Emerge card services

I received three phone calls from a man names "John" who stated that i have an open account that hasn't been paid since October 2011. I explained that i do not have any open accounts with this company and am unsure of where they got my work number from. John verified the last four digits of my social security number and stated that the call was an accident and they will take me off their list and hung up. I called the number back and a woman answered by just saying, "Card Services." I asked her what company they are affiliated with and she responded by saying that they are not at liberty to say. I then replied by saying that i take it this call was nothing but a spam call and i would appreciate it if they would remove my number from their database and to please refrain from calling my place of employment. she stated that she does apologize for the mix up and will remove my name.

Beware! This credit card company does not have anyone competent to make decisions. You will speak to someone in a far off land who cannot fully understand the English language and does not care about you or your account. You cannot ever reach a manager or someone with authority to over ride their terrible policies.

I had been a card holder for over 15 years. I made one payment less than 30 days late. It was for over $500. They took the payment, THEN told me that they were suspending my account to no longer be available for use. It is a recession and I am having to pick and choose who gets paid and who does not. I chose to pay them to keep my account current. They tricked me. Now the $500 I thought I'd have to use to pay bills or buy food went to nothing but lowering my inactive account.

I strongly suggest you cancel this card and move to a real company like American Express or Chase who will listen to you, who will use their brain to make decisions (a 15 year account should have some merit) and who will not suddenly screw you over!

Emerge never had this card being sued for money

never had this card collection agency says i did, started paying them when they said they were going to take me to jail. I had aprovidian and paid it off, providian never appeared on my credit report but emerge did, i never got an emerge bill, they said it was active for 7 years i had providian over 15 years ago. now they want to sue me. this is not fair, i have never got a piece of emerge mail, they even say they had someone come out and serve me but that never happened either. When i stopped paying for something that did not belong to me that's when things got nasty, now that i have a court date they are so lying in the paper work that they sent me

It sounds to me like you think Providian was in this mix. They have been sued andhad to pay money for this type of thing in the past. I was a complaintant in a class action law suit that they had to pay, once. They pulled things like this on my wife, too. They would also send me letters saying things like "congratulations, because you are such a good customer, we have added this service for you. Con't worry, we have raised your credit limit enough to cover it and we guarantee you can't get this service for less." Trouble is, you can get it for way less and when you try to contact their customer service line it is busy 24/7. They had to reimburse me and reinstate my credit rating. They reimbursed me but never reinstated my credit rating.

B.T.W. Any bill that is over 10 yrs. old is forgiven by law. You wouldn't have had to pay it if you just refused to. I don't know about now, since you have paid part of it, that may be an admission of the bill. Sounds like you ned a lawyer.
