Experian Refusal to respond to request for correction

On [protected] I took my vehicle to Sacramento to attempt to sell it to CarMax (Roseville) and Nissan on AutoRow in Sacramento. During the review of CarMax's cash offer they advised me AutoCheck (a part of Experian) had listed
2 (two) accidents reported for my vehicles VIN. I advised them I had only 1 (one) accident, which was correctly dated on their report as [protected]. Autocheck has NO detail for any accident, merely reports the date. The second INCORRECTLY reported accident on my auto's VIN was reported for 11-21-2007. Again, no details for said reported accident...which never happened. When I advised CarMax that at NO time was my vehicle in a second accident of the reported date, nor was it vandalized on any date, they told me they had to stand with the Autocheck report.
My offered cash buyout for my vehicle was substantially lower due to the Autocheck report.

The same day I went to Nissan In Sacramento, and after they assessed my vehicle they made a cash offer, which was substantially higher than CarMax offer. I accepted, and the manager soon came back to my husband and myself and informed us they had to take back their offer, as they could not sell a vehicle with two accidents. I again explained the Autocheck report was incorrect as to the second reported accident, and they said they too must stand with the reported accident. They advised I contact Autocheck for the correction, and possibly DMV .

I immediately contacted Autocheck with all the details, my VIN number, the incorrect date for their erroneous accident and a request for a correction. That first email was on September 20, 2010. The same day I went to DVM and stood for 2 hours to find out that DMV has NO reported accident for their purported accident date of 11/21/2007 for either my CSDL or my husbands CSDL as DMV do not keep records per VIN number, just drivers license numbers. They did have record of my actual accident on [protected]. I then went to Modesto Police Department, whom would have record of any accident or vandalism on my vehicle. They researched my vehicle VIN, my vehicle license plate and my drivers license number and NO accident or vandalism was ever reported on my vehicle EXCEPT the real one on [protected].

With this new proof from DMV and Modesto Police Department I again emailed Autocheck on [protected]. I had yet to receive any response from them but again informed them of the error on their report, my proof I'd gotten and again asked for a correction on their report as it kept me from selling my vehicle.

I further decided to check to see if CarFAX has the same information. I emailed them on [protected] and on [protected] CarFax responded to my request and sent me a copy of their report on my vehicle VIN and they have NO erroneous accident reported for the date of 11-21-2007.

With the new CarFax information, I again email Autocheck (having NEVER received a response to any of my emails) and again stated the facts in detail, requested a response and a correction of their MIS information.

No response. On October 4, 2010 I went to Experian website and emailed thru that site to customer service explaining my dilemma and my need for the correction in order to sell my vehicle. Believe it or not, that email came back with the same exact AUTO REPLY as all the other emails to Autocheck. I have never received a response to any of my 4 emails to them. CarFax responded within 18hours. AUTOCHECK IS NOT HONORABLE IN THEIR BUSINESS PRACTICES...AND DO NOT CARE ABOUT HOW ADVERSELY THIER REPORTS AFFECT PEOPLE. I plan on filing complaints with BBB and Federal Trade Commission. This is just wrong.

Experian Autocheck is notoriously inaccurate and hilariously inept when it comes to customer service. Their online chat function on their website has been inoperable for a long time and the help/support phone line has been disconnected. They seem to be a company running on fumes i.e. they have contracts with ebay and others and have determined that interfacing with customers is not their responsibility. Horrible company.

This company does not respond to emails, the only thing they understand is being contacted by a government agency. Please do not do any business with these people as you will not be happy in the end!

Experian charges

When you order your $1 Credit Report & Score, you will begin your 7-day trial membership in Triple Advantage®. If you don’t cancel your membership** within the 7-day trial period, you will be billed $14.95 for each month that you continue your membership. You may cancel your trial membership anytime within the trial period without charge. I forgot to read the fine print stating you will be billed $14.95 each month that you continue your membership. After the first billing statement I sent a request to discontinue my so call membership. To no avail they still charge me for another $14.95 this month and have yet to respond to my initial and second request to discontinue service. If they are supposedly there to insure fraud charges to your credit card are not done. Why are they still charging me for something I ask to discontinue.

Since October of last year I have been receiving fraudulent charges from Experian.com at least once or twice a month, I have never visited their site, nor ordered a credit report but I continue to get charges from them at least once or twice a month! Every time I call they just say oh this happens all the time, I will shut down the account and refund your money. I have done this so many times now I now have Experian on speed dial. I have changed both my debit card and credit card numbers but some how the charges keep coming and I never get any other fraudulent charges from any other company, just Experian. The most resent just happened today I just receive another two charges.

Experian No response

I ordered autocheck.com's unlimited reports plus titleguard product. Afer checking some vin numbers, the website said my account needed to be verified by staff before I could continue. I then had to fill out a webform of the problem. You get an automated email that you will get a response within 48 hours. It has now been 3 weeks and I filled out the webform 2 different times. There also is no number to call support. Be careful if you try this product.

I just solved this problem. call [protected], press 5 to talk to their real person. they can help you un-block your account. Got this number from google, I have to agree they are suck since they do have a limit on UNLIMITED account, and we have to call them ourselves to un-block this. But what can we do, this is the only unlimited VIN check site since carfax only offers 5 times.

I agree with this complaint ...I also faced the same experience. Its disgusting that they call it "Unlimited" but somewhere in fineprint they mention that one can generate only 5 reports. Its Fraudulent practice.

same as the previous complaint. I purchased the "unlimited" reports for 45 bucks. After 50 or so reports, the site disabled my user ID. it turns out that eventhough the advertisement states as "unlimited", it really is limited to 50 reports.

this the error

"Your Account Has Been Temporarily Disabled! Our records indicate that you have run the maximum number of vehicle history reports allowed without verification per our terms of service."

Note that it states that "without verification".

Tried writing to customer support and no reply for 4 emails. I gave my cell number for them to call and verify, and there is no reply or any contact whatsoever.
I was in the middle of searching car and the account was disabled.

This really is cheating. there is no contact number to call autocheck, no replies for emails and no support whatsoever.

Beware of autocheck!

Experian Credit reporting agency signed me up automatically when I downloaded my credit report.
The charge was suppose to be $1.95 and they charged me $14.95 I contacted them
and my bank and Experian refused to cancel and refund and my bank has placed
the charge in dispute. Experian says, "That I signed up for credit
monitoring" and I disagree. I did not sign up for their service I ONLY
wanted a credit report.

Experian Unauthorized Charges

I, too was just asking why I was getting sent emails to my "Junk File" stating that my credit score was being jeopardized and I wanted Experian to check to see if everything was o.k. The next thing I know is that my checking account is being charged $14.95. I was under the assumption that it was a one-time charge to check out this information. Now, I see that this is a monthly fee. This is becoming a new way for companies to get extra money from people. You subscribe or buy one thing, and you get charged for additional things not mentioned.

Experian Unethical business practice

I recently opened an account with the three credit bureaus so that I may view my credit reports online. The service was advertised as “free” for all three – and indeed it was for TransUnion and Equifax. However, while opening the account for Experian, a screen made it impossible to proceed without providing a credit card number. The screen assured me that my credit card would not be charged and that the information was needed for verification purposes only. Several days later, I see that Experian has charged $14.95 to my credit card.

After speaking to a representative of ConsumerInfo.com (an Experian company), today, I learned there was “small print” that informed me that $14.95 would be charged if I did not cancel within nine days.

Let me first say, if there was information telling me of this paid membership, I did not see it. The “small print” was evidently not as prominently placed on the page as the request for credit card information. Had it been, I never would have proceeded with this transaction. And if it was not the intention of Experian to surreptitiously and unethically dupe consumers into signing up for this “paid” monthly membership, it would have allowed consumers to complete the “free” registration process before prompting them to join a paid monthly membership. Consequently, today I learned that if the membership was not cancelled within nine (9) days of “joining”, a refund or credit would not be made to my credit card. What a travesty!

These, and other unethical business practices, are exactly what consumers are trying to guard themselves against. And here is one of the top three credit bureaus endorsing and engaging in some of the same despicable and reprehensible practices out there. I am insulted and incensed that Experian has taken this fraudulent route of deception, and I again, request a refund of my money for this incorrigible act.

MY COMPLAINT IS WHY IS MY SISTER'S CREDIT (EXTREMELY BAD CREDIT AT THAT) ON MY CREDIT REPORT THEREFORE MAKING MY CREDIT SCORE EVEN WORSE THAN IT WOULD BE ? WE ARE CLEARLY TWO DIFFERENT PEOPLE AND HER SSN# AND NAME IS ON MY CREDIT REPORT. HER NAME IS CHRISTINA FRANCIS, AND I AM TINA FRANCIS WE ARE A YEAR APPART AND I LIKE TO THINK IM WAY MORE RESPONSABLE THAN I USED TO BE, I KNOW THAT I AM. THE CREDIT BUREAU CALLES IT A MIXED FILE, SO WHEN WILL IT BE UN-MIXED?, AND PLEASE SEPARATE HER INCOMMING BAD CREDIT FROM MY CREDIT.I AM IN THE OBVIOUS PROCESS OF CLEARING UP MY SERIOUSLY POOR CREDIT SCORE. Experian Credit report ripoff

I accepted their offer for a "free" credit check. Without knowing, the began charging me $15 a month for what I later found out was a "membership." I didn't realize I was being charged for close to a year. When I called to complain and cancel the recurring charge, a person named Daphney said it was all laid out in fine print. She said I had to be a member to get the "free" credit report, thus the monthly charge.

Since they are based in Irvine, CA, I am considering filing a formal complaint with the Orange County district attorney. I think his name is Tony Rackauckas. He needs to clean up businesses in his jurisdiction. Maybe we should all phone his office and demand action.

Just an update...I went to the Better Business Bureau's website and filed a complaint there. The company agreed to give my money back. According to the statistics on the website, Experian APPEARS to be legit on the surface (with a B+ rating, as it probably gives people their money back once they complain, especially after having so many people file complaints against them). I'm not sure how you will fare with your complaint (if you haven't explored this option with the BBB yet), since it is considerably more money than the average consumer, I fathom...but I hope this route of action works for you.

Experian 'Free' Trial of Credit Expert

I applied for a free credit report from Experian - Credit Expert and decided to cancel it the same day. I emailed the Company and received a response to say they were looking into my email. I then found my credit card had been charged £6.99 and after a lot of searching, I found a freephone contact number for Experian and rang them. They said I could not cancel via email (funny the email I received did not say this!) and had to ring to cancel. They then agreed as a'Goodwill' gesture, to refund the latest monthly payment (which was news to me!) of £6.99. I then found I had already paid £6.99 which they have held onto. I would not knowingly have applied for anything with a monthly charge as I only wanted to have a quick glance to see if it was worth it and decided it was not. I believe this to be another scam as it is not made clear from the outset that you can't cancel the product other than by telephone and by then it is too late as they have your credit card details and take out the money!

Like others, I took out the 30 day free trial, and made sure I emailed in plenty of time to cancel the membership only to find a debit of £14.99 taken from my account. I thought it would be a direct debit payment and was about to complain to my bank! I have phoned only to be told that they will cancel my membership in a months time and will not refund the payment - it is all in their terms and conditions which I supposedly ticked agreement to!

Experian charged $14.95 a month for 'free' credit report

My husband and I were directed to Experian to get a 'free' credit report in October, 2009. We were leery that they asked for credit card numbers but went forward anyway. TWO different accounts were charged $14.95 per month, one for each of us. Different websites are listed on each bill and none of them get you to them. No phone numbers to contact them. Since one of our accounts was a debit the bank removed the charge but it comes again every month. Finally customer service at my Old Navy Visa gave me a phone number that worked. They told me that somewhere in the 'free' credit report website it told us we had to cancel our 'membership' within 7 days or we would be billed the amount each month. Kept asking for SS numbers which I refused to give. Offered one months refund, still giving them a $60 profit. I didn't let up. They have now told me to fax the three months of statements from each account in order to 'review' it and someone will then call me. We'll see. The phone number is [protected] in CA. Don't be intimidated and good luck!

Experian charges to credit card

I have a charge on my credit card for Info Experian Direct.com Info EXD.com CA - there is no phone number or any way to contact this company to let them know I do NOT want this service. I have a charge of 14.95 Jan 9 2010 and I tried to send an email but it did not go thru - no other way to resolve this unless I dispute the charge. This company I believe this is a rip off way of trying to get a free credit report. I do not believe this is the actual Experian Credit Service company doing this.

DON'T GIVE UP - PLEASE READ! [protected] was a GOOD number. Just got off the phone with these guys. After verifying 3 security questions (CC#, Name, Last 4 Digits of Social) They pulled up my account and told me initially that the charges are valid and that they cannot refund them. I explained that I obviously am not receiving a service and should not be charged and wanted a refund for all months but the first one from when I logged onto FreeCreditReport.com. She put me on hold for a couple minutes. Then she came back and said she could give me 1 month credit and 1/2 off the service for future months. Since I had been charged for several months, I politely but sternly asked to speak to a manager or I was reporting this to the bank and credit card company. She put me on hold again for a couple minutes. When she came back she finally agreed to refund me the $71.80 that they owe me and cancel the service. I asked for her to confirm the amount of the credit and I asked for her name just in case I needed to call back ;) She said I should receive a confirmation email within 24 hours to confirm. I will post again if I have any problems. Moral is...don't give in to their initial offer! You can get your money back. Keep pushing! The 5-10 minutes is def worth getting your money back.

Getting billed $19.52 a month on my credit card, I was told by an employer to use this service to generate a credit report and I've been getting charged ever since. What can I do to get this straightened out?

I ordered my experian credit report and score paying $35.00, a bit steep. I notice on my debit card account a charge for $19.34 a few days AFTER my initial contact with Experian. Today, I checked my card account and saw the same $19.34, it was then I became angry. Like the rest of you, I tried to contact "experiancreditrepinfoexd.com" with no results. I decided to GOOGLE it and found this site and others where people felt they were scammed. After speaking with a rep, who eventually agreed to refund 1 months charge, I insisted on speaking with a supervisor; was cut off, redialed, spoke with another rep and finally got a supervisor who has agreed to refund my card account $38.64 the total charged for the 2 months.
I called [protected], then used menu #3 and then menu #2..GOOD LUCK and Thanks for the info BTW, credit refund expected in 7 - 10 days, we'll see, if not PAYPAL baby for sure.

I am having the same problem. I never clicked SUBMIT after entering my credit card info. Instead I realized what I was signing up for was not what I needed and clicked X to get out. Next thing I know I am being charged the $14.95 per month every month out of my bank! Help! Is the number in CA any good? Has anyone been able to get this off their card? Please call me if you know the answer to this-[protected]-Danielle from NJ

I am on the phone with them now [protected]) trying to get my money back. In my case, they've been charging me $14.95 for the last 18 months! Dummy me for not catching this sooner or reading the fine print. This sounds like we should start a class action law suit for this deceptive method of marketing!

Info.experiandirect.com is Freecreditreport.com. I had the same thing happen to me and contacted free credit report.com and said that it an affilliate company of theirs. Usually this occurs when someone else another member of the family opens an additional account with freecredit. Freecreditreport.com removed the second EXPERIAN account immediately. You will need the credit card that is being charged to stop it when you call.BUT THEY ARE THE SAME COMPANY! HOPE THIS HELPS

I cancelled this service last year and they recently started charging me again. I called today to cancel my supposed service and the rep said try to offer me a 50% off plan. She also said I could login in online. I tried and said my account did not exist. She then told me it was because of too many log in attempts. This company should be sued as far as I am concerned.

I remember authorizing a one time check on my and my partners credit, but don't recall allowing them to charge me monthly. By the way, I've never received anything in writing, email or phone, so I'm apparently not getting anything from this "service". I called on Monday and wasn't able to get anywhere. They said they could not cancel my membership because the credit card information was not found, but the $14.95 continues to come out of my bank account! Thanks to all of you, I now have 3 phone numbers to try. Wish me luck!

Experian Charged for something advertised for free

I applied for credit at my local credit union & was turned down & suggested that i get a free credit report at freecreditreport.com. I did on 12/7/09 & what was told to me that disqualified me for the credit was not on my credit report, nor anything useful to me at all. i then got a charge, on my credit card, ref# 2435178ACNB0FQVBMN with a charge of $14.95 i was unaware of and on the web i would be charged this once a month with nowhere to advise that i did not want the service. my first notice that i was signed up for this was through my credt card bill i received on 12/24/09. Merry Christmas for a charge that i cannot afford.

I've just recently run into the same problem. I called and told them that I did not agree to this charge, and even took fault in saying that maybe it was an oversight in my reading and demanded that I not be charged again and that I would like them to cease and desist at once. After trying to convience me why the service was good for me, I replied..."I am not interested" they were very insistant. I was put on hold quite a few times, until finally someone came back to the phone a said it had been cancelled...We will see! I am prepared to take action (my bank, BBB and anyone else it will take) Beware! STAY AWAY!

Everything they do is misleading. You can get much of the info for free in other places. The stuff you can't get free you can certainly get without having to commit to having your credit card charged each and every month.

It was a real pain to cancel as well. You have to call, there is no other option, then you have to wait on hold. I literally had to say I wanted to cancel 5 times before they finally agreed to process the cancellation, and then they put me on hold again for about 3 minutes after that while they processed it.

Stay away from this companies services if at all possible. If you've already joined and are trying to cancel and you encounter any problem call your credit card company and they should do it for you.

Experian unfair practices

The three credit bureas perform very unfair and even maybe discriminative practices. 1. What does they way you drive have to do with your credit . Your insurance rates should only be based on how you are as a driver. 2.What right do they have to lower my score because of inquires that people do without permission. 3. If you have credit card debt, you are punished if you or the Bank closes it because of inactivity, your punished. I am tired of these angencies deciding how long a negative can be put on my reports. 4. They do not help the consumer but seems to always help the creditor when a complaint is filed against that creditor. I am tired of unfair practices when it comes to good honest people's financial future. We need changes in these reporting angencies practices, because they are causing financial ruin in people.

Experian Charges without authorization

There was a moment during august that I asked for a credit history without any cost.

The problem was when I saw a charge in my credit card statements for $29.95 not only in August 4 but in September 4/2009 too.

Is there any agency or someone that can help not the companies but the costumer in cases like this?

I applied online for a "free" credit report through Experian. I was supposed to get the report online within seconds. I did not. I WAS charged with $39.95 on my credit card for a monthly service I did not order. Another online SCAM. Don't believe anything you see that is for free, it never is!
