Freedom Debt Relief They are scam artists!!!

A friend of mine started used them about 4 months ago to pay off about 56, 000 in debt. He pays $850 a month and wasn't aware of the fees or the settlement fee they tacked on. They haven't paid any of the accounts. He had enough money in the savings account to pay the first account but they have yet to settle. This is the most evilest company ever. They use vulnerable people and take everything they have. They are sooooo evil. I hope that everyone who is affected can get back their money. Don't deal with them. Save yourself the headache and heartache.

Freedom Debt Relief mis-leading services - not providing fees and taking fees out of money to pay debtors!

What a rip-off this company is! I knew there had to be a catch!

Only 1 1/2 months had gone by that I stopped making payments to one of my creditors, after being encouraged by FDR to get behind on purpose!

I don't think legal action can begin until 3 months!
Nonetheless, FDR settled with them and afterwards took $650.00 out my account in Fees because they say I signed a contract that they get 23% of each settlement amount!

And after I missed a deposit payment, FDR claimed it was my fault that the Settlement has now been cancelled!

I was never aware they were going to take out Fees for the Settlement.

When I asked if there would be any fees that I would have to pay, was lead to believe that because I signed up for NLLG (National Litigation Law Group), that there would be no fees!
What a joke and misleading scam!

They took out $650.00 in Fees from my Account that was supposed to be used to pay Creditors NOT fees to FDR!

I feel betrayed, scammed, taken advantage of to say the least!

So, I called and asked - "does this mean I will get another letter in the mail to go to court again to try and re-settle this account?"

I was told yes but that I would NOT have to pay any more fees.
You think I believe that or a word they say now?

This company encouraged me to let me bills get behind so they can settle "for less" they said and then charged me 23% of the Total amount and took it out of the escrow balance that was supposed to to be used to pay my creditors!
What as joke!

Please know what you are getting into with this company!

Freedom Debt Relief debt resolution service hahahahaha

These people are scam artist criminals. They make flat out blatant lies as promises. They know they are lying and are great at it. They just stole $1800 from me because they refuse to return my dedicated savings account balance after failing to pay the payment on my debt. They have bleeping [censor] answering questions. They told me I owed $900 more one day, $600 the next and then that the money wasn't in on time. There was plenty of money to pay in my account. As i said these people are flat out CRIMINALS! Do not use them. I hope they are put out of business very soon by the lawsuit the federal agency has just filed against them. They should all be in federal prison for spewing their lies and knowing they are suckering people in just to make their situation worse and then stealing their savings account funds

I joined FDR 4/2017, paid thousands to find only 2 or 3 debts were paid. Over half of the money I paid went into FDR's pockets. I was approached to consolidate what was left of my debts. I said NO, and continued until the woman I spk. to kept saying its no extra money, maybe 1 month or 2 longer, it will look good on your credit. I was still undecided, then 1 busy day a week they kept blowing phone about a settlement, pressuring me to sign to find out months later I am in this program with more charges, I am 64 trying to support myself. They mislead me, took advantage of me and I was and am under a physicians care. I had money in my dedicated account to pay off the debt before they even approached me about consolidating, saw the money in my account, then I'm told no, Consolidation team paid it. They are liars, I am being overcharged and taxed like crazy all money going to FDR. I believe we should band together, take them to court. Now, they call me when I am working, they are not calling when I can take my calls. I took them off my bank account, paid them on time and they are still harassing me. We need help to get them to stop hiding these charges One of my accounts, I paid FDR more than the account itself.

Freedom Debt Relief misled the service they are providing

FDR explained the process as being a few month to 6 months that your credit rating would be impacted. They lie! They drag out paying off your debt collectors and your credit is ruined for years! They give you a date of 31/2 years that your debt will be paid off and then drag it out to 4 1/2 years!

Try giving them a bad review or feedback on their site, and the site won't let you submit negative feedback! State you " love them" and then you can submit!'

I would never recommend them!

I regret going this route! My credit was fine, just wanted to pay off high credit cards quicker and with less interest, but didn't expect my credit rating to be impacted for as long as it is.. Will pay off sooner and be done with them! Don't do it!

Freedom Debt Relief debt removal

They told us we would have to pay $680 for 42 months to be debt-free. Then we got sued and they settled, but charged us a bunch of fees ($3100) and extended our estimated debt-free date by 12 months! Meanwhile, they're only paying our creditors $242 a month.

We've submitted inquiries on their site, but got no response.

Something dirty is going on here.

Can we take legal action against them?

Freedom Debt Relief referral credit

So I referred a co-worker and got her into the program, which is a good program but when it comes to referring someone just don't bother. The co-worker I got into the program has 20, 000 worth of debt and I am supposed to get a $250.00 incentive, so I was told when I started the program. Well let's just say I been getting the run around and still have not received the $250.00. You call Freedom debt relief and they tell you the affiliate company is responsible for your credit. I call the affiliate company which is Century and they say it's freedom debt relief that is responsible. At this point I am upset with the whole ordeal and just am not going to refer the other 3 people I was going to.

Freedom Debt Relief debt relief

All I can say is wow! True to the nature of salespeople they tell you what you want to hear and none of it is true. It has been 2 months, my creditors are telling me they have not been contacted by FDR and I thers are telling me they do not negotiate with for profit debt relief companies. My credit score has already gone down 100 points and 3 accounts closed. I am calling to cancel today while I can still try to salvage what is left of my credit. Smh, I am so good at doing my research but I definitely dropped the ball on this one. Reach out to your creditors and let them know you are having financial issues. Most of them will be willing to work with you to help you get back on track. You can do this on your own.

Freedom Debt Relief debt consolidation program

I have been placing $2, 400.00 in my dedicated account that they put up for me since December 2016, believing that these funds will be built up to pay off my creditors but FDR prioritized their own settlement fees before my debts to the creditors. This was not explained to me.

I wanted refund of my $6, 000.00. Please help me. I am diabetic and so sick. I am doing double jobs while taking care of my mother with end stage renal disease. They knew very well of my situation but still took advantage of my financial predicament.

Freedom Debt Relief debt relief

Not only does this company not tell you that you must claim your savings as income on your tax return, it does not tell you that you owe them a percentage of the amount they save you. By the time we pay them $8, 000 in fees and pay the additional taxes, they saved us nothing. I do not and will not recommend this service to anyone. If you have a question or complaint the service does not answer emails or calls.

I agree 100% with your comments. This company is a rip off . been having money deducted and one account has agreed to a lower amount. I finally called and asked how much money was going to this account. I thought all the funds went to the account and FDR then takes a percentage. After talking to a not so nice representative found out that 21% is the fee FDR takes which will equal $4, 000. This is terrible, I am cancelling and dealing with creditors on my own. So sorry I got involved with this group. Now dealing with a lawsuit and another one threating. All this has happened since I joined FDR.

Freedom Debt Relief ripoff, watch out!

All I can say is watch out with this place, especially the fees. Read everything VERY VERY carefully. What you will probably gloss over when you are reading the paperwork is that they charge 21% of the amount that you initially sign with when you accept a settlement (not the settlement amount), and they take it all out at once. So, like in my case, I had a $7500 bill that they settled for $2700, after the first payment was taken out of my account another payment was taken out, their fee, which was $1579! $200 went to the bill and $1579 went to them. So, basically my account was drained. I had to make adjustments to my account because the $600 a month payment was killing me, so I had them change it to $300 (a few months prior to the settlement), as a temporary three month thing. I was told when I changed it that as long as I called before it went back up to $600 I could keep the $300 amount if it was easier for me, or I could even lower it more if I needed to. After two months I called to make that payment permanent only to find out if I did I would lose my settlement because it was based on the $600 a month. So I had to withdraw from the program, the representative did not care about my circumstances and had the attitude of “oh well, either go back to $600 or lose your settlement, or withdraw”. Now I am out another $1579 because they keep the fee. Very disappointing. The biggest problem I have is that they do not EVER disclose that when you are setting this stuff up. They never once said to me that the fees are taken out when a settlement is made, after the first payment, and it's taken out all at once, and oh, btw, it's based on the amount that was submitted when you first sign up not the settlement amount. I never imagined that they would take payment like that, and they gloss over stuff like that, it was never discussed with me, I never would have signed on. So just be careful if you decide to do this and ask how it all works and make sure they explain everything to you.

Freedom Debt Relief freedom financial / greenlink funding - warning!

I have recently reviewed my credit scores from all three reporting agencies (Experian, Transunion and Equifax) and have found that because of my decision to join Freedom Financial my credit report have been destroyed.

After years of hard work and dedication to maintaining my high credit rating I have found that all 9 accounts included in the Freedom Financial program are reporting multiple lates (40+). Since these accounts have all been closed (required by Freedom Financial) my credit to debt ratio is over 200%. My one last remaining credit card (which I use exclusively for business purposes) has now reduced my limit to $900 making it in effect - worthless. Reduced after an internal review and credit check. My wife had access to three of these accounts and they have all three hit her credit report essentially freezing our ability to make any financial transactions.

Although it was explained to me they I would see a “few” lates reported on my credit, it was never explained that I would be required to go through financial devastation until Freedom Financial decided they would take action to settle these accounts.

Their plan, wait until all of your accounts go to collections, negotiate a settlement (blackmail) and then use your money (less fees) collected over 6-8 months to pay off the credit cards. After 2-3 years once your debt if paid off you can start over trying to rebuild your credit.

Advise to all of you seeking debt support. Please join Consumer Credit Counseling, file chapter 11 or even fake your death before doing business with this Freedom Financial or Greenlink Funding.

I am just diving into the details of our arrangement with Freedom Financial, which I should have done long ago. But I believed what they said, and trusted them to advocate for and help me. Here is what I've learned so far: my original enrolled debt amount was $60K. When I add up the balances that have been paid off and those that are awaiting payment, the total is now $75K. On average, when I factored in FDR's 20% fee on your enrolled balance (a good reason for them to do nothing to stop late fees and interest from accumulating), they have saved me an average of 14% on my original balances. Some of these debts have gone to collection agencies, which I've learned will take as low as 10 cents on the dollar of what you owe them for old debts. I've been sued by two of my creditors and a third creditor is in process of suing me. One of the creditors who sued me ended up winning 90% of the balance I owed. When I added the 21% fee that FDR charged on the original balance of that account, I ended up paying 111% of that original balance. My stomach is sick that I have faithfully sent these clowns over $1000 every month for the past two years, and I am just now figuring out that I would have been much better off without their 'negotiating expertise'. To add insult to injury, and piggy back on what Cheryl mentioned i the comment above, my taxes were all prepared and filed early, and I was looking forward to a nearly $800 tax refund. The DAY BEFORE TAX DAY, I got a 1099-C from FDR, which caused me to have to file an amended return and OWE $240, which I had to borrow from a family member to be able to pay on short notice. This company preys on people's fears, state of being overwhelmed, and gives them false assurances with the 'amount saved' they flash in your face on their client dashboard. Right now, mine says that they have 'saved' me $10K. But, they also raised my beginning balance $15K in the last 2 years, cost me $1, 140 in taxes, and I've paid them $6, 000 in fees. My credit is trashed, and I'm being sued for the 3rd time. I AM WORSE OFF FOR THIS COMPANY HAVING 'HELPED' ME. RUN THE OTHER WAY IF YOU ARE CONSIDERING THEM!

Got news for both of you. Research 1099-C. Credit cards, banks, etc use them to shift the tax burden to you, the debtor, for any of the amounts they have to write off or "renegotiate". Only way to get out of paying income taxes on these are to file bankrupt and discharge the debt in the first place or be insolvent when the form comes in. Personally, if my credit has to be ruined for ANY amount of time, it might as well be chapter 11. Then I don't have to worry about income tax on debt long forgotten. I've seen them hit the consumer 5, 10 and even 20 years later. Most people are blindsided. Prepare - you are warned.

I disagree with this person 100%. Freedom Financial has been successfully resolving credit card debt for hundreds of thousands of consumers nationwide for over 13 years. The program works. of course you have to close out your cards before the credit card companies will participate in the program. The program works. Saved me over 45, 000 and countless amount of interest. My credit took a hit for sure but it won't follow me around like a BK. My credit received 3 months after i graduated from the program because i own a home and a car and did not fall behind on those. This guy is full of it. I this complaint is from a guy trying to sell consumer credit counseling. Guess what you have to close out your cards on that program as well plus your payment goes up not down. Most of us need a lower payment not a higher one. It's sad that people who make mistakes and have no understand of how things work in the financial world make rediculious acusations without knowing the fact. Fact check Freedom and make your own decision.

Hi! I just enrolled with FDR. I felt comfortable with my decision but of course I started re-reading comments and I felt skeptical again. But I read your positive comment about the program. I just have a few questions to ask... How long did it take you to finish the program? How did the program affect your credit when you were in the program? How long did it take your credit to improve? Please advise. Thank you!

Freedom Debt Relief debt settlement plan

FDR has been completely misleading about their ability to settle my debts. What was initially a "plan" to settle my debt within a 32 month program is now being stretched out to 50 months. They cite their inability to "settle" an account until there is "Sufficient funding in my account" for their "negotiators" to be able to approach credit card company's and settle the account. The service they offer as an intermediary in the debt settlement process is misleading and approaches fraud. DO NOT buy into their service. You will be much better served to work with your creditors yourself. FDR should live up to their word and settle my debt within the time frame and right at or near the fund level at which they proposed. This business practice would and should put any company out of business.

Freedom Debt Relief get out of debt in 36 to 42 months for credit card debt

I had called freedom debt relief in October of 2014 at that time I had $26, 500 credit card debt. At this time I was not behind on any of my credit cards and they told me to quit making my payments and they would take $232.00 every 2 weeks and it would help me pay them off in 36 to 42 months. So I did that for about 11 months and they talk me into going though a company. Now there taking $251.85 every two weeks and it won't be paid off until August of 2020 in which I will be paying $32, 236.80 and I've already paid about $6, 000.They said my pay offs were $13, 700 dollars so they charge me about $5, 300 In fees not counting the other money that I already paid. They lied to me from the beginning and now owe more then I did before I started and at a high interest rate.

Freedom Debt Relief communication

As a client of FDR I would like to share some very important information. I have been satisfied with their handling of my accounts but still feel they can do a better job of communication. The following is information that you all need to know before going with a debt relief company. The write off amount of each creditor will be sent to you in a 1099C in the year you paid the debt off and you must include them as income on your taxes. I was responsible for an ADDITIONAL $35, OOO ON MY TAXES IN 2013. My social security check was also affected and decreased because the write off amount increased my income. I lost money. My house insurance was increased by $150.00 because my credit report has two of my accounts in collection. They were settled in 2014 and will be closed in August 2015. I recommend that you be very careful before using debt relief and attempt to settle claims yourself. The debt relief forgot to tell me Chase bank does not ever settle with a debt relief company. I could have settled with them at a 50% reduction but did not know and kept referring and sending the offers to FDR. Thus Chase wrote off all the accounts. I really did not save any money using a debt relief company. I hope this gives others information to help make a informed decision.

I am in the same boat as you are ! I sent formal complaints to the BBB, consumer affairs and am hoping to somehow get some of their "fees and services" refunded! Utterly disgusting! I left program 3 weeks ago and was waiting for the refund - my refund from my escrow that was coming in 3-5 days, they kept it - I fought it - but they kept it ! They are low life !

Freedom Debt Relief debt not resolved

We were duped as well. We fell for the advertising and the seemingly supportive sales reps. Being under extreme pressure to settle debt they prey on our fears and financial distress. We were taken for 527 a month for a year. I kept pestering them to settle accounts, but it seemed that this would never end. They had no problem padding the pseudo bank account with our money as they milked it for fees...and oh yes, the settlement fees whenever an account was ultimately settled. I thought we would not get sued. That is when the subpoenas began to appear in the mail box. I spoke to a bankruptcy attorney and he advised me to file for Chapter 7. That resolved the problems and law suits. Also, the debt that was "settled" becomes taxable income that you must report on your taxes! Nice little detail that was not mentioned. Be aware of these quick fix companies. They are a scam that prey on the vulnerability of honest American tax payers. DO NOT FALL FOR THE ADS! Good Luck to All...and God Bless America!

Run like the wind when you see these people coming.. not only is the settled debt taxable income, they don't bother to forward the 1099 until April, claiming they "just got it" (this has happened to me more than once)... that's BS since 1099's have to be postmarked by 1/31. You're better off setting up a separate savings account and settling accounts yourself as you accumulate money... they didn't settle a thing for any less than I could have!

Freedom Debt Relief gross rip off

I joined this company to try to resolve my credit problems which arose from loss of my job and consequential health problems. When I talked to them they hid from me the exorbitant fees which they grab FIRST of my total debt, didn't contact my creditors, told me NOT to talk to them (For now, obvious reasons) and in 6 months took $1, 600.00 from me!
How ANY person or company could prey on people in financial straits is truly disgusting! IF I had been told they would have grabbed this $
from me, I would NEVER have signed up and no other person with a brain would. I hope they get a class action suit because I would join!34666

Freedom Debt Relief ripe-off!!! we joined them for help!

this was my email when I terminated agreement ------ Please cancel my agreement with Freedom Debt Relief. I am very upset the Freedom has not really done anything to "Relieve my Debt"; however your company has in fact made it worse. I have contacted my creditors and my fees have grown and to make matters worse they haven't ever been contacted. When I signed up for Freedom Debt Relief's helping, your representative SOLD me an idea that your company could help, yet I have made 14 payments of $389 every 15th of the month; equaling a total of $5, 446 and all I have to show is one settlement on 9/10/2010 for $634 and a balance in my trust account of about $1700. Where is the rest of the money, $3, 000 and change to be exact!

Then to add to the insult and ripe-off your company is doing to individuals like myself needing Debt Relief HELP; you tell me that if I cancel, I still need to pay for the remaining fees left on my agreement!?! And that the fees totaling $ 915.90 will be deducted from my trust account, and I will receive a check for the difference. Fees for what, your company has only settled one debt.

Freedom Debit Relief must be out of their minds... 1). all your company has done is settle ONE debt back in September 2010, what happened to 2011. 2). This isn't a legally binding contract; this was an agreement that Freedom would help me with my creditors on the program. and Finally 3). In Accordance with the Federal Trade Commission, debt relief companies are prohibited from collecting ADVANCE fees until a settlement has been reached, was in effect starting October 2010. Futhermore, the Federal Trade Commission also states that " the consumer can withdraw the funds at any time without penalty; "

I demand that Freedom Debt Relief, refund me all the Fee charged for October 2010 through August 2011 totaling $ 1, 831.80 plus all the funds in my trust account. If I don't receive a check, with a refund for all the fees collected in ADVANCED and all the funds in my trust account in a timely matter; I WILL be forced to contact the Federal Trade Commission.

I expect a response for your company.
