This is the worst place I ever took my car. I wanted to upgrade a few things on my car, he gave me a quote and told me that it wouldn't take no more than a month. The work involved did include removing the engine so I thought a month is reasonable. It took him more than 3 months to get my car back and it was never right, he blamed the delay on parts being shipped wrong. Then the parts being faulty. Then he found supposedly all this other stuff that was wrong and increases his quote thousands of dollars. It was impossible for him to send me clear invoices. The car has never been right since, he had no idea what he was doing even though he says he specializes in both Porsche and Audi. I took it to another shop later on and found out that he charged me for parts that were never put in including inter coolers that cost over a thousand dollars. The owner Larry lied multiple times, and his answer to everything is well bring it back I will work on it. Then he will hold the car for another week or two say that its something completely different wrong with it and try to charge me. I also had my cd collection stolen out of the car and the car came back not only dirtier than it was inside and out the car had a scratch on it that he tried to touch up so I wouldn't see. After I took it to another mechanic I found out he took out my catalytic converter which is illegal, one of my ac sensors is sitting against the exhaust so I am getting faulty readings and he never replaced my motor mounts with new motor mounts that I paid for, actually the car was missing a motor mount! Please I cant express enough to stay away from this place, it is a night mare!

What a loser that guy Larry is, he tried to con me into working on my 944 turbo but after asking him a few simple questions on engine management, turbo trims and AFRs tuning with a simple Wideband he was lost in his words. I got the feeling he just wanted a sucker with an open checkbook to abuse. I toured his shop and saw old car parts everywhere, he had a sales guy call me many times to try and book me in there before season ramps up, I knew right away to stay clear of this crook. I am glad that I listened to my gut on this one before another Naples mechanic ripped me off.

The last straw for me is when a bill collector called me wanting to collect on a bill he owed and threatened to take me to court. I did his website originally and the website was always registered to me. When the bill is paid or a client has a good paying history is when I turn over the ownership of the domain name. Well, he still owes me money. That phone threw me into an angry yelling match with the collector and I had a heart attack. Since then I have shut down his site, not renewed evolutionmw.com and have had no further contact with this guy. 7 years of promises adds up.

In March 2014, I hired Larry Hinnant, the owner of Evolution Motor Works, to repair what I was told was a blown head gasket on a Mitsubishi Evo X that would take 2 weeks to repair. A repair that should have taken one month and less than $2, 000 stretched into seven months and $13, 000. There was always some “recently discovered” problem that delayed the work and added to the cost. Moreover, he charged me for parts that were never installed. After seven months, I finally concluded the work would never be completed satisfactorily and had the car picked-up and delivered to the Mitsubishi dealer for inspection. The dealer found massive problems with the work done by Hinnant and advised me to scrap the car.

I took the list of problems identified by the dealer back to Hinnant, who did not dispute the dealers findings. I told him that unless my money was returned, I would:
* Engage an attorney to bring a legal action against him and his company for breach of contract, unfair and deceptive trade practices and breach of fiduciary duty
* Register a formal complaint with the Florida Department of Consumer Services
* Report to the Naples Better Business Bureau my experience and dissatisfaction with his work and business practices

He obviously wished to avoid incurring legal costs and the need to respond to inquiries from the Department of Consumer Services and agreed to refund my money. He signed a note to me for $10, 000 which called for a payment of $1, 000 per month to be paid on the 15th of each month. The note also required him to pay any legal expenses I incurred to pursue collection on the note. He made the first five payments (although each payment was late) and then stopped payment altogether. I brought a legaI collection action against Hinnant, but he filed for bankruptcy.

In my opinion, and based on my experience, anyone contemplating hiring Hinnant for any work would be wise to run away as fast as you can.

Take it from someone who used to work there. Stay away! If he was the last repair shop on the planet, then simply sell your car, and buy a bike. He will take a deposit from you, for parts, spend it on payroll and shop supplies, or bills. Then tell you your parts are on backorder. He has no clue on how to fix cars, nor does he know how to tune a car. He is simply the best con artist in the country.

I agree with this complaint Larry Hinnant and I believe his son is also Larry have ripped off a bunch of people by not correctly fixing there car or holding the car hostage. Larry Hinnant and Evolution motor works initially will be very kind to you then once they have your car you are screwed. Do not take your car to Larry Hinnant or evolution motor works he will promise you the world instead putting you in debt and a car that will not perform correctly again. I wished I sued him when he initially screwed me over, I did find out to later on how bad he really screwed me. I had another shop look at my car and parts were missing, parts were never installed that I paid for. Take the advice of the person above stay away from Larry Hinnant and evolution motor works.

If you explained your problem to them this clearly, I can understand why they wouldn't work with you.
