Fortunoff / Thermos Barbeque Grill
I purchased a barbecue grill from the Fortunoff store in Southampton a couple of months ago. Within the first week of purchase, I noticed water stains on a few of the surfaces of the grill which would not come out at all, although not all of the surfaces. I registered a complaint with Fortunoff and an arrangement was made to have someone come to the house to inspect. I received a call today with the results of that inspection.
I was told that the report made indicated that the stains were pine stains and because I did not use any cover on the grill there was nothing that could be done.
First of all, I have no pine trees on my property and the stains were just plain water stains. No indication of any kind of tree resin whatsoever. Secondly, the grill that I purchased, for $400, has some surfaces that are made of better quality metal, and some surfaces are made of very cheap metal. It's this cheap metal, used on the side and bottom surfaces of the grill, which wear so poorly that after two days after I purchased the grill there were unremovable water stains.
Although I did not purchase a grill cover at the time, for a grill to acquire unremovable water stains after just two days, mostly sunshine, is disgraceful, especially for a store like Fortunoff.
I had no idea I was purchasing a grill made of such cheap materials and I never thought Fortunoff would sell something that was so poorly made.
