Culligan dishonesty, not delivering what promised, delivering not reliable equipment

I am a new business owner and in November 2021 I started to look for water filtration system for my new coffee shop. I called multiple places along with Culligan in Flint. We had a sales person Kirk Davis come out to our business location, we showed him our equipment that we will need filtered water and to make sure we will get the right equipment. Kirk was reassuring us that he has done thousands of commercial businesses and that it will not be a problem. He will make sure that our equipment will be fully installed and connected. After we signed the contract, and paid our installation on December 10th 2021, we made sure we talked to Kirk multiple times about the installation process. He reassured us that we have nothing to worry about and that Culligan will take care of everything and will make sure we are properly hooked up. He talked about running flex pipes through our ceiling into each equipment. We felt very confident that it will be a smooth process. However, it proved to be a 3 months nightmare. Few days before the install we asked Kirk if he is coming before our plumbers install the drains or after and Kirk said, that Culligan will come after our plumbers are done with the drains. When Culligan technicians arrived at our location, they claimed that nothing that we were told and promised by Kirk would be installed. That they are there only to drop the equipment off. The technician also, mentioned that the equipment that we received will not handle all the equipment along with icemaker and that we will have to have separate filter for icemaker. They told us that we have to hire our own plumber to connect their equipment. We were told this not a month prior to installation when we signed the contract but the day of installation and days after our plumber finished at our location. Our plumber was hired 2 months prior to our own plumbing need installation. With lack of plumbers in this Covid madness, we knew we were looking at 1 to 2 month delay to get plumber back into our location. We complained to Culigans office that this dishonesty is absolutely unacceptable. The technician admitted that what Kirk did to us was inexcusable. Culligans did try to fix their mistake and came back and ran flex pipes through our ceiling, but refused to connect them to our machines, so we had to wait 6 weeks to have our plumber come back and connect the machines. After Culligans ran the flex pipes through the ceiling we were at least able to turn the filtration system on, just to find out that the system was broken and was gushing water out of the water spout. Technician came back to fix the problem, just to have it broken the next day again and losing gallons of water. At that point they replaced entire valve/part. Then we turned the system off until we were able to get plumber back in to properly connect our equipment and have inspection. On February 7th 2022, we did not pass inspection with the flex pipes ran by Culligan (did not use appropriate connectors) and have to have plumbers come back and fix it again. We decided to at least run our equipment while waiting for plumbers to come back and fix what Culligan did not install properly. We had our equipment running for one day and never got enough pressure to actually get our machines working. We checked the tank and we were able to move the 80 gallon tank, which tells us that the tank was not fully filled up. Who can move a full 80 gallon tank? We turned everything off and decided to wait till the next day for the tank to fill up. To add to our frustration we came in next morning to find out that the repaired and replaced valve broke again and has been gushing gallons of water down the drain. And we are not even in business yet. Going on 3 months dealing with Culligan’s mistake. So far I have patiently waited, thinking once it is all connected we will be all set. Instead, we were sold garbage that cannot handle our equipment. We paid for an installation that needs to be redone. I am requesting Culligan to send me an educated technician that knows what they are doing, take the garbage equipment that they brought me out and bring me quality equipment that it will not break on me on Saturday and I have to close my shop for the entire weekend because there is no one to fix it on the weekend. If you cannot handle commercial filtration then do not advertise, claim and make promises that you have done thousands of business and you do the full hook up. Just to leave your clients stranded on the day of install. I have patiently waited for almost 3 months, but going on 3 months of loss of revenue I will be forced to take legal action if I do not receive quality equipment as soon as possible. Culligan needs to stand behind their products. I have very expensive equipment attached to Culligan’s water filtration system, I cannot afford for the system to be failing and burning out my equipment. That will be expensive damage for Culligan as well. Also, I want Culligan to pay the installation cost of the master plumber that I had to hire, since I was promised full installation and this extra cost should not be my response. And lastly, if this matter cannot be resolved within a week and my opening will be delayed again, I will be requesting compensation for my 3 months of loss of revenue and expenses.

Desired outcome: Replace the existing system with reliable and compatible system, compensation for master plumber installation that I had to hire. If matter does not get resolved within a week I am asking for 3 months loss of revenue and expenses.

Culligan Recharging resin tank & servicing my softener

I live in Lincoln, Nebraska an I have a Fleck water softener that needed service. I called Hall's Water Culligan and they sent a serviceman out promptly. Without even looking at it the person started right in on badmouthing my unit, calling it a 'throw away' & not worth fixing (it wasn't broken) and immediately started in on trying to sell me a Culligan product. I refused and told him what I wanted, new resin and the valves and filters cleaned and O-rings replaced as needed. He took the unit and brought it back the next day and I was charged $525.00.

This was on January 3rd and 4th, 2022, and I'm now starting to experience hard water again and it is only February 9th, barely a month later. I don't want to call them again because I think it will only make the issue worse and will cost more money.

Desired outcome: I did not get what I paid for and I don't trust Hall's Water Culligan to make good on their work. I want a refund so that I can find a more reputable company to service my softener.

Culligan Bottled Water not delivered to our business for over two months.

We have a contract with Culligan water to deliver every two weeks to LAC+USC medical center 2051 Marengo Street Los Angeles CA 90033. We pay our bills on time and for the past two months we haven't received any water and we contacted them numerous times and every time they keep on promising this week, next week, no drivers ... etc and yet nothing. If this was their excuse I don't understand why the section right across the hall from us they get their water regularly.
The service is getting worst and worst and when we complain their response is you can cancel your service and if this is how you run a business I don't know how you can stay in business,
From my experience I will never do business with people like that don't appreciate our business.

Desired outcome: WE need to get water delivered regularly with no interruptions.

Culligan Customer Service

I reached out to Culligan for water treatment cause the cities water is terrible. As soon as they had the money problems began, first with incomplete install, then with tell us different cost associated with route checkup and salt delivery. I have been unable to resolve this issue with the Weatherford, Tx branch. I would in no way recommend this company to anyone and wish I could just return for a refund and cut all ties with them. Ryan's customer service skills are non-existant, And the part time sales person is a lier.

Culligan salt delivery

Last 2 salt deliveries provided the worse customer service imaginable. But the one that was supposed to happen today was the kicker. First, I cannot get them to deliver often enough to prevent running out. Last delivery they brought 1/3 less than requested and basically said, "Too Bad." But today when this person who is delivering, who has a job, delivering to us who have lost their business and income, could not handle our disgust about these over the top rules that have contributed to our loss, one being the driver not allowed to come in our home and down the steps to fill our softener. Taking our opinion as some personal affront, and after I said it is fine leaving the bags on the porch, he took the 2 bags he had just brought and carried them back into his truck and left. I did ask him as he walked back with the bags, why he was being a jerk. This poor delivery person, I say again who has a job, told them back at the Wheeling, IL office that he didn't leave the salt because I called him a jerk. Not quite the story, but even if it was, what right does he have to deny me my service of this delivery? Because he was offended? I am a 20 year customer of this service, 60 years old and have always paid my bills. The office I called supported their driver. Disgusting.

Culligan service for repair sulfur cleer tank system

I have a water softening system along with a sulfur cleer tank that I purchased in 2015 on my ranch house property to filter the high iron content. We contacted our local culligan (ising's culligan/san joaquin) on june 1st because system stopped working properly. We were told it would be 2 weeks before they could service it. When they did, the service tech said his manager requested that he wanted to see unit personally and had him remove unit. They said they would assess my next tues. (today). We called and now manager is said to be out of town until thursday. We have had to deal with iron water that is unacceptable to bath or do anything with. We should have been given a loaner or had repairs done sooner.

Culligan customer service at watertown, sd location

On July 3rd we spoke with Beth and Jason at the local Culligan office in the 57201 zip code location. The treatment we received as loyal customers for 10 years from Jason was absolutely awful. When inquiring about how to continue a service route for salt Jason aggressively yelled out from the back we can't deliver because of an arch, we have on our driveway which has been in existence for 13 years. We were told it was inconvenient to service our house and that the previous owner of the house did not have the arch. Jason aggressively yelled out, "(the previous owner's name) did not have that arch!" When we recommended we could have the truck drive onto the neighbor's driveway he yelled back saying, "we'd have to talk to (neighbor's name)." Now we don't receive this treatment. No one discussed with us that our services were not going to be continued. Beth did her best to accommodate to the situation but Jason was not only verbally aggressive, but also extremely sexist and discriminatory. We will not stand for such service. We are greatly disappointed in Jason and our services at Culligan in the Watertown, South Dakota location.

We had the same experience when dealing with Jason. He was a telephone tough guy to my wife. He told her she doesn't listen to what I say and it's not his job to provide paperwork for his accounts. He also told her that if she wants a copy of the contract she could come and get it herself. When I showed up at the office, he basically refused to acknowledge that I was in the building. He didn't say anything to me until he absolutely had to. Even at that point he wouldn't look me in the eye. He only asked my name and then ran out of the building. Very unprofessional.

Culligan tank kept regenerating, caused $969 water bill

My water bill is usually about $72.00 a month. I've been renting a softener from Culligan for about 7 months. I just received my water bill and it's $998 for two months. The water company told me it was because of my water softener. I called Culligan and they told me to unplug the softener. I unplugged the softener and had Culligan come out to discover a seal was broken on the softener which made it keep regenerating. If they do not cover my water bill I'm taking them to small claims court.

Culligan water softener

Recently we had a horrible experience with Culligan water softener, Calgary, Alberta. Sales representative was very pushy. We decided to rent Culligan water softener to try it for a few months before purchasing. At the second try, the softener that was installed which was not even a Culligan water softener after they made a mess for the first time. Within about 60 days we discovered that the water softener was broken and it was draining water like crazy and I made three service calls to Culligan and no one returned my call. We bypassed the water softener to avoid water waste. But the damage was already done and we ended up with about $1300 water bills for about 60+ days. Our water usage is typically about $70 per month. Culligan refused to accept any responsibility for this incident and refused to reimburse me the damage they have caused. They would not even split the water bills with me.

Culligan defective product

Think twice before you purchase any product or service from Culligan. Any company is only as good as it handles customer’s problems. I had a Culligan under sink water filtration system in which one of the 2 canisters ruptured during the night. I awoke to find my entire house flooded as a result. This caused a year of hardship and troubles for me. I had the filtration system inspected by an independent testing laboratory. In a 12 page report it very clearly states that this was and is a defective product. In spite of this Culligan chooses to ignore me and my complaints. Purchase Culligan at your own peril you have been warned.

Culligan all bottles may be non-refundable deposit

I spoke with Culligan water about returning bottles for the deposit. I had purchased from an authorized dealer and that dealer is looking to close up its business. After speaking with Culligan directly I have learned that ANY store or shop you purchase Culligan water from may or may not honor the deposit on the bottle and Culligan will only honor the deposit if it was directly from their Culligan office. They will not honor any returns for the deposit otherwise. You may continue to exchange from any Culligan Authorized dealer, but they will not give the deposit back on the bottles. Checking the dealers and other locations in store signage indicates that deposits are refundable and are no location indicated 'Non-Refundable' deposit. So if you buy from any location, authorized dealer or not, expect you will NOT get your deposit back.

Culligan buyer beware

I called Culligan when we moved into our home with an existing system. The "technician" spent all of two minutes looking at my system and told me that it was too old too repair or service and then introduced me to a sales associate who had just happen to come along with him. Afterwards, when Culligan inexplicably billed me almost $300.00 for the "service call" (again, the service person did nothing except introduce me to the sales person and I never wanted a pitch in the first place!), I refused to pay. Culligan threatened to send me to collections and the sales rep told me to "sue" and "take it to court" if I wasn't happy. These are extremely shady practices! BTW, I've since learned that Culligan will install a very pricey "top of the line" water system, but then will come out with a newer version in a few years and will refuse to service your system saying the parts aren't available or its too old, etc. It's just a racket! I will never let a Culligan technician or sales person in my home again.

Culligan shady billing practices

Culligan installed a reverse osmosis system in my home in San Diego. The worthless salesman told me that I could purchase the unit for $899 in 12 months. The office set up the billing as rental and only charged $35 per month. Buyout payments would be $75. I got busy with life and called Culligan 18 months later to see why they were still billing me and when my buyout would be complete. The billing people told me that my account was a rental account and that none of my payments counted toward the buyout since I was past the 12 month buyout period. I demanded to speak to the salesman who said that the only way out of the rental contract was to pay an additional $400. At this point, I had paid $846 for a $899 system. I sent a letter and my final payment of $53 and told the company that I considered the unit purchased. The salesman called me and said that I was still on a rental and that the rental bills would keep accumulating...I wonder if a Culligan *** will show up to my funeral to collect my $15, 000+ bill? (assuming I die at at about 80 and the monthly rent remains at $35 no interest.)

WHATEVER...just keep billing me 'til the cows come home...I'm not payin suckers!

The salesman told me he was coming over to my house! Wow! Go ahead and just try buddy!

Culligan charges about $400 to move a water filtration system they sold me

After going through a ridiculous process with the Culligan Finance to get the thing paid off, now when I need to move it to another house, they want about $400 to move it! That was not disclosed to me previous to purchasing it and there is no indication on their website that this will be the fee to have it moved. Totally unreasonable! I purchased it from the Oceanside, CA office in March of 2007. I feel that If I were to do it all again, I would have bought a reverse osmosis water filtration system from a different company.

Culligan terribel customer service

I phone culligan on 8 / 07 / 2010, however the problem is much older. This is the second time they had to come out and service our equipment, and had to actually removed it and take it in for repair. Which took three weeks, we were without service, after paying over 3500. 00 for this one piece of equipment. Which they have not reimemburse us for or waive any fees. Today, we have an emgerency, as our pool is leaking water, and it may be because of this illequipment, which started happening the same time the culligan equipment went out. They told me they would come out for 189. 00. I said what! Why are you charging me for this equipment which is under warranty, he said because it's saturday. So what, if it's saturday, sometimes emergencies don't occur mon - fri.
I hung up and did some research and found out that this company is terrible, and have been ripping people off and overcharging them for years. So i called the guy back, and ask him where was this charge in my paperwork. I ask him to proved to me that this is the charge for an emergency, and he said, he just anwsers the calls, he doesn't know where it is in my paperwork, and i ask, how do you know i have one then, he said, it's what the company charges for emergencies. I look up the company information and their was no information, customers are always at the mercy of dealers. So, i told him to send someone out anyway, and i will take this up the the ceo, and let him know that this company is all over the internet as being a rip off.

Culligan bad business practices

My beef is with the Culligan store in Hanover, Ontario, Canada and hence with Culligan International. It is a corporate store, meaning that it is directly connected to Culligan International through Culligan Canada. Culligan International is promoting a new sales development process under which I was hired several months ago. A week short of the probationary period I was let go ( every story has two sides). Had there been a reason given that a made sense given the conditions I was hired under it would not have rankled so. At no time after the first few weeks were the conditions of that training program addressed or discussed in a meaningful way. In fact, questions about the information in that program only seemed to generate increasing hostility. It was a question about how to deal with the rapidly approaching 90 day corporate HR questionnaire on my participation in the corporate sales development program that seemed to generate the dismissal. It was clear to me that the pointed non-response to the question was a message.

My guess, based on attending a recent Culligan kick-off event, is that Culligan is into an aggressive, top-down corporate renewal program and hasn’t figured out yet how to get or enforce the corporate alignment necessary to make it work down to the field level. There certainly doesn’t appear to be any support yet at the corporate level for anyone caught in this new machinery. If you are thinking of employment with this corporation in a sales capacity, I would seriously suggest getting corporate training commitments in writing before committing to employment. It all looks good on paper but they don’t seem to have figured out how to walk their talk yet. If you have ever tried to sprint up a sand dune you will appreciate what it is like trying to work within this new process that doesn’t seem to have been thought through.

Beware corporate citizens who don’t have their ducks in a row. They can seriously waste your time and damage your reputation.

Do yourself a favor.Buy a unit at Sears, Home depot etc.Culligan is clearly a scam!Don't use them

Culligan doesn't care what their customers get

I had Culligan water softener installed in my home and registered a privilege membership with them which they said will provide salt montly and service including cleaning/repairing. I have been charged $32 montly but they schedule to deliver salt every 3 months. Each month, I have to go out to check for salt level and always have to call them to have salt delivered. I once requested that they deliver every two months or 1 1/2 month because it's not enough salt if they deliver every 3 months. The representative said she'll note my request and see if they can do that. They never did even though they charge me monthly of $32. Most of the time I have to call TWICE in order to get salt delivered. I never thought that they would ignore my call for salt delivery but they really did. I bath my 2 year old child in a bathtub, and sometimes let the water stay still for a period. Once we shockingly found soil at the bottom of the bathtub. My husband thought it was from my child and we tested it with clean water and still found it. I went out to check for softener and found that the bottom of the water softener had real dark black liquid. It' so disgusting. So, I had to turn off the softener until they deliver salt. It's been months since I had to do that, and it's been a year since I had to call (most of the time twice) to get salt delivered. This time it's been 2 weeks since I first called for salt delivery, I made it the second time but they just recently created a ticket for it. My water softener again contains dark liquid and I again have to turn it off, waiting for salt. I just called in for a cleaning service and water test because next week, i'll call in to cancel my privilege membership. I don't know if Culligan water softener is worth the money and if it works because they didn't do any maintenance or deliver salt on time for customer with privilege membership. What if the water softener without salt but black liquid? Do they understand how the softener perform - salt or black liquid? I rather have hard water than contaminated water. The Culligan don't care about what the customers get as long as they can charge montly, as long as they have the contract signed. I paid over $3100 for the softener. so regret I did that with Culligan. All the good comments in their website are typed in by themselves because you don't see any place in their website for customer comments. If they do a good job and competitive enough, they would have a place for casual comments from the customer instead of typing in themselves. Those comments could be from their customers but the thing is that they throw the many bad and post a very few good.
