I called a phone number that I thought was Spotify. When I called he told me he was a representative of Spotify. I told him I wanted to change the account my automatic payment was taken from. He told me he can take my information and asked me for my new debit card. I gave him the information and he started talking very softly and unclear. When I asked him to repeat himself I asked him what charges does he keep talking about because he kept mentioning different charges and when I asked if he was charging my card for something he told me no. I questioned him at least 4 times. He asked me to repeat my card information on a recording and I hung up. I found two pending charges for docwellid 8007571 for $9.95and one for LWAwellness sol for $4.95. I never authorized these charges

Was trying to call my doctor, I have poor hearing and the person had a heavy Indian accent. I thought maaaybe they were someone new at the doctor's office. I was trying to do a telemed so I figured I'd be having to give my card info over the phone. Against all my instincts I gave these scammers my info and luckily just my cashapp card (In the sense at least it's not directly tied to a bank account but now I have to watch when i keep money on it, based on everything I've read about them). The person totally played along, i kept asking I was just trying to confirm my appointment and how the telemed thing worked. They spoke very fast, then asked for info, I should have hung up and driven over there (which I did only AFTER my [censored] gave them the info). Like on the BBB complaints and here I have seen they've done this across the board to a ton of people, sounds like people either hard of hearing, or elderly people were the main source. As well as people calling numbers ranging from food stamps, to credit card companies, to doctor's offices. So clearly it's a hack, when googling Docwell it gave some nonsense about how it helps with legal matters for medical complaints in India!

The guy got off the phone with me very quickly after giving me some kinda ID number and any attempts to contact them have failed. I am currently trying to navigate on how to contact the Better Business Bureau. There are complaints listed against them there, but all attempts on the BBB website to look the business up directly to file an application/complaint to get refunded the 9.95, and one attempt to charge $25, which is what they regularly charge people every month.

Lesson learned, first time I was ever scammed. When remotely in doubt on the phone? Hang up! Like MANY scammers out there they hack either your phone or through some tech stuff I don't understand they somehow nab calls from a wide variety of phone numbers, ask for your card info, usually, it seems, businesses where you would think you'd have to provide your card number. Not wanting to be a racist [censored] I went along with it, I never wanna be that guy who gets instantly suspicious of someone with a heavy accent. I can't speak anything other than English and people living here who learn multiple languages have it tough enough as-is. But if someone is talking too fast for you to understand, asking for your personal info, continuously avoiding the requests you're making-say like just confirming an appointment time and asking how a Telemed works (it was my first time with that). Just hang up, worst-case you can do a little white lie and just say your call dropped, or best-case in regards to being scammed. Worst-case really, you get scammed for who knows what. All I know is within minutes, literally w hile on the phone with the guy I got the charge on my cashapp $9.95 pending.

They are not a real company, they are not here to help you, the BBB has clearly refunded it for people all over the U.S so good on them. I'll have to call the BBB locally and just hold to the advice given above, if in doubt? hang up.

I live off of less than $300 a month, am on medicaid, and am couch-hopping so technically homeless. Luckily I am getting some aid from friends and family and trying to pull my life together in a society that really...depending on the state, upward mobility is hell. Scammers are just the vultures picking at the bones of the poorest, most desperate people more often than not. Many people with far more money than myself (but still barely enough or not enough to live on) will discover "oh crap I got 5 charges of docwell on my debit/credit card over the past 5 months" I guess im lucky i picked up on it as quickly as I did because losing even that $10 was really hard on me, let alone $25. Which they usually take out between 1 am and 5 am from what I've read, and what I've seen. Right now I'm keeping all the money off my cashapp and just keeping what little $ i have on me or put into a trusted friends bank account, or my dad's. It sucks, it is what it is.

Sorry for the long post, like many I'm really upset. The money is one thing, it's the scamming nature that is truly infuriating.

One thing I can't help but think about: The people working at the Doc Wellness/Docwell call center (and likely doing several other scams there) are poor people in India, more than likely, so it's just typical money-is-your-god bringing out the worst in all of us type of behavior.

Same thing happened to me! Damn-near the exact same situation, except it sounds like you managed to avoid any charges. Curious, have you contacted the BBB (Better Business Bureau?) There are quite a few complaints listed on their website against these people. Looks like IF you do you'll likely have to contact your local BBB office, I tried to file for a refund application and get them removed from charging my card (I live off of less than $300 a month usually) so the attempted charges of $25 is a big hit for me, and probably for you, too! They tend to try and hit your cashapp between 1-5am, I just had an attempted at 1 am a few days ago, nearly a month after getting hit with the $9.95 charge. So really it's $10 I need back and more importantly, them removed. I'm sure like y ou it's a big pain in the [censored] to think "[censored] i gotta move this money from my cashapp over to another card, or pull the money out before they can get to it!"

First time I got scammed. I put my complaint/story up above, essentially I was calling my (real) doctor's office to confirm an appointment and the person totally played along, I have horrible hearing, they spoke in a heavy accent and very fast, kept playing along like they will connect me to my doctor, against every instinct I had, i didn't hang up and just go over to my doc to confirm in-person they had a new employee with a heavy accent. Not wanting to be a rude, racist person, I was TOO nice, it's one thing to be patient, another to let scammers roll-you because you're just confused, elderly, hard of hearing, desperate, all of the above, or wanting to be kind and patient.

My best advice here, and with a ny potential scam is this: 1) scammers do hack phones temporarily, or phone numbers, 2) when in doubt? hang up. Best-case is you call back and pretend the call dropped, or go to the business directly if an option to confirm, or handle it online if possible. 3) There are a TON of scams out there. I doubt you needed to know that, but it's always good to have a reminder in this day and age. It sounds like you are really struggling financially, which I 100% empathize with across the board. I wish you all the best luck in the world and hope that life is being kind to you! Peace and love!

I was trying to reach my bank to reset my password. For the last 5 months they have taken $24.90 from my checking account. I'm retired and have a payee for my bills so I don't check my account very often. How do I cancel this? Already on a fixed income and not tech savvy.
