Fun Vantage / Fradulant

Cedar City, UT, United States Review updated:

Fun Vantage calls from India and claims HQ in California. They will not disclose their true business address or if they are listed on BBB. (Better Business Bureau) Their mail out card asks you to call to receive a $100 gift card good at Wal-Mart or Target. You must first give them your credit card # so they can charge it $1.00 to give you a confirmation number, and they also want your email address. I called Wal-Mart and they are not familiar of any such company or discount service. Warning to everyone -- do not fall for such scammer's!!

Fun Vantage - Be careful with them

The company Fun Vantage contacted my brother and offered cheap medical help. He agreed and decided to register on their website, but it showed some error. Later he provided the contact info and card number, and they started to charge me for $5 per month. I wonder if there are other people, who had the same experience. Can you provide any good piece of advice?

Scam ... given long, high pressured sales pitch, transferred to various other office helpers ... promised only $1 charge, but they hit M/C $264 out of India ... M/C caught the fraud and cancelled card. Heavy accent. Very vague about company. Over-promised savings. Aggressive.

They sent my wife a generic white post card claiming she is owed an "unclaimed reward" of $100 gift certificate to Wal-Mart or Target. After 1 hour of their dodging my direct questions as to who they are what else I'd have to buy in order to receive this gift certificate they confessed they are "a promotion company" for Fun Vantage. I then was asked to confirm credit card info with now a 3rd representative who then made me agree to 4 other "trial" offers ranging from $16.99/month to $19.99/month unless cancelled within the 14-day trial period. My VISA was charged $239 the next day. The Target gift certificate never arrived. WHAT A RIP-OFF !!

My wife never even made contact with these people and they are taking money out of her account. She never signed up with any trial offers, never filled out a post card form, she never even spoke with a rep or gave them her card number.

However today, they charged her card 4.95 out of the blue TWICE.

Once, under FUNVANTAGE 877 8131264 FL. The second time, they charged her card under a different name, but still the same monetary amount and from the same city/state. The second one showed up as TELEMD8778131264 JACKSONVILLE FL.

So not only are they claiming to be from California, they also have front organizations in Jackson Florida that handle their fraudulent transfers for them. Although the charges are still pending, my wife plans on filing fraud charges against them once the charges post to her account.

This company has also taken advantage of me and really I don't have any money to give away, no matter how much the amount. I have saw many of the complaints across the Internet and they all mimic the exact same thing that just happen to me. One thing I don't understand is how do they intercept our phone calls when we call very respectable company's like banks? I was calling my bank when they answered and told me I had won a $100 gift card to Wall-Mart. With is being school time my son could really use that money for back to school supplies so reluctantly I gave them my information. I don't think I have ever been taken advantage of in this way, this was a first for me but they got me. $4.95 was taken out of my account on two different occasions by this company, one was called fun zone and the other car zone. After now receiving the gift card I called to cancel the membership and the same Indian man answered the phone, he sounded like he was asleep. I connected my bank to tell them what's going on and their now doing an investigation.

I was trying to contact Verizon at 888- 9760259 so by mistake I dialed 800 intead 888 and got this people. I got confused thinking Verizon was offering me these reward cards, so I asked for customer service the indian
in the phone said at the end of the call I will transfer you to
customer service, so I gave me my credit card information, but then when
he started to talk about some program and 14 days trial I started to
ask if he was Verizon and then he said, no and gave me name and website of funvantage, but then I realizaed
it was weird all this and told them I was not going to go for it and
didn't confirm, hung up. Called my bank cancel my credit card, but who
knows what they will do with my information, anyway I was a total idiot
and just letting you know pay attention and Verizon should do something about their number so people don't get to that 800 number easly.

Same thing happened to me as with wanda1968. The only good thing was that my bank immediately declined the charge of $4.95 to my credit card. The bad thing was that they conned me out of all the information about that particular card. The credit card number, the expiration date, my full name on the card, and the 3 security numbers on the back. They must have known something about these people. The charge never went through. During the initial conversation the agent realized the charge didn't go through and then tried to get me to give him other card numbers. At that point I realized I gave him the info I did and if I was being hoaxed I would now be really in trouble if I gave him more different card numbers. He said the initial transaction didn't go through for some strange reason and if I wanted to get the lucky offer we had to try a few different cards. When I declined to give him any other card numbers he really persisted in trying to get me to. I continued to decline because I sensed something just wasn't right. Something wasn't. SCAM SCAM SCAM SCAM. Tricky. Beware of further scammers trying to pull the same stunt. The only crazy thing was somehow they intercepted my phone call to the reputable bank I was calling.

These guys caught my wife napping and she has lost $100 already and they are still sending the URGENT NOTICE gift card with reference number. Luckily i'm not that gullible and intercepted it. Very aggressive and evasive as all others mentioned. I was able to persist and ask for the company name which was given to me and i immediately searched it online leading to the discovery of this site. Thanks to all other who posted before me. I decided to comment which i usually don't do because of you guys, maybe i'll save someone else from being duped. As a principle, i know money never comes easy so i don't let go of it easy too. SCAM

Well if you people really dun want to be scammed then why do u go greedy for $100 do u think someone can give you $100 for no reason but just for calling a wrong num. They make thier side secured and record the call in which you people give them an approval to charge you various ammounts after a specific trial period so don't be fools and if u do so then don't repent .

I have also received on of the cards telling my they were holding a $100.00 gift card that was good at Wal-Mart, Target, and many more so I called the 844 number and when they put me on hold waiting for the next available person and I held for approx. 20 minutes, I hung up the phone and this morning, I received a call from area code 806 which when
i searched it on line, the numbertcam up as FLOYDADA, TX. When they requested a CR CARD number to charge a $1.00 handling fee to I started asking questions and when I ask the name of the conpany, all I could make out was "FUN VAN' from the personwho could not speak very good English. And when I ask to speak to someone who could speak English, I was again put on hold till they go someone and after a minute or two I noticed that I had been disconnected and wemt on line and when I searched for "FUN VAN", I found this site. Please be careful when you get these cards through the mail. The next one I get will be put thru my shredder where this one will be put.

I was as well promised a $100 dollar gift card. I was attempting to call AAA for roadside assistance. The phone number was similar 866 rather then 800 number. My CC was hit with $19.95 charge.

Never received $100 GC- What a joke

I am commenting to list my additional issue with FUN VANTAGE, but FIRST, I want to ask EVERYBODY : HAS ANYONE SUCCESSFULLY RESOLVED THEIR ISSUE WITH FUN VANTAGE (OR ALSO KNOWN AS SIMPLE NEWS) ?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

I wanted to call Verizon to pay my bill. I mistakenly dialed Verizon's phone number by mixing up a number. Not aware of this, I honestly thought that the scammer that answered the phone call was truly a Verizon representative. This scammer began the phone call by explaining to me that for only a dollar and reading over information, I would receive a $100 Wal-Mart giftcard in the mail. I continued to believe that this was in fact Verizon and legit, although I still asked many detailed questions before giving out my credit/debit card information. I asked things like, "are you sure that I will only be charged 1.00 and nothing more, ever"? The man went on to repeat again that all I needed to do was read and look over a packet of information that I'd receive in the mail, and after reading, it was up to me to decide if I wanted to continue with anything. I NEVER RECEIVED ANY PACKET IN THE MAIL. I DIDN'T RECEIVE ANYTHING AT ALL FROM THEM-ZIP-NADA-NOTHING. OBVIOUSLY, NOT EVEN THE GIFTCARD. I later realized that I had dialed the wrong phone number, and since then I have not been able to reach any of the scammers on the phone nor any information regarding this scam, except sites like this one, where people are complaining about the issue, BUT PLEASE, HAS ANY ONE SUCCESSFULLY DEALT WITH THIS ISSUE AND RECEIVED ANY TYPE OF RECONCILIATION OR RESOLUTION WHATSOEVER, AT ALL???? PLEASE SHARE!

The company works on something called misdials, they tend to get inbound calls redirected by one or two digits off the actual number that you've dialed. The best practice is to ask DIRECTLY and constantly if this is the company that you were trying to reach i.e. use the name of the company constantly in the call, they will eventually either clarify or just plain opt out of the call. Remember, under FTC regulations they cannot mess with your financial information otherwise they are DEAD. Also, when you call for a refund, insure that you ask for a COMPLETE refund including any and all past billings.
