On Febuary 18, 2011 at about 10:3o pm, i went into the parking lot at1356 Eglington ave w, Mississauga, Ontario to use the Scotia Bank machine, upon returning back to my vechical while inside to heard and felt a large thump at the rear of my suv, i then exited the vechical and found that one of the NoFrills carts had hit my suv leaving a large gash on my bumper. I then drove over to the No Frills knocked on the window and ask one of the employees for the manager. I was advised that the owned Daniel was in the store and they would contact him for me. Daniels came out the store, i explained to him and showed him what had happened, he proceeded to tell me that it was not his fault that people did not put back the carts in the designated area and that he was not responsible for my car. i ask him what time his sotre closed, he responed 10pm, i then said it is 10:40pm why are the carts all over the place and it is such a windy night, he said he was going to go in and tell his employees to take care of the carts outside, but he was not responsible for the damage his carts did to my car. i want justice companies should be responsilbe for incidents that happen within or because of their neglogence. please contact me (No Frills has not heard the last of me). Well I know how frustrating this could be for you but the store owner is right it's not his fault if people don't put carts Back and after all it is a private property and drivers park their cars at their own risk, next time park far away from any shopping stores and you'll be fine

Well to explain your situation, The store closes at 10pm and employees end at 1030 pm, after that time it cannot be the responsibility of the store owner though the responsibility of your self. In a parking lot many accidents happen, the owner of the vehicle should be aware of its surroundings. I am pretty sure the cart did not fly from across the parking lot to hit your car but you just did not notice it near your vehicle. Be more careful about your surrounding that is what they teach you in driving school. Thank you

If you notice in every grocery store, wal mart, target or any other store parking lot there are big signs that say we are not responsible for damages to your vehicles by shopping carts. The carts are there as a convience for customers and since customers dont always put them back you take a risk when you park your car on thier lot of being hit by one. If it is bad enough take a claim on your insurance and pay to have it fixed but no judge or jury is going to find the store at fault. Sorry you can complain all you want but it was the person who didnt put the cart back that is to blame not the store that offers the convience of the cart to its customers.
