And nothing yet. Anywhere up north they give u the best assistance
Possible plus they give u cash florida is a retirement home
It's not a place to raise ur kids. Especially when ur disabled
Can't work.

I was laid off from a job back in August 2009 for discrimination. The EEOC finally gave me a right to sue letter so I am pursuing that with a pro bono lawyer. I got another job which didn't pay much but the owner was corrupt and I ended up having to report him to the state and DEA. I finally got hired with the Veteran Affairs and three days after they gave me a start date they went on a hiring freeze. I had already put in my two weeks notice and my replacement had been hired. My hour got cut so I applied for food stamps and was told I had to have my employer fill out a form. He waited until the deadline was over to fill it out and then fired me. I worked three very brief temporary jobs but haven't been able to find anything solid. I've exhausted my savings and was having trouble making ends meet. I reapplied and tried to call for the phone interview and left three messages. No one called me back. I called the second number and they were always busy. I received a letter that I failed to contact them by the deadline. It has been five months since I started this battle and I had to start eating less. As a result I developed anemia. As of three days ago I emailed my congressmen and have received a response from one of them. I would strongly encourage everyone to do the same and let them know that there are too many people living off the government with no intent to better themselves yet those who work hard and need assistance temporarily are the ones being denied. We pay taxes that help support these programs and we should be allowed to use them if we need to. This assistance should not go to lazy people who want to sit around and have HUD pay for their housing, have their electric paid for, and get welfare assistance. I have worked in apartment complexes where people do this and the worst part is most of them work out of their homes for cash and don't pay taxes on it. I've seen one lady who ran a hair salon out of her apartment and made about $300 a week. That's $1200 a month. She pays $5 a month rent and gets free groceries from a church. She also gets her utilities paid for. This should not happen. Please, everyone write to their congressmen and make these problems known.

I on the other have a full time job, but by the time i'm finished paying rent, bills, childcare and buy thing i need for the house hold I have hardly any money for food. I'm a single mother with two great kids. I applied for food stamps six times before I got approved the first time simply because every time I called to do the phone interveiw I could never get through, then I would receive a letter saying that i've been denied for not doing the phone intereiw or not faxing the info they needed, when I faxed the info. I eventually got approved but four month later I had to recertify and I went on line to fill out another application. Yet again when I tried to do the phone interveiw I get a busy signal. People should not have to live like this. I wish the state of Florida gave a damn.

I also lost my job and am trying to receive benefits till i can get another job. They also lied to me about having someone call me for my phone interview. Ive been trying to get hold of someone for a week now. All i can say is keep trying. To the ### with the comment of get a job, what are you on this website for in the first place unless you were looking too dumb ### the economy is in the [censored]ter. Maybe if you would pull your head out of your ### you would know that
