Received notification in mail of a winning lottery amount for the DE-Lotto North American Sweepstakes Lottery.Check was included in mail notification. Letter urges us to keep this winning CONFIDENTIAL until claim has been processed. Has a number to call and leave a message but message mailbox is full. No doubt this is a scam. Wonder if checks are stolen?

This is true. They state the first installment is for taxes on the total winnings. What they want you to do is cash the check and wire through Western Union or Moneygram a certain portion back to them. Upon receiving this portion that is suppose to be for taxes wired to the "tax agent" they will have the remaining of your winnings delivered FedEx. Be CAREFUL the check looks real however it is fradulent

DE-LOTTO NORTH AMERICAN SWEEPSTAKES LOTTERY - FRAUD: Counterfeit check

Via the USPS I received a notification letter from Green Pacific Securities Inc., International Claims Department, that I had won in a lottery, the sum of $125, 000, and enclosed was a check drawn on JPMORGAN CHASE BANK, N.A., Grand Rapids, MI in the amount of $3, 980.00. The check looks authentic in every way. The letter's instuctions are to call a number in Canada for further instruction before depositing the check. The catch: You've deposited the check or cashed it, wired the money via Western Union to pay the taxes on the winnings, the check bounces and the money wired is long gone. Consequently, you are out the $3980.00 and who knows what kind of legal mess for having passed a counterfeit check. Not good.
