Very poor 🤒
We don't know much about how Family Dollar handles customer complaints outside ComplaintsBoard, but what we see here, on our website, is quite disappointing. We think there might be reasons for the company's actions (like not knowing about the complaints), and we would be happy to see them among customer-focused businesses that easily solve customer problems. But until that happens, we ask reviewers to be cautious when dealing with Family Dollar and using their services, and to carefully read the experiences of other customers on ComplaintsBoard, because who is warned is armed, you know! 💪

Family Dollar service

Hello,
Checking out my Ocedar mop rung up as 11.00 told Ms P that the item was 10.00 and had a sign she told me that the sign must be wrong or in wrong place cause it was ringing up at 11.00 I ask if she would mind looking she said no need. After purchase I walked back to the sign took it down showed her it was the exact same thing had to wait in line again just to get my 1.00 refund ! Really all because she would not take the time or ask the guy doing nothing but talking to actually go check. Very bad customer service. She never said Im sorry that usually doesn't happen nothing .

Family Dollar discrimination

I applied for a Customer Service position with the Beebe, Ar store and when my son ask the Manager (Jennifer) if they were gonna hire me she laughed about it because I have to be in a wheelchair at times. I was working like this for another retailer for 7 years like this and never slowed me down on anything. I have been in retail for 20 years. I have done everything from Operations to Merchandising and also Designer. I really don't think that this is fair at all. I really find it embarrassing that they think that way about me. I shop there all of the time, but I will not anymore. I do plan on taking this further to make sure it does get taken care of.

Family Dollar turning away customers

They are turning away customers at this location because they're computers are down. Saying there's nothing they can do and they don't know when the issue will be resolved. There has to be some back up in place just in case something like this happens. At least that's what a smart business owner would think. Yet here you are turning away money because there's no back up.

Family Dollar rude and unprofessional service

I went inside store to get 1 movie theater candy box and try pay for it a young girl and a guy was playing and talking..and i had to be somewhere in a hurry. When they rung me up 5 minutes later after talking i use my debit card to get cash back (only 10$) the guy say he doesn't give cash back and he said "don't give him my 5's give him that 10 buck... he told the girl. Then the guy was like if you can see and put glasses on you can see this sign say we don't give cash back... but I didn't see a sign that say that...so I running late after my purchase I opened the door accidentally hard.. after his comment. He came outside after me talking about something (I didn't hear what he was saying ) but he was unprofessional to follow a customer outside on there job about a door being open hard.. to fight a customer. I will not come that family Dollar anymore.! I was in a rush and i was lateee

Family Dollar manager melanie prescott #1316

She is very rude to customers, her customer service and skills are not professional. She curses out loud in front of customers. She is not a good people person, she talks about employees to customers and other employees, she is very unprofessional, she carries on like she's on some kind of drugs. She does not need to be a store manager. She's forgetful and lays money around and forgets where she puts it.

Family Dollar the store manager named terry at the store in dallas tx on columbia ave.

I was just in your store for a couple of minutes I was initially greeted by one of your employees who opened the door for me then before I could even make it down an aisle I heard the store Manager complaining about having to be at work and speaking very loudly about being ready to go home. I guess at this time the store manager noticed I was carrying a very small Kitten in a carrier (I looked for a sign that says no animals before I went in and there is not one) but instead of politely asking me to take my animal outside her exact words were "you need to drop that somewhere outside or bring it to the front" I replied with a smile and said its a kitten and actually all I need is dryer sheets and it looks like they are up here anyways" she continued to get louder in front of customers, there was at least 5 people in line and since she was yelling at me no one was helping the customers so instead they were all staring at me while she was making me look stupid in front of everyone. At this point I was getting upset and told her she was being very rude and she told me "No you are rude and you need to take that thing out of here." I did use some explicits when I was walking out the door I was completely embarrassed I would of had no problem having my fiancee hold the carrier while I went in the store but the Manager just started with disrespect and conflict. I have worked in the Customer service industry for 15 years and currently I am a Office Manager for a very well known watch service center in Dallas so I understand getting close to the end of the day and maybe she had a bad day but for her to be a manager and conducting herself in that manner from the very beginning about complaining to another worker and being ready to go is totally wrong. I know this might not be the beat part of town but one of the riches areas in Dallas is walking distance from here and I pass through here on my way home from work and I was frequently shopping at this store but after this I will NEVER stop at this location again while she is working there and will let everyone I know know about how she treated me as well. I went back to the door and asked the other employee if she knew the way I could reach corporate and for the other employees name and which she said she did not have a phone number at this point the Store Manager again got loud in front of other customers and said she does not have to give me any information and I need to leave while I was turning around the other employee whispered that her name is Terry and she is the Manager. I did not cause a scene or say anything back once she asked me to leave I did just that. I really hope she never treats another customer like the way she treated me today but I can honestly say she hurt my feelings and totally disrespected me in front of a lot of people. Please contact me if you have any more questions and to let me know about how this is being handled because I will not be going back to this store if she is working there.

Family Dollar customer service sucks!

High Point NC location! Dec 22 2018 Omaja Harrison was the cashier who I am filing a complaint she asked what's wrong with the item (marshmallows) I stated I do not need them I have the receipt exchange it or refund please she stated we do not accept returned food items prior times before I've exchanged food items such as cereal or refund for a food item not understanding why this was an issue now. I called the store requested to speak to a manager that was present at the time but was on break? Harrison claim she wasn't available to call back in 30 min I said she was just standing in there I'm a customer may I speak to her she said she was busy and I asked for Corp number number given wrong 18263776420 so I googled it and I called another family dollar spoke to Jen manager she stated the policy for returns exchange I can return and or exchange the item as long as there is a receipt and is still packaged And for me to return the item to her store if I would like. I called back to the other store spoke to Harrison and told her the information she gave me was wrong I confirmed with another store manager and asked to speak to the other manager with the brown curly hair and she stated she left for the day she was preventing me from speaking to the correct manager this whole time I didn't mind being placed on hold as long as my question was answered correctly. By a manager Harrison still insisted talking over me and stated on her shift she does not do exchanges or returns I asked how are u a cashier working there and don't know the policies? I asked so If another manager works on whatever shift is it different? Meaning they will do a return or exchange she stated yes. Harrison also stated she is a manager as well but this concerns me if she can't / know how to do a return or exchange and does not know the policies AND prevents me from speaking to hire authority and talking over me I've called corporate and left voicemail I've sent my information online for this complaint and corporate still hasn't reached out

Very disappointed! What store does not honored there sign. The lady that waited on me didn't even try an attempt to solve the problem but she wanted me to show her the signage.

Family Dollar management of the key west, fl store

How in the world is the store still in business? I just got back from this location in which there were sale items from their weekly flyer that didn't have prices or skew numbers but rather signs with handwritten prices of the items. In my case I bought some curtains that were wrapped up in tape that had a flat price of $4 on them. I had other items as well like this. They obviously were not in their original packaging and did not have any SKU numbers on them. When I went to pay for it the cashier had to get the manager to show her how to put these items in the system to sell. So their way of handling this is pulling items off of the shelf for the same price and entering them in the system. I asked them how that works for them keeping track of inventory in their system. It seems to me that if you're ringing stuff up that's not getting sold you're going to be off on your numbers. When I approached this with the manager he just didn't really seem to get it! He just kept saying that was the only way he could put it in the system to sell said since it didn't have SKU numbers on them. So I can assure you this store will probably have plenty of losses and it's due to the management of the store and the way they are ringing items in their system. This is extremely shady and I would venture to say that not all Family Dollar stores are doing this. So I bought curtains and panties but my receipt says I bought candy bars and lollipops... LOL! Only in Key West!

Family Dollar two members of management

Approximately around 3:50 p. M I visited this family dollar location on 1-12-19 as a customer of family dollars I was not treated fairly as a customer. I did not go to this location for no kind of conflict with any of the employees. So l came in contact with two members of management, that was rude and very unprofessional towards me. I went to purchase and item that was on sale in the family dollar ad. So the sale paper stated that you have to purchase both of the item to get the discount! An that's what I did. So goes to the counter to check out, assistant manager is the cashier at the time I used the right smart coupon for the discount! Smart coupon didn't give me credited. So assistant manager tells me with a very aggressive tone voice it's nothing she can do about discount! That I had the wrong coupon she evening touch and look at my phone an said I had the right smart coupon. I told her it was other ways I can get the discount because I had a issue one time before. An member of management gave me a discount. She didn't want to hear nothing else I had to say. So goes to the store manager that was duty at the time. To tell her about the situation in the ad. She stated to me, just because the ad said that the item is on sale that does not mean that this store has it. I told her, it is on sale because the smart coupon was posted up on the shelf, and it was the last to shelf. Store manager stated to me that she don't have time to argue with me. I stated her i'm not here to argue with you. I'm just asking a question. She walk away from me as she was walking away she yells from a distance to me said (devil is a lie) & I was ban from the store. I have never in my life been treated so cold hearted. I say thanks but no thanks! I still ended getting my items that I purchase. Assistant manager through the item in the bag and through it on the other counter like I was even standing there very aggressive. I just gather my bags together and I left the store. I advise management team to work on there hosplity in customer service! Our money is there money

Family Dollar service at store #10200

I recently moved into the neighborhood where this store is located. Today I went in with intentions to purchase a gallon of water. Upon entering the stores there was a handwritten sign on poster board, indicating that all bags must be checked upon entering the store. A young man, who was dressed very sloppy, greeted me and asked for my purse. I asked him just to be sure to clarify that "ALL BAGS" meant my purse as well. He told me to read the sign again as to say, yes. Aside from the fact that I should not have been asked to check my purse in order to shop the store. I also did not feel comfortable with the attire of the employee, who looked like he was off the street.

I understand that the neighborhood is high crime, however is the written poster board sign apart of the company policy. If so, are employees taught to use discretion? This was a very bad shopping experience that never was and I do not plan to patronize this store until this "policy" is addressed.

I went to Family Dollar today, the one in Mckees Rocks, Pa on Chartiers Ave, and there was only one Cashier on register and she is new. She called for a Manager 3 different times to resolve a customer's issue, and not one Manager showed up to the front. This is totally unacceptable as other patrons have to go back to work or what not. Something needs to be done with this store and your workers. They already seem like they don't want to work, or the are half doing it. What's really the problem there? Someone from Corporate needs to just show up unannounced, seriously.

Thank You,
A Faithful Consumer who always shop at Family Dollar.

Family Dollar I left $1.07 on the belt for extra gum. malik ended up at my car, gave me my money back and told me I stole from his store.

130 New Lots Ave Brooklyn, NY 11212.

I was waiting on the line to purchase a Extra Gum. Malik came and opened a register and took the customers from the back of the line instead of the me and another customer that was next on the line. There was a issue with the purchase up front. I left $1.07 on the belt and told the cashier. Malik ended up at at my car, returned my cash, and told me that I am stealing from the store. I told him the Extra gum is right next t your register, instead you chose to come to my vehicle and return my cash. Malik became confrontational and would not let me close my car door, he said I am not leaving until I come back in the store and ring up the gum. Am I stealing for leaving the cash for my gum on the belt? Is this how Family Dollar trains their employees? This was humiliating and I have been customer for years I will never shop at any location again.

Family Dollar manager is rude and unprofessional and steals

The Thermopolis, WY store is a complete disgusting dirty mess. I have never seen it so disgusting. The Managers there the dark haired short one and the blond one are ridiculously rude and stealing on a daily basis and I refuse to go through in there anymore. A nice gal worked there and quit as many before her did also cause of them stealing, being rude, and not doing hardly anything but pointing fingers and saying this one is not doing anything. Neither of them know how to count. The dark haired manager does nothing she stays punched in and lucky if she is working 20 hours a week. In which she is to work mandatory 56 hours so stealing $1000's every month hence the reason the prices go up and up for us customers.

Family Dollar discrimination and refused to sell me the products I needed for my kids

Do not shop at the Family Dollar store #09080 in Richmond Hill, GA on Mulberry Commercial. I wanted to purchase ensure for my kids due to the doctors recommendation and it was on sale for $3 and some change. When the manager Carrie was ringing up my items, the price came up to $9.00. I told her it's a sign stating it was $3.00 on sale. Carrie went to verify the price and she seen the mark down, but refuse to sell me all of the ensure which I had four. She only wanted to sell me two. I asked to speak with the manager and she stated she was the manager. I explained to her that I wanted all for price marked on the shelf and Carrie stayed she will only sell me two. I asked for the corporate number which she provided and she went back to the ensure to take down the sign. Carrie came back to the register and told me to have a good day. I said well I will buy the two packs. She told me to have a nice day again and refused to sell me the ensure which was for my kids and not myself. I have never been treated so horrible and/or been refused to be serviced at any retail store. I know she acted this way because of my race. Very poor customer service skills and I will not be supporting family dollar again.

Family Dollar not allowed to return stale food item.

On 12/30/18at 4:50 p.m., I purchased a box of Mrs. Freshley's Fudge Brownies at store # 02179 along with several other items. I attempted to consume one of the brownies that same day, only to find that it was stale and thus inedible. In the area of the store again on 1/3/19 at 4:30 p.m., I attempted to return the stale brownies. First, I was told by a tall, light brown skin man standing at the entrance greeting customers that I could not make the return unless I had the receipt. I had the receipt. At the cash register, I was asked by the female cashier, what was wrong with the brownies. I stated that they were stale, and thus inedible. She then looked at my receipt and said I could not return the item because I had purchased it four days ago. Then she said that the brownies could have become stale because I had opened the box. I stated that the brownies were packaged separately, I had only opened one package, but that by examining the remaining packaged brownies, she would see that they are are stale. Then she said I could not effect a return because there was only four brownies left in the box. I then showed her via writing on the box that only four brownies had been packaged in the box initially. She then went and spoke with the tall man. When she returned, she looked at the expiration date on the box and to the tall man, "The date is January 24th, 2019." Then she said to me "You can't return it because you opened it." In reply I said, if I hadn't opened, I wouldn't know that it's stale. Then I canceled some items I intended to purchase and left. On the basis of the above, I would liken to know if the employees in this matter acted accordingly. If they did not, what are you going to do to resolve this matter?

I went to the Family Dollar on Palm Beach Boulevard across from the Goodwill to get a four pack of beer I didn't have my ID on me they want to sell it to me and I said okay that's fine I'll just go to like Citgo but as I was leaving the store the cashier went and lied to the manager say I called her a [censored] and the manager told me never to come back and I was trying to talk to the management he started being very rude and mean and I was trying to ask what I have done wrong I had not said anything of that sort to the cashier I wish that they would pull the cameras do they get hear that what I actually said was thank you I'll just go to Citgo and get that. I do not appreciate the Family Dollar is treating its customers like this and when I asked for their names and also called the store to ask for the manager's name and the cashiers name they refused to give it and hung up on me I would like something done about it immediately as i will not go back to the store you lost a good customer and I want an apology for the way I was treated some way somehow.

On Dec. 31, Cashier (Bryan) and Store (11676) Manager (Maria) refused to give me $5 off my $15 purchase of 3 Pepsi products and 2 Dorito products advertised in the Family Dollar weekly sales paper. (See my receipt below). Maria claimed I'd have to contact Family Dollar Corporate office to get my $5.00 refund.

I called Corporate 1-866-377-6420 several times on Jan. 2. All I got was an automatic system. I left a message.
