This cruise left San Juan on 8/31 for a 7 day cruise to the eastern Caribbean. Highlights of the cruise were the 6 islands we visited including some great beaches. The wait and stateroom staff were great. But, this cruise had several problems:
1. It was apparent that Security was unable to control the young men in rooms across the hall who felt partying in their rooms late at night was perfectly acceptable behavior. Repeated calls to security and complaints to the Pursar's office failed to resolve the problem. Of the 7 nights, they made a restful sleep impossible on 4 nights.
2. This boat was going to the Bahamas for refurbishment after this cruise but Carnival felt it was acceptable to inconvenience the passengers on this cruise by getting a head start on the refurbishment/renovation. A quiet spa treatment was impossible given the jack hammering going on in the floor above. We were told to stay out of our room for a day so they could replace railings for the glass balconies. The smell of the solvent when we returned was very strong but were told it was not harmful. The head start on refurbishment resulted in no special fitness classes like spinning, yoga or pilates.
3. We received a letter on the last night of the cruise saying we would receive credit for the spa treatment but this was 5 days after the complaint. It was probably no coincidence that we received the letter with the credit at the same time we received the comment card for the cruise so it felt like a pay-off.
