Defy Appliances / Defy South Africa gas stove

I purchased a Defy gas stove earlier this year. Gas leaked from the knobs and there was an explosion of flames. The flames caught on me and burnt my hair, eyelashes, eyebrows and eye. The flame sprung up from the knobs. What kind of leak testing do you do there? And how did this thing pass the leak test? We are very disappointed with the outcome of this appliance. I risked my life using it.

Defy Appliances / Defy South Africa microwave convectional/grill/multifunction/model dmo 356

On the 24th Nov 2017 - we bought a 42 liter Microwave at Kloppers, George.
At this stage we are very very disappointed in the product seeing that the Glass Turntable does not fit the microwave.
Today we went to Kloppers complaining about the problem they conveniently said that is a problem with this Model and they cant do anything about it. We just have to keep it, or just return is.
Our question ? Why do they sell products that is not 100 % in good condition knowing that there is a problem ?
Please see to this problem otherwise we have no other alternative but go to the media and ask people (customers) not support/buy the DEFY products

before i blow my steam, i just want to mention that all my products in my house are DEFY...always had full confidence in them...On the 2/02/2016 i purchased my fridge from GAME PAVILION, on the 8/11/2016 my fridge packed, on the 11/11/2016 a technician came to my house in the afternoon (3.30 pm ).he did a rush job because he was on his way home.He got my fridge to work and left.On the 23/11/2017 my fridge packed up again.the tech came on the 30/11/2017 in the afternoon, had a look said that the whoever did the job the last time did not close up something in the back and that the fan was completely frozen and broke, he was also on his way home and because it was frozen in the back, he said he will come back, he came back on the 1/12/2017 and replaced the fan .When i got home the fridge was making a terrible metallic banging sound in the back .phone d and complained, was given the names of 3 tech, phoned them and each told me was not their area...still waiting ...asked GAME to replace the fridge .was told not their problem

I did log a service call with the Agents and was expecting professional service. I am overall not satisfied in the outcome as to date I do not have the exact problem identified. The service and feedback was provided on speculation as no test equipment or diagnostic was used to prove fault. I did provide my dissatisfaction on the Defy Servey, here too no feedback was received from your Customer Service.

Defy Appliances / Defy South Africa poor quality materials used to manufacture a washing machine

A washing machine purchased 19 months ago, has rusted without any water from the outside touching the machine. It had been taken in to be repaired and comes back with internal scratches which are very visible on the machine glass, which were not there before being sent in. During this period extra costs were incurred of utilizing a laundry service. Absolutely shocked at the poor care taken and materials utilized for the manufacturing of the machine that do not perform up to standard. I require a response by the 1st of December on rai.[protected]@gmail.com in regards to the compensation which will be made to me.

Hi. Defy came out to fix a problem with the stove on 22 November 2017. My husband paid by card R 564.30 on the same day. The same amount (i.e.R564.30) has been deducted from his account this morning 27 November 2017. Please investigate urgently why this is the case. Please e mail me on [protected]@gmail.com. Defy Appliances / Defy South Africa defy gas stove

I was so disappointed with the poor service I received from Deffy Service Manager this week on Tuesday his name is Ismail Khaki, he refused to honor my claim because he assumed that the stove is faulty because we abused it ? And this stove is still under warranty, he is just making excuses in order to avoid my claim... He was so heartless and unprofessional the way he handled this matter... Fortunately for us and I thank God that my wife wasn't closer when the glass stove shattered on its own while she was busy cooking...I may not be regarded as an important customer to Deffy but I deserve better treatment.

Defy Appliances / Defy South Africa defy - dfd414 fridge l350 all fridge

After the rubber on the door was replaced it does not seal off. They fitted steel plates and skrews on the door. Damaging the origional door when making holes to fit a steelframe. The fridge freezes up at the back. But stkll the food in the fridge are not kept cold even after a whole day that it was kept closed.

Defy Appliances / Defy South Africa replacement of gas stove top not being done

This is now the third time I have had to ask for a replacement of my gas stove dgs150. The stove top has a burn stain which is a factory fault.

Technicians has been out before and couldn't remove the stains themselves.

I have logged a complaint about three weeks ago and have had no solution to the problem. ref no 786016

My complaint has been given to Ismail Khaki who does not give feedback. This is the second time I had to fight, send emails and try calling him and there is no answer.

This is extremely bad customer service.

Defy Appliances / Defy South Africa defy side by side fridge/freezer

Good day,

I purchased a Defy side by side fridge/freezer in 2012.
Last year June 2016, I had a problem with the freezer where it was cold bt not freezing. The fridge was working fine.
I contacted Defy and an agent came to my house.
The agent suggested that the fridge/freezer be taken to Defy workshop to have it fixed. (Ref: 558276)
Defy collected it, fixed it and returned the freezer to me and charged me R1353, 63.

This year September 2017, I have experienced the exact same problem again whereby my freezer is not freezing.
I contacted Defy again.
An agent came to my house and after inspecting the freezer said that my PC board needs to be replaced. I paid him R1500, 00 for service and a new PC board. (Ref: 773561)
A week after he replaced the PC board I contacted Defy again to tell them that my freezer is still not freezing.
An agent came to my house and now says I must change the wires and put sensors in my freezer.
I asked him if I wasted my money to put the new PC board and how much does wires and sensors cost.
He never returned or contacted me again.
I am very upset because I paid a lot of money repairing my freezer.
Defy even took the fridge/freezer to their workshop last year and still couldn't fix the problem permanently.
I feel like I could have bought another freezer for that price I've spent already.
I refuse to spend more money fixing this problem as Defy suppose to fix it the first time.

I'm really disappointed at Defy service as I am a loyal Defy customer.
Most of my appliances I purchase are Defy.

I want Defy to fix my freezer at no additional cost as I'm being inconvenienced over and again without a freezer.

Defy Appliances / Defy South Africa newly bought fridge came with a dent, after taking off packaging

I'm Mr W.Arendse and I recently purchased a new defy fridge at Game, cape town, after taking off the packaging I discovered that there were a slight dent on the right hand side off the fridge, according to me this could have happened only at the factory where distribution to the various shops took place. I believe in quality and always believe in the defy product, because I always bought defy products for there quality, but I'm very disappointed where the quality assurance of your product is concern. After purchasing the first defy fridge, we had to return it to game, because there were a problem with the cooling system of the fridge, and then after receiving the second defy fridge we saw the dent as explained above, I hope that defy will try to solve this problem, if you need to contact me here is my contact no: [protected]

Bought a defy side by side fridge in february 2017. Fridge is not getting cold. Called center on 12oct 2017. Was advised to supply invoice no. Did not logg call. Then I logged query on same day. Rec a call frm your call center on 13oct2017. Advised tech will come out on 14oct 2017. No tech came or called. I called the call center on 16oct 2017 to enquire advised tech cud not get hold of me. Ask agent to relog so I get urgent attention. 17 oct Tues still no call frm tech or call agent.. called again to enquire. Was advise they wud find out frm tech. Had to speak manager of call center. After waiting 10 min. Had to call back. Extremely frustrating. Eventually got hold of manager, who advised that my cell no incorrect...my words..7 days later still no joy. In the meantime my food is rotting... I would really like it.if u guys can fix fridge which is only 8months old... call center needs to get.ur customer service up.to speed...oh no apology from ur manager either...Defy u have alot to learn about customer service..

Defy Appliances / Defy South Africa double gourmet oven

Bought Double Oven 467, Gemini Gourmet from Hirsch's on 27/04/2017 complete with extended warranty (see attached)
Oven never performed satisfactory,
Hirsch's simply abdicate and refer (their) customer to Defy.
On 26 September 2017 placed a service call,
Only on the 5th October 2017 did a Technician (Rajan) respond.
He found the Oven to be faulty.
a Lady by name of Helen Herbst sent us cookie recipies, yet,
by Thursday 12th October 2017 the problematic Oven has still not been addressed.
Calls to the National Service centre at 11h55 on Thursday 12th
MCEO, Hakan Kozan, not available but (all of a sudden) call centre operator 'confirmed' that the default Oven will be replaced . . . . but when ?
Apparantly 'Mike' will call to confirm . . . .

Defy Appliances / Defy South Africa very bad and unprofessional service

Good day

I have logged a service request on 4 September 2017 with Defy to come and repair my dishwasher that we bought on 27 November 2016. (DEFY DDW174/176 ECO DISHWASHER METALLIC - AP127522).
I was informed by the call center that turn around time is 2 days.

A week went by. I phoned again. Call Center said the technician will come that Saturday. He never showed - this happened 3 times. After making arrangements with me that he would be there, and after I explained that I have to take off from work to be at home.
Each time, I have to phone to get any feedback every time.

My queries have been escalated, but nothing came from it.

It is 11 October 2017, and my dishwasher is still not fixed.
I received the worst service (if you can even call it that) and the most unprofessional behaviour, with no consideration or help being offered. I am very very upset and no one seems to care or apologise for the inconvenience caused and that I have to drive this situation to a solution.

I would like defy to replace my dishwasher with a new one, ASAP, which also has a new warranty, and would like this to be delt with accordingly by management so that service like this won`t happen.

Your feedback is highly appreciated.

Defy Appliances / Defy South Africa defy 8kg front loader tumbler dryer

I purchased the above mentioned appliance from Game store in Brits Mall on the 30/07/2017 and 2 months later the tumble dryer is making a very loud annoying squeaking/ grinding sound the whole time. I paid a lot of money for a product that i thought was very good. I am disappointed with a brand that can allow products with their name on to be sold that isn't very reliable and doesn't work like it should. The stores number is [protected]. I would like the tumble dryer to be repaired and if it happens again i would like the tumble dryer to be replaced.

I am unemployed and have been saving for a gift for my mum. She needed a new microwave. Takealot was selling a Defy product for R1729.00 and because I'm not in the same city as my mum I thought I would purchase it through Takealot as they can deliver (mum does not have her own transport). She received the microwave on Monday 28 August 2018 however unpacked it Tuesday night 29th but tore the box and threw it away for bin day. On the Wednesday she plugged it in only to find out the microwave is not warming at all. Takealot had given us a defective microwave. Takealot have since collected the microwave but also damaged the mirror and are now giving us back a defective damaged Defy microwave. Takealot is not accepting any responsibility for what they have done. Now I am out of pocket and we do not have a working microwave. So disappointing that this is the way customers get treated.

On the 29/5/2015 I bought a Defy F790 from Game Stores in Louis Trichardt,
Invioce 7842921.
After about two months the fan motor starting being noisy and on 20/05/2016 it finally failed completely causing great damage as we were not at home.
The moter was replaced FOC as it was still in the two year warranty Job card C58201. 20/05/2015
After replacement it started blowing and vibrating again after a month and finally failed again on the 17/06/2017 .Once again it was repaired FOC under the two year warranty . Job Card C 529222.
After a couple of weeks the noise and vibration started again, a failure is now for sure . I would be required to pay as the garantee has expired.
This is not what a reasonable product should perform like, and is most certainately not good value for money.
The product is flawed and should be replaced

On my complaint Defy once again responded quickly and the fan in question was replaced FOC.

The noise and vibration was only reduced, but still sounds like a Coke fridge in Pick and Pay .
This is not acceptable and not what can be expected from quality product like Defy. The noise will lead to another failure.
I have spoken to another owner of the exact same Fridge, hers runs normally and has never had any issues .
I expect Defy to solve this problem once and for all after more than two years, by repairing or replacing the product.

Bought a Defy fridge 3 years ago at Marko, in June this year it stopped working, had it repaired and it stopped working in September again the inside bulged and it cannot be repaired. Had to buy a new fridge!

Bought a defy Toploader 3 month ago now al of a sudden my clothe get little holes, it's spins so much al clothes a terrible creased and all twisted hard to separate. The Program does not work properly . What a terrible product😡😡

I bought this stove about 10 months ago as I am a custom cakes baker. I saved for three years to buy this stove and I have had problems from the get go with it. The nobs on the stove keep popping off and three weeks ago I put a cake in to bake. Half way through the bake the inner glass just shattered on the door. I phoned Game regarding the warranty and they told me the glass is not under guarantee. I was then told that there were no parts available in South Africa. This oven is my income and survival. When you buy a well known brand name, you expect to receive the best especially when you pay for the name. I am extremely disappointed in this product and my business has come to a holt due to this trust. I have hit one brick wall after another. I either want this oven fixed 100% or given a replacement of the same size ASAP.

Defy Appliances / Defy South Africa service to tumble dryer

My tumble dryer was brought in to be serviced. Main complaint was that it trips the electricity and the drum does not turn when having a load in it.
Service was carried out - "replaced all the bearing strips, and repaired shorted wires of the door switch - no faults found after testing". I collected the tumble dryer yesterday and loaded sum light garments to be be tumble-dried. To my shock, the drum was not turning and it is making a a worst noise than before but it was "tested" yesterday. I need a call to be logged TODAY and my query attended to TODAY. I do not have a vehicle to drop it off at the service department. My main complaint about the tumble dryer was the drum not turning. How do they test it - with or without a wet load?

I'm highly disappointed in DEFY I bought microwave oven last year March and the paint started to peel off in the inside it became rust I reported it to the company I bought it from and they did nothing I went back and gave it to them because it's still under warranty and as I can't imagine paint coming off and rust can be repaired because it's not a part it's the top inside that looks awful and I bet it could lead to a health hazardous now they want me to pay money so they can replace the part "paint peeling rust"I want the CEO of DFEY I'm tired of being shunt around! As if I got it for free I paid for the damn thing the same B. S with a washing machine I had it less than 6 months when the filter broke its under warranty but I must pay for the part why should I the best part is some defy assistants are highly incompetent in their work "The part is discontinued Mrs" is not my problem is it now? DON'T SELL PRODUCTS THAT YOU KNOW WILL BE DISCONTINUED
