Fingers Furniture - Sugarland, TX / Delayed, mishandled refund!
Purchased dinette set on 5/24/07 using MC debit card (huge mistake). Account was debited 5/25/07. After call notifying me of delivery that following Tues., I waited 2 more days and no delivery. After salesperson could not give me an expected date, I canceled transaction, which salesperson wrote on receipt, "canceled, 5/31/07". I ask about something showing a credit using my Debit account number to which he stated that this was sufficient and I would get a refund in the mail in several days. I was unhappy with this reply but went along with it in good faith. After hearing nothing from Fingers, on 6/8/07, I called their refund person who stated that no refund was issued because their records showed the merchandise was delivered. No it was not. Back to the store I went and met with the manager. He also stated he showed the merchandise was delivered, but also saw discrepancies in dates which made the entry suspect. He issued an apology and a credit that was to be processed. After checking my account for several days without seeing the credit, I called the refund person again on 6/14/07 who stated that the refund was credited to my MC Credit card, which should have gone directly into my account since the account number is for my Debit card. Then she stated the bank sometimes takes up to 5 days to show credit. Although I was dissatisfied with this explanation, I waited until 6/21/97 for this credit to show up and it had not. Calling back to the refund person, she finally thought to verify the account numbers and discovered that they had misapplied the credit to a Visa Credit Card that I had used on 6/2/07 for a separate purchase at another Fingers store location. This was just another continuation of a totally mishandled series of transactions for this single purchase and my $700 that should have been back in my checking account for my use was effectively reassigned . I have been frustrated for 3 weeks wondering where the heck was my money and feeling no one to go to for relief. Fingers needs to make it easier for customers to communicate concerns for more immediate action. And yes, I also found that they seldom have advertised merchandise in stock. Everything is on order for 2-3 weeks. It has cost them 2 additional sales from me. I did not want to wait that long and bought elsewhere.
