Very poor 🤒
We don't know much about how Dollar Tree handles customer complaints outside ComplaintsBoard, but what we see here, on our website, is quite disappointing. We think there might be reasons for the company's actions (like not knowing about the complaints), and we would be happy to see them among customer-focused businesses that easily solve customer problems. But until that happens, we ask reviewers to be cautious when dealing with Dollar Tree and using their services, and to carefully read the experiences of other customers on ComplaintsBoard, because who is warned is armed, you know! 💪

Dollar Tree being overcharged/no refunds

On 6/17/17 I bought 6 tablecloths but was charged for 7, I brought them home but didn't use them or open. I forgot about them because we put them in the closet so I went to return them with my receipt and was told that I couldn't get a refund. I could understand if it was opened or perishable but it was neither, management told me that it says on the bottom of the receipt no refunds. Who would check all the way pass survey information to see no refund. I didn't see it posted anywhere in the store, I'm not crying about $6 but it's the principle. My problem is that I was charged for an extra item that I didn't receive or get credit for it. I was told to try back tomorrow and talk to another manager because the one today doesn't handle that. I've been shopping at Dollar Tree for years and no employee has ever said no refund, it needs to be posted. I shouldn't have to go out of my way to prove that I was charged for an extra tablecloth that I didn't buy. My email address is [protected]@yahoo.com and my # [protected]. Thanks for your prompt response.

Dollar Tree employee

How often do you all do randomly drug test?
I ask because I shop at your store which is located at 2640 Eastern Blvd Montgomery AL 36117 just about everyday because its very convenient for me and my husband. But I was shopping there and I couldn't help but notice that some of your employees had walked past me and I can't say if he or she but one of them smelled like they had been smoking marijuana and they was very loud but a couple weeks ago I smelled that same smelled. But my reason is to you is how can anyone of your employees help out a customers if they are asking for some assistance or asking for their help to reach the top shelf to get an item for them and they are under the influence of drugs thats bad customer service wouldn't you think so?

Dollar Tree manager randy store #168 lakeland, fl

Was going in to shop your food section went to go check out with a $100 bill and the lady said it looked different. Manager was called over Randy ONLY felt the $100 bill and said it was counterfeit and said he was going to TAKE our $100 bill. I was completely embarrassed and humiliated in front of a full busy store. The $100 bill was from 2006 and it DIDNT FEEL RIGHT TO RANDY THE MANAGER, didn't use the marker just by the feel of his hand. I then when to my bank TD Bank off of N 98 took a video of the bank teller telling us it is real and had the glow light $100 bills do and gave us $20 bills. We went back to the Dollar Tree #168 to speak to the manager Randy and he did not have the time to speak to us as I wanted to show him the video. He said that he catches counterfeit all the time everyday by FEELING the bill with his hands. Raising his voice in front of customers while ringing them up while your customers were telling him that is wrong. He than proceeded to tell us that we could leave the store and contact his manager or corporate office. I will be calling corporate on Monday and I'm writing this complaint.
This is completely unacceptable! The time and gas I wasted on top of the embarrassing and being completely humiliated by a manager that did not know how to do his job properly and I go to the Dollar Tree two to three times a week. I've never seen this manager before and have NEVER been treated like a criminal. I've been in retail for 23 years and this is unacceptable!

Dollar Tree bathroom filthy!

I am a frequent shopper at Dollar Tree. Today I took my 7 yr old granddaughter with me to the one on Palm Beach Blvd. Fort Myers, Fla. 33905. She needed to go to the bathroom. We told one of the clerks when we came out there was no soap in there to wash your hands. She said "this is only my fifth day". I said "Well, even if it is, surely you realize you need soap to wash your hands "(common sense). I said "can't you get some off the shelf and put it in there"? She says "that would be stealing". I felt like I was on Candid Camera! So another clerk comes up, and I ask her "can you put some soap in the bathroom". She says "The public is not supposed to go in there". So I say "Well, surely you and your co-workers use that bathroom and need to wash your hands". She then replies "I don't use the bathroom". This is ridiculous, and I just walked out shaking my head at this ignorant reply. The commode needed flushed when we walked in and the floor was dirty. Please have someone contact the management at this store and see why in the world they don't have any kind of soap whatever in there. It truly was appalling. Today is 6/29/17.

Dollar Tree treats staff badly

I've worked for Dollar Tree for a year as an asst. Manager. Since my start all the stores in our district have been short staffed. I wasn't allowed to be full time but was consistently scheduled full time due to shortage of managers and staff. I could never take my paid time off and now that I've given notice and left for a full time job they refuse to pay me my paid time off that I earned but couldn't take due to shortage of staff. Also I haven't been paid for all the bank runs, they are supposed to pay you by adding 5 minutes for each run, which the manager signs off on. We haven't really had a store manager so it wasn't getting done. I'm owed 33 bank runs. Since I quit nobody from corporate will respond to my request. They are an awful company to work for. Unsafe work conditions, low pay, treated badly and majority of the clientele steal or and treat the staff badly for things that aren't even there fault. It's not the managers or staffs fault for the long lines and messy stores. It's corporate, they won't allow more staff or hours. So being a dollar tree manager is getting it from all sides. And then to top it off they won't pay you if they can get away with it.

Dollar Tree employee

I go to this location frequently because it's near my home, I was just there yesterday as a matter of fact. Anyway, you used to have some very nice employees that knew customer service and we're very nice and now you have employees that are not nice.
They don't smile they're not kind they don't say hi or anything. I had an experience tonight and ended up putting everything back that I had gotten. I was looking to get some cream of chicken because I was going to make chicken and noodles and I wanted to get some other things but the soups are on the top shelf. I'm like 5 foot tall so I can't really reach the top shelves to see what is in the boxes because the box covers the label.
You know how the soups come in cases in the packs the little boxes are still under them so you can't see the title of what is in there so I was pulling the box back to try to see what kind of soup was in that particular box as she was walking back to the bathroom and she said ma'am please don't break the boxes open which I pull on that one and I pulled a little too far and pulled the Box open but it didn't affect anything and you know I don't know what else to do when I'm 5 foot tall and I can't see what's there I don't know why they need to be in the boxes anyway why don't they take them out of the box. This particular Dollar Tree is the one at 6358 Gender Road Canal Winchester Ohio 43110. I would suggest that you either teach them some proper customer etiquette or get rid of them because they're no good. They're rude. I did not purposely pop The Box open and it didn't affect anything nothing fell she didn't have to reorganize anything and I couldn't reach it so she was just a rude person that like I said I put everything back and I left I will go to Dollar General to get my items. As I am sitting here writing this two of my sister's pulled in to go there and I made sure to tell them about it.

Dollar Tree employee drug use

1150 N Interstate Hwy 35 #200, Round Rock, TX 78681
I hope this matter can be taken seriously and get resolved.
I shop at this location all the time, everytime I go there whenever this one employee is working she seems slow to respond and smells of marijuana, eyes are low, I tried speaking to someone who claimed they was a manager they ignored me. I believe this employee should be fired or at the very least drug tested to confirm what I am telling you.
I was going to write a review, but I hope this can be sorted out in store.
I had asked around for the last name of the employee
was told her full name is brandy chaves or brandy Chavez
to describe her apperance
she is Hispanic and is somewhat over weight not that it matters.
she can be rude sometimes and is quite impolite when the manager isn't around.

Dollar Tree bad store manager

I use to work at dollartree in milpitas the store was on park victoria. I left for maternity leave and the other day I went to talk to the store manager tanya and asked her if she needed any help because my cousin was looking for a parttime job and she was reliable but tanya said no because she had a full staff already. She said she would contact me if she got an open space and as I was talking with her I noticed her sister valerie came in the office to ask for a box cutter. After she walked out I told tanya I thought you weren't supposed to hire relatives and she said who was I referring to. I said your sister valerie she said to me that girl isn't my sister. I told her I remembered her from when I was working there. She would always come in and visit with tanya and she introduced her as her sister.. Tanya then admitted that she was but asked me not to mention it to no one.. She said that no one else knew and if she was asked she would tell them no.. Because they have different last names.[ because her sister is married ] so she is valerie garcia... I told her she better hope the d. M. Or corp. Don' and t find out cause you can lose your job.. She got an attitude with me because I told her she keeps hiring her family members or close friends and thatwasnt right.. She said who was I referring to and I said natalie rodriguez she said she got fired for stealing and I said yeah I heard natalie got caught by you [tanya] not once but twice and let her still cont. To work here.. She asked me who told me that and I said someone who still works here.. Tanya just said well it doesn't matter cause she isn't working here anymore.. I then told her if she had an opening anytime soon if she could let me know and I wrote my ph. Number down and I noticed when I handed it to her she kinda just tossed it to the side.. I said I would be in contact with her during the week and she just noded her head I felt like she was sort of irritated because of me telling her about her sister and friends she hired.. I said tanya don't worry I aint gonna say nothing. She said oh i'm just trying to figure out who is running there mouths about my business... I just left and as I walked home I thought to myself how has tanya lasted this long as store manager without getting in trouble for anything she does. Because before I left I remember how she would talk to a couple of other employees [curseing at them ] but they wouldn't say anything to her so I figured she knew who she could talk to like that and who not to... And she would come to work and I remember there where times she would just stay in the office alldayand talk on the ph. And be yelling at everyone else to do this and that.. The only time I really would see her out working was if she knew mark the d. M. Or corp. Was coming to our store... I dont think I really want my cousin to work there after all.. There is to much faulty stuff going on.. Dont get me wrong I like tanya she always talk to me when I was working and I never had any problemswith her but as a store manager she doesn't know were to draw the line wen it comes to communicating with some people and taking responsibility for her own actions but when she catches other people doing the exact same thing as her she is quick to tell on them or belittle them to everyone. And she most definitely is not an honest person... I really hope that store gets cleaned up and back on track the way it was before.. " no relatives working together or family friends' and there getting way more hours than people who have been there way longer than them...

Dollar Tree cashier/manager

There was a lady who was working with special needs kids that was behind me in line to check out. One of the kids was agitated so I asked her to go ahead of me. I explained to her that I have a grandson with special needs. The cashier glared at me for doing this kind act. After she rang up my items and I handed the cashier the check my husband took the bags out to the car. The cashier said next time he cannot do that until they are paid for. I said he always does that, she said we don't use the word always in this store. I mentioned that he usually asks first She said, we don't use the word usually in this store. My daughter and I called back the next day to speak to a manager and she happened to be the manager who helped me the day before. This company makes it very difficult to file a complaint. There is no number you can call to speak to a human, nor will they give you the general/regional managers number. I cannot believe they hire people like this to work with the public. This is the Dollar Tree at 6655 Wadsworth Blvd, Arvada, CO 80004. We did shop here all the time but I will NEVER STEP FOOT IN THIS STORE AGAIN. This manager should NEVER be in a position where she works with customers because she has no people skills, she is very rude and not a nice person. YOU DO NOT SPEAK TO CUSTOMERS IN THAT MANNER EVER. I was in total shock I wish I had my husband bring the bags back in to cancel my sale.

Dollar Tree customer service and restroom condition

Woodruff Rd., Greenville SC Store:
Usually love going to Dollar Tree and have never had an issue, until tonight. Went after work to pickup some items as many other were doing. Needed to use the restroom and walked in to find that all 4 rolls were empty. There was a supply shelf in there, but no toilet paper on it. Frustrated, I went searching for an associate to help but could find no one except the poor woman at the register who had a long line. Decided I needed to cut my shopping trip short so I could get home to use the restroom when I spotted an associate at the front of the store. I told her I'd been looking down all the aisles for someone to help me get toilet paper and showed her the picture I'd taken of the restroom which needed immediate attention. She looked at me and sarcastically said, you should have just gone and gotten some off the shelf or come and found someone. Hmmm.. 1. did I not just tell her that I had been searching the store for help? 2. I would never take it upon myself to take paper off the shelf in the store and take it in the restroom (your sign clearly states merchandise should not be taken into the restroom. She then continued in her sarcastic tone that "there's only 2 of us here". I stated that was a problem. She said, "that's Dollar Tree for you" - wow, way to represent your store. It continued to get worse... I went to stand in line, that had at least 7 people in it and the poor girl looked like she needed help. The other associate, in full view of her continued to unpack her boxes, in no hurry at all. 1. Why did she not immediately go and put toilet paper in the restroom and 2. why did she not open a register to help the other associate. The other associate had to ask for help on the intercom, to which, no help came right away. Another minute passed and she asked for help again and finally she meandered up (in no hurry) to open another register. I have not witnessed such poor customer service from anyone in a long time. The "lady" is make a horrible presentation of your store to the public. My closing thought is: It takes awhile to go through 4 rolls of paper in a bathroom, so when was this last checked?, and why are there only 2 employees working during a busy time when people are stopping in after work? I am hoping that someone takes the time to read this feedback from management and provides a response.

Dollar Tree customer service

Victim of racism.
June 17, 2017 I went to the Dollar Tree store to make a return of items I did not need. The manager told me that I could not get my money back or a store credit, that I had to exchange for another merchandise (which I did not need at that time) or to take the items back with me and return some other time store (which I find extremely ridiculous).
I picked up the new items and when I arrived where the manager was, she told me that I had to take a place on line at the registers up like any other person to make the exchange, which I refused because when I bought the initial items I was at the register line and it was unfair to spend more time and money in unnecessary products. When I tried to leave the store, she called the police, the first thing she told the person on the phone was “I have a female Hispanic, like all Hispanics for being minorities are thieves in addition to the derogatory comments that she made about my race in a rather low tone of voice, I guess not to have witnesses. She also banned me from that store. Her name is C. Christine and the store it’s located at 8101 University City Blvd Ste 1A Charlotte, NC [protected]. If Dollar Tree wants to avoid a claim for discrimination the company should transfer this person to a store where the demographic area is white like her or terminate her employment.

Dollar Tree product/service/store presentation

Good morning all,

i'm contacting you regarding a horrifying experience at your store location #3345. Upon entering the store to shop from the front door you all the floors and shelves were a complete mess! it was almost a joke and felt like a movie. The entire store looked as if there was a riot at the location. The state health inspectors need to come out and view this store asap its truly that ridiculous. I almost tripped over many boxes and dollar tree products that are all over the aisle in the entire store. No space to move around let alone think about what you came to purchase! everyone in the store complained and immediately requested the manager.

I spoke with an employee who informed she was the "shift manager" named shannon. She then asked why. I told her corporate and the health inspectors need to view the condition of the store asap and she requested i didn't leave her name in the comments instead the correct store manager name she informed was "ericka". There was an employee that just started she mentioned 4 days ago who agreed with me that corporate needed to be connected regarding this severe issue asap and the store should be closed due to the conditions.

I will be reporting this to the local georgia department of public health and the bbb asap. I expect a follow up outside of my letter regarding my concerns and thousands of other customers that live in the community and use this local store often. Were shocked, disgusted, and angry your company would even allow the public in this store location #3345. It looks like a big trash dump! the manager on duty and off duty needs to be fired immediately to have even allowed this to happen that's not leadership at all. If you cant run a dollar store you do not need to be a manager nor in the retail/customer service business. I can only imagine what all the employees homes look like. Just horrible!

i'm going to escalate this until the founder, owner, and skm partners see this and take immediate action so please don't avoid my online contact form/email and reach out to me asap [protected] and provide me with a direct contact i can reach regarding this issue if you team isn't who reviews this

Dollar Tree unprofessional assistant manager

I work the dollar tree in chatsworth Ga. May the 18th and a few other accessions, When my assistant manger pitched and grabbed my chest and nipple area in reaction I pinched her back. We have flirted before I started working there and some while I was there, but she has filled sexual harassment on me on the 13th of may a day after where me and my mothers celebrated her birthday in good faith there are photos on her social media of the gifts we gave her and we have sextext some and I and her have shared illusive photos and I have the photos of her to prove it. I do not belive it fair for me to be acused of sexual harasment alone where she is at fault as well. This investigation has lasted nearly two weeks now she has no evidence of me harassing her but I know the store cameras have video of her grepping, pinching, and twisting my nipples and using pens and markers and writing on me where she was flirting with me and in a since harassing me as well.

Dollar Tree unprofessional and rude store manager

First let me mention that I am a very long standing loyal customer. This incident occurred on June 20, 2017 at approximately 1:45 pm at the 4617 Hunting Dr. N. in Los Angeles, CA 90032 store. I came in to do a simple return of 9 items with receipt in hand. When I purchased the items I inquired about the return policy. Must have receipt and if seasonal items return before the season is over. I did as I was advised. Here is where the problem begins. I thought I could get some items for the returned items and the difference either store credit or refund. The cashier who appeared to be new said she didn't think I could get cash/or credit. As her line of customers is growing (she was the only cashier). She paged the manager (I didn't ask to call her). I told her I would get other items but I was concerned about the long line I asked her if she could freeze the transaction while I went to get the other items. Meanwhile the Manager (I use the term loosely) came and proceed to speak (or should I say bark out orders) to me regarding the store policy mind you she did this 2 lanes over while checking out other customers Her demeanor was very abrasive and challenging not professional at all. I proceed to gather some items randomly just to complete the transaction. 2 of the items were food products. The Manager shouted to the cashier not the food items. I responded to her why didn't you tell me that before I went all over the store to gather these items. Her respond was that is the store policy (again with a very negative attitude). Then her final statement was "I am bad". This is a term my 15 year grandson uses when he is trying to brush you off. Not very professional for a Manager to respond. I feel for the new cashier if this person is teaching her the "ropes" what is more frightening is how does she treat her.
Just so you know who I am, I am 66 year old woman well educated and worked in a professional capacity for 40 years. I never spoke to any of my clients in this manner no matter the situation. I don't make it a habit to try to annoy a person but what bothers me the most is the lack of respect for another person. Hopefully someone will address this issue with her may be provide more training or maybe she is in the wrong field.

Dollar Tree employees

I went today 20 miniutes before closing to get a leash for my service dog because I couldn't find hers. I didn't put her best on her. When I walked in kelly, in a pretty nasty tone said i'm sorry but we don't allow animals in the store. I replied she's a service dog. Kelly said well she needs to have her vest and I said no she doesn't. She proceeded to argue with me and said yes she's dos and I said no I don't. So then she snotty responded do you want to speak to a manager and I said no I don't need to speak to a manager. I had my husband take the dog home and get a vest. I proceeded to shop and when it was my turn to pay. Kelly who I noticed was greeting everyone different than myself, started cashing me out and I told her I just want to let you know that you need to get updated on rules. It's illegal what you did by law you are only allowed to ask me two questions. Well she decided to continue to argue that she was right and then said I was offending her. I laughed in shock and said i'm offending you? She started crying saying I was offending her and I just said look i'm being nice by telling you you need to learn the laws so you don't get fined. She proceeded to have a melt down acting like she was the one who was wronged. By that time I knew she just wanted to be right so I left my husband was back with the dog in her vest and so I showed her and said here see she had a vest but I stand by she doesn't need one. I said I apologize for making you cry but gosh I should be the one crying. She humiliated me twice once when entering and once again at the check out. I won't spend my money there anymore and that might not mean much I but I will tell all the people I know who have disabilities as well not to stay there. Or to document this illegal behavior so they can get sued.
