To all of you looking to find love out there,

Please do you and your wallet a big favor and do not use events and adventures to find it! This company preys on vulnerable, unsuspecting, lonely individuals to make a quick buck - which happens to be thousands of dollars! Once you sign the events and adventures contract and step out the door, consider yourself screwed! Please do your research on this company, I wish I would have. Go to the better business bureau and see that, "nationally, events and adventures offices have been the focus of more than 130 complaints in the past 36 months, more than 60 of those in the past year. Those complaints allege a variety of problems, including misleading promises about membership demographics, misleading information about the club activities, refusal to honor oral cancellation promises and employee rudeness." don't take my opinion for it. Look at the facts. Events and adventures will be brought to justice soon enough for its bad business practices, but I would hate to see any more of us lose our money. That's why I am writing this review. I hope that it helps at least one person from making a costly mistake.

It is a total scam, my friend did it he only met a bunch of people and they work for the company so nothing ever happens anyways. They just hire people that work within the company to pretend that they’re interested in you and they’re not so it really is a big scam that’s why they’ve had class action lawsuits over and over again in Canada, the USA, Australia, New Zealand and all of the UK. They repeatedly use your money to do advertisements to get more money out of people one person I know that tried it, signed a contract and when he went to the bank to pay his rent he had zero dollars in his bank account because they took it all over $7000

yes, they lie about the demographics, and why do they need a $2600 contract if they have a real service? Why are all reputable dating / singles services free or a fraction of the cost of E&A?

They have a website that has no technology, no mobile app, and seems to pour all their money into advertising and boiler room sales tactics. If this is a legit company, why the hardline contract with almost NO evaluation period? Something like 72 hours?

These guys need to be investigated by the Justice Department... predatory tactics targeted at recently divorced highly emotional singles. Its shameful.

I wouldn't call it a scam, it gives me new things to try out but their promiss of meeting single people to date and perhaps enter into a ltr is a bit much.
I joined a few months ago and so far not overly impressed, all I met is a lot of couples, If you aren't a type A personality, you'll probably end up like me, all alone in a room where any of the females I'd want to meet are surrounded 4 deep by all the type A males. I wind up sitting in a corner by myself texting a friend or playing some mindless cell phone video game, and wind up leaving early.

Sadly I have had a very poor experience with E&A...I was excited to explore this subscription options and did schedule a interview. ...the approach that the office I was in (DFW) was very high pressure and specials/ sales pitches for this special $ price today only style...I agreed to a 24 hour cancel option subscription and decided within that time frame that it wasn't going to fit my finial needs at this time...I have been trying to get a refund since the end of November on my credit card and it has been a huge headache...it also had the huge expense of having to send a certified letter for $30 to cancel that the staff member forgot to mention. ...it was a very unprofessional and used car sales man pressure sale style experience and sadly has completely turned me off of A&E...sounded great on the radio ads but when the rubber met the road it was a Wreck : ( just wanted to share my personal experience. ...buyer beware...

They cleaned out my checking account to a perfect $0.00 balance! This "business" is awful!

The day after I signed up for this program, I had a significant death in my family. When I tried to look up a number to call (so I could cancel my membership), there was nothing. I tried to call "Rhonda" back, who was the sales person that I just spoke with the day before, her line was disconnected. Then I somehow got in touch with a Rebecca at [protected] who has been useless. I have left her multiple messages and have gotten nothing back from her.

I still have not received my refund! They have zero empathy and are only in it for the money.

I have joined the Houston, tx branch of e and a. it is a total scam. they charge 2355$ for one year, they tell you this includes all your food, drinks, and anything associated with the events, unless you have to rent equipment or get a hotel room for out of town events. they tell you, you can cancel at anytime for a full refund. then once they get your money you have no idea you have 72 hrs to change your mind. if you want a refund they have to get a certified letter, before they will process the refund. this does not give a person enough time to know if they want to cancel. I signed up on a Saturday. the first event I went to, was on the following Thursday. that's when I noticed I had to pay for everything. then I sent a certified letter to the owner. I also sent an email to the owner. all he would say was how great the club was and he would forward my email to the Houston branch to take care of it. nothing was ever done (surprise). the events they plan are terrible. the only events they plan are softball, volley ball, bar hoping. these events are free to the public anyway. so what are we paying 2355$ for? then they have partys, at the so called club house, which is a house in a neighborhood. when the members attend these, they have to bring their own food, and drinks, and on top of that you will be charged a fee ranging from 5$ to 45$. to help pay for the dj, in the garage. so why should the members pay anything else after payijg 2355$. also if you look at various web sites all these great reviews are posted for e and a. they are done by e and a workers. that way the bad reviews will get pushed down to the bottom. do not join this rip off group. save your money! they are nothing more than rip off artists which should be sued. I am going to talk to a lawyer about that very thing next week. I hope I help someone else with this. this club just prays on lonely people looking for friends. stay away from this club!

I agree some people may expect too much out of this club and are not satisfied with anything no matter how good it is. That is not the problem with E&A. The problem is the trick they play with their initiation fee. While many other clubs have initiation fee, it is less than 1K$ and after initial payment, you continue paying membership of

Lies. the people are not anywhere close to the description. I changed my mind after my first visit and they said I owe them the whole 3 yr membership of 3600 dollars. Apparently once you sign, there is no way of getting out of it. That's where they make their money. You are stuck unless you are willing to have it affect your credit.

@ Darren7

wow.. do you work for the company or something? Its nice to see you miss the point of these complaints.. It's not a matter of they charge a fee, it's a matter that they are so RUDE about it, if you even hesitate or want to think about it, even resorting to name calling, or denigrating you and your perceived lack of a a dating situation if you won't join on the spot. Sort of like you just did when addressing those who have complained.

So, Darren, which E&A are you employed with?

Oh also, the comments on this site reccomending Events and Adventures are usually fake testimonials done by E&A themselves. Check this out (from http://www.topix.com/forum/city/newton-ma/TE8D5VH3N1NKGL8AI)

This review is also on the citysearch page for Atlanta. It's a long way from FL to GA to MA to get someone to write a good review. Gee, I wonder where her paycheck comes from?

As a member of Events and Adventures for almost two years, I can honestly say that it is the best thing I have done for myself since my divorce ten years ago. Events and Adventures provides a great opportunity to meet both male and female singles and provides a great chance to network. The group allows you to do things you enjoy without having to go by yourself. I have kayaked, flew a helicopter, sang at karaoke, attended baseball games, played laser tag and miniature golf, mingled at Happy Hours, participated in Zumba classes, learned how to shoot archery, attended Broadway musicals, just to name a few. Another reason I recommend E&A is that there is no stress. All you do is show up; It really is the easiest way to meet other singles. Events and Adventures is better than anything else I have tried as a single person. I believe the reason E&A is so successful is because of the quality of people. The women in E&A actually are very friendly. I have attended Meet Up events and not one woman has ever come up to me and introduced themselves. At E&A the women genuinely want to cultivate friendships with both sexes and welcome new members to the club readily. The men in E&A are also very courteous and conduct themselves as gentlemen. In the two years I have been a member, I have never had a man say or act inappropriately to me. This speaks very well for the quality of men in E&A. I hate to admit it, but I have been a member and/or participated in: It’s Just Lunch, Great Expectations, Match, Cupid, Speed Dating events, and Lock and Key parties and have never met the same quality of people that Events and Adventures has. E&A has really been a lifeline for me when I find myself single again after being in a relationship and I can’t say enough about what the group has provided to me. The membership fee definitely was worth every cent I paid and more.

BUSTED! Idiots.

I can't believe I was fooled into buying a membership at this place. It sounded cool on the radio and I had some extra money at the time, so unfortunetley I signed up. They gave me a deal, down payment on my credit card of $695.

Went to one event, ONE person there my age, out of about 40 (I'm 27 and consider someone "my age" up to ten years older than me, if that can help explain the crowd)
Next event I had to slip out of the back door because some older man kept asking me to come over sometime. Ew. I think I lasted at that events a total of 5 minutes.

I put it on the back burner for a while because I fell ill and couldn't participate. When I went to look at the signed papers I realized that this wouldn't be easy. They kept putting me off on the phone, trying to scare me with sending my bills to claims to get the money eventually. Psh., I got a doctors letter and called again. I can tell you I called about 15 times before I could speak to someone that could talk to me about canceling. They were always" out to lunch" or had "just stepped out" I let them know it was ### every time.

One day they were giving me the runaround again, so I said. What time are you open till? "7 o clock."

Guess who calls 10 minutes later? Icing to the cake: without me even saying a word about why I was calling, she knew my name and knew that I wanted to cancel.

I said, well don't worry I'm coming down to talk to you. I have a doctors letter that you need to read.

She said.. "Well, I'm packed with appointments. Maybe tomorrow. I said it's ok, I'll wait. I'll be there around 6:30. This was about 4 p.m.

I may have signed up for this discpicable service, but I'm a lot smarter when I'm PISSED OFF.

I hopped in my car and jetted to their Ft. Lauderdale office, which is about 45 minutes from me.

You won't freaking believe this part.

After I had parked, I saw the lights in the office turn off. So I KNEW there was someone in there. I looked into the dark office from outside and not a person to be found. They're such idiots they forgot to lock the door. At this time it's only about 5 o'clock. I walk in. Hello?

There's about 4 people in one room, stuttering, the lady said "We've had some canellations. MY ###. I give her my doctors letters and shove my arm in her face which was taped up over dried blood from a painful procedure to implant a PICC line, which is a semi-permanent IV. I said, would you go out with this on your arm?! here's my doctors note, HAVE A GOOD DAY. I flicked them off as I left. I said I'll call in the morning to see that I am not charged 250 dollars tomorrow, or else I'm contacting the BBB. She originally said they can't process a cancellation that quickly. It was done the next day to my surprise. I can be a total ### and I'd be scared of me too.

So all in all, they got about a grand from me. I don't know if I am entitled to any money if this does become a class action lawsuit. But I will 100% pack you and others that got had in saying this is a TOTAL SCAM. SLEAVY people, I have dates of all of my calls, reponses, etc. I have my original papers, etc. I chose to not write mail or fax/send documents, as I knew they would purposley delay all paperwork. I just BARELY caught them in person when they are supposedly in the office till "7'o'clock.

There's actually more to the story, not much but just perposterous actions. Oh yeah, they charged me 25 dollars for a month that had been cancled.

I hope you go down in flames E&A. Trying to still rip me off after telling them I was having life threatening health complications. Go to HELL.

I am in a similar situation: events sucked and contract is written in such a way that looks like cancellation is easy, which it is, but it's that damn initiation fee that is not. Very very very unfair. They preyed on an innocent person who was just looking to make some friends.

Some of these complaints are completely foolish, who complains about not being able to get out of a verbal contract, you sign papers for a reason. (Oral cancellation promises? Can you read?) Really, misleading promises about membership demographics? Did someone tell you there were all 35 year old handsome rich men and it turns out the group has all kinds of people and ages duh...? There are in most cities over 30 events a month in every part of town, the demographics depends upon the event, location and other variables...usually people over 45 or so do not go to a beer pong party and the younger generation is not going to the theater. I have been a member in the St.Louis club and southern Florida, and I KNOW IT DOES NOT COST 4K! These complaints are from unhappy people who probably cannot be pleased no matter what and they are not even telling the truth. A national company with locations all over the country, 60 complaints so thats 2 complaints or so from every location per year? That's pretty good, what's sad is people who are "Not the sharpest tool in the shed". are logging these complaints and others actually listen.
If you want to meet upscale people in a casual friendly way then join, if you are broke, negative and cannot afford to join then do not join because we do not want to meet you! Really... who complains and organizes a class action suit against a social club, it is what you make it. To each his own... just keep in mind some people cannot be pleased. E&A is not cheap but entertainment is usually not cheap, with events going on literally everyday you should be able to find a few things you like, afford and stuff within your interest level and age level. Guess what... if you don't like to drink don't go to the cocktail mixers, if you do not like Mexican food don't go to the night at the Mexican restaurant, do not go to the museum if you do not like art- do not go to the car show mixer if you don't like cars- if you do not like to go to local festivals, bowl, play volleyball or go on a nature walk, play games, meet and mingle with new people do not join if you do like to do those things and realize nothing is perfect and everything costs then join! .

I work for Microsoft and manage a billion dollar portfolio. Yet I’m the foolish one. Interesting.

I was supposed to be getting married. It was called off. Somehow these creeps managed to talk me into the door on the day I was supposed to get married. They knew I wasn’t in an emotionally stable position, and they used that as a way to talk me into signing.

I’ve never used the service, not once. I never had a desire to join in the first place. I didn’t want this. Yet they still got me to sign on the dotted line. I tried to explain this, multiple times to multiple people. Not that it matters because the front desk person “doesn’t know how to reach anyone”. If you honestly think this is a reputable company, you’re the [censored]. Just because some people enjoy it doesn’t absolve them of their crimes against others. [censored]

I have belonged to this group for almost two years. I did not join to meet a mate, I joined to go out and have a good time. I have done and along the way, I have meet many nice people and have forms several friendships that are genuine. I now have a smaller group of great friends that I wouldn't know or have if I had not joined this group. You get out of it what you put into it.

I have been a member for years. E & A is not a dating service. If you are looking for "LOVE" and only "LOVE" - well maybe E & A not for you. E & A is for a group of strangers - whom become friends - by events they sign up for. You can go to an event, not know anyone, and leave knowing multiple great people. If you have a very busy schedule, do not have time to schedule time for fun - then E & A is your social connection. AND for the record - if LOVE is meant to be it will happen with this group and it has many times. So the complaints above - just did not get what the program was about. THEY ARE JUST UNHAPPY & WILL CONTINUE BEING UNHAPPY AND WHINNERS> I know what I am talking about - I started a few years ago in Bellevue Washington and transfered to AZ and did not know anyone. I work 42 + hrs a week. I am a female uncomfortable going places where I do not know anyone. When you work alot of hrs/you dont have time to go meet people, you have no social life. So you contact E & A and get connected. SO CALL THEM - YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT> So if you stop yourself because of a unhappy people whom really did not get what it is about / then YOU will be missing out on the time of your life. jt/AZ

Just because some simple minded fool like you enjoys their (now non existent events) doesn’t absolve then of committing actual crimes and breaching ethical practices. [censored]. Why don’t you check out one of their countless class action suits? Like illegally recording their membership interviews with potential clients which cost them $1M in settlements. Or how about what’s happening now mid pandemic? Another class action..

Do some research before you run your mouth.

Really? Fleeced? Sometimes I wonder if people who whine all the time like you guys are still single because...They whine all the time like this! Get a life - wait, you passed on that. I've been a member for over a year, and I love the club. Yes, I actually (gasp) renewed my membership. I'd feel like an idiot if I wasn't haveing so much fun. I'm in Phoenix, check out the facebook at events and adventures phoenix. THAT is the place to find out what active members think about the club. Maybe the problem with you guys is that you are too busy trying to find the negative in everything that you forgot how to have FUN! One of you never even joined - how can you have any idea whether E&A is good or bad? At least the other guy might have gone to a couple events. I interviewed in Phoenix, so I have no clue what they are like in SF, but my interview was a typical sales interview. I filled out a bunch of paperwork, I passed whatever their minimum criteria was, then they tried to sell me a membership. What did you THINK was going to happen? Yeah, it was pricey, but I was BORED TO DEATH before I joined. BTW what does "They fully minded people" mean? Your comments aren't even literate. I guess that is a knock on the club - someone let you in...
