DeVry University - exhorbitant tuition fees and dishonest billing

I attended Devry University here in San Diego for a single semester in March of 2008. I was originally quoted $50, 000/$60, 000. for a 3 year bachelors program at Devry. I started part time, taking a single math course to see if I would like Devry.

The bills started coming in the second week of class and right away I was alarmed. I was billed over $5, 000. for a single math course and they also charged me for books and supplies (Expensive scientific calculators and laptop), which I paid for out of my own pocket directly, with the promise of future reimbursement that never came. I left Devry after that semester and went to the California community colleges which are much more affordable and a much more respected education. I was about to start my 3rd semester and getting ready to transfer to SDSU when it became obvious that my short attendance at Devry would be a problem.

Firstly, Devry refuses to release my transcript, claiming I owe them another $1000. above the $3750 they have already received for the one math class. This has made it so that I cannot get any further student financial aid, (including loans) until the Devry transcript is released.

But also, it turns out that Devry is not fully accredited after all and now it is looking like i will have to repeat this course in community college to complete the prerequisite requirement for my bachelors degree.

Do I regret ever going to Devry's doorstep? The answer is a big, resounding YES!

I am so surprised with what I have been finding out concerning DeVry University. I too am a victim of the financial aid issues that the University is having, and I do not blame the staff or even the Deans. I was told that I was accepted and my financial aid was confirmed by the enrollment advisor and the financial advisor. After my 8 week course was completed I was told by the financial advisor that owed them the classes. It has been two years and I still no resolution, the amount due back in 2009 was $1, 300 and now I got other bill for $3, 629.00 and locked out of any additional courses. Finding out from Sallie Mae, the university financial division sent back my funding to them and I never was informed by the university about this refund.
Caught between a rock and a hard place, the university can hold my transcripts and I will not be able to use any to continue my education. Where is the justice?

Minorities get ripped off, Really? That's your user name? Get over yourself and making everything a racial issue. You make yourself sound completely uneducated.
How is it DeVry's fault that you didn't pay your bills? When you default on a loan, you get yourself into serious trouble when you try to apply to some other school. It's not the school's fault you weren't honest about your financial situation. I cannot wait for you to call the FBI and tell them your woes. The will laugh hard in your face.

I am also a victim of Devry University financial aid fraud I did not even get to attend classes because the Financial aid department told me I could not get financial aid because I defaulted on a previous student loan at a different college. The school put almost $11, 000 dollar worth of financial aide in my name they still have not returned it my next step is to file a lawsuit and to contact the FBI.

IF ANY ONE HAS HAD THIS PROBLEM PLEASE LET'S TRY TO COME TOGETHER OTHERWISE THEY WILL KEEP DOING THIS TO STUDENTS!
