Altierus Career College / Everest Institute 4 years of a 4.0 and no degree

I started with Everst University in 2005 to earn my AA. I was told after I earned my AA I could transfer all of my credit to earn my BA. I was suposed to graduate April 11, 2009 with my AA and in November of 2008 the school had stopped letting me into my classes for no reason. It took me three months to get someone to return my calls or emails. Finally in March of 2009 administrations from Everest called to let me know that after 4 years I had a balance appear of $10, 000.00 plus I was on grants and loans that had been approved. In 4 years I was never contacted about this balance. They are now not allowing me back in school and will not release my credits to any other school until this balance is paid. I was not supposed to paying anything to my loans until 6 months after I graduated.

Everest University has screwed me out of my job, internships, and now 4 years of my career and life. I am being told by other collages that I now have to start all over again.

Next time you should read the fine print before you sign. All of us in class signed the same paperwork, but only the idiots seem to forget that and raise hell on a complaints board. Take some personal responsibility and learn what kind of loans you are taking out and understand the financial aid you are receiving. No one is more responsible for your actions than you.

I am currently a student and having problems with my financial aid. I have received nothing for my spring or summer term and it's just about fall term now. When I called today they couldn't explain to me where the money was or how it was spent. I beleive this "school" in not legit at all.

write a complaint letter to the DOE in FL addressing your complaints. I did and got my balance written off and even got them to admit their mistake. This is after 2 years of fighting with them.

Altierus Career College / Everest Institute false advertising

everest college is a scam and we are so screwed...this is a warning.
i feel sorry for myself that i am going to everest college here in toronto
i was laid off a few months ago, and wanted to find a way to further my education
since i was too late to register to a semestered school i opted for a career college,
back then i thougnt i had to start something before my employment insurance ran out
so i looked around got into a couple of interviews with different colleges
the presentation made at everest looked too good to be true and it was ...[censored] was all a scam:
for 16, 000+ loan (network administration program) that i now i have to pay back
1.i got a book list for all the courses/modules that i have to take.( i have to buy the books myself )
2.no instructor to guide you to do the work..he was there but your ignorance annoys him
3.can't ask questions in doing final projects..(i was told once "it is your project")
now you have students teaching other students what to do on their projects and hopefully you get it right.
besides the know-everything teachers, we have a school president who want to talk about himself...
he told us how he excelled in this and that..how he did this and that..well he didnt go to everest.
and if we talked about our problems with what is going on in the school...he talked about himself..again.
4.certification vouchers.. i have been waiting for 4 months now for 1 voucher, and i am almost done..
the school diploma is nothing without the industry certification, other students who graduated are still waiting..
anyway i am reading books on my own, i am doing projects on my own, getting lectures from youtube
i am behind in my so called self paced studies? ...when i am trying to do everything on my own?
and with no one there to help us...how we survived this many months..i don’t know
well i admit i was scammed..and too embarrassed to tell my friends about it.. i tell them im ok
and everyone that complained..ends up getting dropped out of class or leaving the school
i am an old man, who's prospect for good employment has passed but i am trying everything i can
but this could be the last straw that breaks this old man's back..this time i think im really screwed.
i am stuck with this student loan, i still need to get the voucher i was promised, i am broke, no job
and at best i did all the studying on my own with no help from the teachers there,
i learned to do this the hard way, at the very least i know how to do this now
i could have done all this at the comforts of my soon-to-loose apartment.
I could have worked at McDonalds during the day and did all the reading that i wanted to do at night
maybe i wouldn’t have a loan to worry about and could have come out of this a wiser man.
everest college took advantage of my ignorance..i have to pay for that.. for a very long time
but what goes around comes around ...when that day comes i hope they pay big time

I'd have to somewhat disagree with everyone complaining about Everest. I agree that for the most part they do only care about your money (but this is true of all things in life). The advertising is false as you will not be certified upon graduating (you get vouchers as part of your tuition and you need to try those exams separately) I went to Everest College in Mississauga and despite some stupidity going politically at the school here is why I disagree.

More then half my class were full of kids that had no interest in learning. Instead of paying attention to the lecture they decided to talk in the back and/or play web based games. 3/4 of the class cheated on the exams by texting each other the answers when teacher was not looking (however he knew what was going on) You do have a lot of self learning to do and it is very fast passed however that's the price of cramming three years of material in one year. You DO have to work very hard, reading one 600+ page book a month. You should know something about computer technology before starting. You don't NEED to however you do need to work that much harder if you don't (the A+ course teaches you everything from the beginning).

I had a few people that sat next to me brand new to computers. Two dropped out but one girl who was committed to learning stuck with it. She graduated and the school has been calling her trying to set her up for interviews. One year later as I get more certifications the school is still trying to place me with a career (despite having a job). They are proud of their hardworking students and want to use them to reflect what Everest can bring to the table.

They will not waste their time trying to find interviews for students who don't commit. Even those students that graduate however and don't follow up with the career department or show a lot of interest. Again this would look bad on the school if they said you were a good candidate and then slacked off on the job. They will only recommend dedicated and professional students.

One year after graduating with honors I am Security+, A+ and CCENT certified. I am making 50 000 a year as a network administrator at a small company. This isn't going to happen to everyone but you need to remember. They are not going to hold your hand along the way. This isn't high school this is your life; if you put in the effort and take control of things for yourself you will find something of value here.

I'm not sure why it took your school so long to get you, your vouchers as I got mine as soon as I asked (one time I had to wait for a month as they were only able to order is blocks of 10). Even a year later I am still getting the vouchers I have not used one at a time.

Everything Everest teaches you, you can learn on your own at home however you are going for the Diploma. Don't register for Everest with the expectation you will graduate with all the certifications and credentials advertised. No one is going to hand things out to you. You need to work hard and learn the material. It is also not only about what you know but how you act. You need to work on your soft skills and be professional. Most people in my class didn't act as if they cared and that's why they will not get any help after graduating.

If you need any more information or if you graduated from Everest and would like some assistance with the IT work let me know. Ryan.Pratt@live.ca

this school is a rip, the teacher i had starting off showed favoritism in a racist way and tried lying that i let a student copy off my work so i wouldnt be ambassador. i would participate the most, know the terms and loved typing class. throughout the whole time i found out only towards the end that i couldnt be ambassador because of beeing accused of allowing someone to cheat off me. i took it to the president of the school and he ### his way out of it and it was unfair because i was in his office with five other girls explaining the teachers actions and my word didnt count for ###. so later on in the mods, an ambassador is chosen and im thinking " this girl has raised her voice and disrespected the teacher to her face". they dont care, nobody in this school does and i blame myself for not going on the internet to read all of these negative reviews about the school.

I'm attending Everest College, Newmarket Campus, taking the PSW Program. I had a bad feeling about this school from day 1, but the rep I met with kept calling, encouraging me to enroll. I gave it a lot of thought, and decided to attend. I thought, 7 months, and I'll have my Diploma, and get to work in a field that I love. I used to be a Health Care Aide, but in order to get a job, you have to have the PSW Diploma.
My problems started from the beginning of the program, start date was supposed to be Sept 5, 2012, so I quit my job, because I was going to be in school full-time. A week before the start date, I get a call that the start date has been moved to Sept 17, 2012. We start the 1st week, and all was going well, the 2nd week, we had our "psw" teacher, not the original teacher as outlined on our schedule. 3rd week starts, NO TEACHER. We went 4 full days that week without a teacher. The administrative staff would come in and tell us that the teacher is sick, blah, blah...The friday of that 3rd week, we got a "new" teacher, the same teacher on our original schedule! And we were told the other teacher isn't returning because of "health issues." Really?
Things were starting to get better, and our teacher was AMAZING, an RN with a lot of knowledge and experience. Unfortunately, she had to go away for personal reasons for 3 weeks, and were told we'd have a "substitute" teacher while she's gone. We waited 3 more school days for this teacher to show up! The substitute was amazing, and thankfully our original teacher came back as planned.
We finished our theory hours on Jan 24, 2013, and were to start Practicum Hours on Jan 25, 2013, according to our schedules. It has been almost a week now, and still no word on where or when we are starting! 15 students' lives are "on hold, " single mothers have paid for daycare for the week, some have quit their jobs, as practicum is "full time" hours.
We get a phone call, most of us, every day, to let us know there are "no changes, " "we are finalizing everything, " to "no confirmation yet, " are you kidding me?
I'm thinking of dropping out of this school, and start all over at a REAL school, like Seneca or George Brown. All our hard work, assignments, exams every week, practical exams...all out the window! WAY TO GO EVEREST!

Hi I'm currently enrolled at Everest College and have no complaints.!
My Instructor is professional and nice! A little strict but thats college!
Everest IS a hands on learning school and its a learn on your own school!
I strongly disagree that it is a scam. In fact they have kept their word on all the promises or suggestions they made me.
I think many people on here are full of themselves and probably didn't go to college let alone Everest.
As for you, I'm sorry to say it sounds like you got a raw deal. Maybe it's just that campus or just THAT instructor...]
As I said before I'm going there now and evrything is fine.
My books, Tuition and fees/kits were ALL included in my loan. Which by the way is OSAP's fault NOT the school!

I Graduated from Everest in early 2010, needless to say, ALL I got out of it was a huge loan, that I have to pay back! When it was time for me to do my externship, they placed me at a VETS OFFICE, WHERE I DID NOTHING BUT CLEAN UP DOG CRAP, CLEAN OUT CAGES, AND ALPHABETIZE FILES, THAT THEY WERE TO LAZY TO DO THEMSELVES! THAT TAUGHT ME SOOOOOO MUCH ABOUT BEING A MEDICAL ASSISTANT! They did NOT help find me a job, and the only job, that I have had, since I graduated, was at a laundry mat, where I had to wash other peoples dirty clothes! I WOULD NOT, REPEAT WOULD NOT! ENCOURAGE ANYONE TO GO TO EVEREST, UNLESS ALL YOU WANT OUT OF IT, IS A HUGE LOAN, AND A MINIMUM wage PAYING JOB!

I recently went to Everest College (Hamilton) to inquire about a Logistics program and was repeatedly steered away from what I wanted to take, instead they tried to steer me towards a CBass Program instead, no job placement involved.
The parking was a joke (getting potentially called from class to move your car), facilities I found to be very grungy like, not much in the way of room in the corridors they would call a hallway.
My Favourite part had to be when it came to the money, what I felt was like a constant was the pressure to either apply for a loan, apply via OSAP or perhaps go via a bursary loan, being assured from Everest that there were many ways to get some form of financing to attend.
I repeatedly stated that I was not going to apply for anything as this is a second career that I was coming in via.
They may talk a good game, but what a complete joke my experience was.

Everest is a big scam I went to Everest University between Dec. 2008- Oct. 2009 and I am very upset with their recruiting practices I was told one thing and they did something else I could write a book about all the false promises they made before you sign half of your life to them they are so attentive but as soon as you sign on the dotted line they act like they don't want to accept your calls I could not sleep they called me so much but when I started there it was like please call back they're busy, what? it's very sad how they can get away with these kind of scam and it's suppose to be legal but let me not be able to get a job do you think Sallie Mae and the rest of the gang will wait for you to get a decent job. Some of the students did not have a G.E.D but you know they said that they can still go to school but they will have to finish their GED before they get there diploma why not offer the GED class at least they will get something for their money. I for one will not let them get away with what they did to me I will fight to the bitter end first. So to everyone smart enough to listen to my advice DO NOT GO TO EVEREST UNIVERSITY OR COLLEGE or any other college that is nationally accredited make sure they are regional accredited

Everest is a complete joke. Medical assistant? The commercials are hilarious...some minority with a kid who rambles on about supporting their family and calling the school immediately. Nothing like an uneducated salesperson telling me to gain an education. Go to a real institution of learning and. Forget about this joke of a school.

I just graduated from everest college in Burr Ridge, IL and it was a complete waste of money and time. They overload you with homework and tests and its a complete scam. The worst part about it is they make you work for free! I paid 14, 000 dollars to go there and now I have a job making $10 dollars an hour! It would've been nice if they told u that when u first sign up! They don't Its a complete scam! I don't see how they can actually do this to people!

They don't just prey on youth I am older and they preyed on me too. They made me take out a Genesis loan so I could receive my degree. I did take out the loan and paid it off but would be nice to get that money back. I went to Everest for three years and received one stipend check. Just wondering where that money went? I also started after I got my degree at Everest to Ashford University not even a year into my degree they told me that I was out of federal money. I could not finish my degree in cybersecurity. I graduated from Everest in 2013 and my loans are in litigation. But they have not forgiven my loans yet. What about the Genesis loan they made me take out will I get that back? I didn't need to take out a private loan I still had federal aid from the board of education. Also those stipend checks that I did not receive.

My daughter graduated from there and she did her externship at a doctor's office that had her filing paperwork the whole time. No hands on whatsoever. Then she gets a job they help her get making $10 although the school said they could find her employment making over $16 then the Dr's office fires her 4 days later because she was not trained properly at the school. She was told it was accredited and that she could transfer her credits..Well LIE she just went to register at Malcolm X college and Everest is not accredited . The course was over $14, 000 that she now has loans for and is working retail. This school is garbage and prey on our youth. I will definitely be speaking to a lawyer I refuse for her to pay any penny and everything she has paid so far needs to be refunded. EVEREST IS HORRIBLE!

I went there graduated in 2010 I was told that I would be in demand as a cma .it took me forever to get a job 1. I wasn't bi lingual 2 Everest has a bad rep for ghetto ### and white trash. All of whom seemed to be pregnant at the time that's beside the point. My main problem is the job doesn't pay high enough to balance the cost of going there 16, 000$ in tuition making 13.00 an hour I was lied to . I want to form a class action law suit for fraud against this school in Burridge they lied and exaggerated the genesis loan is another piece of ### loan.

I paid for my niece to go to Everest College in Burr Ridge Il for the Massage Therapy program. It cost me 15, 000 for the entire program. I found out when she finished that only 3 people out of 17 in the class passed the Massage Therapy licensure exam. She now is working at Victoria Secrets as she has failed this exam 3 times already. It is not a professional college obviously otherwise I would think more students would have passed this exam. They did not educate her and prepare her for the exam none whatsoever. I am one angry Aunt who feels that I have been ripped off completely by this so called college. They took my money and gave my niece nothing. I believe we all should get together for a class action suit against the Everest College and remove them from business. They are ripping people off with their lies and deceitfulness! I wish I had know more about this sham of a school before I wasted my 15 grand! sherry.wilson@me.com

I'm currently attending Everest college, and I have never in my life seen so many complaints about a school online. At this time, I'm somewhat trying to remain neutral, but leaning more on the negative side of things. I have to say, I am paying alot of money to be more of less, self taught for the MIBC program. Most of my learning is coming from my homework, and holy [censor], is there ALOT! It's a good thing that I'm currently unemployed because there would be no way I could handle even a part time job with all the homework they give you. Not one of the teachers there is a Certified coder, or an RHIT. They have no credentials what-so-ever. They did have an opening for an MIBC teacher, and the requirements for the teaching position were so minimal, I was shocked. You didn't have to be a teacher, nor did you have to be a coder. My teachers are nice, don't get me wrong, but when they can't even answer a simple question for you and you have to call one of your coding friends to get the right answer for you, is a bit concerning. My biggest concern with this, is, if my teachers aren't even Certified coders, and have no education of their own, and aren't even members of the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC), how am I to expect them to train me properly to sit for my CCS AND CCS-P exams after I graduate? Am I being trained adequately? With all that said, and taking all the complaints, and all the money that everyone seems to have "wasted" on this so called "education" and believes that they have been rip off, scammed, and cheated out of the education that they were manipulated into believing that we were going to receive, did anyone ever think of putting together a CLASS ACTION LAW SUIT" against this institution? They can't seem to provide the externship's they've promised. I have three people in my class who are about to graduate "per se", because before you actually graduate, you have to do 160 hours of externship before you actually graduate and get your "diploma", but the school can't even provide them externships because apparently, no one will take Everest students anymore. From what I heard, there was ONE Physician practice who was taking extern's, and then stopped, because the rumor had it that the students weren't showing up, had bad attitudes, blah blah blah... I don't what the problem was, but I feel that the school should have already have MULTIPLE, and IN GOOD STANDING relationships with hospitals, physician's offices, and medical centers in the entire surrounding geographical area that were prepared, and willing to accept externs from Everest. Everest at Burr Ridge only had one for the MIBC program? There are complaints I've seen from across the United States about this institution. I think, at this point, a Class Action Law suit would be in order, and completely appropriate for people to get their money back for an education they were lied to about, and the money that was scammed right out from under them with exaggerated lies, statistics, and flat out manipulation.

Some lessons Ive learned after having been screwed by a "business/career/trade" college.
1)If the school is Private, stay away from it
2)If the school is for-profit, stay away from it
3)If the school offers people the ability to finish a course offered at a public college or university in less that half the time it normally takes, stay away from it
4)Do the credits transfer to other PUBLIC colleges and Provincially funded universities? if not, stay away from it
5)are there multiple posts about the institution on educational forums and on the internet in general that are negative in nature, if so, stay away from it
6)Does the school offer job placement assistance, guaranteed high paying jobs after graduation, scouts/employers from companies that come to the school to look for grads, a 70-90% graduate employment rate and a whole bunch of other really over-the-top gurantees?!, if so, stay away from it
7)Does the school have multiple "campuses" spread out all over the country?if so, stay away from it
8)Is the school on the third floor of a scummy building? if so, stay away from it
9)Does the school seem to change names every couple of years? If so, stay away from it
10)Does the school go through a constant change of instructors and management? If so, stay away from it
11)Does the school employ ex-grads as teachers?, if so, stay away from it
12)DO they advertise on tv, have a 1-800 number and do they have glossy print ads? If so, stay away from it
-If I wouldve had a list similar to this before I enrolled in that institution, I wouldve thought twice about making said decision

Bottom line:DO YOUR RESEARCH!

Altierus Career College / Everest Institute Awful school

Before I even decided to go to this school, I read some reviews of the school online, I saw that many of the Everest's in America had some pretty bad reviews, but I saw a few in Canada (where I'm from) that were pretty awesome. So I enrolled myself, got a loan from OSAP and here we are.

I am currently attending Everest College in Ontario, Canada, in the Personal Support Worker course. My course began on November 24, 2008. In 2 weeks, my class is supposed to, (key word "supposed to") be put into a nursing home for placement.
Unfortunately, we are not going to be going into placement at our schedualed time. The reason?

Near the end of January our class was hit hard. Our teacher, was fired, and we were given a new teacher. No one was offically told why, just that our teacher "wasn't coming back" She was a very nice woman, and was replaced by another awesome woman. Unfortunately, because of the change, we were pretty much starting fresh with our work and learning, with only a month of school left. This new teacher had to learn our learning styles, and where we were with our work and learning, it was a hard adjustment. You'd think with one month left, they would just leave us with our original teacher and let us end the course.

About a week after the teacher switch, the news was told to some of us in the class from a returning student that our original teacher, had taught the year before, and the class that she had, went into placement and was actually sent BACK to the school to relearn many things because they weren't taught enough to be in placement. There were also many words going around that our teacher had a bad way of teaching and we were very far behind in our learnings and should have known more then we did. My question, is if this school knew how she taught, and didn't like it, and if they knew what happened with the class before us, about having to return from placement, why would they let her continue teaching at the school? Why would they put us with her for 2 months and THEN decide to fire her?

I should also mention that we went to school on a Wednesday morning, and the president of the school came down to our class to tell us about our teacher and that we would be getting a new one. Then she sent us home for the rest of the week and told us that we would have a new teacher on Monday. (This information comes into play in a few more paragraphs) So we meet our new teacher, she's nice, but she also has her own way of teaching that took us awhile to get used to. Oh, and I should also mention that it took the school about 3 weeks to find all of our marks, because our old teacher had them back at her house, and they misplaced a few of them. So we had no idea how we were doing in the class. Actually, as of right now, we still don't know our most recent mark, and we should. Also, our new teacher has yet to learn the schools marking scheme, so she's as confused as we are.

Now, when it comes to OSAP, we were screwed over with that too. As of February 15, 2009, our SECOND OSAP loan papers were released to us. Unfortunately, our class did not, and still has not, received any money from our second loan. I'll explain why. Our class right now, SHOULD be 40% finished our course. And we NEED to be 40% finished our course in order to get our second OSAP loan. Because we were given a week long christmas break (normally, and other past years, it's only been 2 days for christmas break), and also because we were told not to come to class until Monday after we found out that we were getting a new teacher, we are only 32% finished our course. Another thing the school screwed us over with. Many of us in the course are mad for this very reason. OSAP loans help pay for things while we're in school. Rent and groceries, and many in the class have children, this is setting us all back and making it hard to stay in school. Some students are having to pick up extra shifts at work to make money, and because of this are not able to finish homework and projects. It really sucks. We haven't been told any date that we would be getting our second loan either, I heard "sometime in March"..but who really knows?

So, because of all the set backs that we have been given, with a new teacher and missing marks, we are not able to go into placement on time. This new teacher has been instructed to teach us for one, maybe two, extra weeks so we can take more time to learn more things and do more hands on things so we are ready for placement. Now, I agree that we do need more time for that, but, the school knew that our old teachers teaching ways were bad, and she didn't teach enough, so why would they put US through that too? It's because of that reason why we aren't going into placement on time. Our end date for the course was supposed to be May 29th, 2009 and because we are going into placement late, our end date is going to be extended. For some, they have to change they're after school plans, some people were planning on, and had already planned to move. Now, because of the schools screw-ups, everything has to change.

Also, it surprised me to see how rude some of the teachers are at my school. When I saw the commercials on TV (it was a commercial that got me to call the school) it looked like a great school, the students were happy and said they had great success with their class, and getting into the work field. Honestly, my school is less then half of what those commercials show. I am very disappointed in Everest College. They lie about everything on their commercials and their ads, it's nothing like that. I do not recommened this school for anyone. It's definitly not worth the money you are paying them.

I attend Everest Online College at this present time and I agree that it is a big scam. Every time I turn around it is a problem with financial aid. I thought that it was just me. I had a friend of mines sigh up just to see what was really going on and so to speak, Everest sells you dreams just to get you to sign up. We filled the same paper work out 6 times and only how we knew it was wrong is because we would call to check on his financial report. They waited 5 days before school to tell him it was wrong again and we knew it was right they just wanted us to make changes to stall his money. Once we got it right they tell him it would take up to 4 weeks for his money to post. To me that was wrong. When it is money we have to pay back.

I looked into Everest College once and the next thing I know they are mailing me constantly to enroll. They were calling my house on a regular basis until I told them to stop harassing me! They are simply desperate for students. Turned me off right away.

I attended Everest in London and I have to say that it's not that bad. The program I was in was a tech-based and was an individualized program it was up to the student to advance their education, with guidance from the on-site instructor. After graduation, I applied everywhere and landed lots of interview both in London and in other cities including Toronto. I had a few job offers come up, but I couldn't accept them because of my health. I believe that as hard as the school's training was to swallow for me, coming out of public school, the skills learned at the school proved to be invaluable. I ended up for a top tech-based company, in a different role than my program, and it was great for a while. I believe if I had stuck with the company I would've eventually made my way into a role related to my program; however, my health was also not the greatest. I don't blame my job prospects on my education at Everest at all because the diploma did open a lot of doors that otherwise would have been shut. In the end, to really get started in my field, I used the knowledge learned from my schooling at Everest and started my own company. It was enough to give me an extra boost of experience and build my portfolio to land other job opportunities. Employers know that I work hard, but many times I had to leave my position still because of my health. I have enjoyed my experience because it has made me into the person I am today. The school worked for me because I have a more entrepreneurial outlook, and currently I am planning the start of a new business related to field of study, but also just taking some more time to get better. To those seeking to placement judgments on the school from these reviews, I can tell you that it's easy for someone to speak about a negative experience -- it's just the way humans are conditioned. However, what I find is that a lot of students who attend the school also didn't take the initiative to fully comply with the program and complete the learning material to standard. In my area, there were students who were wasting their time playing video games during class time instead of studying and then complains that they are getting nowhere. Great observation, if only these students would commit themselves then they would see the light that the school provides.

Thames Valley College is even more of a scam than CDI/Everest. The director makes deals with students in attempts to take increasingly larger portions of their OSAP money. Miss a couple weeks of school and the director will inevitably propose a financial arrangement that would cause him to ignore the student's absence. Yes, instead of making up the time missed, Dave, tries to convince students to 'pay a fine' and receive the diploma anyway. This is just wrong!

The only defense people have against these types of places are the internet and in-side knowledge(which most of us do not have.) I guess I was completely naive to think that these places were credible. I figured they were a step-below traditional Universities and Colleges but I did not realize just how badly they are viewed by the general public.

In fact, I truly believe that it cheapens your image in so far as employers are concerened. These private schools do not require the submission of high-school transcripts and I think most employers know this. So, even though you may have completed your high-school education, you may still get lumped into that category with those who did not, and all associations that come with it. It makes sense, you were classmates with them, learned the same material and graduated with them so you are a part of that group. Many employers probably scoff at the schools "fast-track" approach. Employers, when comparing THEIR 3-4 year+ stays at traditional schools cannot think too highly of a "diploma" recieved in a year or in many cases less time than that.

I am trying to get in the head of the people who do the hiring. I had to do so as I wanted to attempt to make sense of the constant rejection I experinced in the job market and the rejection of MOST OTHER grads of private schools. Most of that is common sense anyways but, like I said, I admit that I was not in a clear head space at the time and extremely NAIVE and GULLIBLE!

I went through the whole phase of trying to stick-up for the school I went to and of the "diploma" I recieved. I tried to stand proud of it and act as if I really did have a true, post-secondary education. But after a while, you go through the denial:realization phase and come to terms with the fact that you are no better off than you were when you enrolled in the crappy school. You realize that you lost a [censor]-load of money and a good chunk of time in the process thus putting you in a MUCH WORSE position than when you started!

Here is my little hierarchy of importance in so far as post secondary schools are concerned, employer perception, credit transferabliltiy etc.:
1.Traditional Universities
2.Community Colleges
3.Traditional Unversity certificate programs
4.Community college certificate programs
5.High-School diplomas
6.Private schools

Ah, I see. I was a bit confused there for a bit and thought you too were in London. It seems that CDI swallowed up Toronto School of Business in other cities and just closed the one here The London "campus" was also owned by the same guy that owns a popular downtown buffet style restaurant and he was hiring 'grads' from his school. That's how he was able to say he had such high numbers for his grads having such a high employment number. As soon as you take any job at all after school, they count you as a 'success' story and close off your file.

There's currently another "college" in where Toronto School of Business used to be called Thames Valley Business College. I think they called themselves that as a way to trick people into thinking they might have something to do with the local public school board here. - It's called Thames Valley District School Board. This so-called school is in a building downtown that also houses the local office for Ontario Works (social Assistance).

I'd really like someone to take a hard look at these schools. They have no place at all and only serve to rip off the general public and the tax payer. The only private trade school I know is 100% legit is Welding At It's Best. A friend of mine went there and has never been wtihout work in the last three years. Only down side to that is the long waiting list to get in. - At least a year. By the time you wait, you might as well just go and do the same program at Fanshawe or another public college.

The "career services" was nothing that any of us students could not do on our own. Scour the newspapers and internet based job sites etc. They eventually hired some guy to take care of "job leads"(they LOVED talking about leads) but it made no difference. All of those promises of jobs and stuff came when they were called the Toronto School of Business. Then when they changed to CDI they simmered down a bit and didn't mention all of that stuff like "recruiters" etc. I think now, since they've changed their name to Everest they do none of that. They did get in huge trouble for all of those claims so their marketing has changed. Towrads the end of my stay they created this "job board" to show off all the grads who were hired and by what company. What stood out to me was that in most instances they did not mention WHAT the grad was doing?! They called me up about a month after I graduated asking if I found employment and where. I did not tell them as they would have had another thing to add to that job board. I was at a reputable company but working as a labourer! They would have excluded the labour part of it(the actual job!) and put up my name and the company I work for...it would have looked great for a potential student in orientation(as in...WOW, "X" company hired a CDI grad!), so I declined to give them any info. I think this is also how they used to generate those absurd
98% grads hired" percentages. Anyhow, you can have all the career services and crap you want, if the public(employers and REAL Universities and Colleges) do not recognize theses places as legit it will make no difference...and judging solely from my experiences they do not recognize them!

Altierus Career College / Everest Institute Refund for class that was cancelled

Today's date is feb 23, 2009...still now money. This is a letter I sent October 9th, 2009. I don't think this is right, or fair.

Dear Martha,

I was speaking with Sandra today and she informed me that you are the Regional VP. I have matters and concerns that I would like to bring to your attention.

First of all I would like to give you a little bit of information about myself, so you might understand my grief. I am a single mother of 3, and I rent a home through Ontario housing. My income for a year, through child support alone is $13, 656. I have been dreaming of going back to school to gain a career for many years, and thought when my youngest is 6, and in full time school, that will be my chance. I kept seeing your add on the TV, and thought to myself, this is a sign to go for it. I made an appointment with Patricia in the Admissions Department, did the required test and passed. Patricia made me feel so excited about joining your school, I signed up right away MARCH 03, 2008 handing over a $100 deposit to guarantee my spot in the Medical Laboratory class starting date of SEPTEMBER 29Th, 2008. I had 6 months before I could start school, I was nervous and excited at the same time. I was told there was things I had to do prior to entering the class:

Pre-entrance immunization report completed by my doctor, along with this I had to get 3 twinrix (hep A & B needles) so far I have received 2 my next one due is in January 2009. Each needle COST: $62.69 X2 = 125.38

I also had to get a TB skin Test COST $ 40.00

For my OSAP done through Everest financing I had to get a Statutory Declaration filled in and signed by August from the City of Brampton COST $30.00

I had to en roll my daughter into a child car service while I was attending school. I had to register my daughter into PLASP to start September 3rd, to secure her placement, for when I was to start September 29Th. COST $40 Registration fee
$82. 80 bi-weekly
$15.30 PA DAYS
$11.80 Early release days
I had 3 payments come out in the month of September - 03, 15, and 29Th, also 1 PA day included in total...= $303.70 Because of my lack of income, I would be entitled to child subsidy, but they will not help with payments until my schooling had started.

I was extremely excited when I received in the mail my notice of assessment from OSAP with my assessment result dated September 07, 2008. It reads " Your OSAP application has been assessed and you are eligible to receive the following amount of funding:
Canada-Ontario Integrated Student Loan $12, 655
Canada Study Gran for Students with Dependents $1, 240
Millennium Bursary $3, 000

In order to receive the millennium bursary you had to apply prior to Sept 27, 2008, which I did.

September 19Th in the evening, I received a phone call from Sandra the director of administration telling me the class I should have been in was no longer, and could I come in to start the Medical Laboratory class September 22nd. I would be a week behind and would need to catch up. I nervously agreed knowing the additional work I would be having to do to catch up, and additional homework to my home life. I showed up early Monday morning all ready for class, feeling very nervous. I went to the reception area to sign in as told during our orientation. The receptionist told me to go to room #14. As I was walking into the classroom I was approached by the Med Lab teacher Alia. Alia was very rude to me asking why I was in her class, I mentioned that I was sent there by the reception. She replied by raising her voice, telling me I'm not in her class. I felt so embarrassed as she demanded for me to take a seat while she found out what was going on. As I sat there I thought I didn't pay money to be humiliated or have to play catch up. I left to go back to reception I wanted to speak with Sandra, the lady I spoke with on Friday night...there had to be something wrong. While I sat waiting for Sandra to arrive into work, Alia came into the reception area, she was talking down to me and being very sarcastic and rude, why I don't know. The receptionist witnessed everything, and said "don't worry I am reporting everything I just saw to Sandra", she was apologizing for Alia's behaviour. I just sat there wondering what was going on in total disbelief. Another lady came out (I don't know her name) asked me if I was OK, I shook my head and started to cry. She lead me to her office as I told her what had just happened. I saw Sandra and I could tell she felt badly about everything that has happened so far. I was feeling extremely overwhelmed now not being able to attend the class I had signed up for. Sandra was trying to find a solution. I wanted to start a fresh class like everyone else (I am paying like everyone else). I was then told the next class would be in November taught by Glenn (then finding out Glenn has retired and would not be teaching in November) and I was told by Cynthia the President that she did not have a replacement for him yet, when I came to meet with her and Sandra on the 29th of September. I was also informed by child care subsidy that they might have run out of funds to help pay for my child care by then. I am feeling like everything is against me. When I spoke to Cynthia she agreed that she felt terrible about everything that has happened, Cynthia said she would be contacting myself the following day to let me know what she could do in regards to compensation (including my $100 deposit return). That was on the 29th of September today's date is October 9th, and I have not heard from her, as of yet. Sandra had called to see how I was doing (which I thought was very kind).

Today I received a new assessment from OSAP now with the removal of the millennium. I don't see how this is fair why I should loose out on the millennium bursary when it was already approved, and I lost it because the class was cancelled. I asked everyone that if they were to change the dates to November for the next class would all my bursaries still be there...there answers "oh yes I don't see why not". When Caroline in the finance department reapplied my OSAP for the November class it automatically took off the millennium bursary since you only have until September 27th to apply for it...and this was all done on the 29th or there after.

I did everything that was required as a student. I understood that I was to follow all the rules outlined that I had signatured for. I am 42 years old and just wanted to move forward with my life for my family...and I feel like I have been held back, from no fault of my own. I really do believe that Everest College should either fix the OSAP millennium bursary or reimburse me the $3000 that was already there prior to the class being cancelled. And I feel like I have put out money that I really don't have for a class that was not there for myself...

Sandra has all the information that is required to verify everything I am stating is true and she knows the tremendous upset all this has caused myself. I would appreciate a response from yourself in the near future on what actions Everest intends to take to rectify this matter.

Thank you

I worked at Everest College and trust me they are only in it to get your money! Their mission and goal statement "every student, every day, every time" is only in their best interest and gain! It's all about how many suckers per week the admissions reps can enroll -- then how many can they keep past the ad drop -- then how many can sit for 30 days --- yes, you are another number and stat to them.

I have witnessed several times a student enrolled ---me as their admissions rep promising them everything we are "taught and trained" to do.. yet within a week or less everything falls apart!

DO NOT ATTEND! EXPENSIVE, MISLEADING, and TRULY a WASTE OF YOUR TIME!

Altierus Career College / Everest Institute No Diploma

Wow! What can I say? I studied at Everest for a year to be told that after completing everything I am still not getting my diploma. They even told me to start applying for jobs and university assuring me that I was done...and well...now after $10, 000.00 I am not even getting my credential. I'm a wee bit miffed...

Everest College should have a disclaimer that reads:

"You may not be satisfied with our services. We only pretend to care ... please don't get this confused with actually caring. "

That's the end of my rant :P

Altierus Career College / Everest Institute advertisement

I called them to inform them that my daughter & I sat together to catch their advertisement on her attending their school. We watched "Peoples Court" on local #15 for one hour. In that one hour, Everest was advertised 12 times (every 7 min when commericals started). I phoned them to tell them (FYI), their advertisement is a turn off & that we will be looking elsewhere...".is your business doing that badly, I asked?" With that question, the operator started shouting at me. I hung up...they are very unprofessional! They are as obnoxious as Billy Mays selling things. Thank you for letting me blow!

Wow, do you have nothing better to do than watch the Peoples Court and call the advertisers to complain? Sad, very sad.

But yeah, anyone who goes to Everett (or any for-profit school) is an utter ###. Especially online graduate programs. Legitimate grad programs pay YOU to go there.

Altierus Career College / Everest Institute Awful place

I attended Everest Institute (formerly NIT) in Dearborn, MI for Massage Therapy in feb of 2007. I was very confused when I was first denied financial aid without a co-signer but was later 'accepted' completely on my own. I didn't question this until I later quit this hoax of a 'school'.

I liked the program at the beginning until they decided they were going to change our 'mods' or classes around e.g. start at mod D, then go through E-G back to AB and C. Even our instructor said that this was unacceptable for a program such as massage as there are techniques you must learn before others, however, she did not want to lose her job.

About half-way through the course, I had to stop going to school for a few weeks because of work. I contacted my program director and told her the situation. She said I could take a 'leave' and take the mod I would miss at the end of the program. What made me a little skeptical though was that she told me I had to at least show up to class at the end of a certain week to sign in as if I was there. She also told me she would inform my instructor what was going on.

When I showed up the day I was instructed to sign in, my instructor said 'where have you been? What's wrong?' It was made known immediately known that the program director had said nothing to my instructor. I quickly told her what was going on and left.

When I finally was able to return to class I was summoned to the school Director's office. I was told that I was failing and if I missed one more day I would be kicked out of the program. The program director who had told me it was ok to miss sat right there next to me in the room and never said a word. It was absolutely ridiculous that they said I was failing because I received 100% on every single test I had taken.

I'm not the kind of person to be pushed around, especially being an adult PAYING for my education, so I said what do I need to sign to quit this school? The director said NOTHING and I left.

I later found out this had happened to a classmate who quit a month or so before me and quickly called the school to make sure I was dropped. The administration offices said 'did you fill out the drop form?' ARE YOU KIDDING ME? As fast as I could I called Sallie Mae and spoke to a high-up supervisor who stopped my loans immediately as the school was acting as if I was still enrolled to receive money from my loans.

I have now come to the conclusion from speaking to former students that Everest CHANGES your info on your loan application forms in order to get you approved. I tried to go to a different school after I went there with better credit and was denied a loan. There is also a post on this same website from an employee saying they know they change your info.

The school also doesn't prepare you to take any national certification test.

BE WARE!

When I complained to the school about the instructors that they were not teaching all that I needed to know for that module, and that they were changing up the method of giving the test one day before the test, and that the school was extremly noisy every where, and even in the library and concentrating in the classes was very hard. and that I could not come in a little early for class to get some studying done because the instructor was always playing loud music. and the computers were always down and I was unable to get my class work done because the computers were malfunctioning when the computers were not down. I wanted to tranfer to another campus but I was blocked from doing so.

I was just issued a restraining order from the director of career services because of my complaining. He told me the very same day that he would work with me in order to resolve my issues (the same as yours- computers breaking down, excessive noise in the career center, etc.), and then went to the local court house 2 blocks away and filed a restraining order against me, lying, stating that I threatened several staff members of everest. i cant wait to go to court in order to fight this. I graduated from everest two years ago with a 4.0 GPA, after it took me almost 2 yrs in order to complete the program (their fault), and I am still unemployed, but with much HIGHER debt now!

This place is a complete joke. What school would advertise with a minority in baggy clothing yelling at you to do something with your life? Or they will throw in the job and family support upon graduation. Have you ever heard of a medical assistant outside of this clown show? Last I checked they are called nurses and RNs require much more than 8 months of crap instruction. Tell ya what...give me a thousand dollars and I will show you how to take someone's pulse or temperature. Do your investigations prior to commitment. It's not a real school...you were taken advantage of...there are ### people out there who will do this. Real medical experts will laugh at that institution and you for buying in on it.

I went to everest and was in the medical assisting course, they didnt teach us half the stuff medical assistants do. We hasd 2 classes combined, 3 different teachers in 7 months, you can only get a job right away if you know someone at that job or have connections. I am now in debt becuase i cant find a job because the jobs think it's not enough traning as a MA. 7 months isnt enought time to become a great MA. Itried talking to the school and apparently I have 3 student loans and i only rememeber applying for 1. so now i have like 13, 000 dollars in debt and cant even opn a bank acct. I want this school to go to court and be shut down and have us students be waived of our student loans. I do not reccomend this school to anyone.

Anyways I didnt complete my last mod I moved with family in ohio. But that's another story... Anyways I get a letter from everest saying I owe, them $4, 085 for not completing my last mod. (there was no way possible to complete it). But I talked to sallie mae & they already payed everest my FULL tuition. so now everest is just trying to nickle & dime me & they messed up my credit.. I can't even go to school down here. By the way I'm not paying . They already got there 15000

Everest is a joke they promise job placement and don't follow thru. If you are white you do not get any job offers. I believe they only cater to minority students I know of at least 10 white students who went thru this school with no job placements. We are thinking and discussing with an attorney about a law suit.

Our experience was exactly the same as Bhapo. Many others in the same class as my wife also received nothing but promises from the salesperson in the way of job placement.
Sallie Mae should stop helping this band of crooks.

I went 5 of the 8 months without the all the books I needed and they still expect me to pay the full amount due. The teacher simply gave me an A for any homework I couldnt complete due to not having the needed book. Most of the time the lesson was side tracked by nonsense conversation that had nothing to do with anything we were learning. I went for Medical Administration and here it is two years later and over 100 resumes Im still not hired because 1) I do not have insurance experience and 2) the offices around here know Everest is a joke. Anyone thinking about attending this "for profit school" should think twice and seek out a real education by at least attending a community college. Most offer the same courses!

Altierus Career College / Everest Institute Scam/Ripping off people

They take you and tell you for your O.S.A.P and make promises to you, but never keep up there end of the bargain. When you report being abused by other students, which the teacher is present but lies and says she saw and heard nothing, also when you make formal complaints about a teacher the dean threatens you with your course. I also do not feel that a teacher should be having students come over to there home for visits. I also feel that when I pay out the amount of money I paid I should have a teacher, many times the class was left without a teacher and told to teach themselves. I was told to come back to school on a certain date because I did not pass a class due to medical reasons (which the school was informed I was totally disabled and had hospital letters to show why I miss a 1/2 a day more then I was suppose to) I asked the Dean several times is the date or time going to change because they are good at doing that, but was reassured it would not it would not, only to sit in class half a day waiting for the Dean to find out the class started a week earlier. The Dean stated to me she thought I say F*** the class and did not even call me and inform of the change. I asked her now what am I to do her reply was wait until 2010 when the class is up again and come back and do it then? I was suppose to be done my class LAW ENFORCEMENT in July of 2008! I am very upset and disappoint with this school and I would never suggest to anyone to go to this school even if it was there last resort, I would tell the that they should keep looking Everest can not ever be the last resort. They also say on there T.V advertisement that they can help you get your high school diploma, but when I asked about it I was told there was NO way they could help me I was on my own with that!I could go on telling you many other things but I have to go now my kids are calling me, and being a disabled single mother who thought she would try and better her self and try and get a job to help support my kids now owes the government 16 thousand dollars which I do not have being on a fixed income?

I joined Everest for Pharmacy technician after two months I became sick and got admitted to a mental health Institution and they continued taking in my money.

I applied to the Director to Suspend my studentship until when I am out of the hospital she refused.

After getting out of the hospital with a chronic mental health issues which can not allow me to continue to study they have adamantly continued to this day sending me collection message. In September 2013 they sent me another one asking me to pay $4000

Exactly why i didn`t give that school the time of day
I actually went online to get information about a course, and of course you have to give your phone number and address(bad idea)
These idiots have been HARRASSING ME for 4 MONTHS! I never gave them any kind of sign that i even wanted to attend the school.Needless to say they call about 4 times a day.send a letter per week.I`ve heard so many bad things about this school.Too good to be true.Nothing but a scam.Very hard to get an education with this school.I mean, once you graduate and you`re looking for a job.Who are they going to hire, a george brown graduate or someone who graduated from everest...think about it! lol
Not to mention the amount of times their commercials are on per day should show that they`re desperate for students and most importantly...MONEY$$$

Altierus Career College / Everest Institute Courses, Money, Abuse, Put aside, Many more!

Where do I start. First they told me that I would be perfect for the course Law Enforcement, take in the last grade I completed was grade 7.I am also completely disabled, but was told this was the course for me and yes I not understanding completely everything took the course. I passed every class except for three and one was due to I was in the hospital and miss a 1/2 day more then you are allowed to other wise I would have passed that class. I was threaten by other students, put in a complaint and was told there was nothing they could do about it. I had my desk spit on and the teacher was in the class well the student did it, but I was told to just sit down and put up with. I had a class where the teacher tried a swear jar because the other students swore so much I was uncomfortable in class exspcieally when there would get into big discusions about sex, and I mean right into detail, I am sorry that I am not gay and have nothing bad to say about them, but I feel they should keep there sex life just like a strait person should to them self not in class and the teacher would join in and talk about her sex life too? I wrote a formal complaint about this and hand it in, what a mistake. They had me in the same room with this teacher and read to her out loud well I was there, to make the teacher hate me even more. I was given a choice since I had to come back to the school and finish the classes I did not pass, which 2 were with her. I was told to drop my formal complaint or I would not be aloud to come back and finish my schooling. I am proud of myself for passing the classes I did pass and I want to graduate, but to go back now and have to put up with a teacher who knows I put a formal complaint in about her, do you think she is going to pass me? I also was told that I was to come back on November 17, 2008 and my first class would start then. I asked is the date going to change since they do that on you and I was reassured it would not, I arrived to find it had started a week ago so I could go home and wait another year now to complete my course. The teacher who was teaching that class I have to say is a great teacher and tried everything to get me to be able to stay in the class and pass, but the head lady said NO! I am now stuck paying my O.S.A.P every moth even though I am not done my course and will not be done it until 2010. I feel I was lied to and feel they should be paying back my O.S.A.P since I am on disability and they lied to my about everything, threaten me with my course if I did not drop my formal complaint, and also about how it was a hands on school, plus they say they can help you get your high school diplomia, I asked about that and was informed that there is NO way the can help me I am on my own. I was also told that I should get a copy the credits I already got in there school. I am in Sudbury, Ontario, Canada and looking to talk to someone who is higher up then just the the school. I am asking anyone if you can help me get a hold of someone, know a email, phone number, I would be great full since I am stuck paying 17 thousand dollars back to O.S.A.P even though I never complete my course yet? my email is [protected]@persona.ca
Thank You
Melissa

DAMN! I really wanted to go to school and I have been to a community college and they won't let me get financial aid becuase I am still labeled as "dependent" even though I don't stay with my parents, and I do my own taxes. I have been going through this same crap for years so I tried going down to UEI and they said the same thing about the dependent situation but they told me to have 3 ppl write statements stating that i don't get any support from my parents etc. and they were telling me all this good stuff and what not but I go to look at the reviews and I see nothing but "STAY AWAY", "THIS SCHOOL IS ###", ETC and I know someone that actually went to that school and she said the teachers were always quitting and they went without teachers for 2 months, that it is now time for her to pay back her loan and they have not found her a job yet, that she goes up there asking for help all the time and I am just so disappointed! I went to the orientation and everything. I don't know what to do I was gonna try to check out everest but now I don't know... If anyone has any advice please email me @Nyissa_larose@yahoo.com because I would really like to get my career started while I am young and don't have any kids or anything else holding me back. please, words of wisdom only!

hello
I am attending Everest College in newmarket for the Medical Office Adminatration course and I have gone through alot of ### with this school. First of all, in March 2009, I left a community college because I was not enjoying my program. I really wanted to back into school because I just wanted to get it done and over with so, I looked into going to Everest College. I called them, and the rep wanted me to come in THAT DAY to talk about enrolling. When I went in, the rep was really nice and asked me a bunch of questions about my previous education and my goals in life and blah blah blah. he told me how I could graduate in less than a year and how I would be guaranteed a job, and the school would help me with a placement when i was done, so I thought it was perfect considering I could start in just a few days. After words, I went to see the girl that delt with OSAP and I explained to her that I may have a problem getting all of my funding because I already had funding this year from my previous school, and he told me `that everything was fine and it would work out.`` So she told me that I could start school and then I could apply to OSAP in a few weeks.
So the following week, was my first day at Everest. (oh by the way, i had to shell out $900 for my books because I had not yet applied to osap and needed my books right away). A few weeks into the course, I finally applied to OSAP. My tutition costs abour $10, 000 and my approximate funding would only be $7, 000 which means I would be out $3, 000. The reason for this is because I was only 18 at the time, not 2 years out of highschool, and still considred a dependant under my dad (even thought I am not living with him right now)(which is a major loophole in the system.) So I was really upset when I found out that I would be stillneeding to owe the school $3, 000 so Everest told me that I should write a letter to OSAP telling them why I needed the whole tutition amount. On 3 seperate ocassions I had to write letters explaining how I do not live with my dad anymore, a letter from my boyfriends parents proving that I live with them, a letter stating how much income comes in a month, and how my budget is laid out. I was hoping that OSAP would see that I was only working part-time, and could not afford the $3, 000 on my own. When the OSAP rep at Everest got the letters back from OSAP, they said that `this situationis too complicated`and they were only going to give me the $7, 000.
So now I had to figure out another way to get the rest of the money. I tired applying for a student loan, but I did not get approved even with a co-signer. ( I just want to let you guys know that I was called intot the financail reps office quite a few times dealing with this money situation, they kept telling me everything was going to be fine, and everytime I thought everything was worked out, there was another problem.) So a few months ago, they called me again and we decided I would do the star program, which was i could make payments to the school after i graduated at 18% interest which was my last option. So we decided that was the route I was going to take, we didnt fill out any info though because I didnt want the school to take money out of my account). So I am in class 3 weeks ago thinking everything was FINALLY delt with, and another finance rep pulled me out of class regarding the money that I owed to the school. great. They had the nerve to tell me that about a month ago, Everst College had stopped doing the start program so now I would have to pay the $3, 000 in full NOW. Well how the hell am I going to do thatÉ I only have 4 months of school left and I have been dealing with this BEFORE I even atrted the course. I TOLD THE SCHOOL that I knew I was going to have problems with money before I even started and they kept saying`dont worry, everything will work out`. yeah right. I also want to mention that I was giving the school some money when I had the chance, just to give them SOMETHING to get them off my back for a while. When the school told me that they cancelled the star program, I was a wreck, it was my final way of paying them back. The one girl tole me that and I quote`IF YOU MAKE AN EFFORT TO GIVE US MORE MONEY, (insert name here) WILL FIGHT AND TRY AND GET THE STAR PROGRAM FOR YOU, AND SHE WILL BE PUTTING HER CAREER ON THE LINE FOR YOU. ###.
So now I am trying to get a student loan wll by myself and I am still having problems. And its not just the money situation, its everything but it is way too much to tell on here. if anybody knows what I can do, please email me at rachel_1190_hotmail.com.
oh, and they threatened to put me in collections if i cant get the money, and hold my diploma whe i gradutae.
Lovely isnt it.

I am a student at Everest College located in Toronto at 117 Eglinton Ave East.
Everest College is just HUNTER OF MONEY! They don’t even explain the classes. Since September 2007 that I started Network Administrator program I went there to sit and read my books there is no explanation of anything and if you don’t understand and ask the instructor called Mihal Miu starts talking about his adventures and what he has done in South Caroline(U.S.A) with a truck company. I DIDNT PAY TOO MUCH MONEY TO LISTEN A LOSER LIKE THAT ONE ABOUT HIS LIFE AND AT THE END OF THE CLASS HE NERVER Explained nor answered the student concern.
On October 28th 2008 I have done my 2nd test of Linux Administration and when I have requested a review Mihal Miu said to me to ask department of education because he didn’t care due that he is only replacing Mr. Yash (currently teaching accounting). Mihal Miu also told me that he knew my answer were wrong because he knows linux and he told me to look in Wikipedia for the correct answer. Where I have question myself Am I paying Everest College too much money to get an answer like this one?!
So, I have called Department of Education and I talked to the director Andrew. Andrew told me that he won’t follow up my complaints due that he talked to the teacher Mihal Miu and he said that He has done the test review with me and that he said that the Linux Administration book has wrong information, and how the book is not an Everest book that is my problem . Mihal also told him that the other students answered correctly the question in the test because they didn’t miss too many classes as I did!
Mr. Andrew also added that he has done a review about the teaching skills of Mihal Miu and the night students said that he is very good teacher and friendly person... Of course those kids will say that because that Mihal Miu play internet games with the students in the Computer lab located in the 2nd floor and he tell them jokes and say stupid things as they also do. Andrew the director ended up asking me if I have a personal issue or problem with Mihal Miu where I have answered "What was he talking about, I don’t even know the students names and I will have a personal issue?"
Mr. Andrew as well told me that I missed many classes where I reminded him that due of my hours of work from 12AM to 8:30AM for the last 2 years I have been very sick due of the stress and the lack of sleep, I also added that in my college file is the doctors note where my doctor formally informed about my illness and why I have missed half of may 2008 and almost all June 2008.
The fact is since the first project I got when Mihal Miu realized that I have some more knowledge and work experience than the other students in the computer lab HE CHANGED THE PROJECT AND HE GAVE ME AN OLD Project with more questions to complete and it had few difficult questions.
Another fact, In the Windows 2003 test I have got 48% in the test so I technically failed and when I have checked the answers in my book I found that one of my question I DID Answer correctly BUT the test Software marked as Wrong, then I approached Mihal Miu to let him know the issue and that I passed the test Mihal said he will check the database to correct my mark on the test… HE NEVER DID IT. One week after Mr. Yash came back to teach us and he told me that my mark on the Windows 2003 test was 48% and that I failed. I ended up showing and explaining again to Mr. Yash that I informed Mihal Miu that my answer in the test was correct and he promised to correct my mark in the data base so at the end Mr Yash went back to the Software Database and check each answer in the Windows 2003 test!
Finally I like to add that I have sent an email to Campus Director Marta Kombogiorgas and she didn’t answer.
I have paid my Network Administration program of my RSPs $ 5, 000 CAD dollars and since last September 2008 I am monthly paying $ 249 CAD Dollars so I believe how I never caused any issues and I am always paying on time, I never asked for any penny to anyone and I rarely failed in tests.
I deserve a formal review of my test and good tutor to teach me Linux Administration properly due that I have the right to understand Linux administration. This is a tool I never used and it’s very different of Microsoft Operating systems which I have been using for over 13 years

Altierus Career College / Everest Institute i have had no teacher or isntructure or supplies to work with since i started school and this is my last month

My name is Ana Sanchez Gonzalez . I now attend Everest College the Gardena Campus, I am taking Dental Asst, my finish date is 11/08.
I have witness through my intire time in school that we have not had a steady teacher and we have had no supplies to work with during lab, and we have not had a instructure eigther.
I have also witness the school drop so many students at one time for mistakes that the school has made.
I have a example here for you, my good freind has attended the same school with me and is a straight A student and is very helpful in class towards other students and has not missed 1 day since she started school she went into her 4th month and was almost done, her finish date was 03/09. Why did the school asked her to take a leave of absent till march of 2009 over a mistake that they made through the department of financial aid at our school when she was almost finished!
I see that very wrong how did it take the department of financial aid so long to see that there was a probblem with her financial aid paper work! We are talking about a probblem that has been there since 2007 with her reaplying for financial aid!
My freind on another occasion before she was so long far into school which was her 2nd month came to the school with letters that were mailed to her and bruoght it to there attention and asked if there was any probblems with her financial aid in respond they stated to her that not to worry about nothing that everything was fine!
To my nowledge this school is not being raned correctly by people with expirience!
Thats not the only absurbe thing i've heard and witness happened at the school.
Now we were without supplies for 7 months straight going on 8 months now! I just dont understand how the school went and purchased a x-ray equipment for the value of $30, 000 dollars for our lab class and we have been and still dont have supplies and were still told that were not aloud to use the x-ray equipment! So my question is, "Why would they purchase that most expensive piece of equipment and leave us with no supplies and still tell us we cant use the equipment?
Now the other day the teachers had us on our hands and knees scraping the ground to clean it up! I am very upset! not just me but everyone in the dental class! Why did they have us on our knees and hands scraping the floor on our uniforms?
We are in school to learn a carreer not to be told to get on our knees and clean all morning!
Another thing why were the teachers getting very upset when we told her we were'nt going to do it!
Dont they have a janitor to clean the floor!
Another thing theres been probblems among students minor probblems, why went it was brought to the teachers attention and the whole intire school attention nothing was done or said about it to resolve it, the teachers decided to do something about it after the fact that somebody got physsically hurt not once but twice! WHY?
Now teachers bring thier personal probblem to school and try to take it out on us like if we were little or their kids by screaming and just telling us well you like it or you dont!
There is so much more going on in our school against so many students who are totally inocent without a doubt who are loosing intress in continueing school!
Our College shoul'nt be ran like this by people who dont have experience!
We are paying too much money to be without a teacher for 7 months and not having supplies for the past 7 months!
I have witness this school see us as $ dollar sings only and not as humans that we are trying to get somewhere in life!
If you have any questions feel free to contact me through my e-mail address which is [protected]@yahoo.com at any time!
If you need me to gather you more witnesses to all this wrongfully matters please feel free to inform me!

Thank-you!

"HOPEFULLY YOU WILL DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT TO HELP US AS HUMANS AND NOT JUST $ DOLLAR SIGNS"!

If you have any questions feel free to contact me through my e-mail address which is anagonzalez117@yahoo.com at any time!

Altierus Career College / Everest Institute Poor Quality

I took a course there . It was Network & Internet Security Specialist . The cost of this course was around $16, 000 . There is no class there, only they gave me a computer and I had to study by myself and when I had a question, usually It took a long time to get answer . I just passed the exams and didn't learn much . I have lost my money and time as well . I strongly beleive that, EVEREST COLLEGE IS ONE OF THE WORST COLLEGES IN CANADA.

@ mohsen:
i feel sorry for you man. Maybe you just got the wrong teacher, lol. I'm studying at Everest College-SCarborugh, Network Security Specialists Course. We always have 2 hour classes every day mostly focus on Cisco for CCNA exam, sometimes some even complain that we are being taught more advanced than what is really covered in our courses. If there are questions with regards to the lessons, the teacher will answer it ASAP even sometimes when he's having a lunch or coffee break.

Most of the people i know already landed a job even before they finished so why don't you come and visit sometime and talk to our instructor.

Just because a business calls itself a "university" does not mean it is a UNIVERSITY
Bottom line:DO YOUR RESEARCH!

Your an idiot they told you everything up front you just didn't know how to listen. That's why you still don't have your degree I bet.Every college is diffrent in how it conducts itself. Some schools the federal money goes to the student whom has to pay the school with it.Everest does it the other way around. This is good for those students like you who just want free money ( that's how they look at it...I deal with delinquent students all day who say I didn't know I had to pay that back. sigh..and DUH! If it's not in writing it never happened and if it is in writing READ IT so you don't leave complaints that aren't true.

This school sucks I hate the every 15 minute commercial with that insulting no acting gay looking black guy who calls you lazy and stupid and declares they will stay in your face until you go to their worthless school that they spend more on advertising than actually teaching you anything. I want to start a signature petition to ban the ads from TV or boycott the networks that allow this madness to continue...Who's with me? Fox, WSXP, CWC, WOTV, and CBS these are just a few stations in Grand Rapids MI.

Why don't they insult white people's kids? because their rich dads would kick their ###, dirty ###. Now that was funny...LOL If I ever see that that black guy I'm gonna kick him in the his girlie balls, they will be lodged in his tonsils.

This review/complaint is about Travel and Tourism program in Everest College of Toronto, ON. The program has 2 instructors, one for the core program and the other for computer and typing skills. Both instructors have serious mental health issues in that they try to make education as stressful and discouraging as possible. But the computer skills instructor is really something. I am pretty sure she has been spending time in mental hospital as she tries to intimidate students directly and repeatedly by not accepting their project work and repeating exams. I don't know if of college authorities are reading this but PLEASE check your instructors for mental health before recruiting them. It was a very bad experience that discouraged me from ever taking a course in any college.

My husband and I attended Everest College in Burr Ridge IL. and moved to Orlando Fl.
My husband graduated as a Message Therapist and when we moved here we found out that he was still missing some CE (continuing education) Classes. He went to the local school here in Orlando and was enrolled but then told that he had to go to some other school. Come to find out that Director of the Massage course never took time to find out who he was which is a Graduate of Everest. Anyway, he finally get a meeting with the Schools President and the Director and he was told that not to worry that the classes would be comped and he only had to go for a month to get the credit he needed for his Massage License. Now he has been sitting in the school with no one know what to do with him. No one has been out to help him and get him started.
This school has so many issues that you can't trust anyone any more. We have 2 loans out of $16, 000 each and we can't get any help who do we see or speak too. They have a promise that you are their student for life you can go to them at any time so what now?
Think before going PLEASE!

My complaint revolves around the parking! Before I continue I have read some of the other complaints and I am a little confused…

I had a great experience, met a really amazing admissions counselor (Shabir) who helped me map out a plan. My instructor was fair and challenged me, (Mr. Emblton) that is why I graduated and was hired at my placement (thanks Gina ). I read so many complaints on this board and heard so many from classmates and feel that they are at least as much to blame. I had tough days and heavy loads, which student doesn't? The difference in the outcome depends upon the response. Therefore my second complaint is against those who post rage rants while presenting half truths. Too bad this board doesn’t contact the business and give them a chance to present both sides.

Ever notice anytime someone fails that it is someone or some things fault and when they achieve their goals, it was because of them…hmmm… None of them posted their progress reports or placement evaluations...hmmm… I am responsible for my success and failure. Everest was a great school for me academically and I am better equipped for my future. There is no Wi-Fi and not enough parking space; they need to modernize their building. I feel that these investments can create a world class learning environment.

I attended Everest College From Sept 2009 - May 2010 and completed externship on June 18, 2010. I ask for a letter of recommendation to continue my education as a dental hygienist from Mrs Xandra Redic who is the Dental Department Chairman, who told me she didn't want to sound bias in the letter. I also emailed Anthony McKenna, who is the Director of Admissions, and no response. I received excellent grades of "B" average, and wasnt accommodated . I also had questions about my student loans and no one answers or returns phone calls. Not to mention the fights and the attitudes the instructors have. SAVE YOUR MONEY DO YOUR RESEARCH

This was the worst school I ever attended in my life biggest mistake I've ever made. Not only did they kick me out for being in the hospital for a week. Then the school closes down and claims bakruptcuy and put me into collections. Not osap. Everest college it's self claims collections on me . If they think they gonna get money out of me they seriously mistaken I'm glad they got booted from ontario they shouldn't be allowed to f*** with people's lives like this. They should be paying out to all the students for wasting our time. That we could have been spending with a school if value. With actual education benifits for the students.

Biggest scam school that I have ever seen. I attended at ottawa east campus for cardiology technologist program. Discrimination is to the point that some students get 5 rewrite by fighting it and one like me had to be terminated from the program after my 3rd rewrite. one student could come back 4 month before enrolment from the previous class and they are trying so hard to make me change the program to something else while so far i paid them over 30.000.00$ THIS SCHOOL WILL PROMISE YOU THE HELP AND SUPPORT THEN ONCE YOU GET IN AND PAY THAT MONEY, YOU ARE ###ED WITH THAT DEBT. if I had chance to sue them I wouldn't waste a second

Altierus Career College / Everest Institute - TV ads

Everest College advertises from morning to late afternoon, Monday-Friday, EVERY COMMERCIAL BREAK, sometimes twice in a break, during judge, cop, and talk shows (channel 13 here in Seattle). I'm so sick of them. How can anyone afford to advertise so much? Their ads are insulting and idiotic and every one of them is the same stupid format: talk a few...
