dragging me down. WHAT CAN I DO ABOUT IT?

This pertains to a complaint dated a year or so ago. The just of it is I purchased a Caesar lounge suite sometime ago and due to it being faulty it was swapped out at Southgate. The Caesar lounge suite had been discontinued and so I paid in R6000-00 and got an L-Shape lounge suite. When it was delivered I called in to report the lounge suite was damaged. It was torn on the back, on the sides and there were marks on the steel frame legs. Basically I was given used goods. In your terms a DEMO! She promised me she would source the same set as the rest had been sold out. She came back to me, only to tell me it would take a couple of weeks to deliver. I was fine with that, but a few weeks it never took. Thembi offered to pay me R1200-00 to keep the lounge suite or to return the lounge suite and take something else. I decided to return and get another NEW lounge suite. This has never happened. Now I just want a full cash refund. I am tired of being messed around. I do not look forward to being replaced with more used goods.. I want this put to an end, as I do not think it is my responsibility as a client to run after customer service.

I had exactly the same experience with Furniture City in Woodmead. I also purchased a number of items at the beggining of June. It is now almost 3 weeks since the date of purchase and I have still not received all my furniture.

It's not the delay that bothers me so much. It's the sheer incompetence of the salesman and his manager that galls me. When I bought, the sales guy made a big show of checking stock availability and after confirming that ALL the items were actually in stock he told me that they usually delivered within 48 hours. What a load of rubbish. My wife and I have made a point of phoning them every day to find out when we could expect delivery. Every day another empty promise is made and some other lie is told.

DO NOT BUY FROM FURNITURE CITY.

Pilgrim Furniture City All round bad experience at furniture city

I've recently returned to South Africa and my first choice for buying goods was Furniture City. Let me start off by saying that I will NEVER purchase anything from Furniture City again!First, the salesman, Willem, sells me goods that he neglets to tell me is going on Sale the very next day! Imagine when I opened the newspaper and saw the goods which I purchased sold for R2017 less than what I paid for it. I pay over R1000 for delivery fee and get no help with setting up anything. I get told when I purchased the furniture - 2 leather couches and a washing machine that I have to take out insurance with Furniture City as my insurance with outsurance wasn't 'old enough' to cover my new furniture. Now, 7 months later, I'd like to cancel my insurance with Furniture city as I have double insurance and then I get told that they cannot change my contract! I have never felt more RIPPED OFF by one company!

On August 10 2017 I purchased a lounge suite and dining room suite from Furniture City Springfield Durban. The lounge suite was on sale, however the dining room suite was not. Just over a month after the purchase the dining room table began to peel.. What we initially thought was a solid wood table actually wasn't, it has a tape stuck on which began to peel off. We contacted the manager at Furniture City who told us that they could replace the table in 3 weeks, however we were not happy with doing that because the new table would be of the same poor quality as the one we are stuck with now. We asked for them collect the entire dining room suite & refund us. The manager then told us that if he does that he would have to charge us the full price for the lounge suite..this makes absolutely no sense because the lounge suite is not the problem and the promotion on the lounge suite was not related in any way to the dining room suite. We then told the manager that if that was the case then he should collect both the lounge and dining room suites and refund us for everything..his response was that he can't do that because we are happy with the lounge suite. This manager who's known as Zain is trying everything he can to get us to keep his cheaply made furniture so that he doesn't have to refund our money.

Last October I purchased a leather lounge suite, black wall unit and Sony home entertainment. My lounge suite has been in for repairs 3 times and they wont replace it with a new one! Its a two piece set, one part has been in for repair 3 times, second piece has been in once. It came back from repair yesterday and its still not repaired properly. Today it will go in for repairs for the fourth time. I spoke to George and his only response is that his supplier has to authorise this. My argument is I purchased this from Furniture City and its their responsibility to tell their supplier that this is unacceptable and they have a very unhappy customer but thats not whats happening! I work in a security industry and I am the manager of our service department and I certainly dont tell our customers that the supplier has to authorise a warranty swop out! I tell our supplier that this must happen! I am completely shocked and disgusted with the service that this manager has given me so far, not once did he apologise for the inconvenience this has caused me and my family!

Pilgrim Furniture City Called 17 times from from tuesday till friday morning

I have a furniture city account and its not the first account I have had there, this month I was late paying my account but I paid it on 8 August via internet banking like I do every month.

On Tuesday 18 August the call centre phoned me I explained that I had paid the account giving them the date and amount that was paid. From Tuesday till Friday morning there was 17 phone call made to my cell phone from them, Friday afternoon they phoned again and this time I lost my temper and screamed at the man as he was very very rude, I then put the phone down on him. About 20 minutes later they phoned again, I refused to answer the phone so my husband took the call, but this time it was a manager who was actually very nice and had appologised more than once and explaind that there system was a little slow picking up payments, he then told us if anyone else phones to just tell them to speak to him as he knows what has happened on this account.

Then believe it or not Saterday morning comes and they phone again, monday comes 3 more phone calls all in all there was something like 24 phone calls from Tuesday till monday afternoon and that excludes all the calls to my office number.

They wanted R400 to deliver furniture, we said we would collect. Next they would deliver to the store from the warehouse, once every seven days. If we were not there when they delivered to the store to check them and the goods were damaged, it would take seven days for them to collect and return to the warehouse, then another seven days to re-deliver. They are forcing you to pay R400 extra.

Furniture City-Pathetic Liars. I purchased bedroom suite from Furniture City in Midrand about 4 months ago. After making a cash payment while waiting for the delivery, I saw the same bedroom suite with extras at a low price compared to furniture city. I immediately phone the store to cancel the order and they refused with the promise to counter offer me with the extras. Till today havent recieved them. The manager always come up with stories, first it was the African Bank story and now I cant get hold of the manager. they will keep me on hold nutil they eventually hang up the phone. I am so soo fed-up with this store. I dont buy on account bt cash and expect the value for my money. I WILL TAKE IT TO SPEAK-OUT ON SABC 2.

Pilgrim Furniture City Deposits

Rip off refund policy. I put a cash deposit on a sofa. Refund policy states a cancellation fee of 10% for in stock furniture and 30% for specialn orders. I put a deposit of 150.00. Assuming my cancellation fee would 15.00 (10%). What they fail to tell you is that they charge you 10% of the cost of the item, not 10% of your deposit. So they reduced my deposit by 61.00 plus tax. So I recieved a refund of 84.00 from my 150.00.

Beware*they will rip you off

I'm sorry to say this, but they did not rip you off. You ASSUMED what the amount would be without asking the question. You can never assume anything. It is your responsibility to make sure you understand the policies before you sign on the dotted line. If you don't like a companies policies after you have read their practices on returns and restocking fees - walk away. This is what I tell all my customers when hired to pick out furniture for their homes.
P.S. I do not and have never worked for this company.

Pilgrim Furniture City Overpriced delivery service

After much research, I purchases a mattress from Pilgrim Furniture. Big mistake. The saleswoman never left me alone. She didn't show me any inexpensive mattresses and barely let my head turn in their direction. I mentioned my hesitation to the saleswoman about purchasing a mattress from Pilgrim as they do not offer a 30 day trial period like the bedding stores do. She assured me if I was unhappy, that Pilgrim would return the mattress. When closing the deal, I mentioned again my hesitation and she again reassured me. 10 days later I called Pilgrim to return the mattress as it was hurting my back -- they REFUSED. The saleswoman got on the phone and she denied ever saying that to me. I spoke with a Mgr who refused to do anything. He basically told me I was lying and that the saleswoman would never say that. I asked to have one of the owners call me -- they never called. If you aske me, the saleswoman said anything to 'get the sale'. I trusted her - my mistake. I will NEVER purchase anything from Pilgrim again. In addition, I live 5 miles away and they're delivery charge is $129.99 !

I agree this is a nice place to visit but I will never give them my support again Stanley Koulouris was great. But there support was bottom basement. My delivery pickup date was 02/09/2012 so I called and was told that they NEVER set a delivery date. Then they gave me a new date for the following Tuesday and after Speaking with Stanley he said Friday Now I ask WHO DO YOU Believe. So I cancelled my order and they told me good luck looking for a new chair. Now I could throw out names of customer support but we all know how that would be. DO NOT SHOP @ PILGRAMS they SUCK
