I did a recertification in october earlier than needed. My son lost his job in September. I sent loss of income info in October with last income being September. My entire family was denied and lost food and medical.

Hi. I just ran across your complaint. I wholeheartedly agree with you and think that lots of folks scam the system. Having said that, my little girl and I receive food benefits (stamps) and could not be more appreciative. It makes me ill when I have to go down to the state building and re-certify my case because I have to sit there among people who (for the majority) are just scamming free assistance from the government. Also, they all have the latest cell phones, nice, new clothing, etc. Also, I almost always end up sitting next to someone who forgot to wear deodorant for the past, oh, week. Gross. I certainly do not have all those nice things. I have been working from home making a little money here and there making hair accessories and what little money I do get, that goes for diapers and the other monthly bills I have.

I just don't see how they can't question these people about how they can afford to buy a $400 phone but can't get groceries for their kids?!? It's appalling and makes everyone who is outside looking in (like yourself) think all of us are like that. I just wanted you to know that we are not all like that. Some of us are making a sincere effort to find work but it just isn't available at the moment (We live in Owensboro). I am so thankful that the welfare system is there to help people like me. I don't know how we would eat otherwise.
Please don't think we are all scammers and trash, because we're not.
