As of March 2012 this business is still "Not a Member in Good Standing" with the IRS and the Secretary of the State of MD. Non Profit Charitable Organizations. They have been reported and investigated to the Frederick Co. Animal Control and the MD. Horse Industry Board (MHIB) They did unlawfully violated the Frederick Co. Animal Control Ordinance. Several starved horses were found. Since that time, AC has been called out again. We are a very large group of people who keep an eye on Star Lawson. Several dozen have left her because of the condition of the horses and major issues with her and have joined our cause. The other person who posted gave a lot of information that you can Google. The Horse Community knows Star Lawson very well and we all stay clear of her. Many of the riding stables have received many of the children that rode at Star Lawson's. They all have horrifying stories. Please pass this business up. I was the one who started the investigation with several agencies. I have so much evidence, documents, photos, video's, witness testimony, emails from Government Officials, Animal Abuse Reports, Bankruptcy Hearing Tape, Criminal and Civil Records and etc. I exposed her Horse Rescue Non Profit Scam that she had been doing from 2002 to 2008 before she was investigated by the IRS and the Secretary of States Office of MD. I hope this helps your decision if you are checking out this business. She has had several business names. Higher Dreams for Horses and Children, Rushing Winds Farm, Free Spirit Stables and now Free Spirit Stables at Rushing Winds Farm. Thank you, Angela Klinger

Does anybody have a recent experience to share? I believe the farm has passed to ownership / management by the daughter & son in law (or vice versa) of the original, problematic owner. When I visited 2 years ago, I saw happy riders and horses that looked good. I contacted Animal Control last summer and was told there were no recent complaints or outstanding cases against them... listening between the words I got the impression that the situation was much improved from a few years ago. Comments?

Did the IRS ever do anything? I have one to report too!
