Extortion from a Yahoo.JP email address review: yahoo email 3

Someone generating address @yahoo.jp is involved in extortion

Addresses involved:
[protected]@yahoo.jp
[protected]@yahoo.jp
[protected]@yahoo.jp
[protected]@yahoo.jp

There are many others as well. Please identify his IP address and alert the authorities.

His scam involves saying he has my contact list, my password and will send defamatory video to all my contacts. He is asking me to send $7000 in BTC to his Wallet Address

In fact he has created multiple BTC addresses which I can provide.

Extortion of any kind is illegal. There should be a way of finding out who created the email addresses.

Thanks

Same thing here! Unfortunately, yahoo Japan appears to be independent from yahoo.com and yahoo Japan, does not offer a webpage in English for filing complaints.
I contacted yahoo.com, filed a complaint and they referred me to yahoo Japan, saying that they are independent.
It is clear that crooks take advantage of this. It is also clear that yahoo does not give a damn about victims of such criminals. All the talk about "security" and how our "governments" and big "corporations" care about us and protect us boils down to the fact that they only protect their own business, their own profiteering interests and nothing more.

The crook in my case used the address Aaron437Smith@yahoo.jp

From the looks of it, he creates new e-mail addresses by adding a different number after his first name. He has certainly been able to find gullible people who yielded to his extortion.

I've been getting these emails as well. It's impossible to block the sender because the email address is always different. The name is the same but with a different number. I have a branded Yahoo account with very limited features so blocking would just sent the email to the junk folder. I've been getting about two of these a day with the sender saying he has video capture of porn sites I've visited and my webcam but since I don't visit porn sites and don't have a webcam, I'm not too worried about "having my reputation destroyed".

You can find articles about this online, showing these exact same emails. You could possibly send a complaint to Yahoo but I'm not too sure how helpful they'll be. Beyond that, it's probably best to ignore them. Absolutely don't respond. There are some pretty scummy people out there. Part of living on the internet, I guess.
