Freelancer.com project fee

My user ID is surbhihanda12.
I am new to Freelancer.com. I joined around 10 days back. In first few days I completed two projects and was really happy watching my hard earned money credited in my account.

But today I came across a big fraud. I was online and bidding on projects when out of nowhere I was awarded two projects for which i hadn't even bid. As I am a newbie I accepted the project.
Immediately after accepting the project my account balance went to nil and also Rs.48000 was deducted from my card. And it was due to project fee deducted by Freelancer.com.
Since then I haven't heard from the employer neither have they created any milestone.
I would like to get a refund for the project fees that is deducted and cancel my acceptance.

I am also planning to pursue this legally as this is a clear case of fraud where beginners are looted their hard earned money.

I am happy that my complaint is finally resolved now . I have got my due money back which was deducted fraudulently because of hoax projects and the subsequent fee deduction by the site. I would request freelancer.com to change its policy and deduct a fee only after an actual payment is made because such cases might repeat again. Owing to this fear, I am afraid that I will not be further working with freelancer. I came to this site with the hope of making some money but I lost what I already had. This feeling is very shattering. Though, I am thankful that because of my persistent efforts of contacting the concerned people, I got my money back but your site really should work on its help/support branch so that such cases are readily addressed and resolved as it was not the case with me. I had to go looking at facebook, twitter accounts of freelancer for help. Also, I have lost approximately $100 in the currency transfer charges incurred by freelancer. So in all, it wasn't a pleasant experience.

Freelancer.com terrible customer service and money ripoff

Everything started when I opened a claim against them on Paypal, due to a service not being provided properly and also they weren't responding to my complaints.

After escalating the case to Paypal, they straight away kept in touch. Foolishly, I cancelled the claim and here is where my nightmare started. My account has been limited since then and every time I tried to communicate with them, they just didn't reply.

Due to the account limitation, I had money locked on it, projects already paid which I can't download the files and the worst thing: they are chasing one of the freelancers whom worked for me a while ago and trying to play dirty.

Basically they have limited his account as well and the money he had on that time. And now they say that the only way to recover his money is if they convince me to speak directly to them.

This won't happen at all. Now I am only using paypal resolution center to communicate with them. I can see that they don't give a damn about paypal (they never post messages there), but I am taking this very seriously.

The feeling I have is the same I've seen everywhere else: they just want to make a huge profit and not worry about doing their obligations.

I hope paypal acts in a decent way, being reasonable and not weighting the amount of money they make out of freelancer.com.

Freelancer.com freelancer.com steal money from freelancer.

Freelancer.com accused me for something I didn't do. They said, " It is stated in our Terms & Conditions that Freelancer.com may terminate the participation of a User if we think that they are creating problems, legal liabilities (actual or potential), infringing someone Else's intellectual property rights, engaging in fraudulent, immoral or illegal activities, or for other similar reasons. "

I'm trying to verified my ID so I can withdraw my money from FREELANCER.COM account to my pay-pal account. My account was closed without my permission and FREELANCER.COM refuse to recover back my account and accused me for creating a problem using my freelancer.com account. FREELANCER.COM steal money from other freelancer and terminated them without permission.

Freelancer.com freelancer.com=scam

Hello my friends. I hope you are doing great. From personal experience, just recently I have hard times with
http://www.freelancers.com

They won’t give me my money that I worked for in a valid contest. They have to give me 166gbp. But they are scam, they told me that the contest was closed to protect me as a user. This has no relevance or logic..

Short story: I have entered in a contest, with prize 500gbp to create design for an employer. The contest was guaranteed (This is a safety measure to guarantee us the freelancers that the money will be paid to us, for sure, meaning the prize wil be awarded 100% even if the employer does not decide a winning design). I have uploaded many valid entries, me and other freelancers. The contest holder (Employer) had 14days to decide the winning design, but unfortunately he did not pick one. So the prize must be splitted between the active entries. Meaning me and 2 other freelancers had active entries for the contest. I have talked with one of the support team and assured me that the money will be splitted in 3, after another 14 days. It has been passed these 14 days, and yesterday when I wait my part of the share 166.66gbp, I see the contest deleted and no money in the account.

Their explanation: “we understand your concern on this contest. However, it is better to remove the contest that will cause liabilities to users and to us even if the contest is guaranteed. We are protecting users from this kind of contest as it will create issues in the future.”

Are you kiding me? And so they took our prize money and for what? Avoid them! They are scam and they make the rules but they do not respect the rules nor the terms and conditions.in their terms and conditions specify that guarantee prize means the money will go to the freelancers 100%! And is bu. Ll. Sh. It!

Freelancer.com abusive terms and conditions

So here's how it happened: an employer assigned me a project (which they say it was in their list of forbidden projects) for which I had to pay their stupid $5 project fee (which they say it is legal, tough there is no international regulation regarding its legality). I accepted and I completed the employer's request. He submitted the milestone as we agreed at the beginning. Freelancer.com then decided that his account is actually not ok and they closed his account, "reversing" the milestone but the project fee remained taken by them. I contacted the support department telling them to refund me the entire amount since me and the employer completed our contract, but they kept insisting that the project was illegal, which they didn't verify at the beginning.

Therefore, freelancer.com encourages fraudsters who steal money, then they protect them saying that "the project was not according to the terms" and don't refund your project fee back or the money you lost.

Freelancer.com scam and cheating

Let me explain -upon my experience about php programming- how they cheat; As an employer you grant the project to a freelancer, you agree how to pay, assume that you will pay total sum in two milestones. Freelancer starts working, or she/he convinces you that he is working and in the middle of the project you must release 50% of the payment. Then he disappears. He ignores your messages and you can not reach him for several weeks. Finally you contact to support team. But it is useless, they just say that there must be an active milestone so that their "arbitration team" resolves the dispute. But in the meantime, you do not know if freelancer will accomplish the job, or he had an accident maybe in hospital, or maybe he is planning to cheat... So, your single alternative is to create a "dispute" by activating second milestone. But the result always be negative, even you win dispute, freelancer always wins money. For instance, let's say second milestone is 300$. While creating dispute you should indicate the sum that you agree to pay. Here is the trick: Even you write "1 $" or "299 $" it does not matter. Because freelancer will not answer to the dispute. After 4 days system automatically closes the case. Because he knows that from freelancer.com nobody reads the dispute case. So, he wins the money without doing any job. And you will never reach to "arbitration team" of freelancer.com, because they will say that you agreed with freelancer and he accepted your payments. Then, you are finished, freelancer.com blames you and they protect the cheater. Even freelancer admits that he will not do the job, you can not get your money back. Your sole chance is to sue him by going to local court in the country of freelancer. But they do not give you her/his identity information and official address. Well, maybe support team is also involved in scam process, or they are not able to report this serious problem to the supervisors... Anyway, you should think twice before announcing a project on web site of www.freelancer.com

Freelancer.com freelancer.com is one of the biggest scam on the internet

I needed news articles written in native Portuguese so I accepted the offer to do the job from a freelancer that was marked as "recommended" by Freelancer.com. That's when hell began. I sent her three precise subjects and she told me she would "scan my website" to see the content. After some hours, she submitted articles subjects that had nothing to do with what I asked. I opened a dispute to get a refund, but then she came back with subjects that looked more or less ok. I waited for 1 day, and then got the articles... Oh my! First of all, the articles were written in gibberish English (obviously some automated translation). She said if I was happy she would then "have them translated into Portuguese (another automated translation I guess). I had no choice but to tell her she had to cancel the obligatory milestone payment I made or else I would open a dispute. Luckily she agreed, but her condition was that I didn't leave a bad review on her profile.

Of course, during the process, Freelancer.com took fees in every step of this horror (they even take a fee when you cancel a project, after falling into the trap they have prepared for you). And to add insult to the injury, when I tried to withdraw my funds and get the hell away from this site I got a message saying I have to wait 15 days to get my funds back on my PayPal account. I didn't agree, they took my money instantly so there's no reason I have to wait 15 days to get my money back, so I started a complaint with PayPal, which said I had to complain directly with my bank .

So to sum it up: completely unprofessional service, completely inaccurate ratings of freelancers who are mostly dishonest people who hold your milestone payment hostage until you promise them not to give a bad review and the Freelancer.com thieves filling their pockets with fees taken on unsuspecting employers and not replying to any support request once they got your money.

But the worse was yet to come... now they locked my account and when I go to the site I get a message saying my account needs to be verified. The thing is there's no explanation, no way of verifying my account. Just some page saying my account is under review and a message board where I'm supposed to post so the customer can assist. Needless to say that I left many messages these last 6 days and didn't get a single reply. Even worse, when they lock your account, they also block the live chat like that you have no way of contacting them. I also created at ticket several days ago and guess what, no answer.

I'd like to report this site to the authorities as Freelancer.com of the biggest fraud and scam website I ever saw on the internet. Any help regarding that would be appreciated. I called my lawyer and he will analyze the case on Monday to see what action we can take. If anyone has been scammed, please feel free to leave a message and maybe we can join forces to what kind of scam Freelancer.com really is.

Freelancer.com robbery site & very poor customer service

I can't add a service in the section my service. I tried to do it from last september 2016. I don't understand why i'm not allowed to add the service. I've just sent a request again 2 days ago and I got the same answer "service unavailable". My profile is filled and updated, I have positive reviews, my payment, phone, email and identity are verified and I don't have any record of copyright infringement during my work as a freelance designer in freelancer. com. I saw another member that has just registered last february that has added his service even though he doesn't have the payment verified and I notice looking at other freelancers profile that very often more then one verifications is missing but they were still able to add their service!

I can't really promote my service and i'm not visible in the freelancer. com search section when potential clients look for freelancers. This is a real disadvantage for me.

The customer service has answered to me several times that the service is unavailable and they'll let me know when it will be reactivated. Last february I asked to tell me at least a date on when the service will be reintroduced but the employee wasn't able to tell me. I'm waiting for the last 6 months to add my services. They keep saying that the service isn't active but new users activate their service just after been registered in freelancer. com!

Their answers show how the deal with customer in a corporate way, they're trained to give always the same answer, without giving any date of making extra effort to sort the problem, especially when the service is in reality still active!

I attached the screenshot of freelancer. com answers, if you're curious to see them.

In freelancer. com I have plenty of banners advertising monthly membership and I am literally bombarded by them of their membership offer. I can't stop it because I will stop the rest of the mail too regarding contest etc.. That I need

The amount of fee charged to freelancer are so many basically you paid 10% fees on your profit, you pay 0.50 to seal your contest entry, 0.50 to highlight the entry and the most shocking thing is that you pay to get your skills certification!

My last job was $10, 00, from time to time I do small budget jobs on the side of bigger jobs. Freelancer. com charged me €5, 00; it's 50% of my earning! Basically they charge 10% or a minim of €5 or $5.00 depending on your currency, if the 10% fee of the profit is under the €5, 00 that's a real robbery well done freelancer. com I really look forward to leave you !

It's very sad because my earning in freelancer is growing and my portfolio too but I don't have any other choice then leaving, I can no longer trust them.

Freelancer.com account limited - support doesn't answer (10 days)

I am a freelancer designer and i've been working in freelancer.com for about a year or so. My account has been limited for 10 days now (Since feb 21), whe you account is limited you can't withdraw or transfer any money. I provided all the documents and information that were asked by the website. They asked for 48 hours to confirm id 10 day ago. When your account is limited seems like you can't have access to the live chat, this is so weird because when you have that kind of problem is when you need the chat. Until now there were no contact from freelancer.com, I tried to submit 4 tickets that usually take 24 hours to be responded, none of them were answered. I've been completely ignored by this company. There is a lot of similar complaints about the website here in cb, I even read the they allegedly close accounts without providing any information or refunding money. I hope that this issue can be solved so I can continue to work. I hope that freelancer.com change their policy and start to respect their customers/partners instead of ignore them.

Freelancer.com freelancer experience

I had a very bad experience with Freelancer in the past and then I promised myself not to use this site again. But unfortunately I decided to give Freelancer a second chance and got scammed. I lost my job and found a really good job offer on Freelancer. I applied for a project and they said that I'll get all the money after I finish my job. I believed them and worked hard on the project. They promised quite a lot of money so I was very excited. When my work was done they said that I'll get the payment within 2-3 business days. That did not happen and they never paid me!
Freelancer support was useless, they simply did not reply.

Freelancer.com fully fraud company and big scam

Freelancer.com destroyed my life. I completed 8 project for one of my client and get $900 payment. Client was fully satisfied from my work and give me 5 star feedback and released whole amount. I transfer all files to client server. But after one month i check my account and there is negative balance. I check transation history and it was showing all amount reversed to employee. I contact 4 time freelancer support team, Create 2 ticket and also email freelancer CEO Matt brian ([protected]@freelancer.com). But freelancer support and ticket system give me same reply and matt not reply me. They said to me your client filed a chargeback against their payment source. So we will cut money from your account. I contact client and he said to me he filed chargeback and he got his money back. He cheat me . And it means you are wasting your time only on freelancer.com Because their are lot of client like this and one of my friend face this issue 4 time in one month and lost $3000 amount. And freelancer team said they don't have full control on this matter. So why we are working there if they don't have full control on all things. Please close your website if you don't providing good service to your user. Freelancer earning money only . we are giving huge amount of commision also give every month subscription fees and they not secure our money. Then why we are giving him all amount. We work hard 20 days on a project and then get money and after one month they reversed back to client. It means they are in favor of client. If we go fo support then they only said that's rule and our term and condition. If any business that make money only then it's not a successful business. If you don't care your user.i really upset from this thing and i am in trouble. Freelancer.com stealing money from users account.

I've been working on freelancer for around 18 months now. Every now and they they dip into my account. Just steal a little bit of money and refuse to refund it. I make a reasonable amount through their site so usually don't kick up much of a fuss.

However this time they have stolen £111 GBP. I live in a developing world and this is too much to lose. This is 2 weeks wages. Not only that but they charge a fee for every project you take on so they have actually charged me a fee to have this money stolen, by them. Not to mention time wasted by doing work they stole the money for.

To go into more detail the money was paid by the employer to freelancer and after the work was done the employer released the funds. Freelancer gave me the funds. Then 2 weeks later took the funds back. They won't tell me why. Just saying an external dispute that has nothing to do with me. The thing is even after contacting their customer support they are very open about the money being stolen. Here is them openly admitting to the theft:

23:08 (my name removed): Yes. So as a summery. Freelancer have stolen money from me and charged me a fee for stealing this money from me. All i can do is wait. I'm not allowed any information on when or if they will return the money they have stolen. And i just have to take their word for it that they are telling the truth about the illegal reason they gave for stealing this money from me. Is that right?
23:09 Stephanie M.: Yes, that is correct.

*I have the entire conversation and admission of guilt in an email sent directly from their website. Again. This is by far not the first time they have done this to me. Just usually for much smaller amounts.

From a quick google search i get the impression that Freelancer are well known for doing this to all their users. Is there anything that can be done? Perhaps a collaborated law suit from their victims?

In the last year they have stolen money like this from just myself to the sum of £340 give or take a few pounds. Then their are fees on top of that so i guess it's more like £450 (rough estimate). If they do this to 10, 000+ users (they claim to have over 10 million users) a year that's a shockingly large amount of money they are illegally obtaining every year.

Failing going through the justice system to benefit all their victims and prevent them stealing money in future i would be happy to accept £500 GBP for the money stolen and their fees charged for stealing the money, my time and the inconvenience and stress this has caused.

Hope to hear back.

Agreed. This happened two times with me. First time this was 90 EUR, second time - 30 EUR.
Don't understand why I must care if they are "Verifying payment method". We can't trust them in this case.

Freelancer.com freelancer.com

Started a logo contest. There were many submissions. Using their private chat facility, I first chat with one designer, then another, and I was horrified to see the history of the first chat appeared in the chat history of the second chat! So the second designer could actually see what I said to the first designer, privately!

I was horrified. So I asked to cancel the project and get refund. And it was then I realized that using their own USD and AUD conversion rate that is much higher than the bank's, I lost US$150! That was on top of the US$50 non-refundable "feature upgrades".

So my experience with Freelancer was a horrible nightmare. I wasted a lot of time, delayed my project for three weeks, and they charged me AU$200 for having those horrible security bugs.

Freelancer.com service

Hello.
I attempted to set up two separate projects on freelancer.com.
Both times I was prompted to switch to a contest. At no stage is it indicated that the contest funds are paid in full before the work is complete.
I selected seo work (Which is normally a monthly fee) once set up. That was my budget once I had awarded the work to the correct person, yet freelancer took the money immediately (They kept my details from previous work last year on file!)
The submissions have no met the briefs at all!
Nonetheless, I tried hundreds of times to contact support for help to delete the contest and have my funds reinstated.
After contacted paypal, freelancer limited my account, and now both contests are gone, and so are the submissions.
Over $600 was paid.
They keep sending automated emails, asking if my issue is resolved!? But no one is doing anything about my issue at all!
Please help!

If you ever encounter anything like asking you to write articles, beware of them. You will only waste your energy. He has a verified payment method so I pushed through the project. He added me in skype and we did the project over there but did the invoice in freelancer.com. I sent the invoice but no payment arrived. He said he was working over it. But after some days, I started having doubts. I stopped working for him. Now he remove me from his skype. Wasted time and effort and no $600 for me. My mistake is to use freelancer again. I've never learn from my first lesson where payment through milestone has never released in my account but I got deduction for service. For all of you looking for part time job, don't waste your time and effort expecting you will get some money in this site. I believe all the freelancers who posted here. Such a place of scammers indeed. I hope karma comes to them a million times.

Freelancer.com automatic sign up without permission

Freelancer.com is a joke. I put a lot of time and effort into the work and spend at lot of money on "deposits" for the jobs that I bid on ($4.00 a pop).

Now here's the rip off:

They pulled $30.95 for premier status without my permission.
Once I deposited money for a bid, they had my account info.
I am fighting to get a refund.
Nothing yet.
