Days Inn - scam

Don't stay here or a Days Inn period as I found out they are all independently owned and operated. Meaning they can do and will do whatever they want. For example try to force you to pay for old or previous damages someone else did to the room. The place is already run down and old I figured all the rooms looked exactly like mines where the tv didn't work, graffiti on the mirror and beds on their last leg. After checked out I was pleasantly surprised with a call from the general manager saying I did the damages to the room and if I didn't pay would get a warrant for my arrest. Already planning to take legal action against this establishment for this dirty scam. I will never again stay at another Days Inn property again!

Oh! I forgot what actually drew me to this review, lol. My family and I stayed at a Day's Inn in Norfolk, and several weeks after our stay noticed extra charges on our bank statement. The hotel had charged us for phone calls we did not make and missing towels. Umm.. Who takes cheap hotel towels? Not I. Had to deal with our bank to get those charges reversed. The hotel did not pursue it after that because they couldn't prove it.

A co-worker had a similar dispute about pre-existing damages with Marriot in which they took him to small claims court. The judge stated that the burden of proof is with the hotel. He sided with my co-worker and threw out the hotel hall's suit.

I agree with mkstitch. If you see something so out of the ordinary and there is graffiti on the mirror, just to protect yourself, you better speak up. I used to work at a hotel through college and I assure you that The hotel has no benefit in reporting you to the cops. They are just upset that they had to pay a lot of money to get everything replaced and since you checked out without saying anything, they think it's you. In my opinion, you just didn't protect yourself by using common sense.
