DermFx Botox

In November 2021 I received a botched Botox treatment from Nina in Newport Beach. I knew within two days it was wrong. They made me wait two weeks to go back in. At that time Callum could tell my I had severe ptosis and uneven brows. She put a "vibrating" machine on the area that did nothing and tried to fix the uneven brow. I was told to wait until end of February/early March to come back so the Botox could wear off. In March I went back to Callum and she dropped my eyebrows even WORSE. On top of it they wanted to charge me. I spoke with Martha who was useless and rude. I went back in to have Kristy look at my eyelids and was told I would again have to "wait it out". At least she acknowledged the work was done improperly and gave me one days worth of Upneeq to see if it helped. It did help with the discomfort so I asked for a 3 month prescription (its $220/bottle) or my money back and I would buy the drops on my own. After Martha was again useless, Tori called me. She offered me 30 samples of the drops and told me to call back in a month and had an "oh well" attitude. Since this visit I have visited a plastic surgeon who described the work at DermFX as gross negligence. Do the right thing DermFx - return my money and supply me with more drops. On top of all this my forehead lines are back after one month, suggesting they water down product as similarly described in numerous Yelp reviews. I highly suggest everyone steer clear of this business.

Desired outcome: My money back and two months of Upneeq

DermFx Cosmetic procedures

Dr Miller is an incompetent unqualified surgeon. His website is 100% misleading. He calls himself a cosmetic surgeon but he is an ENT!Ear nose throat!

He probably took a weekend course and got some cheap certificate that allows him to call himself a cosmetic surgeon.
I stupidly paid him to perform a necklift and fat transfer both procedures were horrible results. No difference on my neck whatsoever and the fat transfer was totally botched causing permanent damage. I asked for a refund and tried to sue and then the spiteful and angry Dr miller had me blacklisted from Dermfx like I would ever pay for his amature inexperienced services again.
The staff are a bunch of OC housewives wannabes who are so overfilled with product it's enough to scare you away

Dermfx advertises all these so called "monthly specials" but all they do is water down their filler products so you think you are getting a great deal. TOTAL RIP OFF. Stay away. Go to a board certified plastic surgeon or Dermatologist. This place is a joke and Dr Miller is a QUACK!

DermFx Horrible IPL burns

I had Ipl and I was burned so badly. I was in a lot of pain during the procedure and had told the technician multiple times during the procedure that it was painful and burning. Immediately after finishing it became clear that I was burned. multiple people came in and tried to assure me that I was fine and I had the perfect skin and not to worry I would be perfect in a week. The next morning I had huge blisters on my face and open weeping burns. I immediately went back and they still tried to tell me I would be fine in a week. I had 2nd and 3rd degree burns on my face. I had open weeping wounds on my face for nearly 3 months. I have been to five specialist since this incident, none of these Doctors have ever seen such bad burns from an IPL. I now have horrible scars on my face, I have lost elasticity and have a rough texture to my skin. Avoid DERMFX

This place is usually pretty good, but I have never seen a doctor there ever and some of their nurses don't have very much experience and you kind of feel like a ginny pig because they do things that hurt you ect. or they act like they aren't sure about what their doing. I think they need a little more supervision to ensure that patients don't end up with damaging affects on their face.

DermFx Horrible Care and Follow Up

4/26/2013

This place is horrible and I will never return. Paid for dysport--the same amount I usually do and the nurse couldn't get my frown lines correctly? When I returned for them to fix the problem they wanted to charge me more money for them to fix their mistake saying because I'm older now I now need 25 more units--I would totally follow this logic--except for the fact that I'm 33

DermFx UNHAPPY with the POOR SERVICE and BAD RESULTS!

Both (and last) visits, I did not have a good experience, to say the least (it's because I DIDN'T KNOW ANY BETTER, never gone to a 'medspa' for any of these procedures before). Even with the deals and discounts for the same procedures (I don't know what their prices are now) but at the time I went Jan. 2010) it was more than double than at some of the places I know now and with newer equipment, machines, more professional and highly trained staff to proform the procedures.

My first visit, the consult, they showed the works! Which was fine because I had no idea that there were so many different products and services. Before, I knew it, I had the works done on me (same day as the consult), they sold me on way more botox and Radiesse than I needed, my face had bruising and was swollen for over a week and I was in a lot of pain during and after the procedures (because I was only given a frozen water balloon ). Like I mentioned earlier, I didn't know any better, so I thought that it was how it's done and it's the price to pay for beauty, no pain, no gain.

The second visit was for my first ever IPL (photofacial) for my melasma (what they sold me on during my initial consult visit). They made me go upstairs to one machine and run downstairs to a second machine because they said the lasers treats different color pigmentation (brown, red). My face burned like it was litterally on fire! The woman "nurse" who did the IPL on me burned/singed a big chunk of hair by my ear and I was smelling my hair burning during procedure but I was told not to move or say anything and she acted as if it was nothing. After the procedure, she just disappeared and I was left laying there in pain for over 45 minutes, then another person walked and acted surprised that I was still there and told me to go wash my face wtih cool water. I asked for the nurse who performed the IPL on me and they said she had gone home. I never saw or heard from that "nurse" who did the IPL on me... and again, I was just sent home with a frozen water balloon.

I thought I would get a follow-up phone call from them because of the little incident I had, I wasn't going to make a big deal about it but it would have been nice if they showed some concern. After a week, I called the office because most of the hair on the side of my right ear (like sideburns) were falling off and I was worried that it wouldn't grow back; I was still very polite and nice when I called because I didn't know any better. They told me that it was common and that it happens all the time and some people like their facial hair removed and that in fact that it was one of the positive side-effects of IPLs. I was shocked to hear that and just took their word for it even though I liked to have hair on that part of my face and was just hoping no one would notice it if it never grew back.

Well, the good news is I looked into a few other places and they are much better priced and I had so much, much better results! At first, when I started calling other places to inquire about an IPL photofacial, like an idiot wanting to sound smart and that I knew what I was doing this time around, I asked them if they are using two machines for red and brown pigment lasers, every other place said that their machines are NEW and it had both lasers in one machine and it also has a built-in cooling system and everything. It made sense...and ever since, I had gone to other places for an IPL and all other services similar, it has been just great, much better results, painless, and one third of the cost and my face is not on fire and in pain during or after all the procedures and the best part, no more frozen water balloons needed!

If I had to endure the pain I experienced at Dermfx(Sunset Beach), I probably would rather just live with the wrikles and melasma for the rest of my life than ever go back there again!

In case any one of you cared, my hair (sideburns) eventually all grew back 6 months later, thank God. I still don't have any thing against DermFx; I am happy that some of you other women had good things to say but, I would have too if I had not known better! I guess it's the price we pay to look beautiful...best of luck to all you!

DermFx watered down product

I want to begin by stating I have had Botox injections in the past and was quite satisfied with the results. Dermfx was pushing a new FDA approved product, Dysport, as a longer acting alternative to Botox. The results were nowhere as good as Botox and I am certain the nurse did not inject my forehead at all, although I was charged for forehead injections. There was no evidence of injections in the forehead and therefore no results. I think this med-spa is ripping off consumers by not giving them the full dose of what is charged, but it is very hard to prove when there is only the nurse and the client in the room. The medspa industry in California can do whatever it wants because it knows the state has cut back on enforcement officers. From now on, I will avoid all medspas even though they are more convenient, and only visit reputable board certified physicians. The medspas are not less expensive than a dermatologist or plastic surgeon.

I hate when people blame the spa and practitioners on their results. Everyone is different and everyones body absorbs things differently! This woman sounds like shes the type thats never satisfied! I worked for dermfx sunset beach office for 7 years, and i can tell you that the owner was very strict about diluting down botox and dysport . The dilution has always been with allergans protocol. Dermfx didnt become a black diamond injector by watering down botox ! Black diamond is the highest honor a med spa can get from allergan .

I've known the owners of Dermfx for years, they are the most honest people I know. It's an extremely professional medspa and they certainly would never 'water down' products or try to talk someone into a treatment. Every time I've been into any of their 3 locations I've always been treated well. It's unfortunate that there's always a bad seed making false allegations towards good people.

Kimberly in Sunset Beach was the only RN who understood and listened knew what she was doing. The rest are incompetent and self absorbed who only care about what THEY look like.. Especially that dingbat Stacy

It sound like there is damaged control posted here.

Botox and facial fillers can be done with wonderful results by anyone who is trained well and have extensive experience with injecting different parts of the face. I had my face injected by an RN and physican's assistant numerous times while living in Arizona. The result from both is very pleasing at a fraction of what other doctors charge.

Not all doctors charge an arm & leg for botox and facial fillers. I had to go see an ENT doctor for my GRED. Then I saw his prices for botox and facial fillers. He also offers dysport for $3.40 per unit. This is a product competing against botox. $7.50 per unit for botox and $350 per syring of juvaderm. He spent more than an hour doing my injections.

I am with you girl! I have been EVERYWHERE! DermFX is the bomb! I have been doing Botox and fillers for 10 years. I have always had consistently good results there. I stopped trying other places, in fear of them messing up my face. I have had droopy eyes, bruises and some crazy problems from plastic surgeons who took up Botox because surgeries are down! Well no thank you! DermFX is affordable, quick and I love all the girls there. I want someone that injects all day long- not just when they have to. Misty- I can't disagree with you more. You should try this place again. I just don't believe it. How do you not know if your forehead was injected or not? Maybe you need a facelift!

I think this person’s complaint is completely misleading, and frankly slanderous for Dermfx, the spa she went to.
Firstly I have trouble believing anyone who goes to a doctor’s office and comes out and doesn’t know weather or not they received the injections they came in for. Interesting?
Secondly, as for “ Pushing the product Dysport” as this person claims, the last time I checked patients were required to give consent, (i.e. written and physical) before they received a treatment, like Dysport. So unless they tied her down, I think she needs to take some personal responsibility for trying a new product, and accept if the results were less than what she was used to with Botox. That is not the med spas Fault, as Dysport is a new product and the industry is still gathering feedback on it. Although It seems, in the past month or so quite some people have been dissatisfied with the claims and effectiveness of Dysport, including myself.
Thirdly, to clam that they are not giving you the dose that you are being charged for is ridiculous. This is a service industry; these people count on repeat business. If the patient dose not get a good result they have lost a customer and if the company wants to stay in business for more than a year or two, there are going to do everything to keep the clients happy and coming back.

Fourthly, as far as her statement that med spas are the same price as a dermatologist or a plastic surgeon. That is absolutely 100% False. Just look on the Internet for the prices and then call any doctor’s office and you will see that the Doctors offices are way way more expensive.
Lastly, as a customer of DermFX for the past 7 years I can tell you that they didn't get to be one of the top med spas in Southern California by watering down product, they do it by great customer service and knowledgeable practitioners.
This person should have tried to resolve whatever issue she had with the spa before venting liableous remarks on the net.

Sincerely,
Haley Jensen
