I have been getting voicemails from [protected] requesting callback at cell number provided by agency I do contract work for. Calls have been going on for months. I and agency have never done business with Drive Time. I've written to Albuquerque office listed for that number requesting they stop. They continue. I've tried to contact Drive Time national...

DriveTime Automotive Group my transmission went out under 100,000 miles

My mom went to drive time because she doesnt have the best credit and got a car from drivetime. She paid her biweekly payments for a 03 Ford taurus on time for almost 2years. I took the car to get new tires put on they told me that my alignment wouldnt be completely straight because my car had been wrecked before. So i told my mom and she said they showed her "carfax" saying that it was never in a wreck! So i was kind of confused then a couple monthes ago my transmission went out and i only had 80, 000 miles on the car. Well i couldnt afford to get the trans fixed so i notified drive time that they could pick it up where i had it towed. They told us that they would try to help us get it fixed and would have the owner call. Well he called only to try to make my mom look like a fool and told her she still owed 9700 which the car wasnt even that high when she bought the damn thing! and told her that there was nothing they could do. After a week after telling him to go get it everyday they call my moms house and her work trying to talk to management trying to garnish 25% of her paycheck and threatining her and she told them they could not call her place of business which they have been doing for almost 3 weeks now! They are ridiculous i know my mom doesnt have good credit but they just take advantage of you!

I'm in the middle of a similar issue. I haven't even had my vehicle for 30 days and it is already in the repair shop! The warranty department is also giving me a hard time. They gave me a rental only after I asked for one since the repair shop is stating that it will be few days before they will finish the work. Get this, the rental they offered, id a two door, two seater economy sized vehicle with no back seat. I have a daughter that uses a car seat. how is she supposed to ride with me safely? I caontacted them back ans advised them of this. They told me they are the only vehicle's they pay for and if I need something with a back seat, I had to come out of pocket for it! I am so discussed with this awful warranty department. They need to update or correct their procedures! On top of that, no one has even apologized for selling me a car that had to be in the repair shop less than 30 days after purchase.

DriveTime Automotive Group car laon

I have a car loan with drive time in mesa az, I am 18 days past due on my account i called to make arragments to not pay 1 payment but 3 payments. At 18 days past due I was not allowed to speak due to the so called rep on the phone demanding A payment by Saturday, I tried to explain my siuration and Fran as I was told was the rep's name that so rudley hung up on me but before he did he said "we will go ahead and pick up the car" then hung up on me. I called back to see if I needed to clean out my unit, and was told yes unless I made arrangements, I told Tim who I was speaking to this time was what i was trying to do before Fran hung up on me. Tim was happy to take my payment not 1 payment but 3, I work for a car finance company and repo a car over 18 days is absurd in these times today. Bad buissness Is what I have to say. Yes my credit is bad, but is it really nessacary for these types of tatics to and NOT to be treated like a human. I am going to do all I can to get out from under this loan. Yes they are sweet and nice when you go for help, but after that watch out people out there just trying to survive, My advise is to not purchase a car from this company. Dont be the fool I was, worse mistake of my life. And with any luck at all I will get out of this loan soon. they have given my information to ref's which by the way is not following guide lines. I have a daughter that works for this company 49 days to 90 and they are not allowed to even mention repo, Not only do Front end collectors for this company treat you like the scrum of the earth but do they really want the piece of junk they are having me pay for BACK! HONESTLY IT WOULD BE MY PLEASURE TO GIVE THIS BACK AND JUST FILE BK. I WISH I COULD CONTACT EVERYONE IN THIS COUNTRY AND TELL THEM, BIG BIG MISTAKE IF YOU PURCHASE FROM THIS COMPANY.

I currently have a car from Drivetime and I'm trying to get them to take it back. I believe that they lied on their CARFAX and if I got the real one I would have never bought that piece of junk car. It is not the finance company that calls you at all its the dealership and they ### you out until they hear they are gonna get some money. I understand its a used car and things go wrong and break down but 3 weeks in the starter gave out the headlights dont work cant use the air conditioning makes engine overheat the brakes are gone and now its dead in a parking lot wont start and i cant afford to find out whats wrong. Please dont go to Drivetime save your money for a while longer and go someplace else. Thanks for letting me vent.

Ok, your are just another idiot. Try paying your car note on time for once and they wouldn't call you. It doesnt matter what your situation is, when you signed the contract, you promised to make your payments on time. It is not the fault of the finance company that you are not able to repay them for the money they let you borrow.

DriveTime Automotive Group threats by customer service

I purchased a car from Drivetime 19 months ago, never been late with a payment until last month. I caught up on the payment and then started receiving phone calls regarding a late payment of $22.45. I received 11 phone calls in 10 minutes. I was told that if I didn't pay the $22.45 right away they would continue to call. I told them come take the car but under no circumstances are they to call me. The man on the phone the told me that he would call me whenever he wanted even if it means taking my phone number home with him to call me in the middle of the night. Because of that I have contacted an attorney, if for no other reason then to let Drivetime know that they cannot get away with their threatening ways. This all happened today, tomorrow I have an appointment with a reporter from the Las Vegas Review Journal so that he can hear the messages that have been left.

Drivetime couldn't give me a car. I would never do business with them again. Even though they financed me with my bad credit I would have been better off using public transportation.

They are a dispictable company.

DriveTime Automotive Group phoney referral fee

I bought a car from Drive Time, to be fair I haven't had any signigficant problems with the car but they promise you that if you refer someone that buys a car they will give you $250 for the referral. It has been almost year of going in circles with them and they still have not given me my $250. We received a call today (July 21, 2009, we did the referral in October 2008)that the reason we did not the referral is because we filed a Bankruptcy in May of 2009. Nowhere in our contract does it say that BK would be the reason for the denial but they say it is a policy. One by the way is not written down anywhere. They say we can file a complaint to their bosses but their is nothing that they can do. We should have received the referral fee long before we filed BK so why does it matter now. They will do anything to get out of paying what is due.

I bought a Ford Windstar from Drive Time in Oct 2007. I owned it for about 18months, when my husband went to do some routine maint. on it and discovered that the entire right side cross-member was rusted completly through. This would be in the area of the mounts, cradle, subframe that holds up the engine. I then called Drive Time and explained to them the damage. I took pictures of the rust damage as well. I was then instructed to call warranty people. I did so and they told me to get it checked out by one of thier service repaire places. Upon his inspection he reported that the Windstar must have been a vechicle from up (north) due to salted roads. We are from North Carolina. He proceeded to tell me that this type of damage usually happens over many years. We of course live in an area where snow is few and far between. When I looked at the Auto Check, and history report given to me by Drive Time themselves there were no reports of subframe damage. I also found out that the vehicle was purchased from Bethal Park, PA. The warranty department refused to fix the problem and said because I had the vechicle so long it was caused by me. After many months of fighting Drive Time, I decided to let them have the vechicle back. They are now sueing me for the remainder of the loan. I left court today, having the suite continued so that I can get my duck in a row. I took the pictures to other certified auto body repair places. All of them took one look at the pictures and said the same thing " this looks as if this was a vehicle bought from up north." To top it off they all agreed that it takes more than 18 months for this type of damage to occure. I was fortunate to have 3 of them type a certified letter confirming the pictures. I will be due back in court in August and I still trying to arm myself with more documents. So if any one has had the same problem please let me know every bit will help.

I purchased a car from drive time about 5 years ago...The car was clean with low mileage..I had no problems except promises were made for minor repairs that were never done. I was always able to call and let them know whenever I was going to be late. I felt that they really worked with me. I didn't like the fact that they call every one on your list of references (100 a day) if you do not call them when you are going to be late.

I had gone to DriveTime to co-sign for my brother. He had recently filed bankruptcy and was in need of a vehicle. DriveTime specializes in ripping off people with less than perfect credit. My brother picked out a 2006 Kia Spectra with 57000 miles on it. The car was priced at $12, 900. When I went the local Kia dealership website, I discovered that a brand...

From my experience Drivetime does in-fact sell vehicles that do have major mechanical problems (but I dont think from Katrina)

When I purchased my vehicle from them they gave me the choice between 8 cars, I was given a history report (from experian?) for each... I left went home and got both autocheck and Carfax on all vehicles. All of them had a horrible history whether it was accidents, thefts, damages, flood, fire, repos, mileage adjustments you name it these cars had it, their was one vehicle with a subpar history it had 6 repos on it (thats right 6) and nothing else, the car was also in the best mechanical condition.

I already knew I was going to be upside down on the car before I even signed the paperwork, and the salesman I worked with tried everything he could think of to convince me "its ok to be upside down". Only reason I purchased the car was the fact they gave me 2, 000 for my trade (which was worth about 1300), it was also the fact that this car was overpriced much less than the other vehicles.

I paid 10, 600 out the door with a 26% interest rate with payments of 180 bi-weekly. Me and my wifes credit were horrible (460 and 520), its obvious Drivetime preys on the weak, but there are a few simple things you can do to avoid it.

1. NEVER TRUST what these guys tell you
2. Do your own research about the car you are purchasing, don't believe the history report they give you.
3. DO NOT let them tell you how things are going to be when purchasing, your the one purchasing the car. Its your money you have control over it.
4. ALWAYS try and pay in person and get their signed payment receipt.
5. Have the vehicle your buying inspected by a licensed independent mechanic, before you purchase it ( If they say no question why It's your right )

I will say even though I was completely ****ed by Drivetime, I make my payments on-time and have seen my credit report go up to about a 560 I also now am making bi-weekly payments of $500 and am trading this for a new car ( I would rather be upside down a grand or two then 5 on this )

If you are going to buy a car from Drivetime do your research. They do follow very shady and unethical practices, make sure you do the same to them. In the end if you play yours cards right you wont end up losing to much and you can come out at the top. (Since your at the bottom going to these guys)

DriveTime Automotive Group van-dodge

In 2007 I got a Dodge Caravan with Drive Time out of Live Oak, Tx.The van was a 03, 55 thousand miles on it.The payments were 403.00 a month, which was fine but by time I paid it off I would of been paying 25 thousand for it.I liked the van and they said everything on it was working great.I took it for a test drive and it ran good.I drove the van 4 days a week 7 miles a day to and from work. After 9 weeks, I was driving to a doctors appt.cause I was sick with the flu and the van just stopped running right on the freeway.I had to try and get it off the road as soon as I could.I ended up having to steer and push it to the side of the highway. It would not start and when I tried to start it, the van made a loud whirling sound but wouldn't actually start.I called a tow truck and brought it home. The tow cost me 75 dollars.

I called drivetime and explained what had happened. The van itself was still under warranty at the time. The lady was very rude with me and told me that it wasn't her problem it broke down and that I should call the DT-repair hotline.I called the hotline and talked to a mechanic. He told me I could bring the van to the only shop in my area that did repairs for drivetime, tow it at my expense. The shop was about 40 miles away and the cheapest tow quote was 120 dollars to get it there. The van also had to be in the shop by 7am.I couldn't get it there that early because of work and having to pay extra for a tow truck to come pick it up early.I didn't get off work until 8am.The repair shop refused to accept the van after 7am.The Dt-Repair mechanic asked me over the phone what I thought the problem with the van was.I explained what happened to it and he then asked me again, what I thought was wrong with it? I don't know! I am not a mechanic!

I contacted the dealership where I bought the van to see if they had a tow truck or way to get the van to the repair shop. The woman I spoke to before, was rude with me again and said that they do not have a tow service.I explained the towing cost and she again said it wasn't her problem and that I should ask a friend to tow it to the shop.

I asked to speak with a manager about this issue as I now noticed that gasoline was leaking from under the van.I was told the manager would call me back by 2pm that day, that he was in a meeting and couldn't be reached.I waited 3 days and no one called me back.I called them back and was now told that the manager has been out of town since last week and won't be back until monday.(So they lied)

I called Monday and was told the manager was busy and she promised she would have him call me by 5pm.Well, 5pm came and went and no calls. Here the van still sits, leaking gas and won't start.I finally called the next day and got the manager. He informed me that he would look into the matter and try and work out a deal about the van.Since it was under warranty and I had only had it a very limited time, he would look into maybe a trade for something else or see about getting a tow truck to pick it up.He said he would call me back ASAP!

I waited 2 days and did not hear from them.I called them again and was told the manager was in a meeting and couldn't be reached until after 4pm.So at 4:15 I called and the manager got on the phone with me and said he was working on a tow truck and would call me back by that Thursday to pick it up.

Thursday came and went, so did Friday.I couldn't reach anyone on the weekend so I ended up calling the Corp. office on Monday to complain.I spoke with a woman named Cindy who told me to stop making payments on the van and that by tomorrow morning they would have someone contact me about working out a trade and would re work the loan and get me into a better vehicle. So I did not make the payment but no one called me back.

The next day my phone blew up with calls about my payment being one day past due.I told the lady who called the situation and what I was informed. She said she knew nothing about such a deal and that the payment was due right away.I told her I am not paying for a van that is not running, and the corp.office told me to stop making the payments cause they were to call me with a deal or a trade and loan rewrite.

Four more days passed and I ended up calling the dealership and speaking with that same manager who promised me a tow and repair. He said that since I'm not making a payment he didn't know if he could tow the van to get it fixed. He said he would call me back in an hour.I waited and he didn't call back (not shocked about that)

I gave it 3 more days and finally called the corp.office again. They claimed that they spoke with the manager at the Live Oak, Texas DriveTime and that he was going to contact me about the van.

TWO weeks later and me leaving about 12 messages with the office for the manager to call me back, he finally calls and tells me I must pay 804 dollars in due van loans, that the warranty for parts and labor expired yesterday on the van but that he will tow it to the shop and do the repairs and then add the repairs onto my loan at 25% interest or I can pay upfront the cost of repair and towing.I asked him about the trade in for a running van or car, by this time I was so angry about him waiting until the warranty expired before offering to repair.I told him to come pick up this piece of garbage and that I don't want it now nor do I want to do business with a bunch of crooks anymore!

He argued with me and told me he would pick up the van, repair it and add the towing and repairs onto my loan and that he neded 804 dollars for the past month of due loans.I told him I'm not paying for a van that I've not used cause the piece of junk has been broken and it took them so long to get back with me.

He argued with me and I finally told him to pick up this heep of junk, I DO NOT want it.He hung up on me.

I had a mechanic friend take a look at the van, the fuel tank was rusted out and had been repaired before and the transmission was blown on it.Under the drivers seat we found the previous owners repair bills for the van which included an estimate for a new transmission and alignment on the van itself.Drivetime sold me a van they knew was a hunk of junk.

Two days later I received a call from DriveTime from that same rude woman who told me that I was going to DIE without this van and that they were going to repo it and charge me thousands upon thousands of dollars for it.

They continued to call and stalk me for the payments which I refused to make. The van sat in my driveway for 4 months before the repo guy finally came and picked it up.

Now almost 1 1/2 years later, I am receiving life-threatning calls from a collection agency.Telling me I owe 11 thousand. They sold the van for 3 thousand and the remaining balance is due on the van.The collection agent who called me says he is going to come to my house and take every single thing I own from me and take my wages, social security and every single thing in my home worth a dime cause DriveTime will get their money and do anything and everything to make sure I suffer for not paying for that van.He also told me I was ignorant for not paying my car payment and that he didn't want to hear my excuse for not paying, that I owe them for the van and he would see me in court to take everything I own from my hands.

I am at my wits end as far as what to do with this company. They not only sold me a lemon but now they are stalking me and threatning me.I would of had no problem making the payments. It wasn't that I couldn't afford the payments! I was told by corp.office to hold off on the payments. The van was a nice one until it broke down. This company is terrible and I've told everyone I know not to do business with drivetime.

Also, while I was looking at cars, the salesman tried to sell me a black mazda car, I liked it but when he started the engine, a belt flew off from under the car and almost hit me in the legs.Goes to show what kind of cars they try to sell consumers and now I have this collection agency for drivetime, making terrible threats to take any money I earn to pay my rent and food.

I also should mention, I lost my job because I wasn't able to get to work on time after the van broke down! Thanks drive time!

DriveTime Automotive Group crappy car

I bought a car 3 years ago from drivetime. They seem to think that my mechanics are stupid! I have had nothing but problems starting with the engine! Buyer beware! I got took! The Car has no trade in Value! and they call me me everyday both at home and at work! I tried to work the payments out. explaining the salesman wasn't all that truthful about the vehicle... AS with the other complaints, The Company dosent't care they pry on the the indivduals who trust the most! They truly are the UGLY Duckling! By the way. The salesman and sales man are slimmy roaches not the customer as we are reffered to by the salesmen at drive time. BUYER BEWARE OR BETTER YET! run run fast as fast as you can. Bell Road Nissen Phoenix will give you a more honest deal or even go to Adessa auto auctions or Phoenix Auto Auctions The Odds are so much better...

DriveTime Automotive Group overprice and mean

We had a van through Drivetime that was totaled in an accident. The insurance company paid for the van so it would be a pay off, when we told drivetime they gave us the run around and then told us that they could not do anything until they had the check from the insurance co. The insurance company gave us more money than the van was worth but the check was in drivetimes and ours names. So know we are waiting around for a refund because we overpaid. They have given us the run around and are saying that it is going to take another month for us to get our money. Sad thing is we bought another car from them because they refused to but that we paid off the van. Our credit looked like we still owed on that car, so no other car loan was available other than drivetime. we overpaid about 5, 000 dollars before the high interest rate. DO NOT GO TO DRIVETIME. THEY WILL NOT HELP U.

DriveTime Automotive Group they are a rip off

Hey, I totally agree with every single comment. Drive Time is a total rip off. I only went with them because my boyfriend got hit with head on collision in my car and it was totalled. I needed a car right then after the insurance claim was finished. So we were driving down the road and seen the Drive Time sign. We went by and the car salesman lady was really nice. She was seeing what she could do. She was willing to work with me. I had the car since March 2008, and I was on time every single time. They make me pay every other week and sometimes depending on the months that may have 5 instead of 4 weeks thats 3 payments a total of $600 in one month is really not worth it for a 05 Chevy Impala. I am so disgusted in this company and they are a freaking RIPOFF. I was on time for almost a year straight, well around Christmas time 2008 when the economy and stuff was freaking riduclous, my boyfriend got laid off of his job so then our income was only comming from my work. They cut our OT and I was only getting 40 hours a week, let me tell you when you have rent, car insurance, food, utility bills and such I had more balances of my bills than I made. I started being like a week late each time a payment was due but I always paid on no later than a week later. When the payments were due on Sat Sun they are close, they would blow my phone up on Monday morning harrassing me. They wouldnt work me me, then the water pump and some manafold thang went bad. They wouldnt replace it and told me no matter what happens to my car I still have to be on time. What kind of SH** it that and they are making me pay like 9, 000 for Interested. Thats ridculous. Anyways, I talked to them a few times about placing me on a monthly plan. They said NO they can not do that. They want their money but will not work with you at all. I tried talking to the manager and told him what was going on. I told him I can not afford paying every other week I needed it monthly because this month thats three payments, he had the nerve to say Im sorry here at Drive Time Corporation we do not do that. Then said I dont see if you can not pay every other week what makes you think you can pay every month, I told him it would be less money and sometimes I might have more money one week than the other, then the ### said well I advise you to manage your money and balance our your budjet a little better. This is just ridculous. Please email me at [protected]@yahoo.com, IF ANYONE KNOW WHAT I SHOULD DO PLEASE...

I have had my drive time auto now for almost a year here in Phoenix and Ive paid extra payments when I have extra money and Ive been late twice by a day...A girl will call and say Hey whats UP...Never negative ...Never angry...AND Ive never been hit with any extra fees EVER ...When YOU sign the contract you are aware you are paying bi weekly..Its so they can keep in control customers who have a yecky credit score and known not to pay bills on time...They dont get paid...The criew doesnt get paid...My auto is only two years old and in excellent shape so far...I know one or two horror stories exist with every company.. Its human nature and occurs but not all the drama above...

I bought a car from drivetime in Mechanicsville, Va and it was a total ripoff. I bought it from a ### name Donnie the Sales Manger. When I found out the car was worth $8000 LESS THAN BOOKVALUE I tried to return it a week later. Manager Donnie said the District manager was in and I could speak with him since he had no authority (why is he a manager?) Well, the District manager Tom Duckworth looked like he had not shaved in a week and was sleeping at his desk in the back He would not come out to see me. I called the Regional office the cashier gave me and asked for the big boss. It was a guy named Keith Sarchett. He would not come to the phone or call me back. What a whimp! great customer service. When I went back to the office a week later, guess what, The big boss was in the office. Mr. Keith would not come out to see me. The cashier who I befriended stated Keith never handles customers. I know why now, he is 5 feet 6 and scared! She told me he knows that he is ripping off customers and calls all Drivetime customers sub sub prime becasue they are lower than subprime. Great way to talk about the people paying your paycheck.
Stay away from Keith Sarchett, Thomas Duckworth and Drivetime!

First things first... If you pay your payment on time they will not call you. They only call your references if you do not answer the phone. DriveTime is always willing to help you, if you keep the lines of communication open and let them know whats going on. THe company does not add any daily fees so you are clearly stating wrong information. THere is different options for getting you back on track with your payments if you do fall behind. Also, it is three times a year that you would have three payments for bi-weekly payments. if you were to move to monthly it would not just double yourbi-weekly payment amount... those three payments that you would be paying those three times a year would just be added into your monthly payment. so no matter what you would be paying those payments anyway. Thats why they do not suggest it.

I owe $600, and I'll be thru paying for my 1999 Olds Alero the ### sold me 3 1/2 yrs ago. I've paid way over 16, 000 for that car because of the deferred payment plan and a few times being no later than a week late with payments, NEVER over 30 days late! IS THAT A DAMN SHAME or what?! Advice to whom this may concern, NEVER EVER be a day late, even in hard times. Thats when THEIR daily fees hitcha! And as far as the deffered payment plan they offer, FORGET IT! PLEASE!

DriveTime Automotive Group harrassment and car flooded from hurricane

I bought a Toyota Minivan in 2006. After I purchased it, I realized it had been a car from the hurricane Katrina flood. Someone had died the carpet so it wouldnt be noticable.
Next, I made a payment AHEAD of time and didnt realize it was $10 short. Drivetime called me everyday and left messages with my family, my employer and my voicemail till I called them back.
HARRASSMENT over TEN dollars!

When i bought my car from our local Drivetime, they gave us a copy of a Carfax report. I haven't had any problems with my car itself, but the customer service sucks big time with this place. I don't know how to describe it. It's like they say they don't want your credit to be a problem, but they charge you outrageous payments and most of them want it paid bi-weekly...they know that it will cause a problem in the future and when you do pay, it will be along with late fees and interest charges. I bought my car in 2005 and it was a 2001 and when the smoke clears, we have paid over 16, 000 dollars for it. I owe 1200 on it and I am behind on payments and I have been threatened with repossession and I get harassing calls daily. My car is 8 years old and has well over 100, 000 miles on it...so, why they won't just work with me and let me pay it off is beyond me. My car itself is worth less than what is owed on it, according to Kelly Blue Book value.

Always look at a history report before buying a used car. Most places will let you see a history report on the car for free. I am not sure about DriveTime though, they seem to be a very bad place to get a car.

DriveTime Automotive Group corrupt dealership

I'm writing to say that I absolutely cannot understand why Drive Time Company has not been shut down by our federal government for practicing consumer fraud. Every day I've read complaints from hundreds of consumers and yet and still they are permitted to continue their dishonest and unethical business practices.

Why has the FBI not prosecuted them under RICO Law which is the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt organizations, especially since they are considered to be guilty of predatory lending.

This just further confirms that companies are allowed to sell lemon cars to the customers and there are no repercusions for this selling practice. I have not been able to find any attorney to handle my case, it seems that they are paying everyone off, including the media.

Of course, all dogs do have their day, it is all just a matter of time before their distasteful and relentless tactics catch up with them!

The complaint I have is with DriveTime the dealership i purchased the car from.I have only had the car 4 days shy of 90 days when the car broke down on me on the highway in rush hour traffic.I have taken this car to the dealership a total of three times since I purchased the car in March.I had the car towed to a mechanic that unknowingly previously worked for the company (that had nothing good to say about Drivetime)the repairs where made totaling a sum of $704.78 for a part that is under warranty.Due to the fact it was not one of their preferred mechanics "Drivetime" will not reimburse the total amount money paid for the repairs.Drivetime continues to expect payment for the car note but are completely rude about reimbursing the whole sum for repairs. The vehicle is a 2006 Chrysler Sebring.I now am forced to once again take the car back because the check engine light is on once again and the car also fishtails while driving.I've always made my car payment on time when its due but has had nothing but problems with the vehicle as well as the company since I purchased it starting a week after I drove off the lot with.I have 3 young children and I'm afraid this car is going to cause myself and/or my children great danger because it is not reliable.DriveTime was previously a company called UglyDucklin and had I known this I would have never stepped into their establishment.I am asking to be compensated for my inconvenience, out of pocket expense, and the problem to resolved as far as the vehicle is concerned.DriveTime's customer service is not customer friendly the representatives are completely and totally rude. Not customer friendly at all. They sold me a car that is not reliable and has taken my money for a down payment as well as car payments knowing the car is not in good condition.

I am a Drive time customer who would be happy to see their business closed. I am looking to filing a harrasment suit. A Mr Henry, who works somewhere in orlando has been beligerent, rude and out of order with my family members. My business with them will wrap up in Sept., but i will still pursue this. They lie, harras and they don't even know what they are doing.

To all the ppl Drivetime has affected,

Take a look at these websites:

http://phoenix.bizjournals.com/phoenix/stories/2009/04/20/story1.html

http://dockets.justia.com/

Carmax has just filed a major lawsuit on Drivetime because of their business practices. This is very likely going to put them out of business! I am an ex employee of 4 yrs and know first hand that they don't have a leg to stand on. This will most likely be the end of the choas. Just thought that would make the day of alot of ppl out there.

Just as well as these auto sales places are corrupt, so is the government. Just as long as the government makes money on sales tax and income tax(from their employees) they don't really care. It seems like the government protects bad businesses. That is why it is so difficult to get something done about them.

What you can do though, is "EXPOSE THEM." Warn people to stay away from these type of busiensses. Let the buyer beware. Reputation effects businesses more than these businesses seem to realize. They have some false idea that ripping people off will prosper them when in reality it will be the very thing that may put them out of business.

DriveTime Automotive Group claiming that I owe $12,000.00

I purchased a car from Ugly Duckling in 1997. After having the car for less than two months, the car died on a major Hwy and my car was towed to the nearest car repair shop by request of a police officer. I was told that it would cost about $2000, 00 to fix it. I called Ugly Duckling and they said that they would not fix the problem. I told them to come and pick up the car. After about a month, It my credit report reflected a "Volunteer Surrender." I called Ugly Duckling who told me that the car had already been sold. I heard nothing else and after about 7 years, it was removed from my credit report.

Now, after 12 years has gone by, I took a look at my credit report to see an amount for over $12, 000 dollars. I thought that someone had stollen my identity as I knew that I did not purchase a car for $12, 000 dollars. I called Drivetime who informed me that in 2005, my file was sold. When I called the agency in which it was sold, he said that the amount was not $12, 000 dollars, but $14, 000 dollars!

The car was old and not worth more than about $2, 000.00, if that. I feel that this is extortion. Why didn't Ugly DUckling put an amount 12 years ago? If I had owed any amount, it would have been paid off. Now, the rude person that I spoke to said that he could offer me a settlement of $5, 000.00 if I wrote out a check today!

There is NO way that I can pay that...Is there anything that I can do?

DriveTime Automotive Group horrible company

Five days after purchasing a vehicle from DriveTime, it was taken to the shop because of a grinding sound coming from underneath and the check engine light was on.

The shop (which DriveTime authorized) kept my vehicle for 3 days and said DriveTime refused to make repairs. They said I had to take it to their Drive Time Repair center for repairs.

So after driving for 1 1/2 hours and spending five hours at their repair center the vehicle was returned to me. On the way home the check engine light came on, the grinding sound returned and the car begin to over heat.

After having the car towed to the repair shop that DriveTime recommended, DriveTime informed me that the problems the vehicle has was not covered by the warranty and I was responsible for the repairs even though by this time I only had the vehicle for two weeks.

After having the car repaired again at a cost of $425.00 was able to drive the car for three more weeks, before it stopped running again. Again I had the vehicle towed to a repair shop they authorized and again I was informed by DriveTime, the problem with the vehicle was not covered by the warranty.

I bought a 2012 Genesis 4.6 from them. The car was supposed to cost only 14900. When I got out of the building and got into the car, they had somehow charged me another $3000.00. Said, I couldn't get approved if I didn't agree to the warranty fees, and one or two more charges for some other services? Anyway, I pay $450.00 per month for a year. COVID hits. I lose my job. So, I sign up for the 2 month deferral of payments. I don't think they deferred anything because the phone calls sure didn't stop...Anyway, as soon as I get re-employed, I start trying to catch up the payments, but on top of the already ridiculous interest rate, they had apparently started charging me an additional $11.00 per day for late fees. So, I start paying $636 every month to try and catch up on the past due balance, but what I didn't realize is that the $450 dollars per month that I had been paying wasn't even paying off any, not any of the balance. So, after about 12 payments of $450 and 6 or 7 more payments of $636.00 I still owed them nearly $18, 000.00. And that's right...the $636.00 per month was never going to catch anything up because at $11.00 per day, that's an additional $330 per month that I would need to pay on top of the $450.00 per month that wasn't paying anything down on what I originally owed. As a matter of fact, my balance was going up an additional $150.00 per month. And the phone calls...just about drove me crazy. I'd make a payment by phone and the very next day...they'd start calling me again. So, I paid $9852 over approximately 18 to 20 months on a car that should've only cost $14900 plus tax, and owed $18, 000 at the point which they came and got the car. Sold it for only $1500, and sent me a bill for the additional $16, 452. How is it that they can sell a car to me for more than 10 times what they sold it to someone else for...? If our judicial system sides with them, then we have definitely come to the point in the Bible where Jesus says, "there will come a day when wrong is right, and right is wrong."

BTW I'm not waiting on any class action lawsuit. I'm going to talk to an attorney about this next week. And, I didn't even mention: Apparently the car was involved in an accident because: 1. The drive shaft was bent, 2. The electronic parking brakes would lock up sometimes at a redlight and not disengage. The catalytic converters were missing, pipes were welded in place of them, the rims had been painted, with some cheap spray paint, that came off after the first wash. The driver side window fell down into the door less than 4 weeks after obtaining the car, had to buy a new driver side window, the driverside passenger door handle was broken. Had to buy another one of those... The passenger side rear window motor didn't work. Had to purchase another one of those, and I could name a few more...oh and the rearview camera would cut out sometimes while in reverse...oh and the left front headlight assembly shorted out...couldn't afford another one of those...they cost $1260 per each. Theres more but what good would it do to keep listing the problems...Heaven help me please.

This company is horrible! They prey on those who have already been had by our ecomony and other decitful companies. Interest rates are radiculious! 25% Shouldn't that be illegal. Oh and don't think about being late! They will call you family, friends, boss, neighbors... doesn't matter. You can call corp and file a complaint, but that is a waste of time and breathe. Corp doesn't know anything about any accounts. In fact, when we went to have a deferement on the account, corp called informing us they were turning our account over the repo because we are 10 days late! I immediately recanted and provided all the paperwork needed to prove we had submitted and been approved for the deferement. These people are rude and persistant. Even if you are the person who pays all bills on time, expect that call several times a day "reminding you of you payment." The store manager is something else too. He doesn't follow through with conversations either. It is companies like DriveTime that puts our ecomony in the red! Shut them down! Dont' do business with Drivetime, you will regret it.

Drivetime is a horrible company and I cannot stand dealing with their employees. I had to purchase a car from them because my credit was ruined during my divorce. I regret it daily. Two months ago, I was pulled over for driving with a suspended license and my vehicle was impounded. I had every intention of getting my vehicle out of impound, and while I was getting my license valid, drivetime came and took the vehicle out of impound. They called and let me know they had it and I had to jump through all these hoops to get it back. Even drive to a city 2 hours away, where it was being held. Turns out it was because they repossesed it. For no reason other than it was imponded. I was current on all my payments and everything else.

I got my vehicle returned, but under the condition that I sign a "Modification Agreement" to the contract. They did defer 3 payments for me, during the time I was working to get my vehicle back because it cost me nearly $3, 000. While I appreciate them working with me to get my vehicle back, I don't appreciate their tactics.

Currently, I am fighting with them, because one of the payments that they agreed to defer, according to the terms on their contract that I was required to sign, they made me make, and accused me of being late on. I am pretty sure they violated their own contract, and will be speaking with an attorney.

If you can avoid Drivetime - do so, at all costs. It is not worth the time, harassment, and shady activites on their part to purchase a vehicle from them.

i feel just because you have bad credit doesnt mean your a bad person, circumstances can lead to bad credit, in my case i did it all. i didnt pay my bills and my credit is bad. You still dont take advantage of people because, if youre going to mark up the car, give a decent interest rate, if youre going to have a high rate dont mark up car that much. drivetime is bad about both, i knew my rate was going to be high and the car was over priced, but its the price you pay for decisions you made in past. i will tell you this, if you can by a DT car any other car lot in the nation should finance you just on a signature...lol!

I'm currently purchasing a 2003 Chevy Impala through Drivetime. I wish someone had informed otherwise. My interest rate is 26%. The car wasn't clean when I purchased it and had no gas. The outside was all polished up but the next day I could really see the inside. There was dog hair everywhere. I called and talked to the young man I purchased the car from about this. He told me to bring it to be clean. They did something but clean wasn't it. That' s not the worst part. Brace yourself: the check lights has been on since day one- I was told that it was because my gas wasn't closed properly, and for them to look at it would cost me $40.00. When it rains it also rain in my car. I got into the car one day the back right floor had standing water.

I hadn't pay $40.00 of my car note when they called about it. It turned from $40.00 to $120.00.

My friend girl asked me about purchasing a car with drivetime I told her she would be making THE WORST DECISION of her life.

When I look at this car all want to do is blow it up.

DriveTime Automotive Group fraudsters and cheaters

In September of 2008 I arranged to take over the payments on my friend's 2001 Hyundai Elantra. The car was financed through Drivetime. When I took over the payments I was first told I could make the same payments on the 15th of every month. When I went to do the final paperwork I'm told that's changed and I would have to pay every two weeks or risk repossession. While there were no physical problems with the vehicle except for standard transmission and I'm not certain that counts. After three weeks of learning to drive this thing I go back to Drivetime and try to explain that I have scoliosis (my spine grows wrong) and that it made standard very painful for me, I was told that my payments had to be below 3500 for me to trade in the vehicle. When I told them I had just been left with a car I could not drive I was rudely told to take it up with corporate. Make this even worse, Drivetime never put my name on anything and I was never able to register the car. I never got a copy of the title. Their favorite excuse was that it was 'in the mail'. On November 3, 2008 that car was involved in an accident on NW Loop 410. It was totaled to say the least. I'm told I still owe money on it. I decided that since it's not in my name and I don't have it anymore that I wouldn't make payments until I got a copy of what I signed. My favorite part of this little tale is that while all of this was happening, my husband was in IRAQ and Drivetime is trying to contact his Commanding Officer. (He's in the Army). My sad little ending is that I now have a black mark on my credit and I'm hoping to be sued.

WOW!

You said this "My sad little ending is that I now have a black mark on my credit." Sorry, but this is beyond hilarious. You would never have stepped into DriveTime in the first place if your credit wasn't completely shot. In layman's terms, your credit is a -99 on a scale of 1-10.

Don't look for pity, we're all out. Welcome to the real world.

DriveTime Automotive Group unethical practices

My partner and I have bought 2 cars through Drive Time, only been late once on payments. Paid off both cars very early and was told that we were put in "Gold Member Status" which enabled us to go the dealership and purchase a vehicle, no money down. Early this year we were interested in purchasing a Ford Mustang that I saw on the lot. After doing my research I found that the vehicle was priced about $5000 above Blue Book value. I called our regular sales person anyway, told him that we were interested in the vehicle, no money down, and that we would have to negotiate the price because it was too high above supposed value. Went in and wasted a whole day sitting there only for the manager to tell me that we would have to put about $1500 down and that they could only take $500 off the price. I was highly upset. So I filed a complaint with the BBB who stated that the situation is out of their scope. Then on today I receive a funky little $25 gift card from a gentleman named Ray Sappington of Drive Time and an enclosed letter addressed, not to me, but instead to the BBB representative apologizing to her for any "misunderstanding", "inconvenience", and "confusion". I am in the process of returning the gift card to him, writing a follow up letter to the BBB and Mr. Sappington, and finding out who I need to go to about this shiesty business. I am very dissatisfied with the outcome of my complaint, the way that 2 loyal customers were treated, and their deceptive practices. I would LOVE to join a class action law suit against them.

DriveTime Automotive Group scam company

We came to Florida from Maryland. Had only been here a couple of months. Was worried about being scammed, but felt I was just over reacting due to being from a more rural area. There everybody knowns everybody so if you're not reputable, you don't survive. Drive Time was was recommended by another car dealership. Salesman friendly, won our trust. I explained that we just came off a bankruptcy and didn't want to get in over our heads so we needed a car with a payment under $200. He said "no problem. Anything on the lot under $400." There were a lot of nice cars, but this car was for work purposes for my husband and we wanted an older car with no frills-crank, no cruise, etc. We found one, but the saleman kept wanting us to get a newer, nicer, fully loaded car. I kept saying "we can't afford it. I need something with a payment under $200.00 per month. We found a 2002 hyundai, crank windows, no cruise, etc. I asked why the price was so high, about 12000.00 on a car that nada listed for around $[protected], and the salesman said "Oh that's not really what you pay. It will all be explained." ok we said. After all they are the professionals. I don't know everything about eveything. They have to be laws that protect the consumer. Drivetime completed the deal with us in the evening when few people were around and they were about ready to close-8:55pm. They spent about 5 minutes reviewing paperwork and we were out of there. On the way home, something bothered me. While reviewing the paperwork, the man quickly said the payment was $196.38 bi-weekly. There was a lot of paperwork to go through and they were trying to hurry so they could close, so I chalked it up to just a mistake in wording. I thought he just misspoke and what he really meant was monthly. I thought this because of him hurrying through things and also because I am over 50 years old and have bought other cars and have never bought a car where you make a bi-weekly payment. So I knew he misspoke or I missheard. At home I looked at the paperwork more closely. It WAS $196.38 bi-weekly. I flipped, but what could I do. I signed a paper saying I would pay for it and I traded in my van, my only other means of transportation. I felt I was stuck. I tried making the payments. I was late a couple of time and within 1 day of being late I would receive a call threatening repossession. Then after 3 months of buying the car it woudn't start. We went to the dealership. First they said they would replace the battery. Then they said no because maybe we left the lights on and caused the battery to die. If that were the case, the battery could be recharged. Then they said buy a battery and they would pay for it. Then they said no they wouldn't. This battery was totally dead. We had it checked at an autozone where we finally had to go buy a new battery. Next the rear defroster stopped working. Drivetime wouldn't pay for that because the warranty didn't cover replacing windows. Then the car wouldn't take gas right. While pumping, you'd get a few cents of gas in and then the pump would shut off like the car was full. It took forever to fill the gas tank. Each time we went back to Drivetime and got the same response. Oh once again they told us to get the gas problem fixed and they would pay, we said forget it. We didn't have the money and we didn't trust them to pay us back. During this time my husband's hours at work became less and less. Rather than risk missing payments, we decided to just give the car back and call it even. The car was collateral against the loan and since we could no longer afford to make payments on the loan, we wanted to save our credit by giving the collateral back. We took the car back, explained that even though we were quite explicit about what we could afford, less than $200 per month payment, what we ended up with was a car that was costing $400 per month and some months close to $600 per month and how we just couldn't continue to make payments on the car. We also reviewed the number of things wrong with the car and how we had not received any help from Drivetime with those problems. Now after all our efforts to keep our credit under control, we are facing bad credit due to Drivetime having reported us to the credit bureau for non-payment on the loan even though we gave back the car back within 5 months of purchase. I don't understand how they can have their collateral back AND report us for bad credit. Count us in on any legal action against Drivetime. And can anyone tell me how to get this off my credit.

I BOUGHT A CAR AT DRIVETIME IN ONTARIO CALIFORNI. I BOUGHT A2006 PT CRUISER. AFTER 3 MONTHS OF HAVING THE CAR THE AIR CONDITIONER WENT OUT. SHAWN SOLD ME THIS CAR. I TOLD THEM I WOULD BE CHANGING JOBS. SO THEY SET MY PAYMENTS TO PAY EVERY TWO WEEKS ACCORDING TO MY FIRST JOB . THEN I SWITCHED JOBS AND THE DATES CHANGED. THEY WANTED ME TO PAY 35 DOLLARS TO CHANGE THE DATES AND RE-SIGN A CONTRACT BECAUSE HE SAID BY THE WEEKS THE PAYMENTS FALL THIS WOULD MAKE MY CAR NOTE HIGHER. SO I TOLD THEN IM NOT PAYING NOTHING.THE GIRL SAID WELL YOU SIGNED THE CONTRAT SHOWING THE DATES. NOW MY CAR HAS INCORRECT SENSORS AND DOESNT DRIVE OVER 35 MILES AND JERKS. THEY SAID THEY WOULD FIX IT AND THAT THEY HAD SENT AN ORDER TOO THE CAR REPAIRED . I TOOK OFF OF WORK TO HAVE MY CAR FIXED. THEN WHEN I GOT TO THE CAR PLACE THEY SAID DRIVETIME IS KNOW FOR THIS. THE GUY TOLD ME THAT THEY DIDNT RECIEVE ANYTHING FROM DRIVETIME.THE MAN TOLD ME HE HATED THERE CONTRACT WITH DRIVETIME. THIS IS THE WORST PLACE TO GET A CAR FROM. THIS WAS MY FIRST TIME BUYING A CAR. THIS IS HORRIABLE. I JUST RECENTLY HAD A BABY AND WAS ON DISABILTY MY CHECKS DIDNT COME ON TIME BUT I MADE SURE I PAID THEM WITHIN 7 DAYS AFTER MY NOTE WAS DUE. I NEVER EVER WENT OVER 30 DAYS. SHE SAID SORRY WE SENT YOUR ACCOUNT TO DT COOPERATION ...WHAT? SO THEN I ASKED WELL IF I PAY 783 MONDAY WILL MY CAR BE IN REPO SHE SAID SHE DONT KNOW. SO I ASKED HER TO GIVE ME SOMEONE WHO DOES KNOW. SHE SAID I WONT KNOW UNTIL SATURDAY. RED FLAG I AM NOT GOING TO GO PAY 783 AND MY CAR IS STILL IN REPO. SHE SAID DT CORPERATION REPORTS TO DRIVE TIME. SO IF THATS THE CASE THEN WHY WOULD SHE HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL SATURDAYTO GIVE ME MORE INFO ABOUT THE CAR BEING IN REPO. LOST IM DONE WITH DRIVETIME AND THERE ### CARS.ALL SHE HAD TO SAY WAS ITS IN REPO INSTEAD SHE SAID I JUST DONT KNOW ITS NOTHING I CAN TELL YOU TODAY. THIS WAS MY FIRST TIME BEING PAST 30 DAYS LATE AND YOU CANT TELL ME IF MY CAR IN REPO OR NOT. MAKES ME ? WHO DOES SHE RELLY WORK FOR THATS SOMETHING SHE SHOULD KNOW. To all the ppl Drivetime has affected,

Take a look at these websites:

http://dockets.justia.com/

Carmax has just filed a major lawsuit on Drivetime because of their business practices. This is very likely going to put them out of business! I am an ex employee of 4 yrs and know first hand that they don't have a leg to stand on. This will most likely be the end of the choas. Just thought that would make the day of alot of ppl out there.
