Donvito Colision & Glass scheduled appointment to have vehicle fixed

I had attended Don Vito under the direct repair program and had an estimate done on my vehicle. When I called to schedule for the repairs to be done I was told they needed to order parts and was scheduled for the following week. When I arrived, the receptionist had no idea why I was there and could not find me in the schedule. She had checked with the parts department and told me that my parts had not even been ordered yet. She told me I could be rescheduled or put into a rental but it would take longer as the parts weren't there. I am appalled. Could I have not been notified sooner that it was going to take longer or did she just not do her job. The receptionist said that it was another receptionist who had taken my call and she wasn't in until later. I called back and asked if I had to get work from them. She told me that usually you get work done at the same place you get the estimate but if I wanted to get another shop to start the process over I could. I called mpi, they told me that I was not bound to that shop and they should give me an estimate summary and I can go elsewhere with it. Something she did not even offer when I asked if I had to stay with them. Completely unprofessional and ridiculous. I will never go to Don Vito again.

Donvito Colision & Glass Rental car

I've take my vehicle(Nissan Sentra 2015) to Donvito Collison and Glass at 1070 Arlington St. to repare a hail damage on December 5. They offered me a rental car trough Urental at 167 Mcphillips St. (a company owned by the same person who owns Donvito according Jacqueline, a employee from Donvito).

I got a Dodge Dart on that day and changed for a Ford focus on the end of the day December 6 because I work doing snow removal and I got stucked with this car about 8 times on December 6 resulting of the car being very low and because the snow storm we had.

On the very morning of December 7 I notice the Ford Focus had a problem not having the proper traction on the tires resulting of a problem on the traction control. I called Donvito right away at 9:06 AM to report the problem. I have spoken to a lady called Alisson( I am not sure about her name. It would something like this) who works with Jacqueline on Donvito. I told her I had the problem and on that time I was not sure if it was the tires or the traction control. But I wanted to exchange the car because I was afraid to have bigger problems with the car. She promised give me back in a few to say what I should do about the car. But nobody called me back. And since I did not hear back I did not go there because I did not know if they would exchange the car for me on that moment, also I could not lose time because I had a lot of work to get done since we had a huge snow storm. I went to do most part of my snow route on December 7 and 8 with a mate's car since I was afraid to use the Ford Focus.

When I finished my work on December 8 I took the Ford Forcus and I was going to Urental to see if I could get another car. I was driving through Broadway Ave when the wheels got locked up without I even press the break. I've tried to break softly on the first moment because I was very far to the car ahead me but it didn't work until the moment I needed to break harder. Unfortunately nothing made the wheels unlock and I have hit other car. The accident happened around 3PM.

So I went to Urental and explained what happened to the manager, a lady called Sara and told her I would not consider myself responsible for the accident because I had a problem with the car and I have reported the problems with the car 2 days before it happens. She treated me on a very rude way interrupting me all the time and saying I could not prove what I was telling her. She also told me that he received the call from Jacqueline from Donvito talking about my complaint about the Ford Focus. Sara told me that it was suppose to Jacqueline called me back and when I spoke to Jacqueline later she told me it was suppose to Sara calls me.

Jacqueline told me they would make a mechanical test on the vehicle to find out if there was a problem. They called me on the end of the day on December 12 to say there was nothing wrong with there car and I needed to afford the 500 hundred deductible to fix the Ford Focus on the moment my car gets done on Donvito. Nobody provided me I technical report proving the vehicle was working properly.
I tried to explain the facts to Eric the (manager from Donvito) and to Mathew(manager from Urental) but I did not get even the possibility to pay a smaller amount to them since they did not attended me when I reported the problem I had with the car.

As I said before since nobody from both companies called me back when I reported a serious problem with the rental car they provided me, and I had an accident caused by a mechanical and probably electronic failure on the traction control and ABS system, I believe they are responsible for it. And more, it could have been avoided if they had called me back to find out what was happening and exchanged the vehicle.

I hope I can have this situation solved by MPI making they recognize they committed a serious mistake not answering my request when I did it. Otherwise I will need to pay for something that I did not cause.

I had a negative experience with U rent with a Hyundai car I rented for a week. Long story short I returned it before my flight and they do a walk around telling me I had a scratch on the rear passenger side that was not there before. Firstly I could not even see what they were pointing at, I needed to get to the airport and was in little position to argue but was furious. When I picked up the car I noticed defects on the exterior such as scratches and noted these and also asked the agent for a different car because I felt there were probably many more little ones I missed but I signed the inspection paper and it was a huge mistake.

My first red flag should have been the shared space of an auto body repair shop and a rental car agency...
Because I have insurance coverage on my CC fir such things I was able to claim it. DVito quoted before I went to the airport at something ridiculous like $1000.00 or close to fix an invisible scratch. But they asked me a few times if I could claim it on my CC.
Bottom line - my fault for picking this place and signing the inspection form. Of course I have absolutely no proof of anything but I would strongly recommend anyone who thinks of renting a car at U rent in Winnipeg or dealing with Don Vito for anything at all, they do their research and document and take photos of everything...or find another option.
