I keep getting phone calls from a blocked number, or an all zero number or a crazy number like 099. They said they are from the FBI/Dept of Law & Investgiation of Florida. The number they gave me was [protected]. The 1st man i spoke with claimed to be officer mark williams( with an indian accent) with the FBI / The department of law and investigation and the second gentleman claimed to be Officer Anderson also with the FBI. they had all my information, address, full name, social security number and so on. They say thier are complaints of fraud against my social security number and for me to pay 504.00 today via credit card to have these charges dropped or I will be arrested by 5 today and could serve up to 15 years for fraud. I told them to provide me some paperwork, even a fax or an email and he refused, got angry and said I was being difficult so he would just continue with the case and have me charged. Im not stupid and told them to bring it on. These calls have been going on for over a year now and come in bunches of 5 or 6 over a two week span then stop for a month or two. Someone out there has my information and could use it for anything . These people are not real. They are foriegn, and trying to steal peoples idenities and banking information! Punch in the phone number on google and youll find hundreds of other complaints... Just because someone says officer or fbi or even that you owe them money...Be AWARE!!

12/14/10 I have been receiving phone calls as well that started with at my place of employment. They told me that I had a federal lawsuit pending against my social security number for internet fraud. I have actually received calls from two different people. The first one was on 12/14/10 at my place of employment from someone by the name of Officer Frank Johnson. He told me that I had a criminal lawsuit filed against my social security number and was told to pay $632.85 by the end of the day or they would come arrest me. I told him I wanted proof of what he had and he said that he couldn't do that. He said once I made my first payment, I would receive a copy of the Affidavit in the mail within 7-10 business days. Two days later, I received another phone call at work from someone else stating his name was Officer Adam Thomas. He had the exact same information the other person had. When I said that I had already received a phone call from Officer Johnson he had the nerve to tell me that the other person was a scam and not to trust him, that he had my case file not Officer Johnson. When I started asking questions, he either refused to answer them or he started to get threatening. These people have American Names but with thick heavy accents to where you can barely understand them. I have since filed a police report against them and am refusing to pay them any money. Now they are calling my family members (somehow they have this information as well) and threatening them. They claim they are from the Department of Law and Investigation. They have all my personal information including my date of birth and complete social security number. These people are ruthless and will not take no for a hint. I have also contacted the FBI and was clearly advised that this is a scam and that they are aware of the situation. DO NOT GIVE IN TO THESE PEOPLE AND DO NOT PAY THEM ANYTHING OR BELIEVE WHAT THEY SAY!!! My place of employment just so happens to be at my local courthouse, but that does not deter these people. Be very carefull. I have been dealing with this since 12/14/10. It is now 12/18/10 and these people, between work and home have called over 35 times. On 12/17/10, they have called my place of employment 15 times. It's very frusterating and very frighting. As I've said before, BE CAREFULL!!!

These same people have called me since November. They even called me from a number that just came up as 3 and they called from that number 16 times in a row! These people are ridiculous and need to be stopped. They have even started to call my sister and mother. There has got to be some way to catch these creeps.

I ALSO HAVE RECEIVED CALLS BUT I HAVE A NUMBER FOR THEM 760-514-0148 FROM AN (INDIAN PERSON) AS WELL CLAIMING THAT HE WORKS FOR THE DEPARTMENT OF LAW AND INVESTIGATION DEPARTMENT TELLING MY FATHER OWES 469.00 TO THEM. THEIR MESSAGE IS VERY HARD TO UNDERSTAND AND SOUNDS LIKE HIS NAME IS JOHN ? BUT IS SO HARD TO UNDERSTAND HIS COMPLETE MESSAGE. HE TOLD MY FATHER TO FAX HIM AT (206)3502681 ATTENTION STEVE WILLIAMS AT THE LAW AND LEGAL-INVESTIGATION DEPARTMENT IN CALIFORNIA. CAN ANYONE HELP TAKE THESE PEOPLE DOWN AND STOP THESE HARRASSING PEOPLE FROM CALLING AND STOP THESE SCAMS FROM HAPPENING. IF ANYONE CAN HELP I HAVE AT LEAST GAVE SOME MORE INFO TO POSSIBLE SHUT THESE PEOPLE DOWN AND TO POSSIBLE STOP THEM FROM TRYING TO SCAM PEOPLE OUT OF THEIR HARD EARNED MONEY. THERE ARE TOO MANY SCAMMERS OUT THERE TRYING TO SCAM PEOPLE BECAUSE IT COMES NATURAL TO THEM AND THEY SHOULD BE PUNISHED FOR THESE CRIMES.. I ALSO BELIEVE THE GOVERNMENT NEEDS TO GET THIS TYPE OF BEHAVIOR AND STOP THESE CRIMES FROM GOING ON...

What a scam. I got a call yesterday from 714-228-5434 and he said I owed $500.00 from 2010 to a company called Cash Advance. I said I had no idea what he was talking about. I said I needed to know from what month. He finally said September. I knew I had not taken out any pay day loans so I asked him to send me a copy. He refused and said I had been ignoring repeated emails and I and the company I work for were being sued. I said I know this is a scam and I want to talk to your manager and I want the information you have sent to me. He said I was in no positon to argue. He finally hung up so I started calling him back demanding he send me a copy of the "supposed" lawsuit. He accepted my first 2 calls and then would not answer the phone. Later on yesterday I received a call from 518-963-0804 saying I had a grant for $4, 700.00 no strings attached. I think it was the same people. I said I needed more details and he said my creditors contacted his company and said I needed more money. When I said I didn't want it he started arguing with me and finally hung up. So guess who called me today, , , , , the guy from yesterday at the Department of Law and Investigation. This time from 970-208-1634 and said he was transferring me to his supervisor. I made the same request -send me something in writing and he also said I am in no position to argue and if I didn't want to be bothered they'll see me in court. I called back and asked for his address as I advised him I am filing harassment charges against him and he hung up. Anyone know what to do next? These people have to be stopped.

I received my first call yesterday from phone number 210-526-6769. A man by the name of "Officer Austin" left a message that he is with the Dept of Law and Investigation and there is a case against me and to return the call, that if I didn't return his call "all he could do was wish me good luck as the case unfolds against me". He too had an "American" name but spoke with a heavy Indian accent. I called the number back this morning and got an automated answer that said this extension was not available at this time but I could leave a message. I did as I was freaked out that this was real. Afterwards I went online to check this out as I was not familiar with this Dept and found this site. SO glad that I did as I am now confident that this is a scam and am not freaking out about it anymore. Has anyone actually gotten them to stop calling and leave them alone??

I also have received calls but in my case i did have a payay loan and in my case i failed to pay the loan off. They called e at work AFTER I as well as my supervisor informaed them i cannot have personal calls at work because i work in a call center. One gentleman actually argued with my sup about this. The mans name I got a call from today was mr. Robinson and had a very heavy foreign accent. When i asked the initial collection agency to either fax, mail or email me something in black and white that states I am required by law to fax over my credit card information they refused. so did Mr. Robinson. He stated if I didnt pay the required amount by 330 pm ESt he will have the authorities come and pick me up from my home. Im not sure where but i do know that a debt can NOT be turned into a crime. THAT is a LAW. I have no problem paying them and even though i defaulted on the payday loan I have the right to have documentation listing what i am required to do by law to follow up. I have call reords showing them calling me several times a day. One day there were 27 calls back to back on my cell phone. They pretend to be lawyers and crime division officers, but they are just a third party collection company hired to collect. needless to say i am NOT going to give them anything until i get my paperwork in writing.

I have beeen getting calls from these ### too.officer Eric Carter, Officer John Anderson, and now Officer John Vincent. The cell phone number is from New York: (347) 640-5533. These people have balls to try to scare you of trying to collect money from your bank account. You can here alot of noise in the background, and it is from a telemarketing place. You can hear other people calling in the background if you listen carefully.I called them back today and gave this guy my attorney's number which is the number of the Pa. State Police. No calls since. Lets see if it stops.I filed a complaint with the FTC and got a complaint number . I would like to find out where in New York they are from and get help from others getting these calls and lynching them up.

I have been getting these harassing calls since February of this year. At first I actually believed this was real, but thank God I was smart enough to search for this Department of Crime Investigations crap and found all these other people trying to be scammed. I'm still receiving calls but I ignore them and just let the scammer leave a voicemail. I have an iPhone so all the voicemails I have from them are still in my inbox. Should I answer next time and yell at them to stop calling??

Same thing here, they are calling for my stepson and have his information (SSN, Address, phone...ect). The number that they give is 347-697-1454 and says that he is officer Alan Taylor. I have a police whistle next to the phone, guess what he will be hearing if he calls again.

OK, first off, everyone CALM DOWN and don’t freak out about these guys. No matter what they say or what they threaten, they CAN’T do anything to you. I know every one of us has tried filing reports with law enforcement, FTC, FBI, ic3, etc. It doesn’t seem to work, because these guys aren’t even in the USA. So take a deep breath, relax and don’t let them ruffle your feathers.

Now, I started getting these calls about a year ago. I have personally used all of the tactics below, and they do stop calling me for about 6 months…so the way I figure it, a little time out of my day to give them back a taste of their own medicine is worth it for 6 months of peace and quiet. Keep in mind, as well, every minute you spend screwing with them on the phone is a minute they are NOT able to scam someone else. (And the only way they will ever stop is if nobody pays them any money ever again!) And now for the fun part—how to screw with them back. I will start with the easiest and move up the line with the more time consuming:

If you have no time to mess with them:
    a. Just don’t pick up the line. Let it go to voicemail and delete the message.
    b. Pick up the line and immediately hang up. Keep doing it until they stop.
    c. Pick up the line and use an air horn or police whistle blown straight into the mouthpiece of the phone. (I personally like the canned airhorn the best.)
    d. If they call while you are driving, turn the radio up as loud as possible and answer the line on speakerphone. Don’t say anything, just let them listen to the blasting music. Heavy metal music works best, but I personally have a CD with Star Spangled Banner on it, so I play that as loud as I can. Just leave the line open with the music blasting until they hang up.

If you have a little more time to mess with them:
    a. Ask if they are related to the deceased (insert your name here as the “deceased”) or just a family friend, because “the viewing of the body if for family only, but the memorial service is open to everyone.” Ask if they would like directions to the funeral.
    b. Simply tell them that you have read all about their scam on the internet & seen it on the news on TV, so you aren’t paying anything. Don’t listen to any response, just hang up on them after saying this.
    c. Use this one only if you are willing to be as crude as they are: Using the name they gave you (i.e., “Officer Mike Taylor” was the last one I got), say, “Is the this THE Officer Mike Taylor I read about on the internet? Is it true what the posts online say, that you have such a small d**k that even camels won’t have sex with you?” Then hang up on them.
    d. (For this one, I must first apologize to PETA and all vegans, but it highly offends the scammers because they consider cows to be divine beings.) Tell them you don’t have time to speak with them, because you work at a slaughter house and you have over 100 cattle you need to “kill off” before the end off the day. Then hang up on them.
    e. Are you good with theatrics? Then try this one…it was actually highly effective for me: Put on your deepest, scariest, growliest voice and just whisper into the phone over and over, “I command the demons to come for you, I command the demons to come for you, I command the demons to come for you…”. Just keep whispering it over and over until they hang up. I think this one worked well because they are quite superstitious.
    f. If you know a foreign language, answer the phone in it and just keep talking in unintelligible phrases. The more obscure the language, the better. Don’t know a foreign language? Pig Latin seems to work just as effectively.
    g. Ask if they are calling from the convenience store, and can they give you last night’s winning lottery numbers, because you are sure you have won. For any response they give to it, just keep yelling over and over, “I won! I won!”
    h. When you answer the phone, ask them where your pizza is and tell them because they didn’t get it to you in the “30 minutes”, you’re not paying for it. Hang up.
    i. Tell them you are at work right now, but to call you back on your “home” phone, and give them this number: 202-835-0778. (This is the scam and fraud reporting division number at the FBI.) Hang up.

If you are REALLY p***ed off, and have plenty of time to screw with them:

    a. Go on to Craig’s List and post an ad in the wanted section or services section saying you are looking for a payday loan company because you need a loan. Ask they call you right away. List the scammer’s name and phone number as the contact information. (This sends the ###-sucking bottom feeders off to call the other ### sucking bottom feeders…LOL)
    b. Go online and look for every free daily horoscope, free insurance quote, free mortgage lending, etc., and click on the “have an agent contact me” link. Type in the scammer’s name and phone number. Viola! Now they will get flooded with telemarketers as well.
    c. If you would like to blow off steam, and have no problem with swearing, just keep calling them over and over pretending you have Tourette’s Syndrome by just screaming obscenities in the phone until they hang up. This works pretty good in the car, because no one else can hear you and it is a good tension reliever.
    d. Log onto these payday loan sites and enter all of the scammers’ information on it. This way they might even wind up on their own list!
    e. (Do NOT attempt this one unless you have state of the art spyware & virus protection, and even then, you still are taking a risk): Go into your spam folder on your computer. Find every email you can about “you won millions of dollars” or “the Nigerian lottery” or something to that effect. Send it back with all of the scammers’ contact information.
    f. Research for the phone numbers to both local and national TV news stations “breaking news desk”. Again, tell the scammer on the phone to call you at your “work number” and give the number to the news station’s phone number. (Hopefully, if the news stations get enough of these calls, they will start airing more stories about it, reaching more people and reduce the number of victims that fall for this.)

Again, before sending money to ANYONE, stop. Think. Do you have any paperwork showing you owe money? If not, ask for paperwork. If they refuse to send it, they are scammers. A real collection agency will always: 1. provide paperwork; 2. never yell or cuss at you; 3. never require you to pay first before receiving paperwork; 4. never identify themselves as an officer of law enforcement; 5. never threaten you with jail, arrest or physical harm.

Good luck everyone, and if you need any help or suggestions, feel free to email me at [protected]@aol.com.

I just received a call at work from an Officer Bob Cooper (Middle Eastern voice), number 315-413-0012, from Law Investigation Department, what threw me off was his conviction that I did do fraud and made me wonder. After I Googled the company I realized this has happened to many. I have reported this to the FBI, local police and the Fraud Department here in Las Vegas, NV. Be careful and do NOT give out your SS# or any past history they will use it against you. They might sound threatening but hold your ground and tell them you will report them to the Better Business Bureau and the Federal Trade Commissions. I am sick of companies who use "The Law" to scare and intimidate people.

I also have been getting these since 2010, I told the sand ###s to go [censored] themselves and office Jon smith told me I needed a good [censored]ing. Obviously fraudulent, I have reported them to the FTC and also called them on a blocked number claiming to be an attorney filing charges and they hung up on me. I have traced the calls and at one point it was coming from a magic jack! I laugh at these stupid foreign [censored]s! They should all be nuked!
