Dollar General accused/threatened

I walked into a local DG to be welcomed by a new young employee. I headed to the back looking to see if they had any Hot Wheels for their two for one Thanksgiving sale. When I turned around this employee told me I had to leave. I asked why, and he told me they have me on camera going into the back and stealing a cell phone. I couldn't believe this because it is absolutely not true and I become offended when accused of something I did not do. I looked him in the face and claimed to be innocent and that if he really had me on video to call the cops which I'm pretty sure he did not do. I left the store and he smirked in a way that gave me the feeling that he was the one who might have stolen this cell phone, apparently from a worker out of the back room. Now I should be honest here. I regularly stop in this store and check for new Hot Wheels. I also sometimes pop my head into the back room to see if I spot any cases on the carts. However, I have NEVER nor would I EVER steal anything. I'm upset over the accusation that I would be robbing a dollar store. I am a college educated professional and am personally offended. I am considering my options about complaining but, after finding this forum and reading the horror stories from former employees, I think it might be best to not give Dollar General my hard earned dollar instead.

I'm telling you I didn't steal. I wouldn't be trying to clear my name if I did. Just like td577 says, who would steal a cell phone? If you stole one, it would just get disconnected then if you went to get it connected you would most likely get busted for trying to activate a stolen phone. I have a cell phone and I don't need someone else's.

You are obviously missing the point of being accused of stealing something that I did not steal. Actually that employee was probably covering his own ###. His smirk when I left gave me the impression that he was the thief.

Wow what great advice. How about I just spend my money where it is welcomed?

Claims to have video but, refused to show me it. You would think if they had video the cops would be there.

He was standing with the manager when the employee welcomed me. I think after he welcomed me the manager sent him to me.

There should be NO questions asked as to why u r returning it, especially if it does not work.

As a manager of Dollar General, , I agree with those who say not to be in the back room. What makes you think that you have the right to step foot back there? And further more, , putting yourself in a place where you know you shouldn't be tells me that you obviously don't always do what's right. So who's to say that you didn't steal the phone? I'm not saying that you did because I wasn't there, but if you put yourself in a position to be suspected then don't complain when someone does suspect you. It's that simple.. From now on, don't go into places that you know you don't belong. That's just common sense.

Wow. I think everyone is missing the point. Sure, it's not right to look in the back room, but the point is that he was framed and asked to leave the store for something he didn't do. Why is everyone making such a big deal about this? That employee needs to be fired.

In addition to the comment saying that the equipment is junk, the equipment also tends to have two or three generic messages it gives for why it won't take a card. And there have been several times that it was on the bank's end. You would cry if you knew how often banks cover up hacking incidents and computer glitches.

It very well could have been the DG machines. Our machines are junk, and we have daily issues. I spend about an hour a day on the phone with ERC trying to fix all of our computer issues. They never send anyone physically to the store. They just make us shut the machines down while they send new updates. I'm sorry, but these updates are obviously not helping. The computer have to be from the early nineties, first off. They can't handle all of the updates and ADs that get sent to them.. the computer constantly freeze in the middle of transactions, the other day the EBT Food option conpletely disappeared from our pinpads.

I don't disagree with you that it could have been our machines, but you have to understand that it isn't our fault. We, at least my team, does what we can to fix the problems on a daily basis, but nothing ever gets done, because DG is far too cheap to actually put forth the money to take care of the problem.

I am pretty sure the problem was still on your end. When credit card systems are not working, they display different messages than the typical "declined." Do you have a daily limit, perhaps?

Dollar General rude... no customer service

On Nov. 7th I purchases 4 items from this store...Amount paid $15.58 for items. Day or two later tried to return the pet bed for $5.00. The sales person said could not return until check cleared. So I went back to store on Nov. 17th to return the pet bed. The person who was at register this time was Richie...think he suppose to be manager or assistant manager in that store. Anyway, he asked what problem was..I said, cat wasn't interested in the bed, so wanted to return it. I gave him the receipt. I had items I wanted to purchase on counter. I told him I need my receipt back..he said I couldn't have it. He told me I could read refund rules. I told him it did not say you had to keep receipt. He said; yeah but I need it for all my paperwork. I said you could make copy; he said; don't have copying machine. Then he got hateful and said..Well, do you want it or not! I said ; give it to me (referring to the receipt). So I just took the receipt; left items I wanted on the counter and left the store. There was other customers around at this time; who could hear his hateful way. So today, Nov. 19th I went to Vincennes; wanted to see how it would be to return it in this store. I returned it; got refund and inquired how I could file a complaint on Richie from Washington Dollar General Stoare. When I ask for refund Bonnie took care it very simply and kindly. She spoke to follow employee there very nicely when she questioned her about something. Then Bonnie went and got Annette (manager or assistant manager of that store). Annette was very kind and helpful to let me know what I should do when treated wrong.

I was shopping in the dog food aisle when a employee literally
Stomped over to the aisle I was in, reached down in the floor and picked up a toy off of the floor and threw it up on the shelf. I had apparently dropped something and I did not realize it but the woman employee stomped over to me and said, "I would like to see what your house looks like, as lazy as you are. You probably throw everything on the floor." I will NOT be returning until she has been released,

I bought several items. The price seemed high but I did not read my ticket until I got home. I made three trips to the store to settle my complaint one way or the other. Each time I was told the manager was not available. Finally a young small girl with dark hair just brushed me off rudely saying it was a mistake of the register. Too bad. It involved $13 and a little change. That is a lot of money to me. I will use another store from here on out. The smaller girl was rude.

On 11/30/09 at 15:36:32 I purchased several items, one of which was a 6 pack of dr pepper soda. The checker bagged them for me, I placed them in the cart and exited the store. Upon arrivale at my truck I noticed my boot was wet. The 6 pk of soda was leaking through the bag, through the cart, and onto the ground. I the took the bag of soda back to door and ask one of the ladies what I should do with leaking cans, and if I could have an exchance. I was told that it was not their problem. And shunned off. Ithen took out the two leaking cans dropped in front of the door, and left with 2 cans shy of what I paid for. Come to find the other 4 was flat.

Happy holidays to me;

Dollar General unfair firing

I worked for Dollar General for 3 1/2 years. I was one of the only people who would work extra to replace a person who was in need. I am disabled as known by the manager the reasons of disability. The manager named Dale...fired for calling in sick. I worked very sick the days before, until I became too weak to work. I called in the second day of illness and was told that if I did not come in, I would be fired because she (the manager) did not have any one to come in and work with her that night. Needless to say, I was fired, longest working employee at that store... At that store I was the only male. The new female hirees some would work a day or week and not show up or call in...She hired one that worked a short time and never called in but would not fire her until after the 3rd day of calling in. She had one female employee that took a 2 week sick leave right before I was fired. The reason for the sick leave...Boob job! When the manager was being questioned about her use of obscenities at the customers, my brother told me to lie for her, due to the fact she had a heart trouble.Well you can see how she paid me back, fired me for following the rules, simply because she did not like my disability. Dollar General is without a doubt a very poor job choice. I take pride in my work, but the some of the managers could care less. I have turned this over to the EEOC and to my Attorney who works for Dallas Hospice. I worked for 3 managers at this store, and Dale was #3. I was done dirty, but intend to pursue this case, maybe some in Dollar General Main Office will wake up to what goes on in thier stores if they care, If not they deserve a state of constant litigation. The attorney said I could get my job back, but who would want to work for these people? I do have witness to what I have said working at and some that have quit the store, I can back up everything I have said.

Have you complained to the Labor Dept. employee at your local state employment agency about your treatment? I had an employer whose HR person fired me without his permission when he was in the hospital. I went to the state employment agency and sent a letter to the unemployment appeals board explaining the circumstances of the firing and the duties I performed at the company. I asked the appeals board to okay unemployment benefits for me even though I was fired. They did.

If you have to put on an employment application for a new job that you were fired without cause from the last one, you can add statements like the one above to explain your firing.

While you seem to have a somewhat legitimate complaint, I would suggest you forget Dollar General and go back to school to learn better skills, including writing proper English, which I assume is your native language? Your writing shows limited education, and employers tend to think that if you can't express yourself properly, you are unintelligent or lower class, although that may not be the case at all.

If you need to finish high school, please do. If you need a GED, get one. If you then are ready to go to college and learn some skills that could get you a REALl career, not just a job, you can probably qualify for financial aid in the form of grants, scholarships or loans.

The most important thing, ladies of Dollar General, is not to let companies like this take advantage of you just because you are women. You are worth more than that! And never, never, never give up! If you need help to get ahead, don't be ashamed to keep asking until you get it.

God bless you.

Dollar General terminated

Im a store manager... Im currently under suspension pending investigation... It was said in our last meeting that they are firing anybody and everybody for anything and everything... Ok I will admit I did have someone in my store that wasnt a dg employee helping me. My dm told me to do what I had to do to get the job done, no other stores had extra people to lend, no good apps, and I was running 200-300 under payroll a week what a waste! Any store manager would agree, ya'll would die for that right? Anyways, there was nothing stolen from the store, I have camaras to prove that, during the conversation with lp, wait I failed to mention my dm had "quit" 2 days prior, who knows what really happened, ok... Lp... He stated to me and I quote "so if I contact"dms name"and remember I still have his number, he will tell me he said it was ok for you to work a non-dg employee?" I said "no, he told me to do what I had to do to get the job done" so I did.. Yes its 110% against policy but either way if my store wasnt done I was losing my job, and if I got caught working the nondg-employee I was losing my job. However, with the statement he made, contacting my former dm, means he would be discussing dg with a non-dg employee? Hmmmmmm 2 wrongs dont make a right... Our region is well I dont know how to explain it, but I will say when you have around 9 dms w / the rm, also around 150 employees cleaning up 7 stores in a 48 hr time frame for a kathleen visit, lets just put it out... Would it be safe to say renting uhaul trucks and putting rolltainers full of product in them, taking them to a disclosed location for 24-48 hrs (Until kathleen was back home) without a outgoing transfer against policy? That could fall under employee theft, it was removed from stores by dms w / rms permission... Ok so it was brought back... I saw it leave, but never saw it return... So I will lose my job for struggling in a store that cant keep a manager... I run a perfect store before I agreed to take this one... Never any problems (After I got it model) I was one of the lucky ones... And dms and rm will keep their... I see a problem w / this... Not to mention that lp went outside and yelled at one of my employees she wasnt even clocked in... I just dont get it guys...
Update*since I first posted this... I was fired for stuff the rm and dms allowed also... And now im finding out that the manager previous to me was making 2, 000 more per year than what I was... He was only with the company 6 months...

Dollar General district manager

I was working for them part-time to help with finances due to my husband losing his job and after finding another was much lower in pay.
I honestly can say I have never heard such rules and stipulations in the workplace.
Cell phones I understand, uniforms/clothes specifications ok no big deal, but... No employee is allowed to buy any! Product after 6pm, to take home. Period. Why? If u keep sales recpt and manager cks you out. Why do the employees have to go elsewhere to buy products that is sold right there? Nobody knows if family calls and needs bread, medicine etc after 6pm. Also there is no! Support from district managers to their staff. Yes I understand the customer is right but, , , , not all the time. There is a line there and they should take up for us to some extent if it is crossed. I watched an incident, we wont go into here, and confronted the person, after that is was chaos! I was never talked to by dist. Manager for my side only asked for written report... He watches camara ok fine, nobody should have to take the abuse I took and stand there quietly, then to have the person say they are not going to stop until they have my job! Well congratulations you got it! But by my choice. There is no employer/employee connection at all. The employees are robots, not humans. Watch cash register but stock shelfs, dont make customers wait, but dont stand and do nothing, come on... There is no mirrors, or bells for customers to ring but I guess we are to have esp or something to know when someone is at cash register. And show no emotions when your being attacked for doing your job. Oh and if you are a cashier you better check with your immediate supervisor to make sure what you can and can't do. Because if you witness something suspicious you better just ignore it because your not allowed to acknowledge it, because your cashier... Don't know how they expect to win cases in court without eyewitness but they know best huh?... Sorry for sounding off but what is happening to our world today. Our we so greedy that we want to get what we want no matter who it hurts or destroys... As in my case, makes it harder to live, because you do not qualify for any state/county assistance. Hope your satisfied lady. God bless you and yours, because I know he has me. Thank you for a blessing in disguise. What you intended as harm as been a gift to me. Have a great day. Jp 10-07-2010

Dollar General general manager stealing

This is a copy of the message I sent to Dollar General and if I receive a reply it will be posted as well. Although I doubt that I will get one and if I actually do I will probably receive some generic "we are sorry for your experience" reply.

I wanted to let you know that you have a Manager employed at the Wyoming, IL location who may be stealing. I also know that he is not very professional. I hope this is not how most of your Managers are but from looking on Complaintsboard.com it seems to be the case. I know a girl who was working at this location and for all I know she may have been a terrible worker and needed fired but the situation surrounding her termination is a little odd. I have known her for quite some time. She has had several different cash handling jobs and has never had an issue with cash. At your store she was never allowed to count her drawer before she began using it. This is a cash handling procedure at all the businesses I have run. Is it not your policy to allow employees to confirm their till before beginning their shift? Also she was allowed to witness the drawer being counted which again is policy everywhere I have run. Yet the first time her drawer was short she was not allowed in the office with the manager. Then the second and final time she was short again she was sent away to do work elsewhere in the store. Is it also not your policy to allow employees to witness the counting of their drawer?

Also as far as how professional the Manager is. I understand that you don't call or text someone to terminate them. Which this manager did not do. However, he did text her to have her drop what she was doing to come in an hour and forty-five minutes early. She told him that she would try but was busy taking care of something important. He reiterated by saying that it was imperative that she come in at 3. She told him that she could make it for her shift. He told her that the schedule was already taken care of. She asked if she was being let go and his reply was that he had to talk to her in person. He then told her that she needed to be there at 8am in the morning.
I feel if he needed to terminate her then he should wait until she came in for her shift not try and get her in early so she would be unable to take care of prior business.

Also a quick internet search resulted in finding out where this manager worked via news articles. In one case he told his employees to tell customers when they had an issue to agree with them and tell them that they are working for a terrible company who does not care and will be out of business soon.
Also a news article shows where he was reprimanded for speaking with news reporters after being told by his employer not too.

Until I went to complaintsboard.com I wasn't so much concerned with the lack of competence shown by your manager at this location but it has come to my attention that Management is an issue in very many of your stores.

I will be posting my own complaint as well.

What I'm mostly concerned about is what your cash policies are. I am not going to continue shopping with a store that continually denies their employees the normal securities against unethical management that most provide.

A reply to this would be greatly appreciated.

Its a good thing your husband is the one going to school and getting a degree to support your family. Your level of ignorance and stupidity is shocking. I feel sorry for your children who are being raised by an uneducated pathetic homophobe. The manager is the one who should be filing a lawsuit. Against you!

I think you should really reword what you say. Being a "###", not a ###, you really shouldn't word it like that. I'm sorry you had a ### experience, but you're really going to piss some people off, and they won't be as nice about it as I am. Also, the lack of grammar makes it difficult to read this, at all. Try calling Corporate, if you truly believe this happened. I work in a DG as a manager, and something like this should never, and would never happen at my store, and we have 4 "###" working in my store. If you're that hard pressed, google the number to Corporate. I'm not bothered enough to look it up, because I find this highly unbelievable. Anyone person that cares about their job would know better than to do something like that. Call corporate, don't call people "###."

Dollar General cashier

I entered the store, visible employee, said good morning, amended to good afternoon. I was accompanied by my husband who is white. I am a black female. I had no purse or coat as its summer in Texas. sweats so no pockets. The cashier followed me to the aisle I was in, busily doing nothing, just looking at the shelves. I dismissed it as coincidence but as she lingered I moved to the next aisle. Again I was followed to this aisle, again she's looking at the shelves, fixing nothing. Her name is August. She never moved to any other aisle even though the store at the time had other shoppers including my husband. I was and am very disturbed about the incident and will also file a complaint with the corporate office.

Dollar General everything

So far, I am 22 years old, I have worked retail since I have been 16, I have worked for many other business like shopko, pamida, caseys general stores (At casey's I was able to obtain a assistant managers posistion) , and now dollar general... Dg so far has to be the worst store I have ever worked for, I have more experience than most of the people working there and yet was hired on as a key carrier, but still haven't even been promoted to that posisition so I wonder when or if that will happen, the lack of trust the entire company sees in employees is unbelievable, there is no need my jacket/lunch pail needs to be searched when my shift is over to see if I have stole anything, the dm makes a point to come into the store to watch the employees on the security cameras to see if we are doing anything wrong. The company policy where I cannot have something to drink with me at the register, that it has to be in the break room at all times, is total crap or when i'm expected to stock a rolltainer an hour while being lead cashier is another load of bull. Simple things such as me not being able to void an item off a ticket, that I have to call a mod up to do, is extremely inefficient. Also another thing I dislike is the dollar general literacy fund.. You are pretty much forced to beg for donations after each sale, and if you don't you will be written up, total bs.

I am 32 years of age have worked since I to was 16. I heard people complain about working for Dollar General and honestly I thought, they were baby's and didn't have the experience to work there. After working 1 week I apologize to anyone I thought that about. It is a freakin joke working for them. Where I worked there were only allowed 2 people to work at a time. Non management people have to do everything...and I mean everything but paperwork and deposits. I had to put up roll carts, watch for theft, mop floors, clean bathrooms, move roll carts and set up outside, front shelves, recoveryand that was all while waiting on ALL CUSTOMERS. I thought it was just the store I worked for but, after talking to people from the other 5 local stores that is the way they are all ran in the area. You get min, wage to work your tail off and be treated as a theif and a no body. With out there employees they would have no store's. This is the worst job I have ever had! I will no longer shop at ANY Dollar general, they will no longer get my money and I just recently quit. You know they have alot of merchandise walking out the doors but I guarantee its not the employees its the customers because the cashiers are running around with way to much to do and can not greet the customers properly or actually spend any time watching them.

I also work for dg and agree with all your complaints. The company is ridiculously overzealous in their pursuit of catching employees breaking company policy. The fact that we cannot even purchase a soda in the middle of a shift without clocking out is absurd. If corporate spent half the effort they put forth watching employees work into building a solid relationship with over worked underpaid loyal emploees things would run alot smoother. People get tired of working their tails off for an unappreciative company that treats us all like thieves

Sounds like you should have looked into company policies a little more before you hired on. My guess is that you have no where near the experience the people that work there have or you would understand the DG policies when it comes to protecting their inventory. Most retail corporations have the same sort of policies to protect their assets. Typically employees that complain about these type of policies are the ones that have something to hide... the product they are walking out the door with. I live in Crete and know that some of those ladies have been there since the store opened - nearly 10 years ago. Therefore your complaints that you have more experience is simply ridiculous. My guess is they were in retail before you got out of diapers. The problem is you are 22 and have yet to grasp the ins and outs of running a retail operation. Grow up.

Dollar General new management

when i first started things were great except we had no manager and worked 10 days in a row with only 1 day off but was getting close to 40 hrs a week and everyone working there was happy and we all got along. Then they brought a new manager into the store. Hes very lazy and I believe not a very honest person. He wanted to take some of the pressure of working 10 days in a row and give us 2 days a wk off so he brought in his best friends daughter in to work part time. Then all of a sudden he started cutting my hours and i have to work 30 hrs a wk to get insurance and thats the reason i took the job at min wage is for the ins. The new girl wasnt even there 2 wks and already called off and he wanted me to stay and work her hrs and i told him no because he cut my hrs because of her and he told me he wasnt done cutting my hrs. The job is getting very stressful and uncomfortable to go to. The bad thing is is no one seems to care except me because i will no longer have ins. I may have to quit and go elsewhere because they do not treat their employees very well.

I purchased this cat food from the Dollar General in Turbeville, SC. I'm having to dump this cat food out of my cats bowl on a daily basis due to it crumbling to dust when my cats try to eat it. I'm highly disappointed that this is even on the shelves. I usually buy better cat food, but was on a tight budget this go around. It was a complete waste of my money. I had to dish out more money to get another bag of food. Will never buy this again and wish I could get my money back.

I shop the Urbana Ohio store on a regular basis, at least 2-3 times a week., Today I asked a girl that was stocking shelves the price of a can of apples that were not marked, she said she had no idea what the price was, and turned back around and went on doing what she was doing. She didn't offer to go check the price or anything. When I was checking out I mentioned this to the checkout girl and she said that's our new manager, I said seriously, she was rude and not at all concerned about the customers. May be a long time before I go back. Today is October 27, 2017. In my opinion this person is not a good fit for your store.

WOW. You wanna see a drama show? Come to Vandalia, IL Dollar General. Soap Opera plus starring the Mgr, and her grandbabys mama lead cashier...boy, dont this take the cake. Control freak refusing and threatening NOT to give breaks (illegal as I'll get out), claims to forget employee breaks, refuses to stock bags for consumer products? That really floors me...we want customers, but no bags to their purchases in? What a joke! What a freak show this store is!

We have 3 dollar generals in our city. I live closest to the one on N. Fifth st. I went there last night to purchase a few items and couldn't believe the shape of the store. This was not the first time. I couldn't even get through the ailses because of carts with product in them and ladders and such. Another time I was in there and someone had vomited in a mop bucket and it was left on the shelf. That store is in deplorable condition. I told the manager what I thought and he said he just started one month prior. There is no call for that kind of filth in a public store. I hope something gets done abou it.

I was wondering when Dollar General became the Local Wal-mart. Prices are just as high as going to Wal-Mart and sometimes even higher. The price of a 14ounce drink is $1.65. Wow, ya no, i think I will take my business elsewhere. I walked to the check out counter ans waited over 5 minutes, before I had to go find an employee, who then never said, Hello or how are you. Very rude and disorganized store. I will continue shopping at Wal-Mart where the prices are ALOT CHEAPER.

The employee yelled out the store ### and when I confronted him he thought it was funny. I asked him for the manager he told me to get him myself. When the manager came out and I confronted him he told me that his employee is mad because his replacement is always late. I wanted him to confront the employee, but he said he was on a time schedule to worry about the milk delivery and he was going home soon. I kept asking him to confront the young man. But instead was told to leave and not come back into the store. I was kicked out for telling the employee and manager Keith to handle it.

My husband and I was sitting in the parking lot of this dollar general store in muskogee, ok and one of the employees walked up to the door and pulled her pants down. While I was shopping she constantly had her phone in her hand and was standing around doing absolutely nothing but texting on her phone. Her dress code was in violation as she had her shirt pulled above her navel and has piercings and tattoos showing all over her torso area. Very bad business. Will not be back.

Dollar General was refused job application because in college

My 21 year old daughter went in for a job application and the manager asked how old she was and if she was in college and when she relpied yes, she refused her the application saying she can hire a college student. i thought that was rediculous! my daughter only will be going to school 2 hours aday. they can at least give her a try! i worked at a dollar general of few years ago my self and quit because the manager was a complete idiot. she was a bad manager didn't know what she was doing. when i first started working there she said i'd be givin a couple cart full of merchandice to put away during my shift, ok, she said anything that was in my cart that was to be put towards back of store i should give to the other employee to put away because i need to be up from always watching the counter to check people out, ok, i fully agree with that, about a month later i went to give the other girl an item to put in back and the manager very rudly said for me to go ahead and just put it away even if it goes in the back to not give it to the other girl from now on, then i get yelled at for being in the back putting this stuff away (i can see what s going on in the front when im having to put stuff away in the back) and not being up from when customers are wanting to check out.. and at this location there is constantly customers in it... my thoughts are, hire 1 person to be at registar at all times, and 1 person to stock! its not fair to expect the cashier to be at reg and be in back putting things away at such a busy location!

First of all, they can't refuse anyone to fill out an application...regardless of whether they are hired or not they CAN fill one out.
Secondly, they are NOT allowed to ask a persons age! The only thing they can ask is whether someone is over the age of 18.
Last, I totally agree with what you are saying about running the register and expected to put up merchandise. I just quit my Assistant Manager position a week or so ago because of issues in my store. You know why they don't have a stocker, cashier and manager at the same time? If they hired more people, the District Manager doesn't get as big of a bonus...save payroll but make sure the store is model condition. The issues in my store forced me to quit and go to the NAACP. I am white but the issues going on in this store...OMG!
At least 90% of the managers are incompetent. They push all the work on everyone else and they just look busy. My manager was prime example. The stories I could tell about Dollar General...
FYI don't complain to anyone...you will lose your job.

Dollar General unproffessional management

I have been working here for 2 months and the management is poor. They have this one manager ms. Julie who has no people skills and is extremely rude to everyone. She mumbles when shes talks and acts like you are bothering her for everthing! Please for the love of god never get a job at dollar general, works not supposed to be fun but working here is is hell. Its not even the treatment of employees, but, the amount of hours they give u which is ridiculous average 10-12. How do expect a family to survive on that kind of salary. The managers are very greedy and are taking all the hours for themselves becasue if they would just allow all of the employees to vois items and do returns then there would be no need for them to just walk around anyway and act like they are working and getting health benefits. They are so ###ing lazy,. Wow it must be so great being a manager of a dollar store and to still be a cashier and stocker. Thats why hate all the younger employees becasue they see hw much oppurtunity they have left to actually do something with their life istead of waiting around in a tacky dollar store to be promoted. Time to go to college u dont have to be a brain surgeon to be a simple manager low life dollar store!

The dollar general store "manager" in 2727 Edenborn at Metairie is a rude woman she needs to do her job right instead of talking on her cell phone, and help customer out I always buy at this store but after her attitude with my 4 years old daughter for touching a toy never ever to buy here again, she should put sign on every shelves that says"do not touch anything "very unprofessional woman, not good manners at all.Get off that phone lady and stop telling people your business, customer do not need to know all that and be professional and get your nasty attitude right.

I was an assistant manager for Dollar General, and just had an experience with the cash registers rebooting themselves, I called the store manager, and she kept asking me what is going on, of course, I ended up calling tech support, which did not help at all, The store manager said she was too far from the store to come in and take care of the problem, It's her store and her responsibility... This was so stressful that I had to resign. I'm now suing the store manager and the company for lost wages, because of this incident and never being trained on how to handle this situation.

The following day after I resigned, the store manager sent me a text, that said I wasn't responsible enough to handle the situation, of course dip ### I wasn't trained, how much more of friggin ### can you be.

Your a solid gold idiot. The Store Manager is the only one who makes the schedule and they don't want the hours they work because they are on salary you ###. That means they don't get paid for all the extra hours they work doing your job and that of 6 other people because their staff is too lazy to do what they are supposed to be doing. And it's not up to management to let cashiers do voids or anything of that sort because the majority of you people would steal and pocket money left and right. In retail 70% of all theft is INTERNAL, this is why we trust our employees less than we do the customers.

Dollar General lock the doors

Last evening I was going to DG and it was 7:51PM. Thank god it was an hour before closing. Got to the store, ran to the door and it was locked. Then I realized that the employees were sitting inside the window laughing. Looked around on windows to see if there was a special message and nothing. RAn back to the car as I knew I could make it to Pamida. Then I noticed the guy putting a sign about 3"x5" on door. Anyway, went to Pamida and was telling of my experience and Sharon, the Pamida clerk had told me of others who came in an hour before me, telling the same story. NOw had they been sitting outside smoking as they always are, they could have kept us informed/ They could have even swept their cigarette butts off the city sidwalk. Poor management here folks.

It is not their job to sweep cigarette butts off the city sidewalk. That is the up to the city to maintain the sidewalks. From the sidewalk to the curb is city property. You should quit being Algorish of the situation. Were talking about cigarette butts not a freaking bomb. As a rule of thumb, I try not to get their during the last hour of business. The registers could have had problems, had a situation, or had to close early for inventory. Now if I were treated disrespectfully while inside dollar general I would let it be known, call for a manager, and follow the chain of command if appropriate. Though I have a current beef with Dollar General about management and customer service that went unanswered, yours seems quite frivolous. As far as laughing at you, well did you demand to come in there, despite the doors were locked? and wait there. I have seen that happen firsthand at Hollywood Video, but come on it is not life or death here. Go to another location or somewhere else. Nitpicking will get you nowhere.

Dollar General - way they treat employees

I have family that work at Dollar General. They were full time employees, had health insurance, life insurance, etc. That is until a area manager decided that some employees needed to be listed as parttime. NOW no one said anything to employee about this being changed! A call to insurance company about finding a new doctor, only to be told that YOU HAVE NO...

Dollar General management and the drama

I've been with dollar general for almost 2 months now and the store I work at is simply bad. The 3rd key has been there longer than I have and this guy is literally taking a beating. The assitant manager and one of the other cashiers have made plans to have him fired because they don't like him. Going so far as going behind him and messing things up, placing stickers for sales back up after he's taken them down (He got in trouble once because he forgot some, so he was told to make sure they were down by the store manager) , plus the assitant manager is going around to other stores telling them he was sent home early, when in fact the very same store she told it too called later and found out that was a lie. When in fact the assitant manager just sits on her fat ### all night and does nothing, and when she does work she takes so long to do it. We don't get out of the store til after 10. Plus who in the hell made her an assitant manager? She is dumb as rocks, just yells at people and treats them like dirt, and really has no idea what is going on half the time.

The manager wont do anything but put bandaids on the issue and hopes they will even out. But every time I work with him, you can see what their doing to him is taking a toll on him. Only reason why he's still there is because he needs the job while looking for another one.

The 3rd key is tried to fight back but it always looks like he's just getting back at the assistant manager. Even though he is stating the truth and actual facts. I want to help the guy he is a really good guy and truly tries to take care of the customers and the employees. I won't blame him one bit when he leaves.

I was so excited I got a job at our new Copemish Michagan Dollar General, worked 10 to 13 hours a day to get the store open. Did not have a day off for 11 days straight, I was one of the few that did not take off early, figured I was the assistant manager as I was told that was what I was being hired in as even went as far as to quit my full time job else where cause I was told I was gauranteed this job! I figured I should put in the extra hours, with my position and all! Then we got the store open and was in my position for a full three days when my manager asked me, some other workers say your not happy I am going to make Kelly assitant Manager and offering you third key! I replied I quit my full time job after being offered the position with dollar general she agreed(Manager) the ones who told her this is a click and was made up. Then after being told my pay would reflect my full time pay on Febuary 19 and on $8.25 an hour I never recieved that then told everyone had to be temps for thirty days before making permanent pay. Believed all never should have the same day I was given a card saying how much she appriciated my hard work she then walked in and told me I was fired, because three people the same people this manager said where a "CLICK" said I freaked out the day before, never happened just told third key I needed her to stay on register because our delivery truck was just about there, her and the other worker was going to be leaving soon I had to get the new employee register counted out and get him done so he could run the register seeings how I was going to be busy signing in truck delivery first we had from corporate since opening no training but was told I did it right! Please I am Shocked never have been fired from any job exellent work record last job was 10 years, told how wonderful I did! When we were opening store Nick a very nice person from Ohio who set up our store was treated like an idiot all was told not to do what he told you we were all told he put all of us down. I told him once he was gone I was going to be made bad guy he tried his best had no help from all including and especially Manager. District Manager worked with me one day and told me he felt like she made the right choice for ###. manager(Kyle) would love to tell you whats going on Kelly bringing her kids to work, Annette telling you she was bring the keys the night I could not lock the stock room door cause I had no key, it was not her it was her daughters boyfriend who had her store keys that was bring them in for us to lock the back door she did not have possession of her own keys. Scared me Please notify Kyle District Manager of the North Western Michigan Dollar General stores. I watched her sraight out lie to you. Not only that but I also watched her take Money out of her pocket and put it in to help the store balance out for the day! It is very scary that they are letting these kinda people run the Dollar Generals. I would never work with that crew again all kinds of rules broke. It will not take long for her lies to put her in a spot, they always catch up to people!

The circumstances that you describe are not only going on at Dollar General Stores. When the company sees you as a liability instead of a asset, they will try any means necessary to get you off the payroll. My health has declined over the 25 years that I worked at this company in Memphis, Tennessee. I truly gave 110% to my job wnenever I hit the door. I was there on the job when no one else was there. I accumilated several thousand hours of sick time. Now that I'm sick and have to go to the doctor the company (Memphis City Schools) does not want me to use any sick time. They actually would prefer that I quit and go out without full retirement. This would same them some money, my retirement money that I had worked so hard for all of these years. I was off work going to an orthopedic specialist for health conditions that came about because I was always on the job. When I returned to work with my doctors statement, I was written up for being out sick so many days. My best advice to you is to go to your labor union or file a complaint with the EEOC.

Dollar General rude employee / pricing errors

Dollar general Store In Armuchee GA. ha a red headed employee who complains always/makes customers wait. Register charges the wrong price and price is marked incorrectly as i check thoroughly. This pony tailed red head with an attitude keeps me waiting and i have actually had to find her to check out actually charged the wrong price for curtains again and told me how they make change for a hundred like i care because i handled cash all my life with no mistakes. Correct the register prices. prices listed and this steady complaing rude red head who acts like she is dying due to work. She is rude and the manager is in the back busy & this rude person put me in an empty line while calling the manager to refund the money she over charged me. This person has been at this Armuchee Ga. Dollar General store a while & should know the ropes by now.I assume she is a mental health release who is employed for tax deductions or discrimination policies.Any how she has long orangish red hair kept in a ponytail at the armuchee store in GA. on Martha berry Hwy. with a strong southern accent. You can't miss her. I should feel good after shopping instead of upset by being insulted by a discount store employee.Know i know why folks pay more just to have civil people wait on them and receive customer service.I don't expect anything will be done about this rude employees behavior or about the prices marked or the register errors so i will shop else where.Sincerely Karen Woods

Actually there are several instances of pet food having salmonella. Since my son has been sick from it for 5 days now I've been doing alot of Further research brushing up on the subject an d you might want to have them checked. And to stealth you posted on th BK post that smonella is only in chicken when in fact you are wrong. Salmonella can come from a leaky roof with bird droppings in the water then get in or on anything snd contaminate it... It can come from feces if people don't wash their hands, it can come from 100 different things other than just chicken. Do your research before you post on serious matters.
