Dollar General the store in general!

The store is a mess! It has been for sometime now and for a short time (very short) it slightly improved. There is no product on the shelves (I have pictures), carts with containers containing stock sitting throughout the aisles in the store posing a fire hazard (again I have pictures). It seems the product is put out on the shelves but the many empty shelves remain. There hasnt been batteries or medicine supply for months! Limited dog food selection, cat litter, detergent, light bulbs, vehicle oil and so on and so forth. The Family Dollar just a mile away always has plenty of most every product but for alot of people it is less convenient and closes earlier. At this point DG is inconvenient since you go for a few things and the store only has one of what you need. I have worked retail before and this would not be tolerated! I see complaints on fb all the time about our local DG. I work a full time job 5 days a week and have entertained the thought of applying to just show the emoloyees there how to get stuff done. But I cannot fully blame them as their higher ups hold just as much responsibility in this matter. Its a shame this store is in such a shape. I would appreciate a follow up phone call as to how this matter will be addressed. Thank you.

Dollar General manager

We have recently had a store open in our small town and we're very excited about it. It is the only grocery store for 20 miles and has really benefitted our small town. However, your manager Jenny Fisher is something to be desired. Everytime I drive by or go to the store she is outside smoking. She openly complains about employees to customers. I am good friends with a couple of the people working there and she treats tham like crap. She only does her schedules a week at a time and then changes it numerous times during that week. She is always complaining about something. Vendors, employees, other managers. She has already had a huge turn around of employees quitting and our store has only been open a couple months. She is going to ruin our new store in our nice little town if something is not done. Employees are to scared to say anything because there is rumor she accused employees at other DG stores of stealing to get them fired. Something needs to be said before she runs off more good employees and keeps hiring her lazy trashy friends to work there.

Dollar General employees acting annoyed when a customer has a problem at the checkout with their digital and in-store discounts.

This complaint is for store number 14369 in log cabin Texas on Saturday June 24th between 9 p.m. and 10 p.m. when they close I was the last customer. The complaint is on a Whitney and Hannah which were the two employees working. I arrived at the store around 9:15 and planned on buying 12 cases of water and a few other things. I reach the counter approximately 9:40 and started my transaction after completing it I noticed that my store coupons and the 5 off 25 and the $3 off survey we're not coming off correctly. Hannah informed me that I had to have a total of $25 after the $4 credit for my 8 cases of water came off. So we added a few more items to my transaction to bring my total back up to $25. Once again she scanned my 5 off 25 and my $3 off survey and the register showed it accepted both . but it only deducted the $3 survey not the 5 off 25. Hannah tried three or four times to make it work but she became more confused with each attempt . finally we decided to void the whole transaction and let the people in line behind me go ahead and check out making me the last customer. Once again Hannah range up my waters and additional items and again scanned my 2nd
5 off 25 and $3 off survey coupons then digital to bring my balance down. And once again it did not take off all my discounts. Hannah tried again to figure it out and again failed making this the second time my transaction was voided, and a second time I lost 8 more dollars. The 3 off for survey and 5 off 25 coupons. They say third time's a charm, but not in this case.
Becoming irritated because it's almost 10 p.m. closing time and there's still a customer at the register Whitney whom I'm assuming is a key holder comes up to the register with a very irritated look on her face and asked what was the problem. Hannah tried to explain it but she was Clueless what to say. So I explain to Whitney (the irritated employ) about my survey and 5 off 25 coupon not coming off my balance. so we decided to give it a third try with Whitney there until I realized I had no more 5 off 25 coupons in my app or on my receipts for June 24th. So Whitney pretty much decided since I had no more receipts with the date on it I just wouldn't get the credit not caring that the reason I don't have the credit was because of the her cashier having to void my transaction 2 times. Needing these 12 cases of water before 6 a.m. for my boss I needed this issue fix to credit me all my discounts that Dollar General advertises in the store and on the app. I could not leave empty-handed.
Impatient at my persistence to figure out the problem with my discounts not attaching and me looking through my dozen receipts for a 5 off 25 for June 24th because the 2 previous transactions that were voided, wasted 2 of my 5 off 25 and 2 $3 off survey coupons. Whitney realizing Im NOT going to give in and just pay the receipt total that was $8-$10 over what it should be she finally found a 5 off 25 coupon for June 24th somewhere behind the counter that she let me use. but the $3 survey coupon that i used was my last one I had.
Need I tell you how this 3rd transaction turned out? Well let's just say void number three!
After all that time I ended up walking out empty handed, with no water for my boss. And to add insult to injury it cost me a total of $19! Two of my $5 off 25 coupons and my only three survey coupons for $3 off each one!
I can't help but think maybe if when I walked in to the store at 9:10 if you're two employees we're not standing at the register chit-chatting with three or four of their friends on the other side of the counter giggling and laughing they could have focused on helping me and together figuring out what the problem was and seeing what we could do to correct it. And they would have a happy customer and get a good report from the survey I did.
I shop at Dollar General every single day if not two to three stores a day because I coupon. this by far is one of the worst experiences I have had as a customer of Dollar General not to mention it cost me $19... !

Dollar General employee named amanda I believe

I shopped your store on Garden Street for 5 years then sold our home and have shopped your Harrison Street store for the past 6 months where I bought a new home. My wife and I shopped your store and my wife likes to look so I go off on my own she had a shopping bag that she uses and when we are ready she puts her items in my basket then we check out and anything we decided we don't want she puts back. On 6/24/17 around 11am or thereabout she put her items in my cart and proceeded over to your frozen section and was putting back some corn dogs and was about to put back a few other items when your employee walked up to her and not in a soft tone but very loudly called my wife a thief and grabbed her bag of course my wife grabbed it back dumped the remaining items in the cart as your employee continued to berate her and said she was being trespassed from your store. Never once did my wife try to exit your store or at any time try to bypass your cashier and if its a matter of your company not wanting shopping bags being used that she purchased from another store not Dollar General then this should be posted. My wife is a registered nurse and I was a Retail District Manager and Director of retail operations for a large company and had this come to my attention I would immediately terminate this employee. There was no time whatsoever and this can all be verified on your store cameras that my wife tried to exit your store and she was humiliated by your employee. I don't normally complain about a situation but this was so uncalled for. My wife certainly would not risk her nursing license for $15.00 to $20.00 worth of merchandise. I have never been so embarrassed as your company made us feel and you have lost not a good but a great loyal customer forever. There are way too many people looking for jobs to have an employee such as this employed with your company and there are certainly many retailer choices that we drive by everyday to shop with Dollar General and we did just that drove over to Winn Dixie where I have shopped for years then proceeded to Family Dollar and purchased the items we didn't get with Dollar General and I can tell you I will never step back inside a Dollar General and I'm sure that my wife will let some of her patients know and I certainly will. I expect to be treated with respect had my wife exited your store or tried I would not be upset but because she was attacked by your employee in the grocery section of your store I find that very troubling and disturbing. I don't care what you do because I wont be back but I certainly think this employee if in Management should be retrained and certainly demoted and again if she worked in one of my stores she would Terminated at the earliest possible date. One more note the Store Manager was present and he use to work at your Garden Street store and you moved him to your Harrison store when you built it and he didn't even bother to come out and [censor] the situation but when you don't need business I guess you can afford to run off Professional honest working people. Sad very Sad.

Dollar General coupon program

[protected]@gmail.com
06/24/2017
10:47am
Store # 12105
Refund requested
The coupon program for Dollar General is not working properly. I had a 3/$15 and a 5/$25 Digital coupon attached to my phone number of [protected]. I bought $31 worth of stuff and put in my phone number. I got 3/$15 instead of 5/$25 which mens i did not have to buy $25. I wanted to void it, go get my phone and remove the 3/$15 from my account. The cashier told me it would not let me use the same coupon again. So we voided the order, with people behind me in line and rerang the order. Same scenario. I checked out and came home to let you know how unhappy I am with your coupon program. I dont like wasting my VALUABLE time. I took the time to sign up for digital coupons, take the time to view emails and select the coupons I want, make a list all week of items
I could use and wait until sat to go to my local Dollar General to use my 5/$25 coupon for it not to work. Along with the fact that now I am upset. My total order was $21.60 and I am requesting a full refund based on wasting my time.

Dollar General employment

This happened on June 23/2017 in your Irwin, Pa store.
I am attempting to lodge a complaint about one of your managers at the Irwin store. I was working this evening and every time I asked her to come up and do something that is a manager's job, she gave me attitude, acting like it was a giant hassle to do her job.
I called her twice for assistance in ringing out customers and she didn't reply, then finally came back over the intercom asking what I wanted. I said in a louder tone of voice since I thought she hadn't heard me the first time, "Can you please come help me ring up customers, please?" She responded by yelling at me over the intercom, so the entire line of customers could hear what she was saying, saying that I had a lot of attitude and to just can it.
I have never been so mortified in my life. All the customers in my line looked shocked and told me that I absolutely didn't have any attitude and to just hang in there.
After she came up, she rang up two customers and went back to the rear of the store, still leaving me with a line. After I finally finished the line, I went to the back to speak to her, with the intention of asking for an apology.
She again yelled at me, saying that I had attitude all night. I told her that under no circumstances did I deserve to be yelled at in front of a big crowd of people, but she again insisted that I had attitude.
So I felt I had no choice but to quit on the spot and walk out.
I was treated extremely unfairly and I want you to be aware that this is the kind of management that you have in your stores.

Dollar General service of how demeaning the employees of a different race get treated

Store number 07395
Managed by Tracy
Located in Loxley Al
On hwy 59
The only word I can think of is discrimination the employees are not fairly treated. Some get more respect than others. The smokers get extra breaks while the nonsmokers work until there lunch break (4-6 hours later). The work that other employees don't want to do is waiting for the next shift to come in

Dollar General customer service

I was in your Dollar General in Dowagiac Michigan on 6/22/17 at approximately 2 pm. I didnt realize that there is a time limit you are allowed to be in the store. If there hadnt been boxes and carts and garbage all over the floor and aisles I probably could of got my stuff and got out but no. I was in looking around for about half an hour when your employees decided I must be stealing from you. They had three employees following me around and talking very nasty about me like I couldnt hear them. they proceeded to call me a stupid Bit**. I was doing nothing wrong but looking around. The aisles were packed with boxes and your shelves were empty. They were talking about customers out loud with other customers and amongst themselves it was very disrespectful. not to mention they had a bunch of friends in there while working. I asked them if they would like to go thru my purse before I left. I left my cart sitting there I will not be treated the way they felt was appropriate. I would think their time would of been better spent if they had been filling shelves with merchandise instead of talking about people and being rude. I will not shop at that store or any for some time. I spend a lot in your stores being that that is the only store like that we have in my town in Marcellus Michigan. I hope that you can address this and stop it from happening anymore.

I was shopping in your store and I had no idea there was a time limit on how long you can be in store. I was harassed by three workers they followed me the whole entire time I was in the store and kept talking and calling names, [censor] being one of them. They kept saying really rude stuff. I was doing nothing wrong and I shop at your stores a lot, this store was disgusting dirty they were all standing around talking crap about customers and the aisles were filled with boxes Noone working on those boxes. I just think it's great you pay employees to harass customers and stand around doing nothing. Your shelves are bare. I'm so offended I may just stop shopping at your stores and I'm writing about this to let my friends know as well.

Dollar General employee-cynthia mercer

On Saturday, June 17, 2017, a family member of mine went into the store in Linden, TN at approximately 8:45 AM. Cynthia Mercer was the employee to check him out and began making slanderous remarks about myself and at one point threatened me to him. I am filing this complaint because this is not the first time she has done this on Dollar General time and I believe it to be highly unprofessional of your employee to make such slanderous remarks and threaten someone while on your time and in front of other customers.

Dollar General customer service cleanliness and management

So yesterday I went to Dollar general off of 23rd Street in Independence MO and as I pulled in the trash outside was everywhere I went in there were 3 employees up front yet 1 register open and probably 15 people in line so I went about my shopping fighting my way past all the carts loaded down with boxes of items to stock since there was nothing on shelves as the 3 employees were still up front arguing about who was going on break finally I had maybe 4 things in my cart and had located amongst the boxes the laundry soap I initially went in for so I made my way back to the line as Doug watched me fighting past the carts with bleach and dog food and human food all on top of each other he by the way never offered to help move any so finally after 15 minutes of standing in line I ask the cashier if they offer rain checks or if they can help get the laundry soap that remind you I had located the box in all the boxes and carts he rudely tells me no they won't do rain checks that there are no such things and tells me the manager Doug is right there but he won't do anything I ask him to bring Doug up here so I can ask him about getting the product off the card he sighs and tells me I guess Doug proceeded to tell me about how they short handed and it's a hit or miss if items are stocked and if not then continue to come back daily to see if the item is there and if I miss a sale to bad basically so I tell him I had located the item I wanted he tells me that he has to stock in a certain order per corporate standards and once again telling me that I needed to come back the next day I tell him no I don't plan on making double trips he then tells me that I probably wouldn't get it there then so I tell him that's fine and leave everything there I will no longer patronize a dollar general I will take my business to Target or God forbid Walmart

Dollar General true living hose

I purchased a hose on June 15th 2017 at the Dollar General on 7525 Wornall in Kansas City Mo.I brought the hose home, hooked it up turned it on, it immediately started kinking everywhere and blew a hole in it.I never even used the hose.I shut it off, rolled it up and put it on my porch.I was gone for the next few days, but returned it to the store I purchased it at.I waited in line, then waited again while the cashier helped other customers first. She had to call her manager as they were not in the store or coming into the store. She then told me the manager said they don't take the hoses back unless it was damaged at the store.First of all how would they know or me if it was already damaged as the hose was wrapped up.There was also no sign saying no return or refunds on hoses. If the hose just kinked I would not have returned it, but it was not usable. The total on this item was 15.00 plus 1.35 tax. This is not a huge investment, but no hose, no money.I want a full refund

Dollar General cud

Hello, my child and I was in one of the Dollar General in N.Charleston, SC store # 14281. Which I am a former employee. When walk in all you can hear is 3 supposedly grown women, yelling across the store at each other using cuss words. This was the a blonde hair girl, other women and the SM. The SM is laughing and other employees are following. My child is 8 yr old autism who doesn't not need to learn this behavior from adults. Then I go to SM and ask a question about prices and what percentage was red, purple. She rolled her eyes and said I can't tell you cuz I dont have time to let people know. I walked off and ok. By this time I have been in the store for about 45 mins and heard bad words and employees acting like wild animals. Shortly after that I go up front and ask for the bathroom key and the cashier hands me the men' s room key. WOW. I couldn't do anything but to hurry up shopping and get out.
When I was there my bosses wouldn't let that fly.
As I'm walking to the front, I hear from one of the women just go off on this customer. The gentlemen turns his head and realized that I was in the store, he looked at me and asked when I am coming back cuz he doesn't like going in the store anymore. I told him to call Corp. I start putting items up to cash out and I ask if I can have price check on a few items. I wouldn't have to ask for a price check if signs and dots or stars were there. Then I guess she is the ASM, she says what are you a penny shopper. I said yes I have done it a few times. She walks around to my side of the counter. I hand the college t-shirt to the cashier cuz I had one star and dot I wanted to know the difference in price. She walks up to close and has a mean tone and acting like she is going to fight me. I grab my and walk him and myself out to my car. She the proceeds to follow my child to the car. She yells into the store at everyone I'm calling the police and started to come toward my car. Now I worried for my child safety and mine. My child says mom wait I need to pay for my soda. Instead of me going back in and making things worst I tell him to go.

I have called my lawyer a few minutes after I left the parking lot.

This took place on June 20, 2017 roughly around 8:30 - 8:45 p.m

Dollar General non caring staff

This store has been newly remodeled. With in a week this store has fallen to the Non Caring Staff, with rolling carts full of merchandise blocking every aisle. If an employee has time to go right outside the front door and smoke, they could have put out some merchandise and clean up their store.
This location is supposed to open at 8:00AM. On three different occasions I have waited in the parking lot until 8:10 to 8:15AM for an employee to show up, to open the store.
I wish someone from their Corporate Office would visit and see this store so recently after a COSTLY REMODEL!

Dollar General no redbox at our dg store!!

I have asked the manager of our local DG store to get a Redbox.. The DG in the town 9 miles north of us has one... Why can't we have one? I've suggested it to him numerous times and he always tells me that he's "working on it!" Just a day ago, I once again asked him where the Redbox was and he replied..."At the manufacturer, I guess." I didn't need that smart answer!

Dollar General manager

on the 19th of June, I went to purchase tea from store 560 in Meridian Mississippi. I noticed that the price was different from that of the wall. When I said something, the shift manager had nothing to do with the sale, jumped in and started to get, what I know to be upset, she told me that sale was over yesterday. I asked don t it need to be changed for the sake of the customer?, she waved her hands at me and went to another employees and stated, like I was saying. When I asked where was the manager, she ran back up in my face and said here i am. I asked her name and her superiors name and she refused. I don't know if you are aware, but your stores have a bad reputation for attitudes with customers. I hear it a lot, but to experience it from your management staff assures me that people are not lying.

Dollar General customer service

DG # 08990 in Leland, Nc. The manager at this location is so tacky and unprofessional. I can't remember a time that I have gone into the store where she is not yelling for people or being loud. It's embarrassing as a manager myself that she acts like she does. The store always looks like crap. Today I went in to pick something up and the line was 7+ deep. The guest behind me was returning kiddy pools that she had purchased earlier. The manager was ringing up another customer starts yelling back to the lady about the pools and the customer said they were the wrong size. Manager basically rolled her eyes. So my question to you is "why couldn't she wait til the guest got up to the register. She had everyone turning around looking at the poor lady. Myself and the customer in front of me and behind me were talking and sharing stores about the manager. This is a small town and everyone goes here but I will drive down to Walmart instead of going here. It took so long because only one person ringing up. The customer in front aske her if they were short handed and the manager said that the other sales person was showing another sales person something. What happened to taking care of the guest and then going back to task. You really need some management in this place. Not only for professionalism but also merchandising. Could and would sell more if it is clean and merchandised properly. Bottom line you need to coach and develop her. I have seen help wanted sign on door for a while but anyone that has really gone into this location would run away and not fill out an app. She doesn't know how to talk to people. Loud and obnoxious!

Dollar General employee

I went into the store in cashiers, nc I was putting money on my debit card, when I was done the employee got rude with me. Yes we have issues, but in the store was not the place for him to confront me. I'm there doing business not there to argue with an employee. I wouldn't do it at my place of employment, I shouldn't have to have it done at his. He could have said hey can we step outside and talk.

Dollar General employee/management

Last week my family and I visited our local Dollar General Store as we did many times before. I was accompanied by my sister and our 6 kids. Granted they were not on their best behavior considering they range from ages 2 to 11 but we were there to let them pick out candy from their array of choices at a cheap price. We then proceeded to the toy section cause I wanted to buy a few things for our treasure box at home for when my kids are good for the day. We were followed by the manager to the isle were he stayed the entire time and stood next to us pretending to "sort" through toys as if to keep an eye on us to see if we would steal something. This isle was not big at all considering this is a very small DG and at times he was right in our way and when my sister asked him were something was that we could not locate he completely ignored her. I was shocked at his blatant behavior and assumption of us. I looked at my sister wide eyed as at one point he got right in the way of her daughter to put something on the top shelf! We started walking towards the front to check out and no sooner that we got out of the isle he was right behind us. NO JOKE and proceeded to HIDE behind the other register opposite of where we were checking out to make sure we were buying all that we had picked up. I have been to this store numerous times in the three and a half years that I have lived in this town and this is the first time this as happened to me. Even though its been over a week ago I still cant seem to go back. If I were to bring all my four children in would I be targeted as someone that would steal? I get keeping an eye out for those that seem suspicious but he could have done it in a more professional way. Not once did he ask if he could help us find something or handle himself appropriately.

Dollar General store messiness

Store #12337 in Pelzer SC used to be my favorite store but management recently changed and the store is a mess. Every time I go in there they have pallets of merchandise at the end of every aisle and sometimes it's difficult to even get down an aisle because of it. They are usually out of something I need or it simply hasn't been put out on the shelves. Just a very unorganized and messy store. They need to change management or something. I used to go out of my way to go to this store but no more. It's a last resort.
