My wife and I purchased a blue bicolor Ragdoll from Donna Cipley of Donnas Dolly's in Plainedge, NY in March of 2010. In November of 2010, this poor cat was diagnosed as having a heart murmur and thickening of the heart by a board certified cardiologist at only a little over one year of age! We would 100% NOT recommend using this breeder. We are posting this complaint so as to hopefully avoid anyone else from suffering the heartache that we've experienced in purchasing a Ragdoll with heart disease from this breeder.

My family has purchased 6 ragdolls in total from "Donna's Dolly's"! We are not friends or family or of the breeder. All are living except Alexander who recently passed away at the age of 18. He was my mother-in-laws kitty, when she passed he went to live with 2 other Ragdolls that were purchased from another litter from Donna's (they are now 14 years old). The remaining kitties are all healthy. My kitty baby from Donna' Dolly's just turned 15 in November. My sister's 13 year old male name Leo is a such a big mush of fur. He is the biggest in size of the 6 that we all own. I wanted purchase another Ragdoll 5 years ago so I contacted Donna. I spoke with her husband and found out that they weren't breeding anymore. I called several breeders on Long Island from Nassau all the way to the East End, and after being treated poorly by 2 which will remain nameless. I picked a breeder bought a new kitty baby. She is amazing, my whole family just loves her. I have 3 daughters 13, 10 & 5. I purchased the kitten after my youngest daughter was born I wanted them to grow up together. FYI, some breeders are not fond of families with young children! Some actually want to see home where the cat will live. Others asked to see the health records of my other cat!
Our little princess just turned 5 and has had a bunch of issues with her teeth since she was 3. Apparently someone in her bloodline has poor teeth : ( I did not ask for a refund, I could never part with her. We will do everything to assure she lives a long healthy spoiled life!

I have two kitties from Donna - one a 10 year old, "Yoji Baba" and a 5 year old "Dexter". I purchased them both from Donna's Dollies. The kitties have given me so much joy - they love each other and will actually tap you with a paw asking for a cuddle. Donna was wonderful to work with and I will be back for another beauty. I would not hesitate going to Donna's Dollies for a wonderful kitten. By the way, I am not related to Donna - just happy my husband found her website.

As I write this I am sitting next to our beautiful and healthy boy, Teanie that we purchased from Donna. He is stunning and a complete joy. I found dealing with them to be a delight. He is almost 10 and has had zero health issues. I

We got our beautiful Mia who I believe is Max's sister. She was born on 4/13/09. She died 8/20/2013 from heart disease. We did everything we could to save her but she was already in congestive heart failure. We bought her from Donna. We are devastated that this happened. When I called her to ask about if Mia's mom or dad had heart disease she replied no. Had I'd know then what I know now I would have never bought Mia from her. Devastated is an understatement. Our Mia was beautiful and should not have died at 4 years old. Dying for another Ragdoll but I don't think I could ever go through the heartbreak again. Are there any honest breeders out there?

Twelve years ago my two daughters and I had the absolute pleasure of meeting Donna and all her beautiful Ragdolls. We decided to give her a deposit, and a few months later we picked up our little sweetie, whom we named Emma.
I am neither related nor a friend of Donna or her family. That being said, I would like to say that she was so caring, and always willing to answer any silly question I had in the beginning. Being a first time cat owner, I had quite a few questions. She always emailed back promptly.
I would not hesitate to buy another Ragdoll from Donna. To be honest, I would not even look into dealing with another breeder, because I had such a positive experience dealing with Donna in the past.

I have purchased 2 cats from Donna (11 and 12 years ago) and am looking for another. When I recently attempted to look up "Donna's Dolly's" on the computer I saw these various "complaints" all made by only one individual . I am not a personal friend of Donna's and have not seen her in 11 years, but can honestly say that I did a lot of "looking around" and talking to breeders when I wanted to purchase my first cat ( we always adopted cats before). I found Donna to be a person of integrity who bred these beautiful animals with great care and has continued to do so for many years with "complaints" only from this one individual. Things happen, animals are not "pocketbooks"... But living breathing creatures who despite all of our best efforts, can get sick. Donna, who takes pride in what she does, would not intentionally sell a sick cat...so there must be more to this story. Anyone can lodge a "complaint"... Founded or unfounded all over the Internet in an attempt to harm the reputation and/or business of another. I am a careful and thoughtful
consumer of both information and things. I would be very happy to purchase my next cat from Donna and would recommend her to anyone looking for a beautiful, gentle animal with whom to share life .

Ed and Lisa Lewis of Luvlee Dolls tried to sell me this cat, Max. At first I was told he was just being retired from their breeding program as a natural sequence of events ... that they liked to see their breeders have a normal life as a pet in a loving home. Then the heart murmur was mentioned -- as "minor". (Thickening of the heart wall was never mentioned.). The selling price was $500. We gave them a $100 deposit. As the date approached to pick him up after he was neutered we received a "contract" relieving them of all liability and any future medical costs. We also received a picture of this beautiful cat with a luxurious coat shaved like a lion with a joking remark that it was his "summer hairdo" and would "grow back". This to a cat consigned to us with no regard for our feelings about this "mutilation". We were to pick him up within days and felt we should honor our commitment. Retired, driving from Florida, we felt it worth it nevertheless as we were getting a champion Ragdoll. We were concerned, however, about crossing over the Manhattan Bridge and driving on the Long Island Expressway. We suggested we be met off I-95 in New Jersey with us driving 1200 miles and them less than 100. The response was not to be concerned about when we would arrive, they would be home. All things considered, we decided not to buy Max. Our deposit was kept. So, THEN he was "petted" out for FREE to a relative! The initial complaint in this forum was one month after Ed and Lisa Lewis tried unsuccessfully to sell Max.

Well my testimony is this: I bought my ragdall from Donna about 6 years ago. She is sooo beautiful and soooo heathly. I had adopted a shelter cat just a few months prior to getting my blue eyed (almost purple eyed) Cheyenne from Donna. That was a bad idea - because my shelter cat, Scout taught my beautiful ragdoll all the habits of a regular cat. So she learned to not be so floppy but the affection she has is endless. I LOVE HER TO DEATH. SHE IS SOOO HEALTHY and I think she is happy - she hasn't run away yet - although before I got her fixed last year - she managed to sneak out and I caught her hanging out with some tom cat roaming the neighborhood- but I ran her behind inside just in time. Donna, thank you so much for such a beautiful cat!

Well, whether or not I was rude to you when you claim you spoke with me really doesn't matter. It's got nothing to do with this situation, but thank you for posting your opinion! And your claim that I spoke badly about other persons is completely irrelevant as well, and it is not true! Again...he says/she says...it's hearsay and does not matter. And, I really don't know why you continue to bring the house fire into all this, as I was sold the cat more than a year prior to any fire taking place, so I am not knocking someone when they're down. I had a similar tragedy in my life at a very young age, so I'm well aware of what it's like, and I certainly sympathize with such an unfortunate incident! But, I'm sorry...her house fire had absolutely nothing to do with this.

I do not personally know Donna and I am definitely not related to her! I got the LOVE OF MY LIFE FROM HER THOUGH! A beatiful amazing and HEALTHY ragdoll cat that I have cherished for a very long time. I remember Donna being very kind and professional. And thats nice that you would have waited for Donnas cats to have another litter. But I suffered the loss of a stray cat that I had taken in years ago and I wanted to fill the hole left in my heart with a new kitten immediately. No need for you to comment on that - everybody grieves differently. And I did contact Luvlee Dolls. Call me a LIAR. I really dont care. The reason I left a comment to begin with is because you were rude to me (a potential customer) and you did bad-mouth other breeders! VERY UNPROFESSIONAL! And like I said in my original post - surviving a house fire is something that you never forget and completely get over. Keep kicking somebody when they are down if it makes you feel better. Just shows what kind of a person you are.

Firstly, Denise Marie, it seems to me as if you're possibly a close personal friend of Donna's, or a family member for posting such a ridiculous post. If you had a cat from Donna, one would wonder why you would even bother calling other breeders...even if Donna had no kittens available, and I wanted another one of her babies, I know that I, myself, would certainly wait until she had an upcoming litter! Also, it's a little funny that you'd be doing any online research about Donna now...suspicious indeed. The fact of the matter, however, is that Donna's house fire took place AFTER the cat she sold me was diagnosed with a heart murmur, so this is just an unacceptable excuse! Also, you are a complete LIAR in saying that I've spoken with you and that I spoke badly concerning breeders located in RI and MA! Those two breeders to which you're speaking about have always been nothing but helpful to me. All I will say, is that they both have sold me HEALTHY cats...not one(s) which had developed a heart murmur at only a year of age! What you write is all hearsay and your own personal opinions...which mean NOTHING! He says, she says...WHO CARES? The ONLY FACT of the matter in this whole thing, is that Donna Cipley sold me a cat for breeding purposes which developed a heart murmur, and then refused to give me a refund or a replacement for him! That's the ONLY relevant fact of the matter here...you can say what you like...as can anyone else...but don't attempt to divert from the real story here and try and get away from the REAL fact of the matter...which is this poor cat developed a heart murmur at a year of age...and Donna wanted to accept no responsibility for it! THE END!

Both of these so-called "breeders" are thoroughly. unprofessional, completely unknowledgable and unaware that REAL breeders don't air their dirty laundry - especially when, since these folks don't know what they're talking about, it leads readers and animal rights groups to believe that ALL breeders are like these two backyard breeding catteries and should therefore be avoided and should have legislation enacted against them preventing the breeding of pedigreed animals.

I purchased the most beautiful, sweet, and healthy ragdoll kitten from Donnas Dollys about 10 years ago. His name is Leo and I feel like we were blessed when he came into our life. My dealings with Donna were always very professional and friendly. I could not think of one complaint to say about her or the way she raises her beautiful babies. I wanted to purchase another ragdoll since my experience with my first one has been so amazing. Donna had no kittens available when I was looking. I called several breeders and the one I remember the most was Luvlee Dolls. Unfortunately not for good reasons. The woman I spoke to (I believe her name was Lisa) was maybe having a bad day but she didnt seem like somebody that I wanted to do any business with. She was also very quick to tell me to be careful when looking to buy a cat and she had something bad to say about breeders from Long Island, Massachussetts and Rhode Island. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL ! And I would like to say one more thing regarding the above comment: I survived a house fire when I was very young. I am now almost 50 years old. It is something you never forget or completely get over. You seem like a very arrogant mean person to leave a comment showing that much hate.

Perhaps you should get the facts straight before opening up your mouth! The fact of the matter, Donna, is that you sold us a breeding cat which developed a heart murmur at less than a year of age by a board certified cardiologist, and then you refused to own up to being a decent breeder and provide us with a refund of the purchase price for him! He had already produced kittens BEFORE his heart murmur was diagnosed...and if you recall, you refused to provide us with a refund of the purchase price on him because you said that he had already produced kittens for us, and therefore, we weren't entitled to a refund! I had explained to you Donna, that WE are now responsible for these kittens which were produced from a breeding cat which you had sold to us. We've already had to provide a refund on a kitten which Max produced because the poor baby DIED of HCM at only 9 months of age Donna! Does that bother you at all? Well, it bothers me! I don't know how you can rest your head on the pillow on which you lie at night! I can't tell you how I've cried over the loss of that one poor, innocent, baby which was lost. WE, however, did the right thing and provided the poor family with a refund, and apologized profusely for their loss! I don't dodge phone calls Donna...I'm a responsible adult, and I stand behind what we produce. We do not harass anyone...we speak the absolute truth. In fact Donna, I have many of emails that I have received from YOU defaming a breeder who lives close to you on Long Island, so don't even go there. I don't ### people, and I don't expect people to ### me. And, really Donny, I wish you'd stop playing the "poor Donna" card already. Your house fire had absolutely nothing to do with this...this all happened prior to your house fire! You seem to have a few complaints filed online against you for selling sick kittens and not owning up to the responsibility of being a good breeder...not just from me! Heck...from what I've read, you don't even answer your phone for people that need to contact you concerning the welfare of the babies you've sold. Furthermore, we don't have ANY breeding cats from you any longer...they BOTH had to be altered and petted out...and we absolutely did not keep a single kitten out of your lines...due to heart problems! We took the loss on both of them, and gave both of the cats away for FREE to the families they now live with, and we had to start from scratch with the kind help of other breeders. I asked you previously to please remove our cattery name off of your site, as we do not have Max any longer, nor do I want to be in any way associated with you, but so far you have refused to do so. I'm asking you again to please remove our name from your website! Thank you!

That's funny Ed that you would post this as you used this "poor" cat in your breeding program even after he was diagnosed. You also use the female blue mitted you purchased also. I guess you and Lisa do not like having a breeder that lives close to you. Poor form really. Also super special of you to kick breeder down after fire that took everything breeder owned. Ed and Lisa continue to harass two breeders on Long Island now it makes you wonder doesn't it?
