I traveled from Thailand to Dubai on July 26th, on a holiday of a lifetime! As in I mean, I spent well, as a one off to 'splash out', savings used tec. Myself and my partner arrived in Dubai early am, to chaos when it came to luggage retrieval. Our flight from Bangkok was showing anywhere on any info boards in baggage reclaim. Being on an expensive holiday with Twohigs and considering the excellent service we received at Amsterdam, Bankok and Ciang Mai airports, I remembered coming to Dubai airport, a long, long walk, and someone with my name, telling me, my tour guide would meet me at arrivals , giving me a mad map of the airport!

Anyway, carusel kept going, buggies being discarded to one side, wheelchairs, suitcases? I thought MAD? This is not right, asked a female in an emirate uniform twice, still have her name in my head, was their a delay or a problem with luggage coming through, she told me it could take up to 6 hrs! Anyway, my partner, far more patient then me, ws now getting a little fed up, we had checked oot from our hotel in Chiang Mai 24 hrs earlier and really needed a freshen up, met another guy from Australia whose suitcase hadn't turned up either.

Went to BAGGAGE RELAIM EMIRATE OFFICE AT ARRIVAL! What a queue, what a system! No system at all! Eventually some very "FRIENDLY' female EMIRATE AIRLINE member of staff, asked my partner in front of my, to tell his lady friend to 'calm down! I was only asking how long more after 4 hrs waiting , I was in Dubai for 3 nights and I had paid well for the same, 1st night flying, didn't want 2nd at airport.

With agreeable, ny partner reluctantly put in claim for lost luggage with same emitare desk and we left to enjoy hol. Needless to say, the fab Jumeriah and no luggage, gud luck, the few days were ruins.

My mates suitcase was returned to the hotel later on the same day of our arrival, but despite re assurance from airline staff, hotel staff and emirate airline staff, I am now lost. My suitacse with all, souvenirs, memoirs, whatever from Thailand, my HOLIDAY of a lifetime is? Money will never replace it! I had personal insurance for the trip, they are waiting for a letter of confirmation from Emitare Airlines for a wk now, by email! in order to process my claim.

I will never be compensated for what i had in my suitcase but MAd that I have had to call Emirate Airline Baggage Service [protected]! I know he number off by heart, I have rang this number 18 times in the last wk! Still I have no letter for my insurance company! And my belongings and purchases, gifts, souvenirs are? Lost!

I Shahzad Israr, came to Islamabad on Emirates Airlines from Chicago to Houston and Houston to Dubai and finally from Dubai to Islamabad, I waited almost 2 hrs for my suitcase and finally this thing came to my knowledge that my suitcase is missing, it was not less than a shock for me, anyway i contacted to a person, standing there on behalf of Emirates, they just filled up one form and said that Don't worry we'll inform you later, now i am still waiting for good news .I doubt that on Islamabad airport someone has stolen my suitcase, because no body is there from Airline to check the luggage tags, so its very easy to take out anybody's luggage from the Arrival terminal, no body even bothers to check the luggage tags, its not a missing its a theft and Emirates is responsible for all this, very bitter experience, my Ref #ISBEK30774.

It is textile (not leather) and has a little orange loop to hang up it.
In a pocket with zipper on the front site of the jacket are a key and a little box with 3 SD memory cards.
The SD cards are important for me, they have all my pictures from three month in New Zealand and Australia.

Emirates sent me a letter stating that they cannot cover for any of my lost baggage which includes a brand new Laptop, Camcorder (Sony), jewellery, expensive books and CDs and some clothes. The airline requested me to check in my carry on luggage saying the flight was full. The bag arrived at my destination airport with no items in it. It was open and ripped and had no items in it. I was travelling from Newyork to Hyderabad on Aug 27th 2010. I am totally disappointed and need help. Please send me any queries your have to aysolag@gmail.com. I will never fly Emirates. My total loss is valued at more than 3000$ (US dollars)

I travelled on EK 766 from Johannesburg, South Africa to Karachi, Pakistan via Dubai on 1st of September, 2010. I'd one suitcase of about 33 kg which I checked in and one hand carry bag. when I arrived in Karachi and picked up my suitcase up from luggage belt, I was shocked immediately that it was very light in weight and next thing I saw the lock was missing so instead of seeing it inside I immediately asked a custom officer standing nearby what to do in such a case, he guided me to emirates counter and when we opened the suitcase, we found all the valuables 3 laptops and 7 brand new cell phones a digital camera and a medical watch were missing and torn empty boxes were laying inside among clothes. Worst came afterwards when seeing such evidence as brand new empty boxes and 19 kg weight of remaining bag, the airlines staff started investigating me as I was accused and guilty and not a victim. After 3 hours of up and down through their offices I finally got a file opened for my case and they gave me reference number to follow up in 15 days time (KHIEK25537/02SEP10/0938GMT) At the time of my arrival it was so shocking that I forgot to see that my Truworth sun glasses were also missing but anyway something which revolved in my later is that an Emirates staff, a man at online check-in counter who helped me that nightn when I handed my bag to be checked-in he took few of my documents in haste and told me that he's just going around the corner to make photocopies but when he returned after about 3 or 4 minutes, I don't remember holding any copies in his hand, he just handed me my stuFf back as he's already printed boarding cards for both of my flights. He also didn't inquire that my stuff weighed over limit, which I was hoping as I paid 325 Rands on my domestic Mango airline flight from Bloemfontein to Johannesburg few hours ago. Anyway I hope I'd hear from Emirates as soon as possible. And if anyone from Emirates pay any attention to this I'd like to request them to change my phone numbers in my file. The new number is +[protected] but more than anything else I want to be contacted via email: seraiki@gmail.com something else I want to mention, it seemed normal to staff if one is coming from Johannesburg.

hello everyone,

it is now April, yet i am still battling with Emirates Airlines for compensation. since they hey have finally classed our baggage as lOST AFTER so many months.

It was the first time we travelled Emirates Airlines...NEVER AGAIN...they have the worst customer service, no sympathy, difficult to get in touch with any senior member., it has been a long nightmare for us, ruined our childrens holiday by losing our baggage, because of there negligence.

I regret travelling with Emirates Airlines, i should have listened to my husband and travelled South African Airways.

I would advise that you email the airline concerned directly and complain. I would be surprised if you got anywhere by simply posting the information on this website. You have no guarantee that Emirates Airlines is monitoring this forum, and further, only a formal complaint can help.

be careful with emirates ground staff at shamshabad airport hyderabad, please check your baggage after landing immediately for your belongings inside as they are used to steal the valuables from the baggage . As I lost my wii game console and two digital still cameras.

i come to bangladesh on the 26th september 2009 and did not recieve my luggage, every important items were in that luggage that i need everyday, e.g. my clothes, deodrants, lotions, etc nd also expensive and designer items were inside the luggage. i am unhappy with emirates becuase they give me faulse hopes and say that it will come with the next flight. actually they are so confused themselves as they dont even know whether its lost or delayed. i am reallly angry and wish that i never come here with thier service. i am now having financial problem as i had to buy extra clothes, shampoos, soap, etc. however the costumer service is realy bad as they do not help at all! i am leaving back to my country on the 15th of novemeber 2009 and i am stressed because i dont have a luggage to take back and my things. i advice everyone not to use this service becuase emirates will lose all your belongings! i really hope i find my luggage and never look back at this service again!

To whom it may concern,

It is with great disappointment that I am uploading my complaint onto this website.

After having spent time with my family and friends after working away from home for a long time it was sad leaving home again. The best thing about coming back was that the on flight service was really good although it had it's ups and downs.

Anyway, my bags were booked straight through from Cape Town, South Africa to Melbourne. When I arrived in Melbourne after waiting at the carousel for about an hour I was contacted via the intercom requesting that I visit the baggage desk. I was then advised that either my surfboard or luggage bag was left behind in Dubai.

This was the last thing that I needed after flying for almost 24 hours. I was told to wait at the carousel till all bags came though and then if my luggage bag was not there to check at the oversized baggage section. To my surprise I found that my surfboard was there and the bag was ripped open and my brand new board was damaged badly.

I was told by the lady that "that is not our problem, we do not cover or are responsible for that". Then told me that I should give my details and they would drop bag at home.

My bag was dropped the next day and I was not home so my housemate signed for the bag. When I arrived home I found that the bag was ripped open at the bottom and my stuff was stolen. My 4 gold rings, 2 neck chains, bracelet, Hugo boss perfume, smarties lollies, gold earrings and puma sneakers was stolen and my bag zip damaged.

When I called the baggage desk to advise they told me that they will need all details of what was gone and will forward the report and it should take about a week to get a response. I waited a week and called back and to my surprise no-one knew anything about the matter being sent off. I was told by the lady that there is nothing they can do about the matter. After I explained what had happened she told me there is nothing she can do not even offering to look into the matter and call me back. I advised her to put me on to a manager and she said she will get one to call me back. To no surprise no-one called and I had to get onto it. The manager who I spoke to at first did not want to give her name and after I explained advised me to fill in the pilferage report and send it to them myself.

The items that were stolen was of great sentimental value to me as this given to me by my family and 2 who passed away.

This was the worst experience I had to go through not only did my things get stolen but the service was awful.

Well, guess what, I still await a call from the guy I spoke to who advised me that he will be calling me back Wednesday during the course of the day to give me an update.

This is the type of service I received and I hope that someone will actually do something about the matter.

Regards,

Randal

Everyone with bad experiences on Emirates is probably wondering why they do not have a complaint section on their website. That's because they are attempting to hide all the bad publicity they receive.

"Emirates, the world's favourite airline" "Emirates, the world's #1 airline" - who confers these titles? Are these being bought by the airline?

The Indian, Pakistani and Emirati staff at Dubai Airport are rude, ignorant and illiterate. I have worked in the Aviation industry and am well aware of the standards that airlines like UA and Singapore thrive to meet.

In the case of Emirates, there is only one goal, please the ethnic-Europeans with dignity and the rest can find their own way.
In fact, it doesn't matter to them if you are an American or Canadian with ethnic-South Asian heritage; as long as you are not fair skinned, you are not going very far with the EK and Dubai Airport staff.

My brother took a flight from India to Leeds of Emirates. His luggage is not delivered with the flight. They say that his lugguage is not even received London, as the flight was a connecting one. Now the buggers are claiming that its our fault to loose the luggage.

I ask, how can the ###ers give boarding pass without verifying the luggage? If he got the boarding pass that means, they have checked his luggage and now its their responsibility to take care of the luggage.

I prefer not to fly in Emirates from now. And I suggest others too

Emirates Airlines does it again, My family arrived in Dubai on the 27 May 2008, two bags were lost. To date (26July 2008) we have had no news on the lost bags. They will not call you and every time you call the lost baggage section you have to quote you claim number and relate the entire story to the person on the other side and if they transfer your call, you have to relate the story again absolutely frustrating . Worst of all when you call the lost baggage section the response is would you like to check on your lost baggage my response "NO I WOULD LIKE TO ORDER A NEW AIRBUS A380", why on earth would we call them besides checking on our lost bags. They have a very bad attitude toward the customers when it comes to the claims department, after giving them the description of our bags and the contents they have claimed that the bags were found only to be frustrated again when they delivered the wrong bags X2. It is impossible to get any of the senior staff on the line and when they do take your call it seems as if we are the ones that are at fault. The contents of our luggage were the most valuable cause we have relocated to Dubai from South Africa and Emirates are offering us less than a quarter of the value of the lost luggage, claiming that they are governed by the Montreal Convention which only allows them to pay USD1456 per claim not per bag. THIS AS GOT TO BE ONE OF THE WORST AIRLINES, THINK TWICE BEFORE YOU USE THEM.

I understand your frustation. It has been almost a year and I am still trying to get a response on my trip from NY-London-Dubai. The Jumeriah Hotel sent in a lost baggage response and I still do not have a response, after numerous attempts to contact them. I had to purchase everything for 2-3 days of waiting for the bags. I was there for business meetings, needed suits, evening wear, etc. They stole items from the bags when they were in transit. I am surprised at this airline and quite disappointed in the lack of response considering the reputation they have and the money spend to fly first class in quite expensive. This is certainly not the response you would expect.

I too flew Emirates Airlines over this last December vacation, returning January 2008. Worst experience we've had with any airline. Lost Luggage not found and missed connection due to their system going down. Had to deal with staff who were not prepared to deal with the situation that arose, due to the many delays. Staff were above all very rude and unsympythetic due to our frustrations. Any advise what to do with regards to lost bag. No response from customer affairs at all.
