The Flip Ultra HD Model U212OW is a defective product because it cannot be properly recharged after drainage of the battery. All sorts of error messages ensue. It was bought in Dec. 2009 as a holiday present. Until August I put up with the inconvenience of having to remove the batteries from the camcorder and reinserting them before every recharge. The capper came during my vacation in August 2010 when the battery became fully drained. When this happens, it is impossible to ever charge the camcorder again because the Ultra HD is designed so that the "On" button does double duty as the "Recharge" button. So when the battery is fully drained it can no longer be turned on for the recharge!

Pure Digital Technologies, 30 Maiden Lane, San Francisco, CA [protected], telephone [protected], is the manufacturer of the Flip camcorders. The Mino model is a decent camcorder but beware of the Ultra HD and its design flaw. I have asked Pure Digital Technologies for a refund or at least replacement with a new Mino. They have not responded to my complaints. I have also filed complaints with the Better Business Bureau in San Francisco and the Attorney General of the State of California.

My advice to everyone is to avoid purchasing from Pure Digital Technologies. Buy your pocket camcorder from any of their competitors and spare yourself the aggravation of doing business with a company that has no customer service whatsoever.
