We're pretty sure that if Emirates showed up wayyyy more often on ComplaintsBoard and paid more attention to reviews and complaints, it would lead to better results. But for now, the resolution rate doesn't show successful interaction with customers. We advise reviewers to be careful when communicating with Emirates and be ready for the chance your problem might not get a response. It's also good to start looking for other solutions if your issues aren't fixed as you want.

Emirates undignified staff

I checked my friend's profile and I found out one shameful account of one of the ground staff of emirates airlines. She is making fun of islam, posting her photos in emirates airlines uniform while on the other hand posting her photos wearing hijab (Which us muslimas are using) while half of her body is almost naked. This is a very big insult to islam.. Emirates airlines should teach their staff to respect other's religion. Those staffs are lifting the dignity of the company. Emirates airlines should do the necessary action for this matter. I am a muslim and I can't stand looking at those people disgracing islam..

I think I know that woman, the one with hijab posing in disrespectful way. Her name is ELEANOR REYMUNDO DELA CRUZ, also known as ELLA DELA CRUZ.. I also heard that she had an ABORTION here in Dubai in order to stay here, she had an affair twice with 2 different married man.

There's no difference with "muslimah" who is married in Philippines and she's in dubai now having a relation with another man. Is this a real muslimah also and accepted by police?

I guess the UNDIGNIFIED one's are those Muslim lady who is already married back home not even divorce or annulled and yet still having an EXTRA MARITAL AFFAIR. Besides those ladies doesn't show disrespect while they were wearing the uniform. Photos has been collected only by one person whom I think has something personal with one of the ladies.

Emirates money stolen from carry-on luggage

I flew to jfk (Business class) on 9 april 2012 and to cape town (Economy class) on 14 aug 2012, both via dubai. After the 1st trip I discovered that us$300 (6 x us$50 notes) and the second time (2 x us$50 + 2 x eur50) was missing. I only discovered this when I arrived at my hotel / home. I fly often, never had any hassles on emirates or any other airline and the 1st time it happened I was unsure as to what just went down. I just assumed that I lost the money. But after the second incident I am now convinced that the money was taken out of my carry-on luggage while I was sleeping. I am loathe to accuse the cabin attendants but the modus operandi is just to similar. Only a few of the notes were removed - so as to no raise the alarm that my belonging were tampered with. I just flipped open my wallet to make sure that the notes were still there - not counting it to make certain that everything is intact. Furthermore, to make sure that I am not aware of anything wrong, none of my 'traceable' large items like i-pad, i-pod or camera was touched. I logged a complaint with the airline but am not holding out much hope as money cannot be traced. I am very upset but have learned a valuable lesson. I will never trust the anybody on board any aircraft. That goes for the cabin attendants as well as as any other passengers

Emirates lost baggage

Hi emirates.. What kind of csr do you have in dubai? I sent them a message last july 27, 2012 and I only got a response to them last day aug 14, 2012. I have a lost baggage and it is not my fault since you do not have a good security that every check in baggage should be returned to client upon arrival in the country of destination. You are offering me 26usd per kilo so this will be a total of 260usd for the 10 kilos. Where it is not enough for the things that I have inside the bag. Even to buy a techno marine watch it will not do. I want to have my bag to be returned. I will not get your 26usd settlement per kilo. I am asking for your csr from dubai to call me but no one is calling me. Are you sure that you are reading all the emails from your mailbox? Do you have sla from the queries that you received in a daily basis? Why your company is very unfair when it comes to settlement? I am not asking any amount but since you declared that it is already lost then you have to pay me in a fair way.. I am flying this 25th again and I need to fix this asap. Does this complaint board really read by someone from your dept? I want to have a call from you today +[protected] that is my mobile number.. And this time I do not want to hear sorry since this is the 37th day when I arrived in the philippines. You can not even pay me for the 2hours that I am waiting in the airport for my bag. I am tired that time and still need to wait for my bag where I will find that it was lost. This is very sad.. I thought that emirates is the leading airline..

Emirates transit flight

Dear sir/mm,

I am extremely frustrated with the emirates air service. Today I got on my plane flight # ek 816 from riyadh to dubai and we departed at 4:20 am and I arrived at dubai at 6:55 am. My connecting flight to amsterdam departs at 8:25 am flight ek 147 which shows that I have 1 hour and a half to get to my connecting flight. However, emirates air held us in the plane for over 40 minutes and when we got to the terminal one of emirates air staff said that we will not be able to make the flight and so they had to reschedule my flight to the next day! I am truly upset because I had paid for hotel reservations (Which is non-refundable) in amsterdam. I would like emirates air to compensate me for the hotel charge for my first night in amsterdam. I am upset with emirates air to the point that I want to close my expedia account and I will never fly emirates air again. I have never been more irritated in my life. I would also like you to notify the itc hotel in amsterdam that I will not make it on the first night but I will be there the next day. The total charge for the entire package which includes air plane tickets as well as accomodation for 9 nights is usd 2, 361.71 you may want to contact expedia because the package was through them. My expedia itenerary number is [protected]. Please do something about my hotel payment because I paid this money and it is non-refundable.

Regards,

Khalid alkalali

Booked online, Houston direct Dubai in economy class about $1400. Then went online to upgrade to Business class. Cost of increase was About $7000 for my wife and I. The booking was completed and I printed the reciept. I then recieved and email indicating that the booking had not been completed and instructing me to contact customer service. I called and was told that the online booking was a misquote and the upgrade would cost about $17, 000! I flew economy to Dubai, but we were in the last seats fore of the bulkhead, the seats were limited in recline and there was a terrible smell from the restrooms directly behind us. After 15 hours we got off and my back and knee were severely painful. I could not tolerate the thought of returning via economy. I went on line and asked for an upgrade. I was quoted about $7000 for my wife and I which included a $800 change fee. I went ahead and paid the fee. I then recieved confirmation of the "upgrade" but I was still in economy class and in fact was reassigned to seats even less desirable than I already had. I called Emirates and was told that my "upgrade" was from a "supersaver" economy seat to a "full-fare" economy seat. I spent several hours on the phone. I requested to speak to a supervisor and was told that I would recieve a call back. I did not. I requested a refund online and did recieve a partial credit, but was told the change fee was not refundable. Again, I could not tolerate a long flight in such tight seats. I returned to Houston on United Bussiness class. I forfitted the $1400 fare and the $800 "change fee" and I would not fly Emirates if it were the only existant airline!

Emirates bad service by the call centre and flight attends

Dear emirates airlines,
I can't believe you think it's acceptably to treat your customer the way you do with the amount you charge. I paid nearly £1000 for a flight from London to shanghai return. I was not given any food on the flight Unless I asked for it. I was missed every time by your flight attends who when I later asked for tea rolled his eyes at me. How disgusting to be treated like a was being an annoyance. Because of work I needed to change my flight to an earlier flight. I was told there was seats available from the shanghai flight and I offered to go to Beijing to take the available flight but they couldn't do that because your system does not allow that. How ridiculous! What kind of system does not allow for customer to change of there seats available on another flight at a different airport. I will never book with you again. Your service is disgraceful.

Emirates items stolen from checked luggage

My mother travels regularly from middle east to US and has used many airlines including Lufthansa, Aliatalia, KLM, etc. over the course of more than twenty years. Lately she had been using Emirates because of the its better lay-over timing convenience. So far she has used them for two round trips and she has had incidents on two occasions. One time the luggage was lost and finally delivered after a few days, happens I guess! This time around the same thing happened except when the luggage was delivered one of two family heirloom and relatively old artifact was missing from her luggage. Mind you over the course of twenty years this is the only time that has happened and only with Emirates it happened. We complained to the customer service who after several weeks said since they can not substantiate the claim they reject it. We mentioned her history of travel and lack of any claims in the past, they sent the complaints up to their NY office which has not even bothered to look into it. This is not a case of neglect, this is a cleat case of THEFT. and the lack of willingness by Emirates to do anything about it tells me that it happens more regularly than they care to admit. We will never again travel with Emirates and I suggest any inconvenience in using other airlines is worth the piece of mind you will have knowing there is a reputable company behind the product. If they steal from you and do not address it, how could you trust any claims as to reliability, etc. of their operation?

Dear ms. Nesreen alqam:

Baggage claim reference: ahl ammek 34178 / 22 may 2012
We regret your dissatisfaction with our previous correspondence.

With that said you only have 1 baggage claim, ahl ammek34178, and we have offered you the maximum amount for this one baggage claim as set by international regulations. Therefore we cannot revise this offer.

Please note while you may have checked in multiple bags and claiming multiple bags as part of that baggage claim, ahl ammek34178, it still remains only a single baggage claim.

For other people to have a claim they would have had to fill out separate property irregularity reports at amman airport, each advising which specific baggage was theirs and filling out corresponding claim documents on arrival at the airport. Our records do not corroborate that four people filled out claims. Instead records provided by amman airport show you as filing out claim paperwork for these bags. Please note that one person cannot file baggage claims for passengers other than themselves.

Therefore this is our final offer.

Please sign and return the claim settlement form (Csf) , with a photo copy of your passport photo page and postal mailing address, to my attention. We will forward payment in the amount of us$1712.33 within 15-20 business days of our receipt of the signed csf.

We do thank you for allowing us to comment regarding this matter.

Yours sincerely,

Salam,

Thx for replying my email! I don't think 1712 dollars is enough since I lost three bags! We booked 4 tickets so consider us as a 4 passenger therefore we should get the above amount for each missing bags! (u have to take into consideration that each passenger can get only two bags not three so the compensation is not fair at all) don't forget the expenses that we paid over there to buy cloths for me and the kids and gifts for the people we r visiting and not forget the stress and pressure we went through for missing the bags.

I hope u will understand the situation and get back to us with a satisfied offer.

Thank you

Dear ms. Nesreen alqam:
Baggage claim reference: ahl ammek 34178 / 22 may 2012
On behalf of emirates, once again please accept my sincerest apologies for any inconvenience you experienced due to the baggage irregularity that occurred when you traveled on emirates flight 903 on 22 may 2012.
In accordance with the airline industry regulations, baggage claims are settled on a per claim basis, taking into consideration the value of the declared items. The airline’s limit of liability is sdr1, 131.00 per passenger, for the damage or loss of documented, that is receipted, items. For those items, for which the passenger could not provide a receipt, emirates will refund one-half of the declared value. . At the time of your claim, 1sdr (Special drawing right) = usd1.514 for a potential maximum settlement of 1712.33 for documented items.
Emirates is pleased to offer you, therefore, without prejudice, the maximum total amount of us$1712.33, as full and final settlement of your baggage claim.
Please note we are offering you the maximum amount for a baggage claim as set by international regulations. Therefore we cannot revise this offer.
Attached you will find a claim settlement form (Csf). Please sign and return the csf, with a photo copy of your passport photo page and postal mailing address, to my attention. We will forward payment in the amount of us$1712.33 within 15-20 business days of our receipt of the signed csf.
We do thank you for your patronage in flying emirates, for your patience during this process, and for allowing us to comment regarding this matter.
Yours sincerely,

They lost my bag on a flight from Geneva to Dubai. I had talked to 5 different departments prior my flight, during it and post arrival to make sure my luggage will be transferred to my next flight in time. Every time I got reassured it will. I was flying domestically after my last destination with Emirates to attend a wedding the day after my arrival and I simply couldn't afford to lose my luggage.
GUESS WHAT? After double checking and triple checking & ... I arrived at my destination & My bag didn't!
They sent me the bag 3 days after when I had to buy clothes & shoes for the wedding and all they are offering me is $50!
and this was only after I kept contacting customer relations. 3 months has passes and I'm still awaiting a response to the email I had sent in Oct!

Emirates hand luggage destroyed

Recently I was travelling in emirates from dubai to india. As I had only one hand baggage I decided to buy 2 bottles of liquor from dubai duty free. When I was about to board the plane, one of the emirates airlines supervisor had asked me to hand over the hand baggage to be transferred to the cargo section. I have explained that the hand baggage contains bottles of spirit and the chances of it breaking are high. He said no problem, emirates takes responsibility for everything. However upon landing I got the hand baggage covered in a plastic bag as the bottles had broken before taking off from dubai. After landing in india I had gone to the complaint section but they had initially refused to register a complaint. However I insisted that it's not my fault and emirates must take responsibility for their actions. Eventually they registered a complaint in india and said they will forward the complaint to emirates office in dubai. I am still waiting to hear from emirates! Now a days the service of the emirates airline is just like any other cheap airline. If they continue this way, it's soon become like another crappy airline. Hope they look after their passengers well.

Emirates pet travel

Attempting to book my pet (with all the necessary certificates and permits) as excess baggage on my flight from DUBAI to Europe (Italy) I have been refused (7 days in advance from the date of travel) the options (presented on the website) and have been forwarded to the cargo section (excess Baggage would be 100 EUR, Manifest cargo around 700 EUR...)
No justification was given (even if insistently requested) and, when confronted with the website information, the Emirates representative was uncooperative.
He even refused to transfer to supervisor.
My vet repeated the process on my behalf and was told that Italian Custom Authorities are refusing pet import as excess cargo.
I have been traveling for 3 years with my cat between US and Europe and I never had a problem.
No confirmation of the import limitation was found on Italian Custom either.
Emirates is, probably, straight lying as is customary in the UAE when it comes to customer service.
Ticket cancelled, rebooked on Lufthansa and no problems have (sofar) occurred.

Emirates bad service at check in counter

The incident happened couple of hours before only... my wife and 2 kids(1 of 6 yrs and anther of 6 months) were at the emirates counter for check in for dubai kochi ek0530 of 0320am (booking ref KJSMYF). I was with them to assist to check in and see off (i was not travelling with them). The luggage was weighed and was about 71 kgs which was the allowed baggage. In addition there were 2 bags as well which was kept as hand baggage (almost 15kgs). As my wife had an infant to carry and the only 1 to assist her to the gate is my 6 yr old son, she asked the counter staff courteously (a lady, indian or pakistan origin) whether is there any option to put the hand baggages along with the luggage(such services are provided at other flight/airport counters ; we are travelling in flights for last 25 years) so she can comfortably walk with the baby till the gates (which is almost 15-20mnts distance away from the check in counters). The lady staff in the counter (she didnt even have time to show a courtesy to raise her busy serious face and reply) responded uttering the words 'no way'. My wife further repeated the question to clarify whether there is any option for that, if we pay any minimal fees. Still, with the same rude tone adding a wave of tease, the said staff responded 'yes, 55 AED per KG!'. Infact, the response never sounded a pleasing response, but was an intentional reply to insult the the passenger. This conversation, which i was listening all that time silently, outraged me. I told the staff that this is a clear way of teasing the passenger and this is not what we expect from emirates, instead you can tell us some option to get assisted or if no option you have better way to respond which should be carried out. i informed her that it was not first time am travelling in flight and in emirates as well, and i know the tariff of excess baggage which is not the actual reply should be to the so asked question. Me and the staff, had a couple of 'exchanges' where i felt she was never felt anywhere that this was not the way she would have responded. Instead she was trying to burn up the warmth with her offensive responses. When my wife asked her name to report to the supervisor, she first refused, then scratched on a tag card and threw at my wifes face which really made me go out of control and in return, i threw it back to her desk. It was all her attitude and response which made me, as a common passenger, speak and respond to her that way. Meantime, a supervisor came, and inquired about the situation and assured that he will speak to the said staff about the matter, and assisted us to guide us with some solutions which was helpful for us to get a comfortable reach to the gate. The main concern which i would like to highlight to Emirates management is, please ensure to remove or 'such rotten tomatoes from the baske't, otherwise the whole team will be accused for such unacceptable prideful, imperious behaviour.

Hi I've left my Cannon 60 D Camera on my Emirates flight 3 days ago from Dubai to Brisbane from where I caught a connecting flight to Auckland. I forgot it under my seat 20 B after a 14 hour flight. I was told I could not go back into the flight and that they will check with the staff on board, when we re-entered the plane I was told nothing was there, but my whole family was seated in my row and we know we put it there as I even put in my toothbrush from the Emirates flight into my camera bag pouch mid-flight.
I am truly distressed as we went for family trip and have many memories that won't come back, I plead with anybody who would be able to help and am happy to pay a reward or anything in return, we truly would like the memory sticks for the last photos of my grandparents and of our one and only trip like this.
My no is [protected] and email youknowsmint@hotmail.com

thank you very much

I had sent a complaint to the Emirates office in Dubai and they have not bothered to reply to the following letter I sent them on Fe 14. What kind of a service is this? Does anyone know how best to take action against these people? Read my mail to them:
To,
The Senior Vice President
Customer Affairs & Service Audit
Emirates Group
P.O. Box 686,
Dubai
United Arab Emirates
My name is Michael Papali, I am a Canadian Citizen, I was traveling to Kochi from New York, via Dubai on Jan 18 2013 to participate in a Tourism Expo (that I was covering) held in Kochi & Calicut. When I boarded from NY they told me that I had to get my onward boarding pass from DBX to Kochi from Dubai Transfer Desk.

When I arrived at Dubai airport on Jan 19, 2013 at 20:30 hrs, I only had 1 hr and 25 mins to transfer as my departing flight from Duabi was at 21:55 hrs. I immediately went to the closest Transfer counter and waited in Queue to get my boarding pass. When I reached the wicket they told me that the gates were closed and that they cannot issue me the boarding pass. They asked me to pay 400 $ and take the next flight out which was next day. I had to wait in the airport for over 24 hrs to catch my next flight and I was not even provided complimentary accommodation or food. All this is because you did not have a proper arrangement at the Transfer desk. The worst part of this was when I asked your counter staff as to whose fault it is that you only of 1 person servicing the 1 wicket, his response was that "you should not wait in Queue but barge in and get the boarding pass". This seems like very poor customer service for an organization of Emirates' calibre.

The Queue at this transfer desk (see picture attached) had over 200 people and only had 3 people servicing the 6 wickets of which only 1 was handling the boarding passes. i later learnt that my ticket from Dubai to Kochi was filled and yet you have charged me 400$.

My family, friends and I have flown Emirates before and this is not the caliber of service I was expecting of you and very disappointed with the whole experience.

The delay in boarding was no fault of mine, and I am being penalized for your delayed service. Hence please refund the 400$ plus 100$ so that I may be at least compensated for my financial loss though it doesn't cover all the physical and mental stress that I went through. I have attached copies of the E-Ticket Receipt.

My husband and I booked a flight to London online. We entered all our details including credit card deatils and at the end of the process were told to start the process again as there had been an error. We found out that they had debited our account for the ticket but we recieved no confirmation of this booking, nor was there any record of this booking ever being made on their side according to the call centre agents. After numerous calls to the call centre, no-one could help us untill eventually after 4 days we were told that they would release the funds back to us in the next 5 working days. We asked them if they could rather use those funds as payment for the booking if we did the booking again (but without paying again of course), but they would not do that. They said we would have to pay a second full amount, even though we have not received our initial funds back! No-one will allow me to speak to a supervisor / manager, and I sent an email to the customer affairs email address i was given but have had no response at all. We have no guarantee that we will receive our money back, we have no ticket and we have not so much as received an appology for this huge inconvenience.

My family and I have been using the services of Emirates flights for the past 10 years. Over the time I have noticed the quality of food have deteriorated. Some of my family members are vegetarians, their portions of meals are so meager that it would take 2 trays just to easy the hunger pangs for an adult. For the past 4 years the vegetarian menu has been slimy okra in dhal with hint of rice. Veg menus also consist of soya products but it seems vegetarians do not have a choice. I have on many occasions requested for special meals as my family do not eat this vegetable but my request is completely ignored by Emirates. Flights into India, does not mean that all Indians are from India and eat the same food. I have gone hungry on Emirates flights because it is not accommodating to customers service. If these menus continue to go unchanged, I would rather opt for another airline, than to go hungry on such long hours of flight.

Emirates ticket cancellation

10 june 2012

Managing director
Emirates airlines
Dubai uae - fax 00971-[protected]
Customer. [protected]@emirates.com

Dear sir,

Re. : fence eating away the fields

I would like to lodge a formal official complaint against emirates airlines. Please note that I had a confirmed booking for my son talha farooqui aged 15 years, with pnr grg4ss, ticket no. [protected], who travelled from hyderabad to riyadh via dubai on 19 april 2012, and was supposed to travel back from riyadh to hyderabad on ek 0818, 04 june 2012 with seat riyadh to dubai 10a and ek 0526 dubai to hyderabad 16a. The reservation was made thru mr. Khalid of al tayyar; also I received an e-mail (Attached for ready reference) for the confirmation of back journey on [protected]@yahoo.com on 03 june 2012.

When I approached the counter for check-in, I was surprised to know that the confirmed booking and the pre allocated seats have been cancelled. After requesting, the senior officers of emirates took special care and issued me boarding card for ek0818, riyadh to hyderabad 10a, and ek0526 dubai to hyderabad stand-by. Later they issued confirmed boarding card for dubai to hyderabad before departure of the flight with seat no. 34e, somewhere in the middle of the row for which my son was upset since he liked to take a window seat.

I report with great disappointment that, when a passenger gets a confirmation of the booking by e-mail under pnr and the seats are reserved for a passenger with reputed airlines like emirates and is cancelled without notice.

The media in saudi arabia, passenger’s parent and the travel agent need to know the hands behind the cancellation and causing great agony for the entire journey of the passenger especially when there is a stopover in the great city of dubai.

There was immense mental tension and agony for the parent at this end whilst 15 year old boarded the plane with such difficulty. I would expect emirates airlines to compensate the parent for this mental agony and tension.

Waiting for your reasonable answer.

Regards,

Mohammed fazalullah farooqui (F/o talha farooqui)

Emirates corruption at boarding pass counter

I've traveled with emirates on 3rd june 2012. I traveled first with any airline in my life. When I was returning to khi from dxb flight number ek 602 at boarding pass counter when I put my baggage to weight belt it was 7 kg excess so the lady at counter ask me to pay 50 aed for per kg excess i. E (350 aed) so I asked her that I will transfer some luggage to my hand carry. So returning back to counter when I gain put my baggage it still got 5 kg excess so the employee standing just behind ask me to come at a side and said its still 5 kg excess and you have to pay aed 250 for that just give me 150 aed they will waive off your 5 kg so I had no choice. So I hand over cash to him and he put that money in his pocket and ask person at the counter to accept his luggage. So they took advantage of my helplessness.

Emirates refund / compensations

Despite of so many reminders no action is been taken against my complaint. The below are the details of mu complaint which I made on [protected]@emirates.com.
My self jitendra gupta is a frequent business class traveller and gold card member of emirates airlines. My skywards gold card no. Is ek [protected]. Recently I was booked on 21st april to fly from entebe to mumbai. I was scheduled to fly from entebe to dubai by ek 730 & dubai to mumbai by ek 504. From mumbai I have to go to surat to attend one important function on 22nd april morning for which I have done my travel and accomodation arrangements in advance.

I reached entebe airport 4 hrs before departure on 21st april. I got my boarding pass for the flight ek730 and connecting flight ek504. I moved to business lounge till the boarding announcement will be made. After 2 hours I have heard the announcemet for cancellation of flight ek 730 which was later confirmed by the ground staff.

Later on I was made to travel from entebe to nairobi, nairobi to dubai and dubai to mumbai. I have to rush from pillar to post at each airport for tickets and availability.

Due to this last minute cancellation my all travel plans changed and I reached home on 23rd morning. I lost all my money in travel booking, accomodations & moreover a very important function. Later I have to make rearrangement of travel and accomodation. These all changes cost me fortunes. I have incurred a loss of 900-1000 gbp in these changes.

Being a loyal customer I have been travelling emirates business class past 1+ year. But now I have suffered a severe loss due to the cancellation of the flight by emirates.

I believe that emirates will keep their cordial relations with their business class travellers and arrange asap for the compensation of the losses incurred by myself.

My booking reservation number is 64d6ee

I can be contacted at +91-[protected].

Pls. Arrange for my compensation asap.
