I have had direct TV now for about three months and have had one problem after another. I had initially switched from cable to DirectTV because I thought that their high definition service would be superior. Big mistake. Since the time of install I have been through 4 high definition receivers, each one failing for a different reason. When your service goes out with DirectTV your only option is to wait for a replacement box or for a service tech which in my case has taken close to a week each time. My service has been so spotty that I have had to retain my cable so that I have a backup. Talk about spending too much for T.V. service. Now that my experience with these buffoons has soured to the point it has i decided that i had had enough. Unfortunately their two year contract insulates them from having to provide any level of acceptable service at all. Even though my experience has been a nightmare and I have spent countless valuable hours trying to resolve issues they will not offer to terminate my contract no matter how many times I have requested this. I am currently without any service again and I have decided that I am going to bite the bullet and pay the termination fee. I am not litigious person but have considered taking these bullies to court. I can't imagine that I am the only person that has had these issues. I would avoid doing business with this company at all cost. I wish good luck to all those that are in the same boat as me.

I was actually talked into getting direct tv when I called to sign up for AT & T internet. But I took it because it seemed like a good deal. Well, I couldn't pay the bill, so they disconnected my service. At he time, I owed them $136. Last Saturday, I noticed a charge in my bank account, on hold, for $535.64. OMG! I checked my account and it was Direct TV. I called them to find out why they went into my account without authorization, what was all of this money for. They gave me all of this story about your bill, early termination charges, and unreturned equipment. I returned the equpment the very next day after I got their box . Luckily, I still had the receipt. They would not give me my money back. I couldn't believe this was legal. They said that when I signed the contract, I agreed to this. No, I did not. So my bank filed a dispute, for $399 of the $535 to pay the acual bill that I owed them, and refunded me the $399. I also called my bank back, after I thought about it, and had the card cancelled and ordered a new one. What a nightmare. Do not get direct tv. My bank was telling me about some states that disputed direct tv for dong this, and because of that, direct tv is not allowed to charge anyone's account, without permission, anymore in some states. I am trying to file a class action lawsuit against them in Georgia, so that we can become one of those states.

3/14/15 We have had many issues with Direct TV and their service. We are now on Level 4 which means we have complained about their techs and their messing up our whole house system. What prompted me to respond to this, is that we purchased their repair/replacement insurance and pay on it monthly for when any electronics go out . About a month ago, our 4 year old 50" plasma TV went out and their repair service called and said it was finally fixed about 4 days ago. They set up a time for me to be home on a Friday. I waited all day and they never showed. I had to call them and spoke with the Driver and he said he would be coming. I took off of work for this again and he never showed. My husband called Driect TV"s Sarter Repair in Plano, TX who Direct Tv contracts with and the Manager said he would bring it out on Saturday. We waited all day again and they didn't show nor bothered to call. Matter of fact, the Manager at Sarter hung up the phone on my husband when he tried to corner them on a time. We feel the pain and don't bother complaining to Direct TV as it falls on deaf ears. We are hoping they return our TV set or we ourselves will go over there to pick it up as it is not theirs. I think a class action suit against Direct TV is a wise choice. My email address is mariannnichols@me.com.

Direct TV has gotten too big and they evidently don't have enough employees to service their contracts and that is why they contract out on their jobs. I agree with the complaint from Washington. We would agree to joining a class action suit against Direct TV as they have caused enough stress and downtime from our jobs. They have definitely breached our contract with them and I will be contacting the Texas Attorney General's Office of their misconduct.

I cannot believe that they have the ability or right to collect like this. They can basically take their money before one can pay their Mortage. How is it possible that they can get ahead of the line before housing and utilities. I filed a consumer complaint with our State's Attorney General. I requested that the law be change to prevent this kind of theft, because it IS theft, and that since they collected ALL their money, that no negative comments or rating show up on my credit record. We'll see what happens.

I'm like judge Judy [WHAT A WORLD].This is so wrong so many people being BLANTNALY treated like this We are going to find us a new source or have none, they have robbed enough from us.

Folks,
I have a similiar story. Ordered up Direct TV, and when I found out ESPN was a premium channel with them, I tried to cancel and was charged the pre cancelation fee. I NEVER EVEN GOT STARTED WITH DIRECT TV!

We all can complain and post up; That doesn't get their attention. We need a class action sort of lawsuit, claiming that Direct TV uses deceptive advertising and unfair practices. Anything else is worthless.

NO NOTICE OF THE CW CHANNEL IN SAVANNAH GA WAS CANCELLED. FALSE ADVERTISING THAT THE CHANNEL WILL BE UP SHORTLY TO CHECK BACK PERIODICALLY TO SEE IF THE CW CHANNEL IS UP AND RUNNING, JUST COME OUT AND SAY THAT THERE WILL BE NO MORE CW CHANNEL AND STOP FOOLING PEOPLE TO GET DIRECT TV WHEN THEY ARE NOT GOING TO GET THE MAIN CHANNEL THAT THEY WANT.

I think it is sad that big corporation can take advantage of the small people. We can't fight these companies, and i think the banks are in on these types of scams. They work together one hand washes the other so to speak. BE CAREFUL CROOKED COMPANIES

Direct TV will rob you blind don't ever give them your card # to your bank account ...because they will go in and take what was never authorized in writing and will not refund you ...get smart if you give them your card or credit card # before you cancel your service with them cancel your card and get a new number to keep there sorry ### out of your account ...i moved and they took early cancellation out of my account without any authorization but will claim they disclosed that to you when you signed up for the service ...that if you cancel your service they can go in and take the early cancellation charge.even when you tell them where you moved won't allow dishes or will they come to verify that you can not get southern skies (any signal)...they want to charge you to come out to do that also ...stay away from DIRECT TV

I have a similar situation. A with drawl was made on my bank statement for 48.82 which caused an overdraft fee for 34.00. The reason for me complaining is we have NEVER had direct tv because my husband has worked for Comcast for over 17 years and we get that service for free and long as he is a employee. There is really no need to anyother service. My bank account needs to be credited.

I'm so angry as well! I wished I had never called DircetTV and that's my biggest regret right now. I've only had them for 3 days and I absolutely hate them and the ugly wiring they did not including the holes that they've made to my house as well.
When I called and I spoke to customer service William he was such in a rush to take my debit card number he can barley explain anything to me. He told me that if I wasn't happy with the service I can call back and cancel and get my money back and we an just part ways and that's it, well WRONG now I'm bind to the damn contract for 24 months now. Whatever you do never agree or give your card number to DirectTV it will be your biggest regret. I don't know how I'm gonna do this for the 24 months. I want out of DirectTV and I don't know what to do anymore. Any suggestions?

I am so angry because I have been a customer since 1997 and I have 8 receivers. Each year I order the NFL Sunday ticket. And each year the games are fewer and fewer. EVERY weekend, 3-4 games are blocked and I can't view. I live in Las Vegas so there are NO teams close. The games that are usually blocked are Green Bay, San Francisco, Denver and St. Louis. Even though they advertise access to "EVERY" game, that is NOT what you get. NOW, the NFL Network, which is part of the monthly package, is blocked. I am so pissed. And of course, you can't get ANYONE that speaks English.

Directv deducted 551+ dollars from my account with out my authorization. I don't have an account with directv but I would pay my fathers account. I stopped paying his directv account about 2 or 3 months ago and now they just took money out of my account. I haven't heard anything about my complaint yet. I guess I must be screwed for lack of a better word. Sorry if that term offended anyone. I can't believe they can just do that with out your approval or with out any type of warning to allow us time to dispute it. This stinks.

I have been with DT for almost 10 years. We moved to a new place that did not permit us to have DT but we could have Cox. They electronically took monies from us for almost a year and when we caught it, we sent in all needed documentation to prove but they still will not give back the monies that is owed to us. We have disputed this a long time. Every time we call we get another department or we get another rep who has to hear this over and over again. Everyone we have spoken to has said that they can not help in that particular department so the cycle goes on and on. I really love DT so if we have done our part then why should they not do theirs? We are not taking the time to say, write or call about something just to be doing it. Come on DT give us our just do.

Here is another proud service Direct TV has their employees do. They protect the criminal and treat the victim like trash. Someone stole my credit card and paid their Direct TV bill with it. I disputed and did get a refund by them but on the same hand I wanted to know who's account was paid for with my card. They said they couldn't give that information out. I asked if they were going to do anything like cut those people's account off for commiting fraud. No they don't do a thing. I have had to file a police report and hope that they take the time to contact Direct TV since they are the only ones who can find out! I am so frustrated with Direct TV. It's my card that paid someone else's bill why shouldn't I know who it is!

DONT GIVE THEM YOUR CREDIT/DEBIT CARD INFORMATION. I went online in mid-February to cancel service. I thought it took my request and wasn't to worried about it, because my debit card that they on file that they were using for auto pay expired in February. I have several accounts that I have set up with auto pay and once the card was expired I received a timely call from them requesting new card information in which i gave them the information. I didn't receive any calls from Direct TV so I thought my cancellation request went through. After moving and looking at my bank account I realized that Direct TV kept running the card even though they had an expired card and different security code. I called them back in May very angry and asked why they can do that on an expired information. That's why we get new cards with new expiration dates and security codes. The guy on the phone said " Yea that's strange!" They ran my card for a total of $307.40. He then told me if i wanted to dispute the charges that i need to write a letter and send it by US mail to them. They do this, thinking a lot of people will just blow it off. Well i did send out the letter and got someone to call me back which could barley speak English and starting reading off the cue card stating ' Sir in the agreement you agreed to its states that Direct TV can process your card for any debits owed" I told her i understand that but do you guys mention to your customers that you can run these charges well after a card has expired? After my dispute went to them about these bogus charges they then ran my card again for cancellation fees for $76.00. Now they have almost $400.00 from me with a debit card that has been expired for 4 months. I've been on the phone with them for over an hour. I told them i wanted to speak to the ladies managers, manager they put me on hold for 20 min then hung up on me. No matter what i will get my $400.00 back one way or another. Either I will eat their time up for this matter or get my money back from them or my bank. This is real scary and now I think I will change all my accounts that have auto pay.

I cancelled service with direct tv in January 2014. On 5/31/2014 my debit card had a balance of ONE DOLLAR AND TWENTY THREE CENTS on it. They attempted to get $733 off it and my bank tells me that they are attempting to take different amounts $733, $588, $462 everyday. They claim that I owe them for unreturned equipment. I had there service on from Oct. 31, 2013 thru 1/1/2014. They've sent me a box to return their equipment in and are still trying on a daily basis to try and take money from my debit card. I can no longer use this debit card and I am having a different card issued. Are they going to try and take money from new card? My bank tells me that if I had given them my routing number they could try. I don't think (or remember giving them) my routing number. I never authorized them to take money from account except on Oct 31st for my deposit. How can they get away with this? I am in search of an attorney to find out my rights and get to the bottom of this. Good luck to us all and I will post back when I find something out.

This is happening to me as we speak.Direct TV this morning debited $621.09 from the bank account that I used when I signed up in 2011. I was on a 2 yr. contract and that contract expired more than a yr ago. If there is small print stating they will do this, it should be imperative that it is explained to the customer in full.I just received the return kit last week, and have been out if town.I was not there when it arrived and will not be there til next week. I was told by my bank that even though I did not authorize nor do I have the money in the bank, Visa will go ahead and pay them and I will be responsible for it. Also, any transactions I have made will be negative, causing OD's and possible returned for insufficient funds. Wow! This can really make for a real hardship. I don't know what to do at this point. Even my bank is going along with it, and I have been a customer there for more than a decade. Since I signed a 2 yr. contract, I would think that when it expired any thing in that contract would be no longer in effect. Any amount of money taken with out our knowledge or consent is wrong, but over $600 will be devastating to me as I am disabled and on a very limited income.

I signed up with direct tv last December. Two days after the technician installed the service. I find out that my internet connection was not working when I tried to check my email. I tried to unplug and put it back in but still not working. So I called the internet. The internet said that the direct tv technician got lazy and unplug the internet and connect their direct tv. The internet charged me more because of that diligence that direct tv did to my internet. Now because I have not paid it because I cannot afford to pay that amount . My internet will be cut off. I want to file a complaint against this Direct TV.

My fiance` and I lived in a 38 ft. RV and he had Direct TV in his name.. We separated in October of 2012 and I left. I paid the bill with my debit card a couple of times until he could pay me back. I go into my checking account today and see they have charged me almost $200.00 that he has not paid. I have no idea where he may be and don't really care. I just know this is not my bill and should not be charged for it. I want my money back. How can I do this?

Direct TV is without a doubt the WORST satellite TV provider! In September of 2013 I ordered their basic Entertainment Package ($54.99/mo) with FREE Installation, 1 HD DVR receiver for our main TV & 2 basic receivers for the other 2 TV's we have with no up front cost. After going over all the information with the Rep and scheduling a date/time to be installed I was asked to provide credit/debit card information... I explained to the Rep that I would be mailing out my payments I was told in order to complete the scheduling process they needed to have a "valid" card on file which would be charged $5.00. After having a half hour long debate with this Rep I finally gave in and provided him my pre-paid debit card information and paid the $5.00. I also made it clear that I would be mailing in my future payments and did NOT give them permission to charge my debit card unless I called in to make a payment via debit. The following week two (RUDE) Technician's came to do my install which
took 3 1/2 HOURS for ONLY OUR MAIN TV! I was told by the Techs that their work order only had the one TV w/HD DVR receiver listed. While the Techs were working to install our main TV I called Direct TV to find out why the 2 other TV's were not being installed and was told by the DT Rep that each ADDITIONAL BASIC RECEIVER would cost $100 each to be installed and I would need to pay $200 that day (of course they offered to
charge my debit card they have on file!)... by this time I was disgusted and told them to just install the one TV, no way was I going to pay $200 just to have 2 additional receivers! The channel line up on my package was terrible! Most of the channels my family enjoys we didn't get (that was another wasted phone call to Direct TV). I paid my first bill and after two months of having Direct TV's piece of crap service we had
on our ONE TV I had enough... called the cable company I've always used to get reconnected... then called Direct TV, gave them my blunt & honest opinion, cancelled my service and happily returned their equipment. Only 2 1/2 months in dealing with this Direct TV NIGHTMARE... it continues. After reviewing my debit card statement I found that DT attempted to charge my card on 1/9/14
so I went online just two days ago and set up email alerts on my debit card transactions to see what they were trying to charge to my account. About 10:30 PM 2/1/14 I received FIVE separate email alerts showing that Direct TV attempted to charge my debit card various $ amounts totaling $2, 049.15 IN ONE DAY! (see attached). I no longer use this card for direct deposit of my pay check. I recently filed my taxes and did use this card to have my refund direct deposited onto! These charge attempts by Direct TV have got to be illegal in some way Any information or advice on how to get this issue seriously looked into would be helpful. I'm sure there are people out there who are or could be in a serious financial crisis based on the CC/Debit/Checking information Direct TV FORCES you to provide just so they have a "CARD ON FILE!

Anytime a company requires you to allow automatic withdrawals from your bank account or you give them a debit card number to pay the monthly bill, you set yourself up for situations like this. The best way to pay for internet/cable service is to have them send you a monthly statement and then you pay it by writing a check. The alternate way, if you don't wish to write a check is to pay it via credit card. Be aware that by paying with a credit card, they have your card info and may slip in a charge for something like an early cancellation of service or charge you for un-returned items, etc. Bottom line: read what you are signing for. Always. And, always be suspicious

Because you signed up with them and agreed to have your payment automatically withdrawn by putting in your bank information. The little box that you marked accepting their terms and agreements, read the fine print.

We had directv service lacking approx a month shy of the two year agreement. They sent us a final bill, in which we went online and paid the bill. They said they would send out a envelope for us to return the cards from the recievers. That was all they needed, because the equipment was outdatted. Well, low and behold about three weeks later I am getting a bill for over $600.00 they say we ordered porno stations, which we never did. We only rented one movie which, was the smurfs, no porno at all. We were also told you could only rent movies on the main reciever in the living room. Well, on the bill there are all different recievers with charges. And also some charges in 2010 and we never even had service in 2010 with them. We have gone through the process of disputing the bill. So they sent it into a collection agency, who has called my phone almost daily since. I told the guy on the phone that the bill was being disputed, I was then told they have it in my name and I never signed a contract. I was responsible for the bill and directv was not going to lower it at all because we rented those movies and had to pay for them. I then told him I am sixty someodd years old and if I wanted to look at porno I could watch it all day on the internet for free. He finally got pissed with me and hung up. But still calls on a daily basis. I think this is very wrong. Since when do you have to send in the cards from the recievers. sounds like a crock of ### to me. I am tired of this kind of crap. They are extremly overprice for their services for what you get.

I am stuck in this now with dtv. Its insane. I was charged 73.13. I called them saying i dodnt authorize this i need my money back. They claim itll have to clear then they can refund it. I told the lady i am getting my tax refund in 1 month i am foing to pay in full then...so they need to take my cc off file si they dont charge me again. Then two days later another 233.89 was taken out. Niw i have to wait for transactions to clear! Doesnt help that customer service opens at 8. Prob cuz they would be cussed out all night by angry customers...plus my bank cant make it to where they cand charge in the future cuz dtv labels it as a one time ccard transaction its nit a recurring transaction. Wish i woulda knew!

Per conversation with DIRECTV ON 12/27/2013, I provided an update to my credit card. I was informed that a payment of $111.16 was due. DIRECTV took payment over the phone and I was under impression that I had been enrolled into Auto Pay. Payment was accepted. Received several emails stating that there is a payment due of $254.99. Where is the $111.16? DIRECTV informed me that it takes 30 days for Auto pay to take effect. Based on this information Auto Pay should have been in effect 12/27/2013). Based on a payment received for November 2013 in the amount of $234.00 est. Latest email received (1/3/2014) stated that they did not see the payment of $111.16. DIRECTV Rep stated to me on 12/27/2013 that she updated my credit card information and had entered a payment ($111.16) and that I had been enrolled into Auto Pay. Based on the information received from email of 01/03/2014, it rakes 30 days for Auto Pay to take effect. If this is true, then the effective date would been 1/27/2014. All I wish to do is to resolve quickly and do not want the payment of $111.16 to be double posted. Due to the current issue, the late fees has been waived (email of 1/3/2014). Email also stated that they have no way of checking receipt of payment or words to that effect. .

I LOVE DTV. However, I have to be honest, in that I am ashamed of how the company has treated my loyalty. I lost my job, and set up a payment plan with my old business, as they were so kind to help me financially (I had to cancel my DTV service). DTV helped me with this over the phone. A week later, I went to get some food from store to eat before the holidays. Declined. I came to find out DirectTV changed my card completely, changed my billing address, and used my check card to pay for my payment plan. They didn't take more than I had, but fished my bank account, down to the last penny, and without notice. They took everything I had saved up before Christmas. It left me in tears, and hungry. This all happened a day before Christmas 2013. Shocked. I like their service, but I cannot continue with DirectTV. When a friend robs you blind, you can't call them a friend anymore.

You should not offer service you you can't honer just to get customers. When i signed up with Direct TV I thought i was going to save money because that's what i was told. Instead i was charged for whatever your customer rep. thought i should pay. it is totally unfair.

Direct TV is one of the worst. You guys have the worst customer service i have ever came across. I order a bundle deal for my phone tv and internet. my bill was suppose to be 96.00 per month for all three, instead i am getting charge from the telephone company and also direct tv. i cancelled my service because of the miscommunication on direct tv part, which they did not want to correct. Now i am been charged for breaking a contract i did not sign up for.

when i had my service terminated i had a credit balance on my account . it took 3 months to get a credit issued. by then i had accrued another month of "service" when in truth it had been discontinued a month before. just recieved a bill today 4 months after service was terminated saying i owed for 4 pay per views .never ever ordered ppv. supposedly showed up on the card when equipment was returned. steer clear of direct. best to go with a local provider as i have done.

We had been in a dispute with DirectTV over the amount owed. We received a bill for $397 which we did not agree to. They gave us an early termination fee although we had been with them 4 years - they said when we went to HD it renewed the contract. Additionally, we had referred a friend and were entitled to the $100 they advertise. They said we were not qualified for that since we terminated our services. On 2/17/10 we received boxes from them to return the equipment, they were picked up by FedEx on 2/19/10. On 2/22/10 they took $628 from our account, which was not authorized. It included $239 for equipment not received. We got ahold of FedEx and after tracking found out the equipment was delivered on 2/24/10. We called DirectTV and they said we were entitled to $239 and we would receive it in 6-8 weeks. They should not be allowed to do this!
