Duke Energy power

We have experienced too many instances of power outages in the last several months, seemingly for no apparent reasons.
This is happening way too often, when there isn't even any bad weather to blame it on. I can understand if a storm knocks the power off, or maybe a accident where a car hits a power pole, but to lose power this many times in such, I'd like an explanation and to know something is being done to prevent this from happening in the future!

I have approximately 5 power outages a year. The outage is due to the same lines going down in the same, location every time. There is about a 100 yard stretch the lines go through some trees that are constantly falling. These trees are constantly being cut, or trimmed. Why dont you put the lines underground and end the problem instead of paying your employees overtime, to patch the line up again. I've been living in the same for 3 years and have had around 15 outages. No need in giving the location of my home...you obviously couldn't find it. I was the first to report an outage during Hurricane Florence and I'm still waiting...

Duke Energy meter installation

I have been waiting for duke energy to install a meter and cut my power on since Tuesday. I have been getting the run around every single day. I have a child and I am 9 months pregnant and can not move into my house because there is no power. I have been told one thing after another and I've called multiple times a day. Today I was told someone was in route to cut my power on and I have been outside waiting for 2 hours now and it is after 5:00. Duke energy has no concern for people's lives whatsoever and could care less if me and my child have somewhere to go or are sleeping out of a car. It is Friday and if someone does not come today, they say I have to wait until Monday ! If no one comes, I will take this complaint to the highest level!

Duke Energy electricity

This letter is in regards to Barbara Hydanus my name is Kimberly Valerio and I am the care taker with much concern for this woman's well being, I will be breif in that the relevance of this subject matter is nothing more than getting electricity to this woman's residence that is lacking now due to non payment, Miss Barbara went to Seattle to visit family, leaving home to be supervised by other family and the situation resulted in this disconnect, This woman at the age of 84 is dealing with heat degrees way above 100 and I'm afraid that this could result in a trip to the hospital due to heat stroke. I am aware this bill must be paid this household is responsible for it and thus it shall be my concern is they asked to make a partial payment and were denied by Duke Energy which I think is grounds to contact the utilities commissioner this woman cannot withstand these temperatures and must have her electricity back in able to have air conditioner unit running. So I hope that Duke Energy will take all the steps necessary to see this woman gets the accommodations that she desperately needs and make some sort of payment arrangement with these folks so that their electricity get turned back on ASAP thank you for your time, we will be looking forward to hearing from you.
The bill total was 1500 Duke was offered 750 and the remainder in 2weeks and thus offer was denied saying that no payment smaller than 1100 would be accepted VB making no sense because power had already been shutt and a800 deposit would be added,

Duke Energy extra fee on already high bill!!!

This company is a complete rip off to the average consumer! I go to pay my bill today and see there is a extra charge for a deposit of $355, that I knew nothing about, no notice in the mail or email to provide information, no nothing! My bill is high every month, and even though I pay it late, it always gets paid! Now you go and add an additional $355 and don't notify me of it? What kind of greedy bs is that? People are out here struggling while big companies take every drop they can from blue collar families! My bill this month with this extra charge is $817! What the f$k!? Then customer service tells me that they can break this amount up into 3 payments, ontop of my already extremely high bill. So now there's $117, added to my $195 bill, and that's for 1 month! I wish there was another option for consumers in this part of nc that we could have a choice. Duke progress energy sucks!

Duke Energy billing charges from previous billing

I am contacting about a previous bill from 2011. I called to stop service because I was moving out the house I stayed in stated to have service disconnected bc I was moving. Only been in the house 30 to 45 days. Stated it would be disconnected it was not disconnected per previous conversation till months later which is not right. I have been working with the collection department and once we get so far it gets transferred to another company. I called today to get more information on this issue but the representative Annette csr id 5313 which may not be true stated "it is what it is" when I stated to her was she serious about how she address the call she stated yes. She wasn't helpful at all more rude. I worked in customer service for over 30 yrs never once is that expectable. I'm asking questions to fix my issue to reestablish service with duke not be pissed which I should be from our conversation. She first stated it was an issue with PIP program that's why I Had a bill and that was the balance. The more we talk she then stated it wasn't turned off because the landlord didn't call to shut it off. Confused by the call I stated when does a landlord have to make a call to cancel service is the tenant is moving. She then states that if you Duke cant get a reading to the meter they wont turn it off, in that case I was being charged for some place I didn't live plus Duke did not stress landlord had to turn off service. Therefore I shouldn't be responsible for a bill where I didn't stay. if this was a PIP issue understandable but I was not told this and I need to know what the issue is. Customer service should not be this rude or not be knowledgeable about the service. I need a response are assistance with this with someone who can help and not be rude. I can be notified at [protected]@gmail.com with feed back. Thank you

Duke Energy electrical panels

So Duke Energy is replacing old electric panels they still own and my townhome has one of those panels. The new panel did not meet code and failed the inspection because they don't have proper clearance in front of the panel. They are aware that I am having a new a/c unit installed and they're telling me I have to relocate it (so they will be in compliance). This is going to cost me several hundred dollars on top of the cost of the a/c. They've lied to me several times saying the code was grandfathered in (which it was not), they stated it actually "passed" inspection they just can't finalize it until my a/c is installed, also that other units like mine have passed, which they have not. They haven't even been inspected yet. According to two Mecklenburg County Electrical Inspector Supervisors, none of the panels in my complex are going to pass if they are identical to mine (which they are) and it's Duke Energy's responsibility to make it right. Yet they refuse.

Duke Energy I live in new london, nc and there is a consistant power surge and power outage problem in this area.

I called and waited on customer service supervisor for 20 to 30 minutes. Supervisor never came to the phone while I was waiting on hold. I hung up the phone because I could not wait any longer. As a paying customer of Duke Energy, I have the right to know why this keeps happening in my area of residence. I do not appreciate the long wait time and not getting to talk with a supervisor like I asked. Right after I hang the phone up, the power cuts off again. It is not storming outside today. The weather is clear. My phone number is [protected].

Duke Energy warranty protection plan

Your Protection Plan Is a Scam
We have had 4 techs out to the home regarding our
A/C unit not cooling in the last month and no-one fixes it,
they just flip a breaker in the garage,
Now they are now telling us repair's are not covered
and we can buy a new unit for $5, 000,
This is absurd why would we pay all this time for a protection
plan when it is not being honoured,
I believe your protection plan with UPA is a scam
and I plan on taking this further,
I am looking into legal advise.

Duke Energy residential billing

On May 18, severe storms hit Saluda, NC, where we live. My friend's home, Michael Boles, was pushed completely off its foundation forward nearly 20 feet. The meter, piping and all other appendages of the home were, of course, literally yanked off the home (for lack of better a term). The meter was not only completely dislodged but buried under several feet of debris. When we discovered the home in this state around midnight that evening, our first call was to Duke Energy to ensure that power on the pole and service was disconnected for the safety of all.

Flash forward. Michael received his bill for the past period when there was NO meter to even read or "ping" as they call it, and Duke had been notified that the home was lost. It was not until last Wednesday, June 27 when a single power pole was hooked up to aid workers in their debris clean up efforts. But, he received a bill from Duke Energy that not only charged him, but increased over 10%! They could not explain.

Maybe a bit of investigative reporting and push back from the community could pressure Duke to explain. In addition, I live 2 miles from him strait up the mountain from his residence. My bill April 19 - May 18 was $109.60. I had a new unit installed for energy efficiency and actually had no HVAC for three days until new unit was installed. New bill for May 18 - June 21? $175.11. So much for efficiency.

On a side note: when I reiterated the issue with Michael's home being a total loss to validate my consumer concern, the customer service rep tried to tell me that it was possible the meter was stolen. Well, only if the thief thought it beneficial to bury it under ten feet of debris. What a stupid response.

Please help consumers to rectify this situation. According to the pics I have attached, does it look like there is meter on the side of the home that survived? Not a chance.

Sincerely,
Wendy Hamil

Duke Energy electric

The only things i have running regularly are a modem, router, Computer 2 lights, a refrigerator, freezer, oven, phone charger and water heater.
My mother 2 doors down uses a refigerator, freezer, dishwasher, washer, dryer, 8 lights? Computer, 3 tv's, oven, microwave, 3 gaming systems, 3 phone chargers, water heater, 3 cable boxes and a central air unit.
My power bill is $40 less than hers. How is this possible? No one ever comes out to read or check the meter. They cannot be charging me for my actual use.

Duke Energy electricity

Last month my bill was late due to that being the 2nd time they charged me a deposit of $250. I called and spoke to a women that removed the deposit but said only way she could do that is if I split my late bill over the next three bills. I was even willing to pay my bill in full just not the deposit but I was told that was not possible. I've now got next months bill and it's over $420 because they charged me the deposit again. I called thinking there may have been a mistake. But now I'm told that the deposit was never removes and it never will be and I still have to separate my last bill over the next two more bills! I just don't see how you can blatantly disregard what I was told last month. I have a 20 month and 2 month old daughter that's not gonna have electricity in their home now.

Duke Energy being lied to about late payment fees being taken off account

Hello,

I am beyond irate with duke/progress energies of nc. I am also ashamed to say my son-in-law a faithful lineman for the duke energy is putting his life on the line for a company that does not care at all about there billing ethics. I was threatened with a late charge then it was rectified to find out my account was billed the late fee and reported to the credit bureau, I have work order numbers, "managers names" and the assurance that duke energy would make it right! For your information you can reference one of two account #s [protected] and/or [protected]. If this is incapable of being rectified within a 24 hour time period my counsel is on retainer. Sincerely, michael and tina massengill. [protected]/tina. [protected]@yahoo.com

Duke Energy easement removal/burdened land

Shar Vegas Moore
2812 Denview Lane
Charlotte, NC 28208
[protected]

June 13, 2018

Attention: Duke Energy Consumer Affairs
RE: 1603 N. Rhyne Street, Gastonia NC 28054

I, the property owner of Parcel ID (119305) located at 1603 N. Rhyne Street, Gastonia NC 28054, is reaching out with a formal complaint about a utility easement/transmission line, Duke Energy installed in the center of my property without my permission. I spoke with Stephen Lord, the Asset Protection Manager and Administrator over Zone 3 in the City of Gastonia. Stephen was very unprofessional and did not return my calls or emails for two months. I even left voicemails. The first time I spoke with Stephen early March, he advised me of the permissible building codes/development allowed if the transmission pole was to remain on the property.

With Stephen's advice and permission, I moved forward with developing my land. I have reached out to Stephen Lord several times without response since then. Stephen in the first conversation also informed me that Duke Energy will not remove the pole because I am just one person and the transmission line supply a plant that is nowhere near my property and could cost duke $50, 000. I expressed my rights to Stephen in which he disregarded. I have emailed him directly requesting proof of the "right-away agreement". He has failed to follow up and response several times. Today I called the customer service line to try to reach him since my calls were being avoided. When I finally spoke with Stephen today, he was controversial and lacked customer service. I informed him of the violations he has caused me due to being ill advised. Stephen stated that the prior permission he gave me was about another parcel ID and that he made the mistake of researching the wrong property. I informed Stephen that due to his ill advising and lack of knowledge of permissible development, I have incurred zoning code violations as well as invested in a $7, 000 shed that I cannot place on the property due to Duke Energy easement.

Duke Energy has a transmission pole/power line located directly on my property and it is burdening my land and preventing me from personal use and limited access. I have called customer service as well as Stephen Lord several times concerning this matter; requesting to have the utility pole removed or an agreement furbished to me and my counsel. This has been on-going fight with Stephen Lord and Duke Energy since March of 2018. Duke Energy has failed to remove the pole and lack customer service and retention. Stephen showed no empathy or concern, although the bulk of this issue was a mistake made by him in the beginning. I asked to speak with Mark, Stephen's supervisor. Stephen said Mark was on vacation. I then asked to speak with someone in the place of Mark. Stephen told me he was not available either, and did not know when he would be available.

I have not been made aware of any prior permission or right away granted to Duke Energy, neither did I sign a "right-away" contract or aware of any agreement transferring with the property. This is my 2nd formal request and complaint to Duke Energy. The first formal request was sent to Stephen via email. Stephen proclaimed he never got my email, yet emailed me guidelines today from the same exact email address. I am requesting the transmission pole/easement belonging to Duke to be removed directly from my property within (7-10) business days. If this issue is not resolved, I will seek legal remedies and move forward with a civil suit against Duke Energy.

Thank you!

Shar Vegas Moore
Property Owner
