India Post / Department Of Posts review: Parcel not delivered 166

I have been following up all the issues in this thread of the Forum as I too have a pending delivery of parcel at Mumbai Customs since Aug-end. Though not faced with an issue yet other than the formidable delay considering the speed with which the Indian Government office work in, I have made sure to get a solution or some kind of step-ahead for all out there with this problem.
No use blaming till we have tried our best, right! Well, here what progress I have got till now..

Call: [protected], [protected] get 'B-Y' Number by giving your Tracking number from ARCHANA or any other person there.
Call: [protected] once you get the 'B-Y' Number, ANSAR will give a serial number or atleast woul notify of the status of your parcel if it has been examined or not yet! Incase, there is any hint of any "SIDEY' dealings expected, act ignorant!

Now will update next week as to the status of my progress!
Till then - Make a change!

a horrible experince once again to begin with i am anceint indian coins collector i had order one udaipur coin from ausralia which was despacthed on 5th August it never reached me on 25th august i really got worried and called the seller he said he had despatched to this i said how come it did not reach me
when he send it by registered post? then i thought maybe its lying with Ballrd pier forigen post and called them on 27aug yes i was right after repeated calls they confessed that they had my coins prior to this the coins was lying with
them for more then 2 week's but they send no letter intimating they have my coin in thier posession.honestly i fell this is an attempt to rob you in a systematic way after months pass and there are no claims then they might be putting this
in thier pockets or carrying it in thier homes this malpractice is being carried out since years because no one has made any complaint whatsoever against them.On 4 previous ocassions they have detained my coin but late released it after i payed the duty but this time one Ms naik was checking the books and said we have to do some
dicussion regarding your coin i said why do u need to do that? when on past 4 ocassions your office has released the coin taking the duty now why? to this she had no answer and kept on looking at books why do they employee such officials with lack of knowledge? when Lakhs of able youth are unemployed in our country? further more
she said all you youth are lazy and Useless(Nalayak) want everything fast all of you should be whipped(CHAPKYA NE FODLE PAHEZE) and all youth means i am also included that was it enough my pride was hurt this is not the

Indian Postal Dept is the worst - full of thieves and lazy people. Never send any items by parcel or speed post. It will never reach the intended destination. On many occasions, I have been sent gift articles by my friends living overseas, and while the package always reaches Indian shores within a day or two, it takes months for the same to reach me - if at all it does come. Invariably, the articles sent are either stolen or are delivered in a broken or mutilated condition. Most of the times, the entire package goes missing, and on many occasions, I have only received the covering letter or greeting card, in a torn envelope. I am embarrassed to say - I have had to tell all my friends abroad not to send any items by post - as they never reach me. My own countrymen have put me to shame.

I have ordered some prodcuts from China which was suppose to reach me in 5 buisness days.
Now the EMS post is showing that it has handed over to Delhi Customs on 2nd june and today is 5th june and its still in Customs and no tracking can be done. No contact number is available and no information is given. I have no idea what to do and where to contact.
It is important package and i am helpless.
Can anyone help me and tell me what to do next.

i am a resident of mumbai and had faced the same problem that u guys faced while trying to track my parcel. i will try and help with what little info i can.

Firstly the parcels that arrive via ems are routed to the india post office near the entrance to airport where they are dumped till custom clearence. The india post office is very close to the taxi parking area of the airport and can be found by asking around. Do keep in mind that the parcels that arrive here are cleared by customs only after a period of a week or more. Hypotheically if u get ur parcel on the 1st of the month it will only come up for custom clearance on the 7th of the month or even later due to the bureaucratic inefficieny and lethargy of majority of the staff working there.

Secondly its ironic there is a lone lady who handles all calls relating to enquiries about parcels and her phone is engaged most of the time so keep trying till u get a ring, and once u do get through, give her ur tracking number and chances are she will direct you to a guy called MR Pandey who is responsible for clearing the parcels .She will give you his number. She is overworked although she does her best to help you, and do keep trying her number even though u dont get through the first time.phone number to be dialled (Mumbai [protected] ) its the call center number given in the india post website.

Thirdly MR pandey never picks up the phone unless hez in a really good mood and after calling him incessantly he did pick up by sheer luck for long enough to ask me to come personally to the india post office to clear it quicker. The logic supposedly is that if u go personally the parcel is likely to get cleared quicker and one cannot deny the fact that if u grease the palms of the guys there u will get it done in a jiffy as is done by the clearance agents.

So in case you go and meet MR pandey personally he will ask u for your ems tracking number and tell you to come on a specified day for custom clearance. The parcels are usually dumped within the vicinity of the india post office.
if u are collecting the parcel on behalf of someone do take 2 xerox copies of the authorised letter given by the peron on whose behalf you are collecting the parcel, and do take along your own photo identification.

THe custom duty charged depends on the discretion of the custom official who inspect the good and its always better to haggle with with them like you would do in a fish market to reduce the duty.

So if ure a mumbaikar do take the trouble to go to the india post office near the airport personally.
it saves u a of torment. trying to get info over the phone is practically impossible due to the apathy of the people of indiapost and u feel like u are groping ur way through the dark. if u do go personally give the receptionist your tracking number and she will direct you to MR pandey.
i will try and post more info in case i missed out on any and hope i have been of some help.

I have booked an article to send to INDIA -RAIPIUR from US on 26th APRIL, as per the USPS status it got dispatched on 28th from US and reached india at11th APRIL, it was cleared by customes on 13th APRIL but till now the consignments has not been delivered to my address its been 18th APRIL, I thought, i could rely on SPEED POST, and there words - "WE DELIVER EXCELLENCE" but i think SPeed post failed to maintain the service what it stands for. The documnet is so important, and last date of sumbission of the docs in india is 18th, but I think we will be fail to submit . I spend extra money so that my parcel will be picked by speed post and not by ordinary post but it seems normal post in other country is much faster then SPEED POST .I put lot of complaints -complain number [protected] and send lot of emails but neither of them update me about the status .

I have parceled my luggage from Japan(Kawasaki) on 23 Jan-2009 via SAL(CC339724003JP) and was expecting the delivery in Feb end but till now no clues.. Its almost 2 months.

The tracking number given to me was EE734937245AU. When ever i check my status, it is always said that my parcel is awaiting clearance from custom department . The online page also shows that my consignment has reached mumbai EMS international processing centre on 20 th dec.But I have no clue why customs department is holding my parcel for a such long time without any further information being given to my parents, who have been eagerly waiting for my first gift... its a real pain for people like me who have struggled somuch to gift their parents on christmas eve...i wish the higher authorities to do the needful please...i shall be evergreatful to you sir...SOMEONE PLZ CHECK THIS AND HELP ME OUT...

I've been sending packages through speedpost for a long time now...and I was satisfied for their timely deliveries...not until i sent some gifts to hyderabad india by speedpost the first time that i sent a package was so fast it took only 2days but the rest was unsatisfied the last time it took a month to reach the reciever and some of the items was missing...and now my christmas gift that i sent last dec.10-08 is still not reach its distination it said it was pending in mumbai customs i don't really understand what kind of customs or speed post they have in india, i choose speed post so that my gift could reach them for just 3days?yet i guess nothing really gonna happen i paid huge amount of money for it yet it didn't meet up my need as a customer...i have nothing against abt our speed post office here i am satisfied for their services...only in india can any one help me abt this?your help is really important to me thanks...this is the certificate number EE797685027HK thanks alot...
