ERS Debt Collection

I recieved a bill from ERS stating I owed over $800 to Chase. I have never had an account with Chase, a loan with Chase or done any business with Chase. I had just pulled my credit report 3 weeks ago and there was nothing from this company or any credit issue for that amount. I tried calling and no answer numerous times. Do they expect people to get a bill and just pay it without checking the validity of the account?

ERS harrassment rude badgering

calling up to 6 times a day, called my place of employment, I am paying creditor have discussed this on multiple occassions and they continue to call, harrassing that I need to verify information, told them to remove my work number from their system, that I must make payment arrangements or they will continue to call as many times as they would like in a given day. I have informed them that I am paying the creditor, I will not pay both of them and that I had just received latest statement from the creditor. They call again an hour later asking the same thing telling me that I have to consistantly verify information and then they will stop calling, then they call again a few hours later. When is enough enough? They are rude, badgering, nasty people that call, don't listen to anything and are demanding payment arrangements and I keep saying no I will not I am paying the creditor

ERS Harassment/stalking

These people call my work every day, even after I asked them directly not to. They also stalked my house, went over to my neighbor's house, and then proceeded to tell them that I was a criminal. They've even called the same neighbors on the phone. Each time some one calls or comes by the house, it's someone different. They never leave the same name, and when I do call, the person they tell me to ask for is never there. Their practices are evil. While I believe that anyone owing money should pay their debts, these people should NOT be rewarded for fear tactics and harassment. Go directly to the people you owe the money to and make a deal with them directly. We need to cut out these middle people--and we need to implement a law against them as stalkers. They watch my house all day. This is why I bought a gun. I never know how far they may take their stalking.

I did. I finally sent a certified letter to them, stating that they are to stop harassing me. I also filed a complaint with the FTC and Better Business Bureau. I feel for the people who can't pay their bills due to losing a job or some other crisis. Here, it's just a matter of them accepting that I've paid the company they are trying to collect for. I received the certified letter confirmation yesterday. I hope it works. Thank you! :)

I did pay the proper people. This company is still harassing me, regardless of that. So obviously, this is still an issue with this particular company.

ERS is a debt collector. From what I see online, they have a lot of complaints against them. A debt collector must, by law, send you a letter 5 days after initial contact. Any legitimate debt collector would send you a letter, as the initial contact since they can not reach you by phone. Do don't indicate that they call you at home too. If they aren't calling you at home, I would be suspicious as to how they got your work number. Personally, since they don't seem to have any other information about you except your work number, I'd fax them a letter from a kinko's near your work (do not include ANY personal information, including your name, address, etc.). I'd simply state that they need to stop calling phone number (include the number), as it is a business phone. Do not sign it, or put your name on it at all. Keep a copy of the fax. (You can find their fax number online).

ERS COLLECTION

I received a missed call so I returned the call and the E R S person answered. As I gave her my information she said that I was not in her system. I received a letter a couple days later saying I am in collections with SPRINT and I owe them 851.55 So I called SPRINT right away and it ended up being 370.00 and she stated that a collection company bought my account for 373.00 after there fees and the amount they bought the account for I owe double. well I called E R S back and explained it all to her 30 minutes later they found my account? after speaking to the very rude lady/guy she said that I could set up a payment arrangement for 01/13/2011 and I could settle for 50% less so I did seeing how I just paid all of my debt off I want to do the right thing, by setting this up she stated that I would not go to collections and as of the 13th they would take this out of my bank account and report this to the credit agency's as paid in full. long story short after all that I looked at my monthly report and I now have 2 other collection companies for the same SPRINT collection. HOW DOES THAT HAPPEN WHEN I SET THE ARRANGEMENT UP WITH THEM FOR THE 13TH AND THEY SAID THIS WOULD NOT HAPPEN! THEY NEED TO BE REPORTED!

ERS are straight forward rude ### representatives. Got a phone call for my husband bill and this lady straight up and told me, she was like, i see that your husband has this bill from U of U hospital on these dates with no amount and demanded me to pay it off right now. I was like I know how the Utah law if spouses are responsible for the bills as well but first of all lady, you are freaken rude, second, you didn't even tell me how much is the bill, third you suppose to ask me if they are my husband bills because all his medical bills supposed to be paid by the workders comp. She shut her mouth for a couple of seconds and then she jumped back without giving me anytime to talk, i requested to speak with her supervisor and she refused. I told her, i hope you are not stoked with debts as well but please put yourself to the poor people that are trying to support their families and pay their bills especially these medical bills are outrageous.

Chances are that ERS did not purchase the account, but they are a 3rd party collection agency hired to collect on it. I would assume the person you spoke with at sprint was mis informed and in turn mis informed you. When a collection agency is 3rd party they are hired by the orginal creditor to collect on the bill but do not own it. This means they have a limited amount of time to recieve the payment before the creditor moves it to a different agency. The other possibility is ERS was the 3rd agency to recieve the account and the other two were the prior agencys. In any case once you have paid the account you can contact the 3 credit bureaus and update your information by providing a paid in full reciept. This will remove the two agencys that no longer have the account. If for some reason you arent able to get them removed immediately you can contact the agencys ask for proof of debt and then send them your reciept.

ERS Student loan

I have been in contact with ERS regarding a student loan that I know I owe. I havent received a bill or a statement balance SINCE ive been in communications with them (4 mons) and Ive sent in a $50 payment, which they claim they never received! I asked for a payoff balance over a month ago and the rep called me back after weeks and tells me I have one more day to pay at a balance or the "administrative fees" will go up . The original balance I owe for my loan is 1669.95, and they are asking for WAYYY more than that. They insist they send me a statement every month and I havent received a single one! I also sent in a payment by money order, and they INSIST they never recieved it! they are consistently lying! and If anyone has any suggestions on how to deal with this particular collection agency, please do tell!

This company tried to keep me from consolidating with the Direct Loan people (it seemed like they had vested interest in me keeping my loans with ERS and going through the rehabilitation program). When I insisted that they give me the necessary information to fill out the consolidation form, we were disconnected. I tried to call back on several attempts, but as soon as I began asking too many questions about consolidation, we were "cut off." I was disconnected 4 times and sent to voice mail boxes to leave messages that were never returned. They told me that I would owe more if I consolidated. I did it anyway, and discovered that the consolidated amount was far less than what I was being quoted. Furthermore, they told me that they would call me back with information on several occasions, and never did. I was really amazed by how unprofessional this company was. If you can consolidate your loan with the Direct Loan Consolidation program and remove your business from these people, I would highly recommend it. Then stay current with the consolidation people, so you don't have to deal with ERS again!

I also have not received any statement since I sent a student loan rehab payment of $450. I told them that I needed it in writing first, they said they couldn't. They are violating the Fair Debt Collection Act and telling me that I need to make huge payments...about 2 weeks pay for 9 mos to rehab. I just found out that there is no required minimum payment for rehab. These collectors are lying, because the more money they collect, the larger their commission.

Hello, I can't say I have had any problems with this company. I called them to make arrangements since I got tired of them taking my income tax returns. So I called and Adrian Perez is the one that helped me out not rude at all, he told me to send 50.00$ a month for 6 months and then I could file my taxes, and not owe them anything. Well I did the payment plan I did 5 of them, till I just got tired and said screw it and did my income tax and it got paid off and I even got some money back not a lot but worth it. I'm sorry you all have had bad experiences with this company. I'm speaking for myself I have not dealt with any rudeness, but I guess if they start talking bad to people, well people will naturally get upset as well. I never did get any receipt from them or a letter saying that my payment was received so who knows I will be in contact with the department of education to see about it. If you all are having issues contact them and speak with Adrian Perez he is nice and he is the one that worked with me

ERS was also very rude to me! When I first fell into default I had to deal with everything you did. I love how they tell you "You have to pay this amount..." instead of allowing you to start off with something even if it is $10 its an attempt. When this first started and they told me they wouldnt take anything less than $330 I just laughed, if I had an xtra $330 a month at that point I would have been paying my bills!

I would like to say i experienced the samething with them i even asked them could i pay anything because i havent worked in 2yrs that i was looking for employment, the representative told me that he verified my employment and that i was employed that he was going to garnish my check. I responded to the male rep that if they give them some money then send me the difference because i hadnt worked there in years so there was no way they verified employment. Then the rep starts saying arent you tired of being in debt that i need to pay my bills. He also asked who do i stay with i said a family member he said they let you stay there and not give them any money and i replied again im unemployed and i recieve foodstamps that if he wants i would give them to him. He then ask was i going to file my taxes i said again i have not worked since 2010 he then said i was worthless. I said to him that i hard someone say that they entered into a 10.00 dollar monthly payment for there defaulted student loan will i be able to send that? The male rep says no that he needs 236.00 and if i cant send that dont send anything. I want to know why this company is still open after all the complaints and there unwilliingness to work with people during these economic times?

I am not placing blame on anyone other than myself for allowing my loans to fall into Federal Default. This was 100% my fault. However I am in a much better financial situation and entered into a rehabilitation plan. As of Sept 2011 if I made 9 consecutive payments at $254 a month I would not longer be in Federal Default, all of the bad credit reporting would be erased and they would deduct $5000 in late/collection fees. It seemed like a great second chance. In September after my last payment I called to confirm that I had completed program and to ask what the next steps would be. I was told that the Dept of Ed would contact me to set up payments in December. I must have asked 3 times if they were positive I would not have a payment in November. I was reassured I would not.

To My Shock I received a letter in the mail today saying that the Federal Government was not able to update my default status, I WOULD HAVE TO make a November payment or they would consider November a missed payment putting me back into default! I took that $254 and paid down a balance on another bill already! I am outraged. It took me over 30 minutes of arguing with them. I was able to lower my payment by $100.

I am not stopping here. I am going to contact every agency I can about this. I held up my end of the deal they did not!

I spoke with the original debt holder, and was informed that my taxes would off--set this amount. When I got the letter, I called and was informed that my file had been transferred to ERS. The man at ERS was rude to me, and hung up on me. These people are very unprofessional, and I know my rights. I worked with someone to resolve my debt, and no one should have the phone hung up on them when trying to conduct business.

you owe a student loan to the us department of education. they can garnish your wages, take your taxes, garnish your ssi or ssd check or litigate against you through the department of justice. and you think sending $50 a month via money order is gonna help? first of all the money you sent was to the national payment center for us dept of ed. not ers, so its ED you should be complaining about. and thats why they tell you to set up payments through credit card, debit card, prepaid card or check. as far as the balance going up, what planet do you live on? you owe interest and fees that will grow as long as your in default. Stop trying to dictate terms, this isnt a credit card- you owe the federal government.

ERS Couldn't even say yes this is him

My experience with ERS has to do with a college dept. I couldn't make a payment on it and talked to the accounts manager at the college about how I had to pay for my clutch to be rebuilt. I offered to take in the receipt for the work done from the mechanic shop and she said no need to because I called and spoke with her instead of just skipping it. I also offered to make a double payment the following month because I was recieving enough work to do so. She said that would be great.

Well, 7 days later I get a very rude phone call from an ERS rep and he was supposedly the head of the College Loans department of ERS Collections. He flat out told me if I don't pay off my bill to them (ERS) by that day that my $375.71 left on my bill would become a total of $1500.00 and that they would put a judgment on me to be able to take it out of my paychecks. He didn't even give me a chance to answer that yes this is Russell.

I told him to go ahead and try it that I am self employed (the truth) and un licensed because in my state, I don't have to be if I make under a certain amount in one quarter; Yes, I pay my taxes. Then he got even more belligerent with me when I asked him for a certified mailed copy of there harassment policies. By Federal Law they have to provide you with a certified copy if asked. If they do not provide one then you can counter sue. Well, he hung up on me and then called me back and told me if I wanted a certified copy then I would have to pay off my bill and hung up on me again.

After googling ERS Collections, I went to there website and the head of that department isn't even a male. It is a female. So, I am thinking about calling back and asking her for a certified copy of there policies regarding people who owe and asking her why I haven't even received a letter from them letting me know that my account has been referred to them. Yes, no letter just a phone call out of the blue.

I though ERS was a law firm not a collection agency is what i was told by the "case manager" that called trying to collect money on a defaulted payday account. He made is clear that they were not a collection agency but a Law Firm. So i asked him what ERS stood for and he said it doesn't stand for anything that's just the name, he said. I think it's total crap. first a guy call from location services saying i needed to call his dept. at this number and he told me it was CFS, but when i call the number he gave and asked what "law firm" he was with, he said ERS. How strange, did they convert their business from collection agency to law firm. Wow that's amazing! Don't fall for it.

"Icee" is the agent that calls me, originally very kind and considerate, I set up this "payment" plan with them and all went ok, but I never received a payment verification or the total amount due. I stopped paying, and "Icee" called me back, I told her I wanted confirmation of payment, she said she would send it out, I received a "pay total now bill" 5000$ more than original loan "fees" it was labeled. She just called again today, I told her I will not pay until I see payment received and a break down of where my money is going, she proceeded to talk over me something about we need to receive payment today or blah blah blah. I do not believe this is a legit company, I have looked up the sight on the web and it seems very vague. Ive called my original student loan provider and they have written off my loan but did not send it to a collection agency.

Same thing. My university made a mistake in forgiving a loan and ERS got it as a collection. I was told I wasn't entitled to a validation or verification letter since they already mailed me a letter (which apparently got "lost in the mail" aka didn't receive) and that I had 2 days to make a decision about what to do about this since they "already knew where I worked." (took it as a threat of wage garnishment as was implied). Very rude. University meanwhile in the process of rectifying their error. Crazy.

I called ERS after learning my student account had been sent to them two weeks prior for collection. I paid the total amount on the spot over the phone and was told it would post within a couple of days. After a month, an amount for less than my original balance (without fees) was posted to the account, still leaving me a balance. I called ERS to ask why this is and they told me to contact the college as my account showed a zero balance with them. A couple of weeks after that I received a call from ERS to tell me there had been a "glitch" in the system and that I owed a random amount (not accurate.) I asked for an explanation and they could not give me one. I asked how much their fees were and was told repeatedly that "the system was not showing that." I could get no more information and became aware of the fact that it seemed unlikely the caller was even seated at a computer. She put me on hold for six minutes and returned repeating the amount I owed, clearly reading from a script of limited phrases. I asked if she could send me a statement and was told "No." I'm pretty sure I am legally entitled to have their fees that I have already paid, disclosed to me and some sort of statement showing the payment I have made. They are alarmingly unprofessional and breaking the rules of how they can operate. I plan on disputing this whole issue and calling them to task where they are breaking the law.

Some totally rude, unprofessional person called me today at 9:30 am from this company. They called my cell phone asking for my husband. Would not tell me what kind of company this was or why they were calling. He wanted my husbands social security number or else he would not tell me anything. Meanwhile, I told him I would not give out my husbands SS#. Way too much fraud going on and if he could not tell me why he was calling I would not give him any information...now keep in mind we both have excellent credit, no late payments in the past 13 years, no school loans. I let this guy know my husband worked last night did not get home until 4 am and I would not wake him up until 2 pm today. This rude a**hole told me he had 1 and a half hours to call him back or he would pass some judgement on us...Meanwhile I have no clue what he is talking about. I looked up the company, called and spoke to a very nice gentleman who was the receptionist. He gave me a supervisors number. I have called her 5 times and she never answers. I left a detailed message asking her to call me back and explaining that we have no clue what they want.

These people need to be put out of business. They are rude, unprofessional, threatening thugs who won't even allow you to speak. I think they have us mixed up with someone else who has the same name and yet I was treated like some type of criminal. We have never received any letters or other phone calls from a bill collector because we don't owe anyone anything.
