BOGUS leads. elocal.com sends contractor 5 leads to get them to sign up for their service. The leads are bogus. Here is an example of one. It appeared the person needed garage door service only to find out after attempting to call and email, her reply was as follows: "I don't know where that request came fro m But it wasn't me. Please do not call again ."
Once they hook the contractor, to bad so sad buddy, they got your credit card. AVOID THEM

Please note that eLocalListing is NOT related in any way to eLocal.com

eLocalListings does some things right. I'm one of their competitors, so I'm not going to go light on them.

No one can promise a #1 organic ranking in any of the major search engines. Typically, if you follow the basic webmaster guidelines, you'll see yourself in google in 2 - 15 days. It's about the same for Yahoo!. MSN/Bing lately has been taking much longer - 30 - 60 days.

The reason no one can make iron clad promises - all the search engines are automated - we don't own them, there is no special back door. All a webmaster can do is code the right way, follow the guidelines, offer unique content and perform the required optimization. After that's said and done, it's out of our hands.

It doesn't mean that different optimization companies don't get different results. We all do. Some just take the time to do all the little things right - and that where you'll usually see a big difference in rankings.

Final thought - there are rip off companies out there. Just because there are bad companies, don't lose your trust in the industry as a whole. Be thorough, research the company prior to signing a contract, make sure they use white hat techniques, and make sure they have other clients with top rankings as proof.

I received a call from a Steve at eLocallisting.com on Nov 11, 2008, stating for $49.00 per month he could advertise my business (HomeBrew 2000 Computers)
in a 'top 5' listing on google and yahoo. I said what the heck, and we did the credit card transaction for $49.00 for a one month trial. I made sure to use one of those "No Credit credit cards' Green Dot... I did this so I wouldnt be rebilled.. well the 2 week time frame passed like they said, one of there "Provisioners" called me stating they have me in google and yahoo, but were having trouble with most of the keywords and to give them another week or so. When I checked google, I was no where to be found, went all the way to page 11. In yahoo I finally found my business listing on page 4. There Pitch to me was "We can get you 1st page top listings in yahoo and google for $49.00 per month".

well my month is comming up Dec. 11th 2008, so we will see. based on what I have seen so far, I dont believe it. and will probably not renew...

I dont necessarly believe their a scam, but I do believe they promise something that they can not deliver, for that matter I dont think anyone could deliver!
The ranking in google and yahoo and other search engines is based on randomization. and where elocal listings have no control of these search engines how can they possibly guarantee something they cant control...

I would not do business with these people again and would suggest anyone reading this before they do business with elocal listings, NOT TO!

Regards
Tory

RIPOFF, beware. ELOCALLISTINGS managed by sleazy people with a license to take your money. First watch what you say in a recorded interview. They will cut and paste and fix it according to what they want. They will not refund your money and above all the promise of atracting business to you within a month is a lie. They have nothing that will atract any people to the very flimsy site they create for you.

I signed up with them a couple of months ago and they did get me on yahoo ranked pretty high in about 2 weeks. I didn't get to google for about a month and a half but i was ranked in the third position so I have to say it is a good company. I liked that they added a little video to my listing, I didn't pay extra for it and I haven't seen anything like it so I was pleased.

I have been notified by elocal and they are supposed to be getting me a web site on yahoo and google but so far they haven't taken me for any money. If anyone has more info on these people I would like to hear it. Brad.
