Very poor 🤒
We don't know much about how Family Dollar handles customer complaints outside ComplaintsBoard, but what we see here, on our website, is quite disappointing. We think there might be reasons for the company's actions (like not knowing about the complaints), and we would be happy to see them among customer-focused businesses that easily solve customer problems. But until that happens, we ask reviewers to be cautious when dealing with Family Dollar and using their services, and to carefully read the experiences of other customers on ComplaintsBoard, because who is warned is armed, you know! 💪

Family Dollar manager

This newer manager named Carl on 130 main Street family dollar. He smells of alcohol on the job and I've seen him outside more then inside. There's 2 people working today and the cashier named is Mike I believe is only one working. The store is a mess. Items everywhere. Every time this manager Carl is working he's smell of alcohol and marijuana even today. I will not return to this location. My children should not see a manager drunk on the job.

Family Dollar safety/customer service store #07932

The entire store was completely covered in boxes and carts. I was with my nephew and we needed salt and sugar. They were both in the same isle. We asked for assistance and an associate with the name tag April-Mgr told us it was in an isle that was completely full of boxes on rolling carts. She told him where it was and told hom to see if he could reach it. She told me the salt was on the other side of the aisle and to go around to see if I could get that as well. While on the other side i heard a lot of commotion. I walk back to the front side of the aisle and saw my nephew under a pile of boxes struggling to get free. It took about 2 associates and 3 customers to get him out. His wrist was injured so I paid for my items and immediately went home to get his
mother. When we returned, the amount of discontent and malice we were met with was unreal. The manager refused to give his mother information, would not confirm which number was listed on the report, and blamed her son for the incident. The associates argued, cursed, carried on, and one even called her son to fight us. After being verbally and almost physically attacked, the only person that apologized was an associate that wasn't even involved. That store was unfit for customers to even enter. It resembled a warehouse and hard hats should've been given out at the door. April and another plain clothes manager were absolutely attempting to get physical and April was being held back. I am not a street person and I do not expect to be treated as such when I spend money in your establishment. This is a serious incident and something needs to be done immediately

Family Dollar customer service, no one at register

I went into the Family Dollar store in Chireno Texas on the 20th of April about 9 ish pm(this month, a week ago) to get me something to drink on my way home from a wedding.I live about 25 mile away so I never go in this store. I could hear people talking in the back. I walked by the aisle that they where on and I know the guy seen me because we made eye contact. I got my water and went to the check out and waited. I kept waiting for someone to come check me out and they didn't. After about 4 or 5 minutes I finally went to that aisle they where on and said to them Is anyone going to come and check me out? The guy came up to the register finally. I did pop off saying it's about time. I got his name (John Nevel) paid for my water and left. I think at that time of the night someone should always be at the front of the store being it's a store in a very small and out of the way kind of town.

Family Dollar unbelievably poor customer service

At 1:15pm on 4/25/2018 at store#10307, I tried to buy a marked down item. When the cashier did not want to honor the markdown price I pointed out to him that if the price is on the box it should be honored. As the manager was honoring the price he was yelling about how he didn't like my tone. I asked for his name and he told me no. I asked the manager her name and she said I'm not telling you nothing. Next he came from behind the register and tried to fight me and my boyfriend. Scared we turned to leave as the manager began yelling belittling remarks as we exited the store.

Today I had the worst experience at one of your stores. Not only was I berated and belittled by your staff, I and my fiance feared for our safety. I strongly feel like this incident warrants a person to person conversation. I will also be contacting the BBB. Please contact LaVella Nash at [protected] for more details.

Family Dollar Store clearly doesn't like business from from homosexual costumers. Im in a homosexual interracial relationship. For three months this store and management in Salisbury Md, the South Salisbury Blvd Store to be more exact and manager Kim! Kim has routinely yelled at us refused service and threatened to call the police because i/we refused to check our bags. My bag is no larger than the ladies bag the carry no a days. I carry my phone wallet check book phone etc in my bad. Women who visit the store ive noticed dont check there bags. So what am i to think? Ive called the district manager with every issue but this is ridiculous. Either they dont want our business cause were gay or a interracial couple or maybe even were men. you tell me. Ive called cooperate offices waiting more than an hour to speak to someone is crazy. Dottie is doing the best she can but i believe this is beyond her. Im not finished with this situation...

Family Dollar district manager john and store manager rachel and sabrina

These three can't do their jobs, Rachel and Sabrina hang after work do to there life partnership even help run each other's store and crew, Rachel store is run mostly by her two asstant manger, or by Sabrina who has closed Rachel store handling cash and truck off the clock and is johns favroit due her store lack of custmers and that her store has put of stock items on it shelves that her store leave to the cashiers to do while her other manger stands around, Rachel has been there off the clock while on medical leave due to hand but still tell the how do do the store job by printing off papers and other thing while on leave, then her and Sabrina and her go to lunch or hmag out at Sabrina store. John doesn't look at Sabrina store do that she is his favorite at let's thingy slide, don't now why her store is never full of customer to have to staff or the hours.so I think that the company needs to check the store without John or give the stores time to fixs thing before they get there to see how the stores are really doing and look

I think that this post is saying that two store managers always gotta be side by side and why are their favorites? Also I think he meant letting things slide and the fact that they are life partners isn't the problem and that it's the amount of time they spend together on company time.

Family Dollar a employee

I walked into the family dollar store number 6163asked the employee (male) if they had stroller covers because it was raining outside and i had my 2 children with me in the stroller . He told me no but they had personal rain coats and suggested I use that 4 the stroller I then proceeded to the back of the store to grab a quick dinner . A employee of the name of amanda was standing there on her phone I continue to shop and out of no where she jumped in my face saying bring your bag to the front . So I quickly did assuming she thought I have stole so i gave the male employee my bag and said "check it" she said "no u have to leave bags up front " . So.instead of saying that as soon as i walk in she makes me feel uncomfortable . I go back to the back and get my food and as i turn around she is following me all around the store I have been going to the store for 4 yrs and never have had a issue . She tells the "manager" (white girl blond hair " get her before I got her the "manger" walks up to me asking what was the problem I kindly explained and just asked for the store number . She had no right to disrespect me with my 1 yr old and 1 month yr old children . This was not employee behavior what so ever

Family Dollar store worker selling drugs while working and really rude to customers

There is a worker who has red hair and I believe her name is aunna .she was talking to someone on her cell phone that was plugged in right by register in front of store and while I was waiting to be served over heard her saying to someone on the phone that if they wanted her saboxin strips she wanted fifteen to twenty dollars each. And she only had three left. She then went on to say that she had to sell them to pay for fines for drug court and day report cause she was caught stealing from some stores. When she realized us customer we're able to over hear her she said she had to get off phone. When I went to leave after being helped I said to another customer that I could not believe she was talking about that at work and he said that's nothing you should she how her boyfriend or husband comes up to the store daily and she watches out so that he can steal things, including electronics. He also said he had told the manager I believe he said was named Katie and she blew him off like it was no big deal. I find this very unprofessional as my child was right there. I do believe other complaint were made to store but as the manager is rude and very unfortunate called for. The store is family Dollar on 9th Ave and 10th Street in Huntington WV

Family Dollar complaining about your store in hohenwald tenn. 38462 store #04039

Why is it your store can no longer make change for a 100.00 dollar bill, after shopping for an hour and a half, I get to the checkout I'm told to go to bank and get change, because the can no longer make change for a 100.00 dollar bill, it doesn't matter what time of the day it is, I'm not the only other customer who has ran into this problem, so now I'm expected to leave my purchase's and go get change. Is this what you do after a long day of work, or have your children with you and stop by Family Dollar to shop. This only started the last couple of months, are you closing down the store in Hohenwald Tenn.38462 ON 303 W.MAIN. THIS IS A NEW STORE HERE. And the manager doesn't know how to run a business, for that matter neither dose the district manager, the times we've been in she's always snotty, or acts like she doesn't want to be there. She very disrespectful to her employees, there's a gentleman there, he's been there for 12 year's, he knows more about running a business than both of them together. I over heard them call him old and that they were going to knock him down to glorified cashier and give his job to someone new, are they crazy he'd lose all his benefits and senoraity, he knows more than they do. They think he's old. but he's not the one standing around texting on a phone or standing in a huddle outside smoking and talking about who's lazy, who's ad the most dates. You have lost some really good employees. And another thing why is it every time we've called your complaint line put on hold or they want you to re cord it. You will lose a lot of money if you keep up this kind of business, and get rid of a gentleman who enjoys working every day, when some don't. He's earns his job let him keep everything he's worked for and we feel welcome when he's there. And do something about your money problems with the 100.00 dollar change. We customer's are watching. This is a small town and everyone knows everyone and our store's we like to shop. YOU'VE LOST THE WORD IN family IN FAMILY dollar when you sold out to dollar tree.

I want to THANK! the Family Dollar trucker driving A500369 semi! It was Sunday, 6/24 and it started to rain on the Florida turnpike north of Orlando and this trucker got me thru the heavy rain and I am so thankful. I got behind this trucker and just followed his lights because at times I couldn't even see ten feet in front of me and I figured he had a better view of the road and all the construction areas than I did and I can not express how thankful I am. God Bless You! And he was always at a constant safe speed.

Family Dollar store is never open

Seems like our family Dollar store is never open anymore & they do not give our town any warning of the closures. No sign on the door or anything. This store is the only store in our town we have to shop at. So if it's closed, the whole town is in a bind. Then when it is open the shelves are never stocked & the store is a mess. Stuff is all in the floor of the aisles. Then I've never seen as long as we has this store that they have to close the store to run to the bank. What kind of crap is that. This store is fixing to loose alot of business cause of the constant closures & never having anything stocked.

Family Dollar complaint against manager at store

Family Dollar Store located at 1230 Castleton Road in Staten Island, NY. It's store number 6855 in Staten Island New York, 10310 - 1717.

On Saturday April 21st 2018 at approximately 4 p.m., I was purchasing some items at the store and a black person with tattoos on their arm was following me around in the store. I asked him "why are you following me around and I see you go on each aisle I go to". He had tattoos and Indian ink all over his arms and and he made an outburst indicating that "this is his store. He''s the manager. His name is Jamal".

I wasn't able to determine that he was a manager because of the tattoos and Indian ink. He says, " If you don't like it, you can go to another store ".

I and not from Staten Island. I'm from New Orleans, Louisiana really, but I'm temporarily in Staten Island. I don't want any problems with the black guy any time again.

Can you call him and talk with him and indicate that I was not able to tell he was a store manager. I thought he was just a thug, gang member from outside with all the tattoos and Indian ink on his arms and body, and that makes me feel very uncomfortable having some black dude or white Hispanic or any color dudes following a person around with tattoos all over their body.

if you want to further discuss this issue or matter with me, you can call me at [protected] or you can email me at [protected]@live.com.

Sincerely,
Ben M.

Family Dollar customer services

Hello,
I live in new Orleans, La I often shop at the Family Dollar store near my home which is located at 1314 Dowman Road 70126, as I approach the store the one of the cashier was outside, I shopped around the store for about 20 minutes, then I heard a child voice calling for someone to check her out, there were no cashiers in sight, and they both were managers, one of the costumers asked one of them to come in and help us, she did after about 5 minutes and the other one stayed outside, I needed cigarettes, the only one that was in the store claims she couldn't sell them I had to wait for the other cashier to come back in, I waited 10 minutes I asked the cashier to please call the other cashier to come in, I have never had a bad experience at this Family Dollar, the cashier was very rude, I expressed the way I felt that the place was sorrowful and one of the cashier responded I should not shop at a place like this, it's not the bushiness it's the people working in them . If you don't want to work let someone else get the job that really need one . The place was very dis-ray and out of order. I have been shopping there since they open now I will have to go out my way to find another Family dollar to shop at.

Sincerely an Outrage Customer

Family Dollar store closed early

I went to your location on Hampton and Polk in Desoto Tx at 9:00 pm and the doors were locked I stood at the door for several minutes to see if the employee who was standing at the register would acknowledge me and he or she didn't even turn around. Your hours posted on the door say 8am-10pm if there was no reason for your store to be closed an hour early this is unacceptable. I waited in my car and watched several customers come and go as well. I called several times and no one answered

Family Dollar lack of merchandise varieties in store

I wanted to tell someone that I really appreciate you having a store in Baileyton TN. It really saves time not having to go at least 12 miles for groceries. However, many times that I have gone to the Family Dollar for an item, I find that the item has been discontinued. No real butter, is not acceptable! I can't eat the stuff that is one molecule from plastic! Dollar General Store, next door has improved their store by adding more popular brand names, sugar free coffee creamer, Armour Chili, original, Smores Cereal, items that the consumer wants to purchase. Maybe you need to listen to the manager, Michael, and his employees so they can suggest what is in demand at the store. I have a degree in merchandising from the University of Tennessee and I learned a long time ago that you stock what the customer wants. It might help to send someone to come to Baileyton to check the needs of the community. I guarantee it would produce an increase in items purchased from your store. Everyone in the town wants the store to prosper. Please give us something we will buy.

Family Dollar store manager complaint

I came into family dollar in hartwell ga. It was around 6pm or so. The store was slam packed and the gentleman working his name is Quentin. I asked if he had any help and he said no that his store manager Cindy left him alone in the store just because she had a hair appt. My opinion no associate should be left alone. Very unprofessional for a manager to leave and not care about her store because a hair appt was more important. A lot of customers left highly upset.

Family Dollar safety issues, manager unprofessional behavior, coupon items not available first day of sale

Today, 4/19, 2018, several isles were blocked by dollies filled with unstocked items. Isles were blocked on both ends, for example, the grocery isle I needed to go down was completely blocked. I went to another store. I have stumbled because of isles blocked by boxes. The customer in front of me today had a complaint about a coupon item being out of stock on the first day of the sale. The cashier went outside where the manager was and tried to resolve it. Apparently, the manager said the coupon would not be honored. She asked to speak to the manager and was told that the manager was outside in his car on his break. Not only is that unprofessional but several times when I pull into the parking lot he is outside. The customer left her items on the counter and in her basket and told the cashier to tell him that she would shop there again. I shop there at least 3x a week but I have been going to Dollar General and avoiding Family Dollar. I have been a customer for many years and have never seen this location in the condition it is now.

Family Dollar bullying and harassment by employee

On Wednesday, April 18, 2018 at approximately 7:00 pm my nephew went into the Family Dollar located at 3626 N. Las Vegas Blvd. in N. Las Vegas, NV 89115 to purchase 2 packages be of hot dog buns while his Mom, who was recently diagnosed with cancer waited in the car. He paid for his purchase and when leaving the sensor started beeping. He stopped and waited for an employee to respond. An Asian woman took him back to the counter and retrieved his bag, check the items and receipt. She then looked him up and down front and back and told him to empty his pockets. He did as instructed. She was loud, rude and demeaning while customers watched on. When she decided he wasn't a theif. She walked away in silence. Mind you, the entire time, she was loud and nasty so everyone could here her. But, when she realized she was wrong, silence. Didn't apologise, say you can go, nothing. Just walked away after keeping him for almost 30 minutes. My nephew is an Honor Student and was mortified and embarrassed to say the least. He has been in this store almost daily as well, as the rest of our family. I have tried to contact the store but, can not seem to reach anyone. This employee needs to be made aware of her behavior. Don't forget, Mom was waiting in the car. This is not acceptable and it will not go on. I will wait for a response before I move further with this. I'm absolutely livid and something will be done.

Family Dollar incident inside store aisle

To whom it may concern, I am a very upset with my visit of your above listed store last night. It has been many times that I have visited that store since it opened and each time I go there, no one there speaks any English, yet I never let that bother me until last night. While shopping with my fiance last night for some BC Powder for pain that I was already having, after picking up the item, I was ahead of my fiance to left turn down towards the cashier aisle and behold there was a storage container that should have been in the back storage area or maintenance area that I end up tripping over... I was able to brace myself from hitting the floor, but in the process from hitting the container unexpectedly my left leg was twisted. I was in so much pain after that moment, I had to lean over the counter near the end where the container was. The cashier never paid any attention as to what had happen, not sure if she realized it at the moment. Anyway, once I was able to move, I headed down to where the cashier was assisting another customer. Then there was another lady that came to the front, which I began to ask her was she the Manager and she addressed me with a confused facial, don't understand what I was saying motion at that moment it was apparent that she did not speak English. So I ask the cashier if she spoke English and she said no. I then tried motion signals, by pointing and speaking towards the container at the end letting her know that I had tripped over it. Me being in pain, my fiance then guided her down towards the end where the container was as she walked along while still behind the counter, he pointed it out to her as well as trying to tell her in English, but she clearly seemed as though she had no idea what he was saying. Yet the part that upset me on top of being in more pain, was that the cashier or the other person never even moved the container, never tried to understand what we were saying. I need you to know that just last year May 5th 2017 I had to have a full hip replacement on the left side that hit the container in one of your stores. It is unacceptable that the aisle, especially where the cashier is would have containers in the walking area of the customer's that can't be seen and just sitting there in a bad place that can cause someone to fall and seriously injure themselves. Yes I was already in pain, which is why we were there to buy the BC Powder medicine and that hazardous environment that night at the store number listed did nothing more than to cause me more sever pain. No I did not call the police, though the thought did cross my mind and No I did not go to the emergency room, though the thought did cross my mind, but I did take the medicine that I bought, I did get up this morning still limping in pain as I explained to my Manager this morning, all just to be able to sit down at this very moment to go to your website and write about this incident. Therefore, please know that I plan on continuing to address this issue by contacting the Better Business Bureau to make sure that my letter of incident has been addressed by your company. I did notice after the incident that the store has camera's, so the incident as I have described should be recorded. I also took a photo of the container that was left in the aisle after reporting it to the cashier. ( Andrea Byrd )
