Dollar General jody or jodie (not sure how to spell her name) - manager at store #08960

I went to Dollar General today to pick up some groceries and the manage (Jody or Jodie) started following me around and as I'm looking at the cereal, the manage approachs another employee and says watch her and points to me. She said because I'm in the store at least 5x a week that I must be stealing stuff cause I'm a drug addict. She also started making fun of me and laughing about me with the employee. I am in the store quite often because my methadone clinic is next store and I have severe anxiety issues and do not feel comfortable waiting for my Medicaid cab with all those people around so I go to Dollar General. Also, 95% of the time I buy at one it and others I buy a bunch of items. She singled me out because I go to a methadone clinic. I am treated for chronic pain due to a genetic disorder that I have that cause my joints to dislocate. I have 8 surgeries, 3 on my heart and 3 on my back. I am very ill and in severe pain everyday. After she did this she says that she is going to be proactive to the employee and walks up to me with attitude and smirk on her face and asks me if she can help me find anything. I told her no I'm just grabbing some Frosted Flakes and Apple Jacks. At that time she points out the cereal that is in front of my face and then ask me if she can help me find anything else. I told her no and started to walk away. She wrote down everything that was in my cart at the time and continued to follow me. She singled me out and embarrassed me in front of customers and employees and made me feel terrible. I wanted to cry. She made fun of me and in a loud voice tells everyone I'm a drug addict even though I am being treated for chronic pain. I just spent 6 weeks in the hospital and have had 2 heart surgeries in 6 months. The whole store could hear and I just kept getting looks from all the employees. Do you have any idea how embarrassed I was how that made me feel. I have to go back there tomorrow and pick up the rest of what I need tomorrow but I'm afraid to go back there for fear of being humiliated again. Jody or Jodie is not management material. How could you publicly humiliate someone like that cause you think I'm going to steal. All because I go to a methadone clinic and I come into the store all the time while I wait for my Medicaid cab. I even told the weekday day manager that the reason I am in here all the time is because I'm waiting for my cab and I don't feel comfortable waiting at my clinic and he tolde it was ok. Most of the time I buy several items but sometimes I just walk around looking at what the store carries. Others time the item I'm looking for is not in stock or Dollar General doesn't carry a specific item I'm looking for. I needed cat food and they were out of stock for 2 weeks, same thing happened with the sugar. I feel she at the very least shouldn't be a manager. I'm so upset.

They're probably a high shrink store and they're doing what they have to do to protect their jobs. You say you're not a thief. If you're not, then it shouldn't have bothered you if they were doing their job.

Dollar General the registers

Please send someone to fix the registers at the dg on Malone! I see the cashiers struggling with the handheld scanners & the registers themselves are glitch. The handheld scanners come unplugged no matter how many times they are plugged back in. One register isn't up and running at all and the other two register are iffy at best. The poor cashiers are trying their best to have smooth & fast transactions but fail to do so because of dollar stores faulty equipment.

Dollar General disrespectful manager and associate

I was in the Dollar Store in Paris Texas on Bonham Street on 6/29/2018 and experienced the most disrespectful and rude behavior I have ever seen. I have an an elderly grandmother and when she asked 2 associates where something was she turned and walked away and they both ran around the corner with their heads in their shirts talking about the way she smelled. My grandmother has dogs which are her only companions and yes sometimes the smell is bad but that does not mean you act that way in front of other people especially her granddaughter. This was by far the worse customer service I have ever experienced in my entire life.

Dollar General service

I was in Memphis, TN on 6/23 and stopped at Dollar General on Third Street. The cashier asked if we were paying cash if so she can check us out at another register(the other cash register was being rebooted 🙄). She scanned my items, and I told the cashier I wanted to use my digital coupon. The young lady stated the keypad/machine was broken and unsure how to apply the coupon. So the manager came to the front and told me he wasn't able to honor my digital coupon because the keypad was broken. I politely told him the broken keypad was not my issue and being a manager he should be able to honor my $5 coupon. He raised his voice and refused to honor my $5 coupon. After that we were still going to pay for a couple of items but the cashier stated the receipt machine wasn't working and she would not be able to give us a receipt. Needless to say we did not make a purchase at this store. My rating is 1-Star because of the poor managerial service and broken equipment.

Dollar General out of date snack foods

I bought packs of Lance Toasted peanut butter crackers. This was on 6/29/2018. I got home and noticed the expiration date was April 14, 2018. I brought it to the attention of a employee on my return visit and was told that she would let the manager know.

This store is always unstocked and dirty. I have made numerous complaints through the survey but no changes or return correspondence ever.

Dollar General service at freeport il location 1645 s galena

I was visiting the store recently on my lunch hour, which I do quit frequently, and was appalled by the behavior I witnessed from two employees from prior visits I know to be manangers. It was during a busy time and after navigating my way through a store littered in products that were not yet stocked I moved to the front of the store to check out where I was treated with a line and only one employee taking customer while two other female employees congergrated next to an open register taking poorly about their other mail employee. They were not only talking exclipticty about the employees personal and professional life in detail but seemed to be plotting an idea as to ways to fire him. Working in the field of hr myself I know that professional and personal lines can be blurred but the fact that this other employees name was being slandered openly, by name I was appalled. Not only is he unable to speak for himself the fact that two women of manangement watches as a unorganized store sat with a newer employee taking customers really bothered me. I visit the store often and only can remember of one male worker who is always courteous and welcoming and tries to handle customers in the most professional manner and as a human I feel for the fact that his own management can do this . This incident has detoured me from visiting the store more that o normal do and have contemplated reporting further to the issues since this steams from the own self management. It not only effects the employees but the customers as well.

Dollar General complaint

Misty management at the Burlington, KS 66839 store and told a me, customer, that a friend as mine was a "stalker". As a customer I did not like this. Misty needs to be fired immediately. He is a good friend and he is not a stalker. I hate managements like that. He deserves an apology from Dollar General for that time and those bad management in the past. I hope you have learned not to do that again.

We will not go in Dollar general until you resolve it. Lies and lies. How much money do you lose from this. You keep losing money when it is your fault. The Lori Reid ex-management was smoking pot all the time. You lost a lot of money, that is your business. When will you start making money and not let the immature women wrong everything? A friend of mine deserves an apology.

Dollar General returning clothes with the tags on that had never even been tried on let alone worn

I was gifted 2 items of clothing from my boyfriend that I was not fond of. I returned them the following day with the tags still on them. I was told that without a receipt I could get in store credit.. There was 2 cashiers one of them said she would do it at her register...the other cashier said to her " she has worn it, its dirty"... I asked the cashier ringing me out if she really just said that and she said oh dont worry about it...after I recieved my in store credit and was headed to the door the lady said yep I sure did say it...I was shocked and embarassed and replied hatefully which she said whatever you just wanted something free after you got tired of that...for one the romper he got me was hideous I did not even try it on.. I told her she was awfully rude and she informed me to never come back in her store..

Dollar General customer service

I've been reading over all the complaints on this site and I've noticed basically two things, rude employees and lack of registers opened. I've also noticed that alot of people complain about how there's just one person working. That should be a violation of company policy right there. Suppose someone came in to rob the store. That person's safety would be jeopardized. I would think the employees safety would be a priority. Also if a store has two registers, they are supposed to be required to have at least three people working each shift, the manager on duty and two cashiers so that the customers are taken care of and the workload they have gets done. These stores need to be budgeted enough hours to have coverage. Instead of the company wasting money on useless advertising (which nobody really pays attention to) they should be spending it on getting people in these stores working. That is what makes a company money. You have to spend a little to make a little. Instead they think that one person can do it all and customers are still going to be happy. Doesn't work that way in retail.

Dollar General an associate

Hi, I live in Gautier Mississippi and I shop quite frequently at your Dollar General on Martin Bluff Road. I moved here from New York about 2 years ago and my son moved here about a month ago, unfortunately he had some trouble with my car and it has been towed to an impound yard I'm telling you this because you're Dollar General on Martin Bluff is one of the only stores I can go to at this time because it's within walking distance from where I live. This past Friday one of your Associates, Casey and her husband tried to attack my son with a two-by-four and they got into a fight the police were called and they sorted it out however your store associate Casey who also works at the local watering hole called The Rustic, which is nothing but trouble and is the armpit of the town she declared that she was going to shoot my son now this is all over something that is none of their business at all. I filed a complaint I guess to the wrong email it was for a Dollar General online that was a couple days ago but yesterday on June 27th Casey's husband ran over my son while he was riding a bike he's hurt the bike wasn't his and the cops could not find him. He was driving by my house slow appeared to be drunk. The store on Martin Bluff Road is the only store I can go to currently at this time and you have an associate there which I know you cannot control what your employees do on their own time however they still are representative of your company and I do not feel safe going into your store anymore I'm scared and I have a 4 year old. I'm sending you this in hopes that you transfer her or fire her because I hope you do I think that this is outrageous what is going on I've had to have the police here again and we will be filing charges against them. I believe they're on drugs and I think you should drug test her and whether they are or they aren't because I guess it is total speculation on my part this behavior is absolutely unacceptable. I hope you look into it so I can continue to shop there and if you don't I fear you're going to have more problems on your hands but that is not for me to decide. Thank you very much have a great day

I have to confess because they are threatening to take me to court. I made all this up. This was because I was forcuing my four year old to help me shoplift. We got caught and I blamed him and started yelling at him and hitting him. He was taken to a foster home. I was so angry at them that I posted this lies to make them look bad.

Dollar General upper management

I see a lot of complaints on service at various Dollar Generals. What a lot of customers may not know is the store managers are not given an adequate amount of hours to properly staff their store and are working an unlawful number of hours to try to keep the stores open. They are being forced by threat of being fired to keep their store open no matter what. There are laws against this and it is only a matter of time before something really serious happens. A lawsuit waiting to happen. Upper management complains and yells at employees but does nothing to improve and or help solve the problems. How can you (upper management) expect something to be done a certain way when you refuse to supply the needed items. Corporate needs to take a good long look at district managers etc, that are draining the life and soul out of employees that are working from before opening hours to after closing by order of district managers that have their head up their [censored].

Dollar General employees

The employees are very rude. They act like you are interrupting them if you ask anything or even go to the register to check out. They tell customers they can't ring them up after standing in line because they want to go to lunch etc. If you ask for a manager either you get told she's not there or she's busy. I should not have to load my kids up to drive 30 mins to town when there is a store not even 5 mins away.

Dollar General check out line time

6/27/18 - Store# 00865 - Over the past year I have been going to dollar generals around my area and every time I have had to wait in the checkout line for no less than 10 mins each time I visit. Usually it is because only one register is open and the other employees just look at the line building up and they walk right past it. Today was the straw that broke the camels back, as the expression says. I was in line for 20 mins of my 30 min lunch break. I am so fed up with these ridiculous wait times, when stores have 2 or more registers but will only open one. If you can't hire enough people to run at least 2 registers and do the other chores as well, then only put one register in the store. Until I see improvement in this aspect, I will be going else where, (family dollar, dollar tree, ect). I like the idea of dollar general and they have a great selection for these smaller towns but the wait times in the check out lines are killing anything they have going for them right now. Thanks

Dollar General customer service

Cashier named Thais at Dollar General in Berryville, AR threw the customer' s money in front of me and called him an inappropriate verbal word in front of my 6 year old. The customer hadn't said anything besides saying hey. When I told her not to use that kind of launguage when working, she rolled her eyes and me and gave me my receipt by saying "here." Dollar General horrible customer service

I was just asked to leave the Dollar General Store located at 172 NW Oldham Parkway, Lees Summit, Mo 64081 because I corrected an item price which was confirmed by another Associate named Tyler. The extremely RUDE Associate named Danielle which said she was the Manager but telephoned the Manager regarding a clearly labeled tagged price. I went to purchase three 2-pocket plastic folders which a tagged yellow price tag directly beneath the bin of where these 2-pocket plastic folders were.. When I went to check out I asked Danielle to be sure to check the price of these folders and they rang up at $1.00 each, where the regular price tag posted directly next to the sale price of 3/$1.00 read 75 cent each. Danielle asked Tyler to follow me back so that I could show him the price which he did and returned to Danielle and stated that the price was 3/$1.00 and they were in the correct bin, this is when Danielle telephoned the Store Manager. I also asked Danielle to follow me back so that I could show her the price. She refused to honor the posted price and told me to leave the store or she would call the Police.

The dollar general store located at 172 nw oldham parkway, lees summit, missouri is the utmost worst dollar general store in the united states! It is filthy, unorganized, never stocked, with isles cluttered with stock which should be on the shelves. The sales associates and managers (except for the sales associate named, barb) are the rudest, unprofessional, laziest employees in the city of lees summit. Update by Balinda Keeney
Jun 26, 2018 7:31 pm EDT

I have had this same problem of the price being different than the posted price beneath items on many, many, occasions. When I go to check out the price is always higher than the posted price located at the bins of the items. I have shopped at this store at least 3 times each week for the past three years. The store if filthy, very unorganized, and the only sales associate who is professional, kind, and helpful is a lady named, barb. All the rest of the sales associates are unfriendly, and extremely rude! I am a 60 year old lady who has owned my own business throughout my years. I have never-never-never been asked to leave any place of business in my whole life. I feel very insulted and violated. I did not nor would I ever raise my voice during this ordeal! I am filing a complaint with the better business bureau, missouri attorney general, and the lees summit city counsel. I have been a resident of lees summit, missouri for the past 30 years and I have never had been treated with such disgrace as I was this evening. I can guarantee that there is no other place of business located in lees summit, missouri which would treat a paying, consistent, customer, as I was treated at your dollar general store located at 173 nw oldham parkway lees summit, missouri. Horrible-horrible-horrible!

Dollar General dollar store management

My fiancé work for dollar general in bolivar, tn. Her store managers name is alicia vann. This is my fiancé's first job therefore she is not as knowledgeable when it comes to certain aspects of employment. Her store manager is constantly coming to her bashing other employees, she has began to cause drama with my fiancé through text, social media, and with her coworkers due to the fact that I tend to stop in 10-15 mins per visit when I get off of work myself and my fiancé is working 3pm-10pm to check if our daughter needs anything before I go home and i've never spent more than 15 mins in the store and i've always been a paying customer each visit and she said I needed to stop coming in when my fiancé works and I without staying any names made a social media status that referred to her running customers away from her store. She proceeded to comment making threats about meeting her and so forth while she was on the clock at work which she preaches that being on your cell phone at work is poor leadership but she constantly does the opposite of what she preaches as a manager. She is constantly texting my fiancé at home about what she did and didn't do at work and how to fix this and so forth, which she is promoting working off the clock when texting about job performance and work while my fiancé is not being compensated for this time and she even said she can evaluate her job performance and text her about work whether she is at home or not. She doesn't even have the knowledge to manage a store and should be re-evaluated.

Dollar General filthy store

The store is filthy. The shelving is dirty, the floor has not been mopped and there are puddles of water throughout the store. Your shoes stick to the floor where you walk. There are ants on the floor as well. The employees leave the front doors open and smoke right where customers enter the store. The aisles are cluttered with boxes and very dirty. I enjoy shopping at Dollar Generals, but I will no longer go to this store.
