Very poor 🤒
We don't know much about how Crunch Fitness handles customer complaints outside ComplaintsBoard, but what we see here, on our website, is quite disappointing. We think there might be reasons for the company's actions (like not knowing about the complaints), and we would be happy to see them among customer-focused businesses that easily solve customer problems. But until that happens, we ask reviewers to be cautious when dealing with Crunch Fitness and using their services, and to carefully read the experiences of other customers on ComplaintsBoard, because who is warned is armed, you know! 💪

Crunch Fitness refund

In October I agreed to a personal trainer. I was told that I had to pay 4 sessions up front, which I did on my credit card.
My personal trainer quit in October but worse than that, my credit card was being charged 135$ every 2 weeks. Crunch owes me in excess of 600$!
I have visited, called, emailed and have not received my refund. I saw the manager once and he promised I'd get a refund.
Most emails go unanswered and I am at my wit's end.
I want my refund that I've been waiting 6 months for.

Crunch Fitness personal training

Hello,
My name is Karina Courville, I've been experiencing some trouble with personal training fees and employees from one of your locations.

I recently enrolled in a personal training at crunch fitness In welland Ontario, i was never given a copy of the contract and I was never told that once is signed it I wasn't going to be able to put the account on hold if needed. I had lost my job after singing up so I asked the employee who signed me up for the personal training to put it on hold until I could figure out how I was going to come up with the funds to pay the fees, I was put on social assistance because I am unable to work now due to health concerns from my doctor I was speaking with one of the employees who had informed me that I was going to get refunded 300$ that was taken from my account after I had asked them to put my account on hold they told me they were sending me a cheque in the mail. To then witch I had never recieved. I've been talking with the personal training manager at my location I had set up a meeting but due to doctors appointments I was unable to go. It was not until I messaged his boss saying he hadn't got back to me that he then emailed me saying he doesn't work weekends and that this wasn't going to end in the way I desire. I have now had 222 dollars in nsf fees including the original 300$ that was taken from my account I'm on social assistance and when they deposited my cheque money was taken and now I'm unable to pay my rent due to this situation. This hs been on going since January and nothing has been done to put the account on hold. I'm unable to reach head office and this matter needs to be dealt with before I lose my apartment due to the money that was taken from my account.
If someone could email me back at [protected]@gmail.com or call me at([protected]. It would be much appreciated

Crunch Fitness cancellation charges

Hi Team,

I am Suresh (Eesh Yadav), recently 2 months ago I've joined in crunch fitness which is on February 2nd 2019, Since my project is done in Farmington Hills i'm moving to different state for job purpose. And I knew my current project is going to end in march. So when I went to crunch fitness to cancel my membership the manager at that location her name is "Anna" is asking me to pay $59 for cancellation which i'm not aware of while joining.
and she said I signed for one-year contract, they haven't explained anything about the contract and also when I knew my project is going to end in couple of months why would I sign for one year.
I request you to please cancel my membership with out any cancellation fee.

Thanks,
Suresh.

Crunch Fitness many listed below

Hello, I'm hoping to get this resolved, I joined peak plus for the type of class it is. Well, I pay extra for those classes but over the loudspeaker, they invite everyone in the gym to participate in which I don't believe is fair that I pay for and they don't. I also was told the classes were 45 mins long but they only last 20-25 mins where I'm used to classes being 1 hr back to back. When I asked for a class schedule I was told they aren't allowed to give copies of the classes but online are incorrect and have shown up many times just to go home. I also joined when there where classes after 9 am and there is only one location that has it one or two times a week. When I asked to cancel my membership because it was false advertising 3 days before it was due they told me that it was already being processed and payment could not be stopped. I moved Jan 1st an hr away and have not gone to any crunch fitness because of distance. I want to cancel my membership but I am always told I have to do it at my crunch I joined at, but its too far away. Please cancel my membership and please refund any monies due to me. Thank you.

Sincerely,
Christina LaRocca

Crunch Fitness Poor service of machines and poor customer care

I have been a member since 10/17. It is now 3/17/19. Shortly after joining I reported some broken equipment (fixed lateral pulldown). That equipment is still not fixed. I have shown employees the problem several times, and nothing is done. When I last talked to the executive manager, she told me it was on the books since October, but it still was not fixed. I originally reported it long before Oct. Currently the only seated leg press and leg extension are also broken. The leg press has been down over a month. I reported all three of these machines again on Wednesday 3/13/19.

These are relatively easy fixes, and I see no reason these machines are not inspected every two weeks by the staff. I have been a member of other gyms and repairs have never taken so long. This crunch fitness seems to have a very high turnover of employees and managers. The present Executive manager listened well a week ago, and she promised action on the leg press, but it is still not fixed. Bureaucratic issues seem to keep coming up. One suggestion I have is to certify a single employee to fix these machines along with their other duties.

One final comment. I wanted to send a letter to the CEO of Crunch Corp. Finding a name and address is impossible. I am trying to help Crunch improve their product, but it is so difficult to find where to write something so that someone in authority is aware of the problem, is impossible. You need to make these people accessible.

Please email me a response, and let me know what steps you are taking to remedy this situation.

Sincerely,
[protected]@ctcweb.net

Crunch Fitness inappropriate and dangerous behavior by an employee.

I am a client at Crunch gym in Upland Ca. and have been for 5+ years. As of recent there is a new H.I.T.T program that takes place in the middle of the equipment..as of the "new" changes in the gym . The program is run by a woman named Cintia Hutcheson. She is very rude and has become more dangerous while at the gym. She has now been telling all of us clients (not in the H.I.T.T program) that we must get off our machines that we are not allowed to be on the machines (which has never been said to anyone) She has made it a point to blast the music so loud that none of the clients can hear music on their headphones. While lifting she puts sleds and white boards behind people to the point of where people are tripping or almost falling . When the object is moved slightly she continues to make sure to put it right behind clients again . She has told people in the absolute rudest way that they have 1 min to move . This is unacceptable and dangerous for ALL clients this needs to be addressed ..

Crunch Fitness disrespectful, rude, and unsafe personal trainer

Hello I am a member of crunch fitness of upland ca. There is a new trainer whos hold a hiit, or boot camp almost every night. Her name is cintia hutchinson from what the manager said, when ever she holds her class she is rude and disrespectful, in every way to all who (are any where near her class) as she puts it. She is unsafe where as to push equipment in back of you as a means to make you want to move and or leave like another member did last night. She is causeing a hostel enviroment for others and many others have the same complaint about her. She blocks off equipment at least 8 major pieces, all 3 cable machines, both rope stations, the entire cross fit area, and all of the field turf. As a former manager of a gym it is unacceptable to block equipment form members who pay their dues like everyone else, and members walk out thats a bigger problem.

Crunch Fitness rude managers

Good morning I have been a member for over a year and I am set up on auto pay with my debt card. Got a new card forgot to update it on yr website. Went into the gym today. Manager claudia lozez, and alayna tesh told me I had to get my card or I could not work out. Asked if I could go online today and use my checking account that way I never haft to check exp date. Was told if I didnt give my card now I could not come in and that I could not cancell my membership. Had a friend which I just had her sign up with perk plus and asked if I could come in as her guest till I got home she told me that I was abuseing the system. *really* never missed a payment. And was never called or text or emailed my memeber was expired due to card on file. I cancelled my memeber ship and I will let people no yrour managers and rude and snotty. And I am going on social media and letting them also know the way I was talked to and treaded. Btw I have a credit score over 800 and thats because I pay my way in life. Maybe you might put in yr billing system to call text or email when a person is past due so they arent shamed when they come to workout. And in the past year I have really enjoyed coming there. Guess thats why I have sean at least $ managers come and go.

Crunch Fitness Personal training / general customer service

I have been a member for years. Recently I purchased a one year personal training package to get back in shape. Due to a knee injury last May and surgery last January, I hadn't done much fitness and needed to get back in shape. After first session, I pulled something. Not sure what it was yet. I saw my doctor. He prescribed anti inflammatory meds. I went to 2 more sessions. The pain was excessive. I saw my physio therapist who suspected a c6 disc herniation. So, I called the gym yesterday at 3 pm to let them know that I would not be in for my 4 pm training apt. I told Cohen the situation and that I could not get through the workouts and that I thought the workouts are you hard for me. I asked for an appointment to come in to discuss next steps. Later I received a call from training manager. This call resulted in her saying she had no time. That there's absolutely no cancellation allowed due to my contract. That she can assign a new trainer, but I get no choice. I reminded her that I'm severely injured, I can't workout right now. I asked about qualifications to see if they had anyone with physio background or something. She got defensive and hung up on me. I called back to ask for a meeting with manager or owner. That conversation resulted in the receptionist telling me off. I then got an email from a manager who was wrongly informed about what had happened. She offered me that I could cancel if I have a doctors note or to put things on hold. I sent her back an email saying OK, cancel my membership and my training and I'll get you that note. Then she backtracked, trying to offer me that meeting with the training manager not accepting to cancel my membership. All this just because I'm injured and called to say I'd miss an apt. At this point, I feel that the relationship between myself and the gym is broken and not repairable. To charge me over $1300.00 for sessions I can not attend is outrageous. I'm a single mom. It's not OK to take people's money, especially when I got injured in your workout. I can't possibly ever feel comfortable working out there or showing up there and that's why I want to cancel my entire membership. I don't see why I can't cancel it. I asked 3 times in writing now. Just outrageous. Marie Sonia Albert

Crunch Fitness child care!

Almost daily there is only one adult in the child care center with 15 or more children of different ages. This is sad! One person can not take care of that many children! I asked how much they paid because I run an in home daycare and would have thought about working there instead! 7.75 an hour! That is an insult. It is hard to take care of all of those children. Also this is showing us parents that you don't care about us or our children, because we are getting calls to pick up our children because there is not another person in there to help calm them down. I understand the 10 minuets rule, where if a child is inconsolable for 10 minuets you get a call but today I didn't have that chance because there was no one there to help the poor girl!
I also never take my children at night because the 2 girls that are normally there, never watch the kids, they are always on their phone and sitting talking to each other. They have no pride in their jobs and the ones in the morning that do like their jobs aren't getting the pay they need to support their families!

Crunch Fitness membership cancellation failure

Hi, I became member of Crunch Fitness alexandria, NSW, Sydney, Australia in late August, 2018. However, after one week attendance, I was no longer able to go to the gym. Then, I personally came to the office and filled out a cancellation form but after few weeks, they started charging me again. Then, one month later I came to the office again and told them I did cancellation but still overcharging. A staff checked and told me they hadnt confirm my cancellation then I was very pissed and patiently did the same as before. After that the overcharging did not stop and finally, I came to the office again to see the general manager whose name is Declan Carey, he was very unpolite and couldnt find any filled cancellation form from their archiv. And even banned my wife to enter crunch fitness's any branch by email due to she came with me to talk to them without using any inpoliteness! Soooo awkward, additionally, I got overcharged by them more than 300$ and just received an email that I also owed them 174$ more from a debt collector on behalf of Crunch Fitness. What a mess going on there? I am so pissed and lodged my complain in NSW FairTrading and they sent an email to them and still cant get any response from them!

Crunch Fitness receipt

I've gone into my local Crunch gym about 1 time/week over the last 2 months to ask for a receipt for the 2018 year. I get reimbursed for my gym membership from my insurance. Every time I go in, the staff are help, but they have no clue in how to print out a valid year's worth of receipts. I was told that my complaint was passed up to upper management and told that my frustration was "over the top" in an email I saw.

Yeah? You've been frustrated too if you've made a simple request for over a month and gotten no results.

Why can't you help me, Crunch? Why is my complaint for a receipt "over the top"?

Dan

Crunch Fitness Membership

Member # RC5024371

I called to cancel my membership today and was told I need to come in to cancel so they can verify it was really me. Who would call to cancel peoples gym memberships fraudulently? Doesnt make sense.

The main issue is I had moved. I am not within an hours drive of a Crunch and I explained this to the lady. She said it was not possible and said I can contact corporate if I wanted. I have paid about 12 months of this and used it 2 times at the very beginning, you have gotten plenty of wasted money from me, please cancel this immmmmmediately! If not I will go to the BBB and other means if I have to.

Thank you,

Crunch Fitness gym membership

I enrolled as a peak member with Crunch at one location (Lauderhill) - giving me access to all locations.
When Lauderhill was sold to Zoo Fitness, I was told to sign a few documents so that they took care of my cancellation with Zoo (where I never signed up) and that I could continue in the other Crunch location.
Now I get debited by Zoo abd Crunch and asking in the new location, Crunch team members said, it is my problem between Zoo and me.

Crunch Fitness cancellations/customer service

I have been trying to cancel my personal training sessions with crunch Canada with no success.
Lat year Oct 2018 I signed up for PT sessions, got my trainer set up a start day to find out from my son a week before my session my trainer had left, so I waited to see if Gym would call to let me know, and no they didnt I ended up having to go in and tell them I needed a new trainer. the manager set me up with a new trainer but wasnt able to start right away due to being sick so I didnt have my first session til about November 2018.
for the last few weeks I have been trying to cancel my sessions as I am not using them and waste of money I could use somewhere else. So I went in and talked to the fitness consultant who said he wasnt able to cancel it had to be the manager. I contacted the manager and we had set up a date so I could go in and cancel, the day comes and he sends me a message that he couldnt make it as he had to work the night shift as one of his staff was sick. a few days go by and havent heard from him so i message him again still didnt hear from him. then I heard my current trainer had left as well and again no phone call to say he had left and could get a new trainer. I messaged the manager again stating I want a reimbursement of my sessions from when my trainer left which was around december 2018 as no courtesy call was made
I am still waiting for a reply
i have been trying to find the number for head office which the only one I have found is in New York

I had the same thing essentially happen, I had a trainer, he moved away. I had 20 paid for sessions, they were to find me a new trainer. I did get my sessions cancelled but again I still have 20 that I paid for and no new trainer to help out. I am trying to see about getting money back as well.
Good luck

Crunch Fitness membership account

I have been a member of Crunch Fitness, in West Homestead, PA since they have opened. I had the basic membership, $9.95 per month and upgraded to Premium, $19.95 per month, because I was told that my daughters could work out at Crunch under my membership and that they could attend the facility without me. I was told i did not have to accompany my daughters, they are 18 & 20. my daughters have gone to work out and were now told that i need to be present when they go the gym. This is not what i was told when i upgraded, and i was mislead and i have wasted money on the upgrade because my sole purpose to upgrade was so my daughters could work out as well. I would like some kind of compensation, since i have been a loyal and active member at Crunch since it opened several years ago. I need to downgrade my account to basic, without any penalty and I would request that i get some type of free membership, due to the miscommunication of the staff at Crunch in West Homestead. I would appreciate your response to resolve this matter. Thanks,
Frances Quirin

Crunch Fitness customer service

As I see I am not the only one upset. Joined but trying to get help is out of the question it seems some staff are helpful. Asked for an orientation of gym was told staff to busy behind desk to help, but could pay trainers ten dollars and would receive help. Why should I have to plan extra fee? Staff should provide orientation as well as speake to new members about proper gym equitte. Was informed by staff members that they would not enforce members removing weight plays off equipment as should be required by fellow members once they are finished using equipment. Also, was enformed that if fellow members would not let you work in they would not intersed. If members don't understand proper gym equitte, because he/she is new to gym experience why should I a experienced bodybuilder be inconvenienced. Also, to many members for to few parking spaces. You have to drive around at least twenty minutes to park. You get a bad warm up before you start the good one (workout)

Crunch Fitness membership downgrade fee

Joined: november 2018
Incident date: 1/14/2019
Member id: abc279861
Resolution: change of membership with no fee.

I signed up for a member a couple months ago and selected the peak membership as I was told I could downgrade or cancel at any time. I called today to change my membership to the basic package because I don't have the time to take advantage of the classes due to my second child being born recently. It turns out I would need to pay a downgrade fee of $69.99! The monthly fee is $29.99 and the annual fee is $59.99.

The rep or manager on the phone just told me that I can't cancel the membership unless I pay the annual fee even though I opted for the month to month membership in case I wanted to leave at any point. So now my options are continue to pay for services that don't interest me, pay an absurd downgrade fee that was not brought to my attention at the time of registration, or basically still pay that amount and lose my membership.

How can a company get away with practices like this? I was willing to downgrade and continue to go when I have the time, but this has kinda it for me. Why should I stay with a company like this?

Crunch Fitness staff members

The assistant general manager of the Valrico location, who's name is Kirsty, hangs out at this location in uniform behind the customer service desk, gossiping about members, refusing customer service, and exhibits generally rude and unacceptable behavior. As a paying member, I find it appalling to be treated like this, and when I have asked other staff and management to deal with the problem, they only seem interested in taking her side and defending her. Maybe it would be better if the group of friends running this show would just hang out on a sofa over a beer and wings, instead of managing a gym. Guess this is what happens when you pay people ten bucks an hour part time.
