We're pretty sure that if DirecTV showed up wayyyy more often on ComplaintsBoard and paid more attention to reviews and complaints, it would lead to better results. But for now, the resolution rate doesn't show successful interaction with customers. DirecTV 2yr contract over 5yrs ago

Over 5yrs ago i lost my job and was going through a divorce. The house had to be sold and i was working on a job that was paying any benefits. I contacted direct tv to explaine to them the problem. Now i had been with this company over 6yrs. I was told when i find a place to live they would come and hook up. The lady said you have to fininsh the contract. , how can i finish when i really don't know or have a home to leave. I have to take care of my chldren and me too. , so she said you still have to finish the contract. Really, how can i. I never had any problems until this. Now they are asking me for the money to finish the contract. How i'm going to finish it when i didn't have the money to pay. Here i'm at the age to retire and now i have this negative info on my credit report. You can't get any solution accomplish to this problem. Please tell me how to. [protected]@ yahoo.com

I am sure the contract had a clause to terminate... At the time, you should have asked what your options were... Instead, you are going to have that negative item on your credit report for 12-15 years... Try calling them and asking what you owe and set up a payment plan... Good Luck

First, turn your caps lock off, there's no reason to scream at everyone. Secondly, a contract was signed. You are responsible for paying according to the contract you entered. Pay the termination fee and be done with it. Losing one's job does not excuse you from contractual obligations.

DirecTV july 2014

I paid my direct tv bill on 6/18/2014, this was for june to july 22 or 23, I have proof on my bank account that $129.65 was paid on june 18, 2014. I got a bill for july to august (7-23-14 to 8-22-14, and on this bill, it had the $129.65 that I paid the month before added to my current bill making the total, $268.29, a late fee was charged after I paid on 6-18-14. On the bill it said services will be interupted on 8-9-14, my service was shut off 8-8-14. The bill said that current amount due is not due until [protected]. So I don't understand why I am being charged twice for june and have my service suspended and a late fee applied, when I paid on [protected]? My account paid out of my bank is the exact same amount charged for june 2014, $129.65. I called customer service and spoke briefly to a woman named monica, I was hung up on by her, then I called back and waited my turn again and spoke with a man named mark, he didn't have a clue and just said you owe it. I don't owe july payment and have documented proof. The calls were made to customer service on 8/10/14. Someone it seems is taking from peoples accounts and saying they didn't pay. This is bot good for your company. I tried to call your corporate office and was left on hold for at least 10-15 minutes with no answer. I will try to resolve this with you, but will take further action if I need to. If you did not get july payment then the $129.65 needs returned to my bank. Sincerely, sherri gibson

DirecTV money was debited from my account for someone else

Got $274..00 debited from my card on 7/1/14 due to me making a one time payment on 8/3/13 which was my mom account. hi! My name is Amanda Newton and my complaint is that Direct TV took some money out of my checking acct. by way of my debit card in which i have never given to them. The problems are how did they get my card number and why do i have to wait 8-10 days, when it maybe takes them one push of a button!?

I have unauthorized payments taken out of my debit card to Direct TV that I did not approve. Pending 7/24 and 7/25 are the dates.

DirecTV unauthorized deduction from checking account

In august 2013 I had direct tv and at&t both connected. Direct tv for television and at&t for internet and home phone. I had a one year contract with direct tv. I was told at that time that I would receive one bill and would get a discount for combining services. Ten months later (After several phone calls of complaining that I was getting 2 separate bills every month with no discount) I decided to disconnect direct tv and go with at&t u verse. I called direct tv to disconnect. When I got my final bill it had a charge of $260.00 for early cancellation fee. I deducted that amount from the bill and paid the remaining balance. Today I had $260.00 deducted from my checking account. Direct tv did not do what they said they said from the beginning. I never received my monthly discount and they charge me more money. This is highway robbery. I do not feel that I owe $260.00. If anything direct tv owes me money for tens months of not getting my discount.

DirecTV breach of contract

In june/july 2013 I moved from colorado to missouri. I initiated a call to directv to move my service. Directv indicated that as part of the move I would be receiving an upgraded receiver but that it would require another 24 month commitment. I agreed.

I then called to complain about the new receiver not having previous functionality and found that they had actually downgraded my equipment from an hr-34 to an hr-24. However, they indicated I was still obligated under my new 2 year commitment. Despite agreement from csr and tsr that I was never upgraded directv refuses to release me from the new commitment. Most recently 6/8/14 I asked that they at least send me the right receiver (The one I had before). Tiffany - 451371 cs supervisor indicated she would be happy to but that it would require an additional 2 year commitment from today's date. It makes no sense for me to downgrade my equipment in order to commit myself to an additional 2 years.

It is clear that the move order in jun/jul 2013 was in error and directv refuses to correct the problem without additional commitment. I have made multiple attempts at correcting the problem via phone calls to directv (Hours on the phone). I also have repeatedly asked for transcripts of the calls over this period to add more depth to this complaint. Directv refuses to provide any documentation or resolution to this matter.

I believe that since the additional commitment was associated with an equipment upgrade that never happened then directv is in breach of contract for its obligation to provide upgraded equipment and I am therefore I am not obligated to honor the commitment. I have ask for assistance from the missouri state attorney general, ftc, and bbb to have directv to correct the receiver upgrade error without additional commitment and terminate my current commitment with directv, allowing me to discontinue service at my discretion.

DirecTV kirk carlisle - smart circle ft. wayne, in area employing creepos

About two years ago I subscribed to Directv. The installation went well but much to my surprise the technician was flirting w me. He later on texted me praising and complimenting me about how I looked and thanking me how nice I was. I never gave it much thought. A couple of weeks ago I met someone in my area who just had a similar experience and to my greater surprise it was with the same cable guy named KIRK CARLISLE. Unfortunately, she entertained his advances and the flirting went quickly to rude sexual messages and even entertained him at her place. Soon afterwards, she found out that the cable guy is married with kids and that she was being strung along. As unfortunate as it is, she reported the cable guy to Directv who didn't care as their installation is done by a 3rd party contractor SMART CIRCLE. She complained that the phone number she provided to Directv was being used for private purposes by their employee as his advances a while after she ended it. To date, the cable guy is still working for Directv and her complaints fell on deaf ears. Now, as she is as much to be blamed I think Directv or Smart Circle should screen their employees carefully. Creepers like KIRK CARLISLE should not be entrusted into customers homes or customer information.

DirecTV illegal billing practices and fees

I had Direct TV since 2001. They charged me a
deposit of $250 back then. Yesterday I called to cancel Direct TV. They
said I'd be charged a cancellation fee, but I only had a 2 year contract
in 2001. Also, I said I wanted my $250 Deposit back.
They said no, it went towards equipment. They said I have to send in my
equipment, I said not until I get my $250 back. They said they would
withdrawal from my bank then. I said I don't allow you to do that, but
they said they can. How can they get way with this? Who can I call to get refunded and make them do the Right thing..by being honest up front.

Direct TV recently changed their terms of service agreement. I wrote them that I reject the new terms of service. After lengthy conversations they allowed me to cancel their service but believe I am still liable for the equipment lease. I contend that since this equipment is only usable with their service, I can not longer be held to that contact. Many people are or can be effected by this.

DirecTV incompatable program

Purchased product for $50. Downloaded and read "incompatible program". No Phone # to contact. Had to call Chase bank to get phone #. Service reps busy and recording asks for your email. Hyperlinks to support and customer service did not work. Refund requests thru 3rd party and very lengthy process. No satisfaction with reimbursement. Major rip-off. Get some use out of your money and at least use it as toilet paper.

purchased satellite direct tv for 3500 channels and all the channels are garbage. no movie channels, no sport channels, no entertainment channels, and no local channels like news . all channels offered are public access channels. not at all what was offered. they will not responed to my emails and will not refund my purchase.

DirecTV overcharged for receivers

I was overcharged for equipment. I had a receiver in a second bedroom which I had not used in months. I decided to cancel the receiver and was told that particular receiver had already been deactivated in 2011. I did not deactivate it and it was still on my invoice. They had me paying for a receiver which they deactivated but had not removed from my invoice for over two years!. Upon further investigation they showed a receiver which I never had activated on Oct. 2012. I don't know what receiver they are talking about but they only will credit me one month of $6.00 for a receiver which they got money for 17 months which I never had such a receiver. They will not credit me any more than the $6.00. Clearly a ripoff! Not even as a good customer will they credit my account. I have been a good customer since 2006 but that will change now. They want 3 days to investigate the situation and they will get back to me with their findings which we know will be in their favor. Clearly they don't care about keeping customers.

DirecTV lying, false information

Called Direct TV and had conversation re: tv and internet bundling. Prices quoted included both. My father agreed to prices and packages which included "mediacom" internet. Installation dates for both set. TV installed 3-6-14. Appointment for Mediacom internet installation was set for 3-12-14. Mediacom did not show or call. Called Mediacom and they had no record of "bundling" and stated they did not bundle with Direct Tv. Call to direct TV and they said they DO bundle with Mediacom. But the TV rep said "her computer did not show that the internet part was ever order". I asked "then how do I have a date for installation given to me by TV salesperson" and she had no answer. So back and forth we go. Mediacom did say they would install internet for a much higher price than told us by Direct TV. This offer was turned down. My father has called them to remove all Direct TV equipment, and to H___ with them.

i have been with direct tv for probably 15 years or more they keep taking channels away from package my price keeps going up. first they took away soap net tv now they took away weather channel and replaced with weather nation. well weather nation never shows ny central ny that is. Hey people there is a whole state here not just the city. at least on weather channel i had alerts when we have bad weather in our area. weather nation does not do this and all they show is calfornia . i

DirecTV unauthorized charges to my pre-paid debit card - $2, 049.15!!!

Direct tv is without a doubt the worst satellite tv provider! In september of 2013 i ordered their basic entertainment package ($54.99/mo) with free installation, 1 hd dvr receiver for our main tv & 2 basic receivers for the other 2 tv's we have with no up front cost. After going over all the information with the rep and scheduling a date/time to be installed i was asked to provide credit/debit card information... I explained to the rep that i would be mailing out my payments i was told in order to complete the scheduling process they needed to have a "valid" card on file which would be charged $5.00. After having a half hour long debate with this rep i finally gave in and provided him my pre-paid debit card information and paid the $5.00. I also made it clear that i would be mailing in my future payments and did not give them permission to charge my debit card unless i called in to make a payment via debit. The following week two (Rude) technician's came to do my install which took 3 1/2 hours for only our main tv! I was told by the techs that their work order only had the one tv w/hd dvr receiver listed. While the techs were working to install our main tv i called direct tv to find out why the 2 other tv's were not being installed and was told by the dt rep that each additional basic receiver would cost $100 each to be installed and i would need to pay $200 that day (Of course they offered to charge my debit card they have on file!)... By this time i was disgusted and told them to just install the one tv, no way was i going to pay $200 just to have 2 additional receivers! The channel line up on my package was terrible! Most of the channels my family enjoys we didn't get (That was another wasted phone call to direct tv). I paid my first bill and after two months of having direct tv's piece of c*** service we had on our one tv i had enough... Called the cable company i've always used to get reconnected... Then called direct tv, gave them my blunt & honest opinion, cancelled my service and happily returned their equipment. Only 2 1/2 months in dealing with this direct tv nightmare... It continues. After reviewing my debit card statement i found that dt attempted to charge my card on 1/9/14 so i went online just two days ago and set up email alerts on my debit card transactions to see what they were trying to charge to my account. About 10:30 pm 2/1/14 i received five separate email alerts showing that direct tv attempted to charge my debit card various $ amounts totaling $2, 049.15 in one day! I no longer use this card for direct deposit of my pay check. I recently filed my taxes and did use this card to have my refund direct deposited onto! These charge attempts by direct tv have got to be illegal in some way any information or advice on how to get this issue seriously looked into would be helpful. I'm sure there are people out there who are or could be in a serious financial crisis based on the cc/debit/checking information direct tv forces you to provide just so they have a "card on file!"

I was told that I would have to pay 24.99 per month, for 12 months when I signed up for new customer service for my cable service, now it have went up to 63.00 a month. This is false advertisment

DirecTV untasteful commercial

Today I viewed a television commercial that was inappropriate and distasteful.
The commercial depicts a city in turmoil with panic and pandemonium in the streets, a real free for all depicting an elderly man falling victim to a rioters sucker punch to the stomach! Listen, we all too often we hear about our elderly population falling victim to assaults by young hoodlums often with fatal consequences’ This, I guess was humorous to the ad executives, a twisted humor that somehow glamorizes or normalizes assaults on the elderly. I find this twisted and disturbing.
This commercial is a campaign for Direct TV. Don’t get me wrong Direct TV has had a good track record on funny commercials, but you get a failing grade on this one!

Really annoyed by the constant barrage of commercials selling phone sex and "SteammateTV.com" on Spike TV. Adults cannot view shows without having some barely 18 offering her services.

DirecTV payment dispute

My sister in law's credit card was used for the initial set up of the account #[protected] and it was made clear to Direct tv representative that my sister in law's credit card information was only to be used the one time. Since then her card has been charged three times for payments on my account which has caused she and my brother serious financial distress. I would like for the funds taken in both November and December 2013 to be returned to her card immediately.

DirecTV mydebit card was charged for someone else's bill

My daughter, Janelle Stegeman had Direct TV installed at her home, at 3063 Goldfinch Ct. several months ago. She asked me to use my debit card, one time only, for them to start. She was to take care of the bill from then on. Direct TV actually charged me for two more
months until I told them to stop deducting it on my debit card, so they stopped.
This morning, I discovered they had deducted $683.22 from my account with no warning.
This overdrew my account very seriously so now I will have $35.00 charges coming in for
every bill that comes in to my account.
I want my money refunded as quickly as possible because this is not my bill and I have not received any service from you. It is not right for you to charge me for someone else's bill.
Please take care of this immediately.

Direct TV is associated with AT&T, and AT&T is a rip-off company. You told them to stop debiting from your account and they should have stopped. Fight until they refund your money.

DirecTV being billed for programing never used

I just got of the phone with direct tv, to ask about a service that I was being charged for and never used, it was the nfl ticket.
I was given this service free for one year, never used it so I never paid attention to it, my fault. I told the customer service person that and told her I wanted it stopped, and asked if since I never used it could the bill be adjusted for the last charge on my bill. I was told no.
I guess my complaint is why do they keep charging you after the free period ends? Why don't they terminate the service? My problem is I have them on the billing plan where they automatically take the money out of the account, my fault again. It seems like in this day and age that's the only way you can get services anymore. I know I can't be the only person out there that this has happened to. Also why do they make you sign a two year contract, it makes me feel like I am in a cage, your are trapped, that is what I told the direct tv rep, and her answer was your right. To terminate my service with them it will cost me a twenty dollar a month penality till the comlpetetion of my two year contract, comes to about one hundred dollars. This does not seem fair, why do I have to be charged for something I don't want, that's seems like I am being extorted.

We have had almost same issue. They have been billing us for over yr under sports fee and the 1st rep told us oh it looks like everyone in ur area has this billed. We turned to the 2 channels he gave us and what do u know we arent subscribed unavailable. We have filed a complaint with the indiana attorney generals office.

Sent money order for 29.97 August 14, 2013 found out money order was cash on August 30, 2013 money order was never received found out money order was cashed My Direct tv was cut off because of this and need and want to be reimbursed or credited for it I want my service restored and my account up to dated.

On April 22, at 7:23-8:00pm, I called Direct TV on one of there promotions that i was interested in. I just relocated from NYC on April 18th. I called and spoke to a representative, agent, his name was Robert. He asked me for all my information. He asked me for my debit card number. I gave it to him and he stated it did not go thru. He asked me again, i gaveit to him the card number again, it did not go thru, then a supervisor gets on and again it did not go thru. I stated lets cancel this request and check what's happening. The next day i checked my debit card from my Social Security Benefits and i had a balance of $100. I had $1, 103.00 the night before. I called my card and 3 withdrawals were made for $330.73, a total of $992.00. I called and all inquires must be on-line. I filled out a incident, report #[protected], for payment dispute. April 24, the customer support emails me that they cannot locate the payment with the information i gave them. I need my money back into my account as my rent is due next week. I Have not gotten a response from Direct TV since then. You have a quality assurance dept. that records all conversations, you can take money that fast but you can't acknowledge the person who sent it? This is how you do business? I know you have an accounting dept. and you can't find my information? i have never been so depressed, i am on a fixed income. Please help!. Josephine Lago . DirecTV account

I spoke to direct tv for 5 days. It was a total mess on their part. This included 3 or 4 different account numbers. 1. 131`00130, my fathers [protected], #[protected]. I spent 5 / 2 hours on phone last week to straighten tis all out. The last people we spoke with at direct tv was the investigative dept. At the end of the call thursday 08 / 29/2013 it seemed to be ok. They told me to call and set up a new account. I did this today 09/02/203 and they gave me account #[protected], I paid them $ 28.00 and they promised all kinds of free services. I scheduled this for saturday morning 09/07/2013 as hook up date. Now today I get a call from you know who (Direct tv) who tells me again I can't have this. This is after I paid therm. Now this call they tell me that because I had an account in nj years ago I cannot get a new account. I can only transfer my service from nj to ny and they want $ 200.00. Number one I do not own a credit card. I offered vto give a electronic check but they would not accept this. I am disabled and cannot get out of my house to easily. I told them I would pay the installer when he gets here. This also was unacceptable. This all started because my father just died and I wanted to change the account into my name. This is the aggravation you get for being honest. I am planning on hiring an attorney because I had to take nitro for my heart condition due to thee problems. I have all the names and id's on who I spoke to. Direct tv you should be ashamed at yourself. If they get this fixed before the end of today I will think of keeping direct tv, if not hello dish network

DirecTV I was promised a $200. visa card

I had been with Direct tv for about 7 yrs. Dish made me an offer I could not refuse. Of course it was to good and I never received the deals. It was not very long before I realized the mistake I had made. So I called Direct and told them I wanted to come back he asked me if there was a early disconnect charge I said yes and he said we want to help you with that. This was a nice surpise. He said he would get me a $200 visa card. I was charged $400 from dish. Then nobody heard about my initial offer . I was told many times I would get paperwork to send in I have continued with running around in circles to try and and get what I had been promised. Please don't let me down. I thought I left this behind with dish.

DirecTV unaproved funds taken from my bank account

Directv charged my bank account a total of 417.00 dollars this past weekend without my approval. I had 317.00 dollars on the 19th of July taken out my account . and on the 20th an additional 100.00 dollars. I understand that the Directv account holder Latoya Hill was behind in her bill. but the account is not mines or in my name but I was charged for it. I helped Latoya over a year ago get the Directv started cause she needed a bank card and we in a relationship at the time, so I did. but we r no longer together and Directv charged my account for her past do payments or something but I was never told that I would be charged for her . I also never approved for u all to charge my bank account. Nor was I told or informed that Directv took the money out my bank account, witch cause my bank account to be over drawn by the amount of 100.00 dollars

I had order Direct TV I had it all hooked up on Jan 20 cancelled on Jan 21 with in the 24 hours like I was told to do. They immediately took $419.20 out of my bank account as an early termination fee. In which this should have never happened they messed up all my banking and other payments. I have made several calls hours on the phone they keep telling me it is in the billing department’s hands. It is now Feb 18 2009 and stills nothing. I keep on getting the same response as my bills build up more because of the incompetent people who took this money out to begin with.
