Here's some shame on a company. I worked for ECM Transport in Cheswick Pa. On April 15, 2017 I found my 28 year old son unresponsive and gurgling. About an hour after that in the emergency room a doctor n nurse came out and told me those horrible words "I'm sorry, he didn't make it". I called Ecm's area manager Stella Davis. I told her what happened and told her I wouldn't be in until the following week. She never said she was sorry... nothing but ok. So, I make funeral arrangements, have the funeral. I called dispatch on that Friday and told them I still had things to do because I had to move all of his things out of his apartment ect. At 0700 that Monday Stella (the area manager) calls me with a major [censor] attitude "where are you why aren't you here?" I explained to her that I had to move all his belongings ect. She says to me with her nasty attitude "well most people only get 3 days and if your taking any more tune off your using your vacation" hmm ECM does not even have the decency to even pay the 3 day bereavement pay. I got zero. So exactly one week after my sons funeral the throw me back in a truck. I struggle to get through each day. NO ONE asked was I ok, was I ok to drive... Nothing. so emotionally I'm a wreck. Stella calls me being her usual ignorant self and I snap on her... so ok now I'm called in for a "meeting" with her. I'm crying explaining or her that when a mother finds her son unresponsive n gurgling on his bed, and I gave him CPR until paramedics came. Each time I gave him a chest compression blood came out the corner of his mouth... That really does something to a parent. I told her I need to go to therapy. She tells me ok she'll work with me. So I find a therapist, set up appointments. This is great. We'll about week 3 Stella tells me with her normal nasty ignorant attitude that if I want to keep going to therapy I'm going to have to get FMLA. Now ECM is a family run business for the most part. So I'm stunned. But, I go get the fmal. Ok now Stella is a royal [censor] even out doing herself. She makes sure I'm getting 14 hour days with the 1 16 hr day. (I'm a local driver) She pushs n pushs me knowing full well what I've been through and am still going through. Finally on March 8th I told ECM where they can go and what to do when they get there. They treat their drivers like pure [censor] and if my experience does not prove that I don't know what will. And yes I went over her head. I sent the owner Edward Meier multiple emalis... No response. I sent his daughter Shannon Meier countless emails, phone calls. They do absolutely nothing. Since the day I left, that in itself has taken so much stress off me. The entire point of this post is... if you want to be treated like a human being.. don't go to ECM Transport... because THIS is how they treat their drivers. God forbid you get injured in the job and collect workers comp. They fire you as soon as your well. I've known countless drivers they've fired because they got hurt. Drivers beware.
